Resumen
This study aimed to reveal the relationship between quality of life and happiness in a comparative manner, to underline the importance of happiness and enable researchers to familiarize themselves with happiness in the sociological context of Turkey. Quality of life and happiness, which are multidimensional and interdisciplinary concepts, were firstly identified by looking at their treatment in different approaches. Then, they were analyzed by relating them to different variables in the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) data which allows for making comparisons among European Union countries and Turkey. Our study is limited to four countries, namely Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary and Turkey that were selected on the basis of two criteria
their average of happiness score and their membership status in the European Union. On the other hand, the independent variables of the study are &ldquo
having&rdquo
(material living conditions), &ldquo
loving&rdquo
(social relations), &ldquo
being&rdquo
(quality of society), &ldquo
time pressure&rdquo
(work-life balance), &ldquo
alienation&rdquo
, &ldquo
environment&rdquo
, internet using, health and socio-demographic variables namely gender, age, region, employment status and educational level. Consequently, improving quality of life resulted in happiness. In other words, the main aim of improving quality of life is to supply, improve and increase happiness.

Escobar-Tello, M. Carolina. "Explorations on the relationship between happiness & sustainable design". Thesis, Loughborough University, 2011. https://dspace.lboro.ac.uk/2134/8447.

Texto completo
Resumen
Through understanding the way in which design can contribute in a holistic way to sustainability, this thesis investigates and proposes the design methods, and characteristics of sustainable products, services or systems capable of contributing to our happiness, hence shaping and promoting society towards sustainable lifestyles. It presents the first indications of the relationship between Happiness and Sustainable Design. The review of a vast array of phenomena (Happiness, Sustainable Lifestyles/Society, Sustainable Product Design, Consumption Behaviour, and the emerging Role of the Designer), shed light on this relationship, as well as making evident the social gap that represents within sustainable design. This led to the development of an Initial Theory to bridge this gap, which then proposed the development of new design theories and tools and also a radical evolution of the design discipline. Preliminary Testing with sustainable design thinkers validated this theory and pointed out other interesting avenues in order to develop and test it further. Subsequently, through an exploratory and iterative approach, with the Initial Theory at the heart of the research, the Design for Happiness workshop framework emerged and took shape. Two pilot studies and a first study facilitated its planning, development and implementation, which ultimately led to a strong Design Process and Tool-Kit. In addition, two Main Studies confirmed its effectiveness and put forward a robust conceptual design outcome; the trials of which demonstrated its success and high potential to contribute to Happiness and Sustainable Lifestyles. Overall, the results and findings of this research demonstrated that material changes can take place without having to do without social networks which feed our happiness. The Design for Happiness workshop framework is a practical proposal that encourages multidisciplinary groups to reinterpret the relationship between objects and users, hence approaching design from a different perspective that results in innovative conceptual designs. Here, the designer becomes a process facilitator who shares design tools, encouraging participation in the construction of collective and integrated design visions and scenarios. Creativity and Sustainability are pivotal pillars of this proposal and its success is anchored in its capacity to deliver a collection of experiences that contribute to happiness through the way in which they require people to live in general. It also challenges the evolution of the Design discipline and its consequential theoretical development. The relationship between Design, Sustainability and Happiness is new territory. This research is the first on the subject of Sustainable Design and Happiness, therefore offering a groundbreaking opportunity for design, designers, and its practical applications.

Resumen
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between income and happiness across three age groups: young (18-30 years), middle (31-64 years), and old (65 or older). Theory suggests that income has a positive effect on an individual’s sense of happiness. The data set in this study contains survey data conducted by European Social Survey on randomly selected Swedish citizens between the years 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018. The method used in this analysis is performed using a Generalized Ordered Logit model with happiness as the dependent variable. The result shows, after controlling for sociodemographic variables, that income has a positive significant association with happiness in all three age groups. Those with a higher income were more likely to be very happy compared to those in the lowest income group. The study also finds that, for some income levels, there exists a difference in how happiness is affected by income between the middle and old age group while no significant difference was found between the young and old age group.

ABSTRACT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ATTACHMENT STYLES AND PERFECTIONISM IN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Saya, Pelin M.S., Department of Educational Sciences Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Gü
l Aydin July, 2006, 81 pages The main purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between attachment styles and perfectionism as a function of gender in Turkish high school students. Factor structure of Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale in Turkish high school was also investigated. Four hundred and ninety five 11th grade high school students from four different state high schools in Ankara participated in the study. Turkish versions of Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS, Oral, 1999) and Relationship Scale Questionnaire (RSQ, Sü
mer &

ngö
r, 1999b) were administered to students to collect data in the class settings. Factor analysis was employed to MPS items to identify the dimensions of perfectionism as perceived by the participants. Factor analysis revealed three factors named self-oriented perfectionism, other-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism. A 2 (gender) x 4 (attachment styles) factorial MANOVA was conducted to examine the possible associations between attachment styles and perfectionism and, whether such a relationship varies as a function of gender. The results of the MANOVA revealed no significant relationship between attachment styles and perfectionism as a function of gender.

Ram, Alison. "The Relationship of Positive and Negative Perfectionism to Academic Achievement, Achievement Motivation, and Well-Being in Tertiary Students". Thesis, University of Canterbury. Psychology, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/1300.

Texto completo
Resumen
The relationship between positive and negative perfectionism, and academic achievement, motivation and well-being in tertiary students was investigated. It was hypothesized that higher levels of positive perfectionism would be associated with higher academic achievement, higher achievement motivation, lower levels of depression, anxiety and stress, the use of more adaptive coping strategies, and positive personality variables, compared with negative perfectionists. Additionally, it was hypothesized that higher levels of negative perfectionism would be associated with lower levels of academic achievement, lower achievement motivation, higher levels of depression, anxiety and stress, the use of more maladaptive coping strategies, and negative personality variables. 99 first year tertiary students participated, 71 from the University of Canterbury, and 28 from the Christchurch College of Education. The Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) was used to measure positive, negative and total levels of perfectionism. The short-form of the Ray Achievement Orientation Scale (Ray AO) was used to measure the level of achievement motivation. The NEO Personality Inventory (NEO PI) was used to measure the "Big Five" personality variables (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience). The Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS) was used to measure levels of positive and negative affect. The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) was used to measure levels of depression, anxiety and stress. The COPE was used to measure the use of functional and dysfunctional coping strategies. Demographic and academic information were obtained from student's academic files. The results indicated that, generally, the hypotheses were correct. Positive perfectionism showed associations with higher academic achievement, higher achievement motivation, positive personality factors, and more use of functional forms of coping, while negative perfectionism showed associations with negative affect, depression, anxiety, stress, negative personality factors, and more use of dysfunctional coping strategies. It is therefore concluded that positive perfectionism can have a positive association with academic achievement, achievement motivation and general well-being, while negative perfectionism can have a negative association with these factors. Many individuals are concerned with meeting high standards for performance. Consequently, the concept of perfectionism has been studied increasingly in the last few decades. The concept has evolved to now being formally defined, theoretically integrated and empirically measured (Flett & Hewitt, 2002a; Flett & Hewitt, 2002b; Rheaume, Freeston, Dugas, Letarte & Ladouceur, 1995).

Ganske, Kathryn Hollingsworth. "The Relationship between Counselor Trainee Perfectionism and Working Alliance with Supervisor and Client". Digital Archive @ GSU, 2008. http://digitalarchive.gsu.edu/cps_diss/25.

Texto completo
Resumen
Perfectionism in the counselor trainee has the potential to undermine counseling self-efficacy and relationships with client and supervisor (Arkowitz, 1990). Perfectionism is defined as “a predilection for setting extremely high standards and being displeased with anything less” (Webster’s II New College Dictionary, 1995, p. 816). In this study, 143 counselor trainees and 46 supervisors (46 supervisor-trainee dyads) completed surveys designed to assess the relationships between adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism and counseling self-efficacy, the working alliance between supervisor and trainee, as well as the working alliance between trainee and client. Trainee participants completed the Almost Perfect Scale – Revised (Slaney, Rice, Mobley, Trippi, & Ashby, 2001), the Self-Efficacy Inventory (Friedlander & Snyder, 1983), the Supervisory Working Alliance Inventory – Trainee Version (Efstation, Patton & Kardash, 1990) and the Working Alliance Inventory – Short Form Therapist Version (Horvath, 1991). Supervisor participants completed the Supervisory Working Alliance Inventory – Supervisor Version (Efstation, Patton & Kardash, 1990). Results indicated that maladaptive perfectionism was positively correlated with working alliance between trainee and client (r = -.261, p = .002) and positively correlated with the working alliance between supervisor and trainee (from the perspective of the supervisor, r = -.345, p = .019). Results also demonstrated evidence for counseling self-efficacy as a significant moderator between adaptive perfectionism and the supervisory working alliance (from the perspective of the trainee) and between maladaptive perfectionism and the supervisory working alliance (from the perspective of the supervisor). Supervisors should consider perfectionism in counselor trainees as this may affect counseling self-efficacy and working alliances between supervisor and trainee as well as between trainee and client.

Crosby, Jesse M. "Examination of the Relationship Between Perfectionism and Religiosity as Mediated by Psychological Inflexibility". DigitalCommons@USU, 2010. https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/etd/581.

Texto completo
Resumen
The relationship between perfectionism and religiosity is clarified when the adaptive and maladaptive dimensions of both constructs are compared. Literature in both areas implicates the idea of a rigid and inflexible personality style as a possible mediator in the relationship. This investigation examined the relationship of perfectionism and religiosity, using adaptive and maladaptive dimensions, as mediated by psychological inflexibility. Measures of perfectionism, religiosity, and psychological inflexibility were given to 376 undergraduate college students in an anonymous online survey. Adaptive perfectionism was found to be significantly correlated with adaptive religiosity. Maladaptive perfectionism was found to be significantly correlated with maladaptive religiosity. Psychological inflexibility was found to be significantly correlated with the maladaptive dimensions of both perfectionism and religiosity. It was also shown to mediate the relationship between maladaptive religiosity and maladaptive perfectionism using the test of mediation proposed by Baron and Kenny. Implications and future directions are discussed.

Resumen

Perfectionism has been referred to as “the tyranny of the should” (Horney, 1950). Decades of research has provided links between the personality constructs of perfectionism and locus of control and depression. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential for locus of control orientation to contribute to the relationship between perfectionism and depression, primarily focusing on a “middle” group (neither internal, nor external locus of control). Results indicate that the “middle” group for locus of control are less likely to have depressive symptoms when paired with perfectionism.

Resumen
The purpose with the study was to investigate some of the factors thatmight contribute to the development of exercise dependence. This byinvestigating if self-esteem works as a mediator in the relationshipbetween perfectionism and exercise dependence. We conducted anonline survey among regular exercisers in Sweden (N = 177). Themediating analysis showed that self-esteem partially explained theassociation between perfectionism and exercise dependence. That is,self-esteem can help clarify the nature of the relationship. In conclusion, this study reveals that it is important to further investigate theunderlying psychological mechanisms to why some people are exercise dependent.

Maqubela, Loyiso. "The relationship between friendship quality, masculinity ideology and happiness in men's friendship". Master's thesis, University of Cape Town, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/6851.

Texto completo
Resumen
Friendships are voluntary, reciprocal relationships that consist of a number of provisions such as intimacy, companionship and help. These provisions or dimensions help to form, maintain and strengthen these friendships. This study has examined the claim that certain types of friendship are related to happiness, and that men's and women's friendships differ. It did so by comparing men and women in terms of the three aforementioned friendship dimensions as well as happiness. This study further investigated whether or not masculinity ideology functioned as a mediator between the dimensions of friendship and happiness. Male (n=140) and female (n=194) students from the University of Cape Town (UCT) completed the Friendship Qualities Questionnaire, which measured their scores on companionship, intimacy, help, positive affect, negative affect, satisfaction with life, and masculinity ideology. Overall happiness scores were calculated using each participant's standardised scores on measures of positive affect, negative affect and satisfaction with life. T-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests revealed that women scored significantly higher than men on measures of intimacy, help and companionship. Women also scored significantly higher than men on the satisfaction with life measure. Despite this, men and women were not significantly different in terms of their overall happiness scores. Path analysis revealed that masculinity ideology did not function as a mediator between friendship dimensions and happiness for men. However certain path coefficients were found to be significant. For men, the path between intimacy and masculinity ideology was significant as was the path between help and happiness. Additional analyses on women revealed that the paths between companionship and happiness as well as help and happiness were significant. These findings suggest that masculinity ideology does affect the expression of intimacy between men in their friendships. The findings further suggest that help is one of the most important dimensions in friendships as it is significantly related to happiness for both genders.

Texto completo
Resumen
Ought we to enhance our cognitive capacities beyond the normal human range? There is no denying that it might be a good idea to level out differences between people with respect to cognitive capacities, and there is no denying that some persons' reaching beyond normal capacities may have some good side-effects on society at large (but also bad side-effects, of course). But is there any direct gain to be made by having ones cognitive capacities enhanced? Will this as such make our lives go better? No, I argue, or, at least, there doesn't seem to exist any evidence suggesting that it would. And it doesn't matter whether we consider the question from a narrow hedonistic perspective, from a more refined hedonistic perspective, from a desire-satisfaction view, or if we adopt some reasonable objective list view of what makes a life go well. Only on an extremely perfectionist — and implausible —view of what makes our lives go well could any direct value in cognitive enhancement find support. Finally, there are no good reasons to do with our sense of identity to enhance even our capacity to remember. So, cognitive enhancement as such would not make our lives go any better.

Resumen
Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between perfectionism and quality of life in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It was hypothesised that people with IBS who score highly on perfectionism will experience a poor quality of life, and that perseverative thinking will mediate this relationship. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional design was used. Online questionnaires were completed by 418 adults with a diagnosis of IBS. Perfectionism was measured using Hewitt & Flett's Self-Orientated and Socially Prescribed Perfectionism subscales. Other measures included The Perseverative Thinking Questionnaire and IBS Quality of Life. Correlational and regression analyses were performed in SPSS and mediation analyses using Hayes PROCESS for bootstrapping. Results: Self-Orientated and Socially Prescribed Perfectionism were both found to predict poorer IBS quality of life. Perseverative thinking was found to mediate the relationship between both dimensions of perfectionism and IBS quality of life. Moreover, these associations remained after accounting for the effects of age, gender, comorbidity and duration of IBS. Conclusions: People with IBS who have elevated levels of perfectionism are likely to suffer poorer quality of life, and this is mediated through perseverative thinking. This suggests perfectionism and perseverative thinking are possible perpetuating factors of IBS. Clinicians should consider specifically assessing and targeting these areas for intervention among people with IBS.

Medrano, Karla. "THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORKLOAD AND COGNITIVE OVERLOAD: SELF-EFFICACY, PERFECTIONISM, AND RESILIENCE AS POTENTIAL MODERATORS". CSUSB ScholarWorks, 2015. https://scholarworks.lib.csusb.edu/etd/241.

Texto completo
Resumen
The present study investigated whether there is a relationship between workload and cognitive overload with self-efficacy, perfectionism, and psychological resilience as possible moderators. Cognitive Load Theory states that individuals have a finite amount of working memory. When the working memory load has reached its maximum, individuals experience cognitive overload. Employees with a higher workload receive higher amounts of information, increasing their cognitive load, thus being more likely to reach cognitive overload. However, self-efficacious individuals, perfectionists, and resilient individuals are more motivated to reach their goals and will persevere despite obstacles. Therefore, I proposed that perceived workload and perceived cognitive overload would be correlated and that self-efficacy, perfectionism, and resilience would moderate that relationship. Using a web-based questionnaire, 278 adults working at least 25 hours per week were given a series of self-report measures about their perceived workload, cognitive overload, self-efficacy, perfectionism, and resilience. Workload was found to be positively correlated with cognitive overload, but self-efficacy, perfectionism, and resilience did not moderate the relationship between workload and cognitive overload. Subsequent analyses provide limited support that level of education moderates the workload-cognitive overload relationship. As personal characteristics do not moderate the relationship between workload and cognitive overload, management in organizations will want to explore different ways to affect the perceived workload of their employees.

Resumen
Over the past decade, economists and policy makers have become increasingly interested in the relationship between income, economic growth and happiness. Drawing on the existing literature and empirical evidence, this research seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the complex relationship between income and subjective well-being. This research uncovers a paradoxical relationship between income and subjective well-being. Specifically, at a point in time, both within and across nations, happiness varies directly with income, but over time, happiness does not increase when a country’s income increases. This paradoxical relationship can be attributed to 'internal’ and 'external’ income comparisons and the effects these comparisons have on material aspirations and satisfaction judgements. As such, this research finds that relative income, in addition to one’s own absolute income, is an important determinant of individual subjective well-being. Moreover, this research provides evidence of a possible causal relationship between income, relative income and subjective well-being. Overall, this research makes a valuable contribution to the literature by bringing together a diverse range of empirical evidence and theoretical arguments to form a holistic and indepth understanding of the complex relationships and processes at work.

Resumen
The purpose of this study is two-fold: (1) to examine the correlation between frequency of sexual activity and general happiness among older Americans and (2) to examine the correlation between frequency of sexual activity and marital happiness among older married Americans. This study employed quantitative data drawn from the 2004-2008 General Social Surveys. Two samples were used. The first sample included all respondents 65 years of age and older with valid responses for the dependent, independent, and control variables. The second sample was a subset of the first and included only the married respondents. Both bivariate cross-tabulations and binary logistic regression analyses were conducted. As expected, the data support a positive association between sexual activity and general happiness in both the total elder sample and the married elder sample (p < 0.05). Also, as expected, the data support a positive association between frequency of sexual activity and marital happiness in the married elder sample (p < 0.05). Even with the introduction of control variables, frequency of sexual activity was found to be a significant predictor of both general and marital happiness (p < 0.05). This study suggests that sexual activity does indeed contribute the happiness and well-being of older Americans.

The Relationship Between Perfectionism and Work Effort Abstract The document about relationship between perfectionism and effort hasn’t been discussed by scholar so far. Moreover, the research of perfectionism and effort mainly focused on non-workplace. However, in this study, we extend it to the workplace. Investigating the three dimensions of perfectionism about employees, includes: discrepancy, high standards and order to analysis the relationship between perfectionism and work effort. We have accomplished this research by doing the survey over 500 questionnaire sheets. As a result, 472 sheets were returned, 210 sheets were valid, the valid rate was 42%. We found out that relationship between the discrepancy of perfectionism and work effort is negative by running correlation and regression analysis using SPSS system. In the other hand, the relationship between the high standards of perfectionism and work effort is positive. Meanwhile, the relationship between the order of perfectionism and work effort is positive. According to these data, the relationship between perfectionism and work effort was discussed in this study, which might be a valuable source for management practices and research in the future. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationships of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism, goal orientation and athlete burnout. A total of 254 high-school athletes were recruited for the study and completed multi-dimensional perfectionism scale (MPS, Frost, 1990), the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ; Raedeke &; Smith, 2001), and the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ; Duda &; Nicholls, 1989). Regression analyses showed that maladaptive perfectionism positively predicted ego goal orientation and athlete burnout. In addition, adaptive perfectionism was also found to positively predict task goal orientation while task goal orientation negatively predicted athlete burnout. The results partially supported the research hypothesis, and the findings were discussed, application and future research directions were also proposed.

Resumen
As a new generation of employees floods the market, loyalty has been redefined. The days of employees staying in one organisation for their entire career are long gone. Loyalty is now shown by the amount of effort and dedication that is put into the job at that moment in time. With that said, organisations need to find ways to retain employees for as long as possible by ensuring that employees feel ownership towards their jobs, are engaged and happy. In order to achieve this, organisations should shift their focus towards positive organisational behaviour and positive psychology as a preventative approach to retaining employees. The outcome could result in happy, engaged employees who possess psychological ownership towards their jobs. The ideal outcome for organisations is for employees to remain with the organisation for as long as possible. The purpose of this study was twofold; first, it aimed to investigate if there was a positive relationship between psychological ownership, work engagement and happiness and secondly, whether psychological ownership can predict work engagement and consequently the happiness of employees in the organisation. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional survey design was used on a non-probability purposive sample (N = 365) consisting of professional, white-collar employees in the professional services industry in an audit firm in South Africa. The data for the study were collected by using a questionnaire containing a combination of measuring instruments such as the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Well-being Questionnaire for the measurement of happiness, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and the Psychological Ownership Questionnaire. Pearson product-moment correlations and structural equation modelling confirmed significant positive relationships between psychological ownership, work engagement and happiness. It showed that psychological ownership acted as a predictor of work engagement, which had an influence on happiness.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship among perfectionism, attachment and life adjustment in university students. The survey data were collected from 327 students in northern Taiwan. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and multiple regression analysis. 1. The findings of the study indicated that maladaptive perfectionism and attachment were correlated to each other. Maladaptive perfectionism was affected by attachment style more than adaptive perfectionism. 2. Students’ attachment and life adjustment were correlated to each other. Secure attachment reflects better adjustment than insecure attachment. Secure attachment tends to exhibit positive self-assertiveness and more resources from family, friends and teachers at school. 3. Perfectionists experience psychological symptoms. Adaptive Perfectionists have better adjustment than those with maladaptive perfectionism. Adaptive Perfectionists tends to have positive self-assertiveness and more resources from family, friends and teachers at school. 4. Student’s degrees of perfectionism and attachment could predict their life adjustment with about 43% accuracy.

Research background & aims: Nowadays, as men and women usually devote themselves to both work and family, there might be conflicts between work and family. Therefore how to have good adjustment is an important topic. Some research have already pointed out that individual differences may moderate the relation between the WFC (including work interfere with family and family interfere with work) and its consequences, but without investigation on specific personality traits. Perfectionism refers to the personality traits such as caring about achievements or striving for high personal standards, which should have both positive and negative influences in the work and family domains. The aim of this research was to explore whether perfectionism, like other personality traits, moderated the relation between work-family conflict and subjective well-being. Methods: 317 full-time workers in the north and north-east of Taiwan participated in the research. The research used the survey method and the questionnaire consisted of the Work-Family Conflict Scale, Work Satisfaction Scale, Family Satisfaction Scale, Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), and the Chinese Version of the Almost Perfect Scale – Revised. All the measures had been granted permission to use only for this research. In order to examine the hypotheses testing, the data were analyzed by using Pearson product–moment correlation and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Only maladaptive perfectionism moderated the relation between the WFC and life satisfaction, and that of the WFC and positive and negative affect difference. Within different ranges of the WFC, maladaptive perfectionism moderated the above relations in different ways. Discussion: Results indicated that there were different moderation effects of maladaptive perfectionism between the WFC and subjective well-being. Perhaps when one experienced the stressful situation which one could control well, maladaptive perfectionism might lead someone to use emotion-focused copying styles such as denial or avoidance. Therefore in order to treat clients with high maladaptive perfectionism, psychologists must understand the degree of the conflicts, and make suitable plans for the clients through discussing with them, helping them understand themselves, developing other coping skills, and increasing their resources to deal with the stresses. Future research may focus on the positive direction of the work-family interface, other structures of perfectionism, or the effects of other demographic variables on the WFC.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship for Adolescences among Parenting Style, Dual autonomy and Perfectionism. The participants were 808 students in high schools of southern Taiwan, which completed the subject with “Personal Information”, “Parenting Style Scale”, “Adolescent Autonomy Scale”, and “Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS)”. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test (χ2 test), t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson product-moment correlation, two-way ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression respectively. The main findings were shown as following: 1. The adolescent feels medium-to-high level of “Responsiveness” from “Parenting Style”, and “Demandingness” is medium. 2. The adolescent scores medium-to-high level of “Dual autonomy (individuating & relating)”, and that "individuation" is higher than "relating ". 3. The “Positive striving” perfectionism for adolescents is significantly higher than “maladaptive evaluation concerns “perfectionism. 4. As for feeling the “Centered-type parenting style” by father, male adolescents is much higher than female adolescents; as for feeling the “Neglecting type parenting style” by mother, neutral-gender adolescents is much higher than female-gender adolescents. 5. For “Individuation autonomy”, male adolescents and gender as male both get higher score than female adolescents. . 6. For“Positive striving” perfectionism, male adolescents with the higher level than female, but no differ for gender identify. 7. As affecting the development of adolescent Perfectionism, the "Parenting style" is greater than "Dual-autonomy". 8. For “Parenting Style”, as affecting the development of adolescent Perfectionism, the "Authoritarian type" is greater than "Centered type" and “Neglecting type”. 9. For “Parenting Style”, as affecting the development of adolescent Perfectionism, the “Authoritarian type” is greater than “Neglecting type". 10. There is the significant correlation between adolescent “Dual-autonomy development” and “Perfectionistic Strivings development”. 11. The adolescents “Dual-autonomy” is the best way to forecast the level of “Perfectionistic Strivings”. 12. As developing the “Perfectionistic Concerns” for adolescents with low “Dual-autonomy”, the impact from authoritative parents is greater than others. According to the research findings, this article provides some suggestions for Adolescences, Parents, Counseling professionals and Educators in school, and the other related studies in the future.

The present study examined the relationships among romantic perfectionism, couples’ interpersonal perception and relationship satisfaction in a sample of 440 heterosexual Taiwanese university and graduate students in dating relationships longer than a three-month period. The findings were threefold: first, self-oriented romantic perfectionism and partner-oriented romantic perfectionism were negative predictors of relationship satisfaction; second, couples’ interpersonal perception (the perception that few active love and protection, few affirmation and considerable attack and neglect were provided by one’s partner) mediated the negative predictive relationship between romantic perfectionism (self-oriented romantic perfectionism and partner-oriented romantic perfectionism) and relationship satisfaction; third, compared to self-oriented romantic perfectionism, partner-oriented romantic perfectionism was more detrimental to relationship satisfaction; had higher percentages of explained variance in couples’ interpersonal behavior; had stronger mediating effect on the negative predictive relationship between romantic perfectionism and relationship satisfaction. Limitations, future research directions, and guidance and counseling implications of these findings are discussed.

Most athletes went through a longtime of intense training starting from teenager years to adulthood, In order to pursue excellence and leave a good impression from their coaches, they tend to over-train themselves when they are under a great deal of pressure and play in an intense schedule. This not only affects their performance in the game, but also lowers their self-confidence, thus making them more prone to burnout. Lots of people tried to be perfect on many aspects of their lives, but according to the research by Gould, Tuffey, Udry and Loehr (1996a,1996b,1997). Athlete’s Perfectionism is one of main reason that leads to athlete burnout. The main objectives of this study are - 1. To get an overview of the perfectionism and athlete burnout from professional baseball players. 2. To study perfectionism and athlete burnout from different background variables. 3. To understand the relation between perfectionism and athlete burnout from professional baseball players. This study is based on athlete burnout questionnaires replied from 126 professional players in Taiwan, and 3 professional players oversea. The questionnaires were filled out during February and March this year. The result shows that the more players are inclined to neurotic perfectionism, the more likely they are prone to athlete burnout. The result from this study matches the results from many other researchers. We suggest team owner to adjust salary structure, and provide psychological counseling in order to reduce athlete burnout.

Research background & aims: Considering researches have brought the inconsistent connection between perfectionism and psychophysical adaptation, this study based on the diathesis-stress model and hypothesized perfectionism can be a predisposing factor to relate with subjective stress, coping style, and psychophysical adaptation. The first purpose of this study was to construe the comprehensive perfectionism concept and to develop the Bi-mode Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. The second purpose of this study was to formulate the conceptual model to test the different dimensions of perfectionism were distinctly related with particular types of subjective stress, coping style and psychophysical outcome variables. The third purpose of this study was based on the conceptual model to examine weather types of subjective stress and coping style could mediate or moderate the relation between perfectionism and stress adaptation. Finally, this study examined the predictive utility of demographic variables, perfectionism, and coping styles in accounting for variance in subjective stress, and also examined the predictive utility of demographic variables, perfectionism, coping style, and subjective stress by conducting stepwise multiple regression analysis. Methods: Four hundred undergraduate students from a private university in Taiwan were asked to complete a package questionnaire that included the Bi-mode Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Adjustment Check List, the Coping Style Scale, the Proactive Coping Scale, the Zung’s Depression and Anxiety scale, the Positive Affect Scale, and Satisfaction With Life Scale. All subjects individually completed the measures in small group sessions. Item analysis and factor analysis were conducted to develop the Bi-mode Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. To examine the conceptual model of this study, the Pearson product-moment correlation, a series of hierarchical multiple regression analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results: 1.The perfectionism construct was formulated and constituted bi-mode feature (i.e. adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism) and each mode included in three-dimension of perfectionism (i.e. self-oriented, socially prescribed, and other-oriented perfectionism), so in this study perfectionism could be divided into six categories. 2.Maladaptive perfectionism was significantly associated with maladaptive coping style and negative psychophysical outcome, but unassociated with adaptive coping style. Adaptive perfectionism was significantly associated with adaptive coping style, but unassociated with maladaptive coping style and negative psychophysical outcomes. 3.The bi-mode or the three-dimension perfectionism demonstrated different predictive utility when predicting particular types of subjective stress, coping style, and psychophysical outcome variables. So the six categories of perfectionism demonstrated in current validity on adaptive effect. 4.Subjective stress mediated the relation between maladaptive perfectionism and various psychophysical outcomes, and subjective stress moderated the relation between adaptive perfectionism and psychophysical outcome of depression or anxiety. 5.Coping styles could mediate and moderate the relation between maladaptive perfectionism and subjective stress, and coping styles just moderated the relation between adaptive perfectionism and subjective stress. 6. Coping styles could mediate the relation between maladaptive perfectionism and psychophysical outcomes, and also mediate the relation between adaptive perfectionism and psychophysical outcomes. 7. Results of stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that the full regression model for predicting different types of subjective stress accounted for the variance between 6.3% and 42.2%, and the full regression model for predicting different psychophysical outcome variables accounted for the variance between 24.3% and 57.0%. Conclusions: These results expanded our knowledge of perfection personality. According to the conceptual model of present research, we realized the influence and the link from specific dimensions of perfectionism to particular types of subjective stress, coping style, and psychophysical outcome. And we offered suggestions about the clinical application in psychophysical stress assessment and treatment. In other word, based on the diathesis-stress model, we could consider the influence of perfectionism on stress and coping. Moreover, we discussed the influence of three-dimension maladaptive perfectionism on depression and anxiety when stress and coping being the mediator and moderator, and the influence of three-dimension adaptive perfectionism on psychophysical health when stress and coping being the mediator and moderator.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among socially prescribed perfectionism, stress and worry with a SEM analysis. We used the following instruments to assess examined variables: (a) Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS; Frost Marten, Lahart, &; Rosenblate, 1990), (b) Irrational Beliefs Inventory (IBI; Bridges &; Sanderman, 2002) and (c) Perceived Stress Scale (PSS; Cohen &; Williamson, 1988). The results of our study suggested that higher socially prescribed perfectionism was associated with greater tendency of stress. Also, higher worry was associated with higher stress. The results of this study provided important management implications to understand the worry and to develop more effective ways to manage those employees with worry. We suggested that relevant professionals can use training program and work flexibility to help employees to lower their level of worry, in order to reduce the level of stress experienced by them.
