Resumen
Amino silica gel functionalized with 2-hydroxy-5 -(2-hydroxybenzylideneamino)benzoic acid was synthesized, characterized and used as adsorbent for the removal of Ga3+, In3+ and Tl3+ from aqueous solution prior to their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Experimental parameters that affect the separation process were investigated in both batch and column modes. The maximum adsorption capacities of the sorbent are 61.7 mg g−1, 81.3 mg g−1 and 133.0 mg g−1 for Ga3+, In3+ and Tl3+, respectively. The preconcentration factor is 200 and the limits of detection of Ga3+, In3+ and Tl3+ are 4.10 μg L−1, 1.55 μg L−1 and 1.21 μg L−1, respectively. Interference by Al3+ can be masked by the addition of F−; and that of Fe3+ by its reduction to Fe2+ using 10% ascorbic acid. The method was successfully applied for the determination of these ions in water, sediments and liquid crystal display samples.

Resumen
Sulfur-doped titanium dioxide powders (SxTi1-xO2) was prepared by calcinations, that is, the hydrolysis of acidic tetra-butyl tianate using thiourea in ethanol, followed by calcinations at temperatures about 500°C. Based on the characterizations of XRD, BET, surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), electric-field-induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy (EFISPS) and XPS, it was found that the sulfur could restrain the crystallization transformation of TiO2 from anatase to rutile, although the calcinations temperature has attained 500°C, the crystallization still were anatase entirely. The catalysts exhibited photocatalytic activity in the visible light region owing to S-doping. The light absorption onset of SxTi1-xO2 was shifted to the visible region at 550nm compared to 329nm of pure TiO2. In the crystal, the S atoms occupied some of the lattice titanium atoms for form S-O bonds. Photocatalytic decomposition of benzoic acid solutions was carried out under simulated sun light, and the SxTi1-xO2 catalyst showed higher activity than pure TiO2.

Resumen
Thallium (Tl) is highly toxic in the environment. In order to solve the harm of Tl pollution to the environment, thiol-polystyrene microsphere (TPM) with good adsorption properties for Tl were prepared in this paper. The GAUSSIAN software was used to calculate the adsorption performance of the TPM on Tl+, and the adsorption mechanism was discussed. The thermogravimetric analysis show that the TPM prepared with chloromethyl polystyrene microspheres (CPM) and thiourea as the main raw materials has good chemical thermal stability. In the Tl+ solution of 1mg/L, the adsorption and removal rate of the TPMs in was 99%, with a significant adsorption of Tl+ properties. When the dosage of TPM is 0.4L/g, pH is 6-10, temperature is 5-20 °C, and adsorption time reaches 640min, thallium-containing water with Tl+ concentration of 5mg/L can be treated to within the national discharge standard (5μg/L). The analytical effect of 0.5mol/L dilute sulfuric acid on TPM can reach 99.96%, and the adsorption capacity of TPM on Tl+ is reduced by only 0.1% after repeated use 4 times, which has good regeneration performance. The modified polystyrene microspheres were characterized by EDS, FT-IR, Raman spectra and XPS, and it was proved that the TPM were ligated with Tl+ through the grafted mercapto group, so as to adsorb and remove Tl+ from the solution. According to the isotherm and kinetic model of TPM adsorption Tl+, the maximum saturated adsorption amount of TPM to Tl+ can reach 3.47mg/g, mainly chemical adsorption, and the membrane diffusion stage is the main control step of TPM adsorption Tl+. The results showed that the TPM could be a promising adsorbent with good adsorption capacity and reusability for Tl+ removal from wastewater

Resumen
Objective: In the present work, a variety of new heterocyclic compounds namely aza-β- lactam, cyclicimides, 1,3-thiazole, and 1,2,4-triazole.Methods: Procedure includes the synthesis of aza-β- lactam, cyclic imides, 1,3-thiazole, and 1,2,4-triazole. The synthesis was carried out in eleven steps using N-(Ñ-substituted phenylglycyl) saccharin derivatives (1a,b) as a starting material and converted to benzoic acid derivatives (2a,b) and then to ester derivatives (3a,b), which finally convers to benzohydrazide derivatives (4a,b). The cyclization of (4a,b) with carbon disulfide and hydrazine hydrate (80%) in the presence of potassium hydroxide gives 1,2,4-triazole compounds (5a,b), and subsequently (5a,b) derivatives reacted with different aromatic aldehydes in the presence of few drops of glacial acetic acid to give Schiff bases (6a-f). Compounds (7a-b) was prepared by the reaction of compounds (4a,b) with chloroacetyl chloride. 1,3-thiazole derivatives (8a,b) were synthesized through the cyclization of compounds (7a,b) with thiourea. Schiff bases (9a-f) were obtained by condensation of (4a,b) with different aromatic aldehydes in the presence of few drops of glacial acetic acid. Aza-β-lactam compounds (10a-f) were prepared by the cycloaddition of Schiff-bases (9a-f) with phenyl isocyanate through [2+2] cycloaddition reaction. Reaction (4a,b) with various acid anhydrides in presence of acetic acid gave the corresponding cyclic imide (11a-f). The newly prepared. Results: The results showed that compounds (5a) and (10e) have a good activity against Gram-positive bacterium and no activity against Gram-negative bacterium, compared to standard drugs (ciprofloxacin and amoxicillin), while compounds (8a) and (6b) have a high activity against fungi, compared to standard drugs (metronidazole benzoate), and the other tested compounds have low-to-moderate activity. Conclusion: 1,2,4-triazole is a most potent assemblage of Gram-positive bacterium retardants and cyclic imides are a most potent assemblage of fungi retardants.
