In a globalized market like the one currently lives, response at needs of customers and gain competitive advantage against the competition becomes increasingly difficult. The tool Lean Manufacturing has taken a particular emphasis on the industrial market, because it allows companies acts on waste and improve your flexibility, quality, responsiveness, efficiency and further reduce costs. This fact gives at companies more attractive to customers and percent of market. There are several tools to achieve the goals of Lean like the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The objectives of this project are to show the relationship between the TPM, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement and how they can create competitive advantage, show how TPM gives support to Lean, show how the implementation of TPM reaches zero-waste, show how it improves the efficiency of equipment and reliability of company, show how maintenance can help the TPM and also show the contribution of the operator for maintenance. The project describes the process of implementation of TPM and the results obtained in Simoldes Plásticos. The results of the study are satisfactory and show that the implementation of TPM offers a positive contribution to increasing the overall efficiency of the equipment. The TPM provides benefits for the organization, because it allows reducing waste and improving the competitive capacity of the company, however it only wins if everyone (from direction to operators) is engaged and cooperative.

This thesis introduces VMCStore, a framework for developing trusted storage applications on an untrusted server using a trusted platform module (TPM). The framework allows the server to provide trusted storage to a large number of clients, where each client may own and use several devices that may be offline at different times, and may not be able to communicate with each other, except through the untrusted server (over an untrusted network). The clients only trust the server's TPM; the server's BIOS, CPU, and OS are not assumed to be trusted. VMCStore draws on the ideas of virtual monotonic counters and validity proofs to provide tamper-evident storage, allowing the user to detect modifications to his data, as well as replay attacks. In particular, VMCStore uses TPM/J, a Java-based API for low-level access to the TPM, to create virtual monotonic counters using the monotonic counters and transport sessions of the TPM 1.2. VMCStore also provides a set of three log-based validation algorithms, which have been tested over PlanetLab and analyzed in this thesis. The VMCStore framework has been developed in a modular fashion, allowing the user to develop and test new applications and validation algorithms.

Most Brazilian Companies used to participate in a restricted market that was not so demanding. Due to the globalization process that takes place in some companies here in Brazil, these companies underwent through a period of big changes in order to fit themselves in the new worldwide economic order. This process of change has direct impacts on the organizations# posture. Within this context, a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) arises, which is characterized by its high production means availability and flexibility. In order to achieve this developed stage on manufacturing, industrial maintenance is a key element, which adapted to the global competition environment, characterizes World Class Maintenance. This work presents a review of the main available maintenance management systems on the market and describes the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) management system as the fundamental management system searching for the world class in maintenance processes. And purposes an application model to Balanced Scorecard (BSC) strategic management methodology in order to assist Planned Maintenance Pillar, which is responsible for the maintenance management in the TPM program, once adopted by a important company of continuous process in pulp and paper branch in Brazil. This methodology allows aligning the performance indicators with the proposal strategy for the pillar (vision, mission and objectives) in perspectives of financial, clients, internal process and learning and growing perspectives. Besides, it shows the dependency relationship (cause-effect) among the indicators adopted by the pillar in a strategic map, intending to support the decision for better actions (strategic initiatives) that the maintenance function must carry out. BSC stimulates the constant feedback of strategy, promoting the continuous improvement and showing a natural evolution in maintenance function management, which looks for reaching and sustain the world class pattern on its results.

There are several big losses in sawmills that are not addressed by the traditional operation feedback systems. It is strategic significant for organizations to address the question what need to be done in order to bee more effective. This work discusses methods of measurement the effectiveness with respect to maintenance and how the effectiveness can be measured by assessing the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The work also emphasizes on maintenance strategies and the process of implementing such a policy in sawing mills. During a period of six days assessments of OEE were made in five different sawmills. The results were that OEE in general were about 50 percent, which is considered low. By implementing a cost-effective maintenance policy, it will lead to increase the value of OEE for the process. Using a policy that will decrease the overall costs related to the six big looses could do these. Discussions the production stoppages and how these can be analyzed by using different tools, such as Ishikawa diagram are addressed. The work highlights that a systematic improvement work would increase appreciably the capacity utilized without any large investments. This study also describes how sawmills can be successful when increasing their effectiveness by selecting a cost-effective maintenance policy for their process.

Texto completoThe report is about setting up an Implementation plan for a structured maintenance work on Valmet ABs foundry in Karlstad. This work is the final part for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and takes place at Karlstad University in the spring of 2014. Valmet has recently bought the foundry at Lamberget in Karlstad. The maintenance work is much neglected and in the current state there is no good structure. The maintenance work is in need of systemization and integration into Valmets other maintenance organization. The purpose of the project is to develop a plan Implementation plan for a structured maintenance work on Valmet ABs foundry in Karlstad. The project is divided into three phases. - Situational analysis through both interviews of maintenance personnel and identifying the current equipment - Create a vision of how they want to work with maintenance through benchmarking against other similar businesses, and literature studies - Establishment of a plan for how to get there. What activities to be performed and in what order The work is based on the methodology TPM (total productive maintenance). However it is not about an implementation of TPM, but limited to certain parts. From interviews with the maintenance staff at the foundry, observational studies and an identification study of the machinery, a situational analysis has been made. This situation analysis has shown the problems and challenges that exist in the maintenance department at the foundry. A vision of how they want to work with maintenance on the foundry has been drawn, based on study visits and interviews with management staff. It is most vital that emerged in this phase is the importance of management commitment to implement a process of change. A good communication both between the different departments and within the group is also vital. Using the two phases above, together with the theory processed during the project, a plan has been established for a more structured maintenance. The plan includes 12 stages that addresses the activities that should be implemented, and in what order, in order to get a better structure on maintenance work at the foundry at Valmet. The two single most important elements of the plan are, in my mind, to hire a person who is responsible for the daily operations of the maintenance work. As well as to implement the maintenance system AM-underhåll, so you can get a better structure to the maintenance work in the form of work orders, metrics and history.

Texto completoThe pursuit for a greater competitiveness has brought changes in modern production, where there is an ongoing transition from labour-dependent production to an increased automation in production plants. The increase of automation and the advance of technology has meant that production equipment has become more sophisticated and complicated to maintain. The changes have brought greater demands on the dependability of production equipment in order to meet customer requirements and also maintain competitiveness. The execution of an effective maintenance has become an important factor in order to achieve a dependable production plant. Arla Foods Jönköping’s dairy plant works with both operator and specialist maintenance, where measurement on equipment are carried out and preventive maintenance plan has been developed. On the other hand, the empty-packaging-supplying system, which supplies empty cargo carriers to the packaging machines and to the cold storage warehouse, lacks a maintenance plan and therefore only emergency maintenance work are applied. The purpose of this study has been to develop a preventive maintenance plan for the empty-packaging-supplying system of rolltainers. This has taken alongside an interference analysis where interferences were mapped and then a proposal for action was devised. All data was obtained in Arla Foods Jönköping’s dairy plant, where the methods that were used are observations, interviews, workshops and document studies. Literature studies, that treats basic maintenance principles and Total Productive Management, TPM, where also performed in order to provide a theoretical basis for the study. The analysis covers a compilation of interferences, through a Pareto chart, where those interferences which affected the supplying system most could be identified. The analysis showed that 49,3 percent of all the interferences was due to rolltainers that got stuck on curves and defective rolltainers that went through controls and caused a stop of the supplying system. An analysis was also made of the current maintenance work and how the lack of a maintenance plan affects the supplying system. Based on the analysis, a proposal for action was devised for the two most prevalent interferences and a preventive maintenance plan for the supplying system was developed. With the help of literature studies, maintenance staffs competencies and the suppliers maintenance guide, a preventive maintenance plan was developed, where great emphasis was put on to not introduce an alien working method. Since the whole production works with RIS-boards and the personnel are familiar with them, it was viewed as a suitable working method. The maintenance plan consists of scorecards, RIS-cards, with instructions for each area, and will also serve as a checklist for the maintenance work to take place at the right time. In order for the maintenance work to be fulfilled a delegation of responsibility for the maintenance work has been made. The RIS-boards enables error reports to be made in a proper way, delegate responsibility and enables documentations of performed reparations. Furthermore, Arla Foods Jönköping is recommended to integrate the newly developed maintenance plan with SAP, which is an enterprise resource planning software, which the maintenance department is currently working with to perform preventive maintenance on the packaging machines. Also, an implementation of TPM should be applied throughout the whole organization, where the newly developed maintenance plan is considered to be a basis for achieving interference-free production through a structured approach and create a commitment in the organization to work together for continuous improvement efforts. In the long term, consideration should be given to reconstruct the rolltainer tracks and create more direct transportation tracks to avoid curves and the interferences they create.

Texto completoThe purpose with a TPM is to ease the workload for both the maintenance organization and the airline. Until today Norwegian has had problems caused by absence of clear directives how the administrative work between the maintenance organization and the airline should go on. Norwegian wants a manual where issues about responsibility distribution, working procedures and the way of business are clearly illustrated and described. In this project we have focused on a couple of chosen procedures as “Technical Log Procedure”, “Work Order Procedure” and “Spare Part Procedure”. We have tried to create an easy-lucid and user-friendly manual as a result of flowcharts and declaring pictures. The work has been performed in Norwegian´s head office at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

Texto completoTPC Components AB, which is located in Västerås is one of Europe's leading investment casting companies. At the present time, TPC is in a state where the demand is so high that the production does not have enough time to catch on and thus, they are trying to increase the production efficiency and identify the losses that are affecting. One way to follow up and measure production efficiency is the KPI OEE.The aim of this project was to help introduce the key figure OEE to TPC's production facility and to develop a simplified tool for calculating a value and being able to follow it up. This has been done through study visits, analysis of the company's data and a literature study on the subject. To gain easier access to the company's production-related data the group has been given an user account for the company’s administrative system, ERP Monitor. As a result of the data analysis, the group came to the conclusion that there is no data to calculate a reality-based OEE value. Nevertheless, the group has managed to create a tool that is adapted for TPC to calculate and visualize the value for the future. To develop a good tool, the group has used the programming language Python as a basis as well as other softwares such as Microsoft Excel.By using the tool, the group were able to calculate an OEE value for a workweek as well as visualizing it with the tools other functions. The measured OEE value is wrong and it is due to the lack of necessary data. The literature study shows that many companies see a challenge in implementing OEE because data collection can be difficult and time consuming.A handbook for OEE has also been created where simple descriptions of OEE and how the calculation is done. The handbook is aimed for workers to inform them about the things that can affect efficiency. Finally, the handbook provides some recommendations on which parameters that needs to be measured and registered in order to be able to implement OEEin the future for TPC.
Moscoso, Carlos, Alex Fernandez, Gino Viacava y Carlos Raymundo. "Integral model of maintenance management based on TPM and RCM principles to increase machine availability in a manufacturing company". Springer Verlag, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/656092.
Texto completoOne of the main problems existing in manufacturing companies is the high frequency of machine breakdowns and their high repair time. Therefore, over time, various maintenance strategies seeking to more efficiently manage the scheduled jobs have been presented. However, these are not always as effective as expected, because they are not properly applied, the resources are not available, or the strategy is not aimed at directly solving the problem. Based on the aforementioned, this paper proposes an integral model of maintenance management based on the principles of total productive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies in order to increase machine availability in a company in the manufacturing sector. To validate this proposal, a pilot project will be developed to measure the impact that is being sought.

Texto completoIn The Bad Mood of Premenstrual Syndrome: An interpretation of the feminine intends to show how representations of the feminine are constructed in relation to women s monthly cycle and to discuss some cultural significances concerning the upsetting of humor one of the symptoms of the syndrome commonly known as: "premenstrual tension". Grounded in the theoretical approach of the body and the physician `s glance as objects of the Social Sciences, that is, as social constructions, and guided by feminist studies, we analyzed two types of current discourses, concerning women s monthly cycles, located in the carioca middle social strata, in the beginning of the XXI century; that are said to act on, or to dialogue with this "hormonal body". The discourses follow two different directions: The first analyzed speech is a doctor s book, an example of self help literature, engaged in the discussion of "hormonal intelligence"; aiming to become a model of subjectification of the feminine, based on the doctor s -scientific eye. It proposes a kind of control on the body, organizing the feminine through essentialized ideas which universalize the bodies and deal with this feminine description as pre-determined by "Natural" body conditions. The second discourse is composed by a group of interviews carried out with female bank employees, registering a subjectifyied feminine. These speeches on the feminine everyday life reveal that, in spite of the articulation of corporal descriptions rooted in the biology and in the medical sciences, they nevertheless show other cultural representative meanings of the feminine, and thus demonstrates the importance of case studies that priories the agencing of the subject in the social construction of gender.

In an more and more competitive and industrialized market, it is essential that companies realize that the way forward must pass through optimizing their production processes, reducing the costs and increasing product quality. The maintenance has suffered a great evolution in the structure of companies, and has an increasingly important role for the performance of them. Was essentially from the application and development of concepts such as maintenance curative, preventive and predictive that was born the concept of TPM - Total Productive Maintenance. Deployed in Japan, it’s an approach that relies on actions on overall efficiency of the equipment’s, getting from these the highest performance possible. The application of TPM requires the involvement of all employees, through all the company, from administration, to the different operators. Regarding the use of tools to support the implementation of TPM, it was used tools such as 5S, Visual Management and PDCA cycle. Application of 5S and in the equipment’s organization and work areas surrounding. PDCA cycle in setting goals for the resolution of problems, always trying to look for an optimal solution. The Visual Management as support to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Texto completoThe company in the study was experiencing a problem when it comes to dealing with maintenance-work. The processes for bug tracking and ordering of spare parts is time con-suming and involves work from several different people. Most of all maintenance work performed is unplanned and a functioning follow-up work is missing. The purpose of the thesis was to help improving the company's efficiency by optimizing the maintenance work. This was achieved by a proposal for a maintenance system and vari-ous approaches to improve the maintenance work. During the project a maintenance log book was been designed in Excel. The log book is used to log all maintenance activities that occur in the production. These logs are the basis for most of the calculations carried out during the project. The calculations aimed to identify where in the process most errors occur and what the na-ture of those errors are. To demonstrate the potential of a maintenance system the profit opportunities that can be achieved through the implementation of a maintenance system and new working methods were calculated. The study resulted in a proposal for a maintenance system that suited the company's needs, situation and problems. In addition to the introduction of a maintenance system, it was also clear that the company needs to reduce the amount of unplanned downtime. To achieve this it is important to involve the operators with maintenance work and they shall perform all the works of the simpler kind. The maintenance department can then, thanks to the re-leased time, focus on finding the root causes of problems and perform scheduled mainte-nance to reduce the amount of unplanned maintenance. Improving the maintenance work and introduce Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a time consuming process that might go on for years. In order to facilitate the work and re-duce the risk of falling back into old habits an implementation model was designed for the TPM-work. The model is intended as a future work for the company to facilitate the work of reaching even higher efficiency.

improvement of 33 % for increased availability. Furthermore was a SMED analysis done where the main work of
analyzing was done together with the employees of the line. By a deeper analysis a classification of IED and
OED respectively could be done including even simplifications that led to a reducing of time for set up of 55
minutes and 43 seconds. Also tools like the Lean start up and communication, operator’s maintenance, 5S,
constant improvements have been studied. An efficiency analysis of the kaizen groups was done that shows that
a lack of motivation exists among the employees. The main explanation for this is that the company does not
have a plan for the organisation structure and neither a plan for implementation of new production forms. The
work contains an extended summary in English, German and Swedish.

In a global market as we are experiencing nowadays, the search for competitive advantages over its competitors is one of the required strategies for companies that intend to survive. This way, TPM provides the development of various methods, such as autonomous maintenance. This method resorts to different tools, in order to seek operators commitment to maintain optimal conditions for production and equipment performance. Through the development of standards like, cleaning, inspection and lubrication, equipment and process inspection routes, an interaction between the operator and the equipment is promoted, which is reflected in a psychological sense of ownership over the equipment, leading this feeling to an ongoing personal commitment . In an internship context, developed at Danone Portugal, this project will exposes an autonomous maintenance practical approach and present the study results of an assess of the company operators psychological sense of ownership. The results of the study confirmed the existence of a psychological sense of psychological ownership, revealing as well the existence of a culture that promotes this feeling rather than a culture that prevents it. In practice, this reflects a greater propensity for teamwork as opposed to individual work.
The maintenance has assumed a leading role in industrial activity, since it is this area that enables to production a continuous flow of activity, reducing downtime of equipment. The historical evolution shows this progress and the importance of maintenance in industries, though currently there is a decrease in costs associated with this sector due to the global economic crisis. The TPM emerges as an approach to maintenance management, in which some of the maintenance tasks are transferred to the production sector. It is on this point that the project developed on Trecar focuses on, which featured various stages of deployment, from the definition of operations that were part of the program, to training and qualification of operators in operations TPM. During the various phases, it was also important to create job sheets and prepare them with the necessary tools and materials to perform the operations. The results, though a little premature, show the importance of such a tool in the management of manufacturing equipment. By implementing TPM, operators were more careful and even more interested in the operation of equipment in their workplaces, which helped towards gain greater autonomy and even willingness to resolve situations themselves some downtime machines. The implementation clearly allowed the passage of maintenance operations for the production, thus allowing an autonomous maintenance by operators. This autonomous maintenance allowed the reduction of downtime of some equipment and TPM program also created a larger attitude of preventive equipment maintenance, with positive repercussions in the medium - long term.

Thesis, Linköping University, Department of Management and Engineering, 2008. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-12448.
If Swedish companies are to compete with companies in low-cost countries they have to achieve a more efficient production. The purpose of Total Productivity Maintenance (TPM) is to increase the company's profitability by increasing the productivity. TPM is a method that involves all employees and aims to prevent failures in order to increase the availability of existing equipment.
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the implementation process of TPM and give recommendations for the further implementation process. The conclusion and the analysis are based on a case study done at a production department at ABB Cewe-Controls facilities in Nyköping. The case study consists mainly of qualitative data from participation observations, surveys and interviews.
Commitment of the management is a key factor in the implementation process of TPM. The management of ABB Cewe-Control need to demonstrate their commitment in order for a change to happen. The case study shows that the commitment of both employee and management must be raised if the implementation process is to be successful. To avoid unnecessary conflicts or irritation in the further implementation process it is important to clarify responsibilities and roles in the implementation of TPU.
The case study has also shown that the training during the implementation process has not been sufficient. Proper training is needed to be able to conduct the implementation process of TPM in an effective manner. Proper training is also needed to raise the motivation of the staff.
Business Development is ABB’s methodology for the improvement work in the company. Business Development is a well-known concept in the organisation and has a well-defined connection with the company's strategic objectives. Because of this there is no reason why the improvement work and how it has been done should change. Business Development is a good foundation for the implementation of TPM and the improvement work in the future.

Texto completoThis research aims to analyze the social representation of women constructed discursively in the editorials of the Tpm womens magazine focused on verification of interdiscursive relations established by the authorial voice and the definition of the journals ideal reader through the resources of dialogic contraction and expansion. The purpose of the analysis is to identify how the Tpm magazine contributes or not, as a communication vehicle, to changes in the social landscape of gender inequality. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research was guided by Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) focusing on the analysis model proposed by Norman Fairclough (2004, 2010, 2012) and by the Appraisal Theory (MARTIN e WHITE, 2005) anchored in the perspective of Michael Hallidays (2014 [1985]) Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). Regarding the rationale, we seek to make contributions both in the scope of Language Studies and the social scope, given that issues of gender and representation in the print media are addressed, oriented towards a critical and discursive reflection that leads to a real social change and to female empowerment. The Engagement analysis shows a greater occurrence of dialogical contraction instead of dialogical expansion in the editorials, which reveals a high content of commitment of the author voice. In addition to these mechanisms, on which the linguistic analysis focus, the examination of the subsystems of Attitude and Graduation evidenced that many discourses and gender stereotypes that contribute to the maintenance and to the inequality of power between the sexes are total or partially rejected by the magazine, while some conceptions of reality aligned with gender equality oriented positions are endorsed and defended by the the author voice. The results show, therefore, that there is intention of change and potential to transform some stereotyped conceptions about behavior and values that reiterate sexist patterns of thought regarding the representation of the woman by the periodic. Thus, ideologically, Tpm magazine puts itself in opposition to the discourse of the traditional womens magazines and approaches some feminist positions, such as individual autonomy, questioning of beauty standards and the defense of the legalization of abortion. However, the magazine has limits that need to be broken for social change and more meaningful policies regarding the representation of women. These limits mainly refers to the issue of consumption. Committed to advertisers, the publication loses complete freedom to break patterns. Thus, while Tpms ideal reader the main model of woman represented by the magazine distances itself in the ideological point of view from women represented by most womens magazines and the mass media in general, she presents many points of convergence with them with regard to the socio-cultural profile, as remains a cisgender woman, white, heterosexual, upper-middle class, resident of the richest urban areas of Brazil and concerned with issues related to individual freedom.

This research examines the discursive dislocation undertaken by the women s magazine TPM, launched in 2001, regarding the models of women present in other women magazines that have become hegemonic, such as Claudia, Nova and Marie Claire. The hypothesis of the research is that TPM is built as an antagonistic force, printing an opening from the standard model of femininity and the way of doing women s magazines. We rely on two methodological approaches: analysis of issues of the magazine and research with the reading audience. The analyzed corpus covers eight years of the magazine s history, totaling 86 editions, published from January 2007 to December 2014. The qualitative empirical research was carried using focal group discussion techinque and presential individual interviews, with ten participant readers. Both approaches culminate in a critical analysis of the visibility schemes proposed on the magazine s communication contract. The discursive dispute established by TPM magazine was designed from the discourse theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The steady discourse of women s magazines was set in the first chapter, by privileged signifiers romance, care, beauty, home life, independence, work and freedom. The second chapter maps in thematic blocks the research corpus. The discussions held by the readers are systematized in the third chapter, by the axies of expectations, frustrations and the relationship of love and hatred they establish with the magazine. The last chapter analyzes comparatively TPM s communication contract, concluding that its convocation appeals to uniqueness

The goal of the study is to practicing Toyota Production system (TPS) and to deploying production management activities to organizations by means of total participation of employees. Through production activities that adopt“just-in-time”as a measure, treat material and information flow as critical information to reduce safety quantity of stock, and discussing effect of defective parts that affect practical production lines, by implementing TPS,TPM activities to eliminate or reduce quality defect during process that ensures smoothness of assembly lines and manufacturing of quality equipment, which is able to meet requirements of customers on equipment. As matter of fact, companies that adopt essential factors of TPS can totally eliminate waste during operation production, TPM is supported by two pillars which are JIT (Just-In-Time) and autonomous defects control “autonomation” or “Jidoka” to eliminating wastes and increasing quality of production lines. The deployment of TPM activities which include (1)“Maximizing efficiency of production system”, (2)“Zero defects”,(3)“ Promoting efficiency among departments in a corporate”,(4)“ Full participation of employees to implementing TPM”,(5)“Achieving goal of each step through small team activities” , is essential throughout every department in the company. The study found implementing TPM activities in the organization not only can prevent quality defects from happening again but also can improve understanding to TPM activities of vendors. Although vendors are excluded in TPM activities, TPS principles are followed up by vendors through tutoring of the company to learn 4M in operation management against defect components, to carry out detailed control of quality matrix (QM) to achieve status of zero defects. Although the vendors does not implement TPM activities they still can go to the direction of zero failure through guidelines of TPS principles. The Victor-Taichung Machinery works implements TPS, and TPM activities, one of purposes is to reduce inventory costs. Hence, the company adopts that pre- assembled components to be distributed by warehouse control. The overstocked components often result in high inventory cost, by implementing a concept of “Just-In-Time” which can not only reduce space needed for assembly but also can reduce inventory cost and reduction of waste on transporting of components. The study focuses on saving costs of unnecessary working hour that occurred because of interruption of production lines, those interruption are contributed to defect components. The study focuses on quality defects of the assembly line of injection molding machine. Firstly, introduction to assembly processes, technicians assemble injection machines, when defect components are found, technicians fill out defect report that be signed by the foreman, the report then be forwarded to QC department for record, time of receipt to record and time of start to completion to be deemed as loss of statistic working hour. Monthly discussion over report of defect components and loss of working hour and quantity is conducted for corrective actions. The corrective actions are mainly imposed on those vendors who supply defect components to the assembly lines, for quality improvement. Those vendors are also obligated to receive suggestions from QC department of the company and help improve component quality. The causes of defect components need to be investigated and analyzed by the vendors for corrective actions, furthermore, cause and effect analysis has to be conducted by vendors and then submit corrective actions to QC department in order to achieve quality goal (zero defect), assembly and test (zero failure), elimination of danger caused by rush assembly of defect components to achieve a safety industrial environment (zero accident).

Many enterprises have introduced and applied various managerial techniques and skills to increase their competitiveness in order to adapt themselves to the on-going evolution of the macro business environment, for instance, from the TQC (Total Quality Control) in the early days, the JIT (Just In Time) of the TPS (Toyota Production System) after the oil crisis, to the TPM (Total Product Maintenance) in the 70’s. These methodologies all have been widely applied and reached certain achievements in various industries. Regarding the above mentioned methodologies, respectively, many scholars have focused the studies on their effectiveness and factors that contribute to the success in reaching goals set by corporations respect. But not many studies, from a more practical point of view, have shed their light on the co-relations and frameworks of these three methodologies, nor on the introduction procedure of bringing these different systems into a company. The author wish to combine his professional expertise in the relevant field with his academic research on the issue, and propose a new practical framework of applying a new production management methodology by integrating TQC, TPS, and TPM. The relationship in these techniques and introduction procedure in applying these techniques will also be discussed. The author has applied his methodology on the assembling section as well as the supplying chain of a company in a case study and verified the efficiency and effectiveness of his methodology. By the evaluation of ANOVA, it is proven that the proposed framework and the introduction of procedure the methodologies can greatly contribute to a company in improving its production management system. Therefore, companies could make references to this research and follow the guidelines recommended by the author when they want to improve their management on production.

The concepts of total quality management (TQM), just-in-time (JIT) and total productive maintenance (TPM) have been widely applied into many industries in recent three decades. The company can improve the competitive advantage through implementing these continuous improvement concepts completely. This study is focused on the reviewing of total productive maintenance and the application of data envelopment analysis in TPM Award Company’s performance measurement. The word “total” in total productive maintenance has three meanings that describe the principal features of TPM: 1) Total effectiveness (including productivity, cost, quality delivery, safety, environment and health, moral), 2) Total maintenance system (including maintenance prevention (MP), maintainability improvement (MI)) and 3) Total participation of all employees.
