Throughout the latter half of the nineteenth century, attitudes towards children and childhood underwent a dramatic change. Children were moving out of the factories and into schools, thus raising their social status within their family. Technological advances in publishing and an increased niche market of newly literate children caused the children's literature market to flourish by the end of the nineteenth century, with books being increasingly marketed more towards children and stories being written to engage children more.

This thesis analyses religious controversy in late seventeenth - and early eighteenth-century Scotland, examining both the arguments of the educated elites and those of ordinary people. No study, to date, has systematically examined the interplay of social contact, depression, functional disability, and cardiovascular health when examining the relation between religious activity and all -cause mortality. This study used Cox regression models as well as a series of structural equation models to elucidate these relations and resultant mortality over a 5-year period. Resumen

The workings of admiration and adoration within individuals and the family as attitudes against self-interest were investigated. Interviews with American families in two New England states from ten Christian denominations (n = 20) were analyzed qualitatively. As a result, admiration was observed among almost all the families. Three means-end structures emerged in regard to spouses' configuration of the components of adoration, and these three groups of families indicated different features of family.
