Thıs paper compares the translation of words and concepts of Qur’an in Rylands version, which is considered as one of the earliest interlinear translations of Qur’an, representing the features of Eastern Turkish that existed earlier than Chagatay period and in Qur’an translations published in contemporary Turkish and Kyrgyz. Abstract Recent discoveries and overlooked documents help us to understand the spread of the Dalāʾil al-khayrāt in a region stretching from the Tatar lands to the Tarim Basin, passing Bukhara and Kokand along the way. This paper by no means aims to provide a historical survey of al-Jazūlī’s prayer book in Central Asia. Rather, I introduce some leads for research on the basis of several manuscripts. This article examines a mid-seventeenth century Turkish translation of the Persian encyclopaedic work Nuzhat al-Qulūb by Ilkhanid historian Ḥamdallāh Mustawfī Qazvīnī (d. after 744/1344). Composed in the Kurdish emirate of Bidlīs, southwest of Lake Van, at the request of its ruler Abdāl Khān (r. 1031–1074/1622–1664), this translation is extant in two manuscripts, both kept in Ankara’s Millî Kütüphane as MSS A 957 and A 979. I will focus on the translation of the Nuzhat’s botanical section as it appears in MS A 979, and, more specifically, on the plethora of marginal and interlinear notes left

After Turks had accepted Islam as the official state religion, the Qur’an was translated into Turkic as a whole.
