Resumen
Abstract:Advances in electronic image recording and computer technologyhave resulted in a remarkable increase in the power and flexibility of interactive computer-video teaching systems. The University of Washington Health Science Videodisc Development Group first demonstrated a laser videodisc controlled by a remote central computer in 1980. Even this rudimentary unit highlighted basic medical informatics principles including: rapid accessibility; a “generic” or multi-purposed format; ease of computer control; and large collections of valid, rigorously reviewed images. Advances in medical informatics have led to the development of the following previously undescribed series of teaching units:1. The hypertext programs Hypercard, Linkway, and Guide have been used with videodiscs to develop easy-to-use instructional and reference materials. These materials demonstrate the ease with which a computer-naive instructor may develop new programs and the advantage that the intuitive nature of these programs brings to student users.2. Patient simulations using single and double screens plus pre-defined knowledge structures;3. Interactive single topic tutorials using preset knowledge structures;4. A key-word-based disc searching system;5. Electronic video microscopy;6. A series of programs developed independently by health science faculty who have purchased multi-purpose videodiscs that demonstrate the flexibility of the multi-purpose or “generic”: collection concept.

Resumen
The researchers conducted a comprehensive review of the literature on technology-based practices for secondary students identified as having learning disabilities (LD) involving instruction and/or assessment that measured some aspect of performance on a general education task or expectation (i.e., test). Technology-based practices included computer- or video-based interventions, multimedia programs, technology-based assessment, and verbatim audio recordings. Three practices appear promising for educating students with LD: (a) hypertext and hypermedia software programs; (b) videodisc instruction involving contextualized learning; and (c) multimedia software. Educational recommendations and directions for future research are offered based upon results.

Distance learning programs use on-line video records to deliver pre-recorded lectures. And, video communication systems can be used as a discussion tool. In this paper, we start our discussion on a multimedia presentation recording system which we had developed. We then present how the video recording concept can be further extended to realize an augmented video conferencing system, which can be used as a peer-to-peer discussion tool, as well as a lecture broadcasting system. We also point out that an object tracking technology can be further integrated to enhance the tool, to enable a more realistic and useful system for the discussion in distance education.

Resumen
Learning technologies are gradually becoming an integral part of teaching in both face-to-face and online learning. Among them, screencasts (i.e. desktop video recordings of presentations normally accompanied by the presenter?s video and narration), constitute a pedagogical tool used to create visual material to be distributed to students. Learners can then watch the videos in their own convenience and pace. The plethora of tools available makes it easier for the teachers to produce high-quality, low-cost screencasts for a number of courses. In the current paper we investigate how students perceive the impact of screencasts on their understanding and motivation in learning Logic Programming. We take the opportunity to present some tips and techniques that can be applied in any screencast production. We discuss in detail how screencasts can be used in programming courses, irrespectively of whether the latter use Imperative, Object-Oriented, or Declarative languages, and we present a number of examples to demonstrate how screencasts can facilitate learning. Furthermore, we focus particularly on Logic Programming, which lends itself to technology enhanced learning, since it requires a non-linear, out-of-the-box way of thinking towards developing programs. Finally, we evaluate our approach by presenting the opinion of students.

Resumen
Abstract Objectives: The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate metrologically the effectiveness of a training program on the reduction of stressful trunk postures in geriatric nursing professions. Methods: A training program, consisting of instruction on body postures in nursing, practical ergonomic work methods at the bedside or in the bathroom, reorganization of work equipment, and physical exercises, was conducted in 12 wards of 6 nursing homes in Germany. The Computer-Assisted Recording and Long-Term Analysis of Musculoskeletal Loads (CUELA) measurement system was used to evaluate all movements and trunk postures adopted during work before and 6 months after the training program. In total, 23 shifts were measured. All measurements were supported by video recordings. A specific software program (WIDAAN 2.75) was used to synchronize the measurement data and video footage. Results: The median proportion of time spent in sagittal inclinations at an angle of >20° was significantly reduced (by 29%) 6 months after the intervention [from 35.4% interquartile range (27.6–43.1) to 25.3% (20.7–34.1); P < 0.001]. Very pronounced inclinations exceeding 60° [2.5% (1.1–4.6) to 1.0% (0.8–1.7); P = 0.002] and static inclinations of over 20° for >4 s [4.4% (3.0–6.7) to 3.6% (2.5–4.5); P < 0.001] were significantly reduced, by 60% and 22%, respectively. Video analysis showed that in 49% of care situations, ergonomic measures were implemented properly, either at the bedside or in the bathroom. Conclusions: Stressful trunk postures could be significantly reduced by raising awareness of the physical strains that frequently occur during a shift, by changes in work practices and by redesigning the work environment. Workplace interventions aimed at preventing or reducing low back pain in nursing personnel would probably benefit from sensitizing employees to their postures during work.

The objective is to ground the ways of improving the level of technical preparedness of highly-qualified archers by means of video and multimedia technologies.Materials and methods: The research studied motor actions of 25 athletes of the national team of Ukraine in archery when they were performing training exercises indoors (exercising area) and outdoors (archery range). Each athlete’s technique of executing shooting exercises was video recorded in sequence from different angles (from above, from behind, from the front, from the left and the right sides depending on the shooting line) with a digital video camera Sony DCR-XR150E. The processing of the video materials was done with the Dartfish Connekt software package. Results: The research grounds the need to use video and multimedia technologies in the process of training of highly-qualified archers. Such methods aim at improving the skills of both coaches and athletes by helping them better understand all aspects of the training exercises execution. Multimedia means offer a delayed-in-time opportunity to watch the video recording of the training after its preliminary computer processing. It enables the coach and the athlete to focus on the analysis of the execution of the entire exercise and its elements. The paper provides examples of the use of video technologies in archers’ training practice. Conclusions: Prospects of the use of the state-of-the-art computer technologies in sports training are infinite. Computer software and hardware systems should be available for most coaches. The task of the latter is to learn to use and implement them for the benefit of themselves and athletes. The task of the scientific groups and experts is to find a most convenient way for the coach to use the innovative technologies. The task of the software developer is to model intellectual programs to help the coach effectively analyze and evaluate his archers or team when preparing them for the most important starts of the future.

Scanning confocal microscopy has developed into a very useful technique for many scientific investigations. However, commercial development has been so rapid that some recent advances in computer graphics and imaging have not been incorporated into the commercial systems. One particular concern was high quality hard copy with alpha-numeric and graphic overlays. A subsystem was developed to provide this output for the BioRad MRC-500/600 confocal imaging system.A digital film recorder, an Agfa Matrix Procolor was chosen as the principal element of hardware. This compact unit can record an image at a resolution of 4096 horizontal by 3072 vertical pixels at a cost equivalent to popular analog video film recorders. The interface is a standard IEEE 488 GPIB board. It is compatible with various film emulsions such as Kodak Ecktachrome 100 as well as many of the major graphics arts and image processing programs. The second element of hardware in this system is an ATVista 4M image processing board.

Resumen
Dreams have been described as “an endangered species” in general psychiatry nowadays (Holmes, 1991). Liam Hudson (1985) suggests the danger derives from a society which has embraced a naïvely reductionist, oversimplified understanding of neurophysiology. But Hudson also sees a threat to dreams from the increasing variety of visual imagery available for personal creative adaptation through television, computer programs and video recording. Researching this article, I was unable to find a single reference to dreams in the British Journal of Psychiatry over the past 12 years. Theories about dreams are taught to trainee psychiatrists as historical background. In recent years there has been a revival of psychiatric interest in only one kind of dream –‘flashbacks' of traumatic experiences as a feature of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Resumen
This study proposes an alternative and economical tool to estimate traffic densities, via video-image processing adapting the Kalman filter included in the Matlab code. Traffic information involves acquiring data for long periods of time at stationary points. Vehicle counting is vital in modern transport studies, and can be achieved by using different techniques, such as manual counts, use of pneumatic tubes, magnetic sensors, etc. In this research however, automatic vehicle detection was achieved using image processing, because it is an economical and sometimes even faster option. Commercial automatic vehicle detection and tracking programs/applications already exist, but their use is typically prohibitive due to their high cost. Large cities can obtain traffic recordings from surveillance cameras and process the information, but it is difficult for smaller towns without such infrastructure or even assigned budget. The proposed tool was developed taking into consideration these difficult situations, and it only requires users to have access to a fixed video camera placed at an elevated point (e.g. a pedestrian bridge or a light pole) and a computer with a powerful processor; the images are processed automatically through the Kalman filter code within Matlab. The Kalman filter predicts random signals, separates signals from random noise or detects signals with the presence of noise, minimizing the estimated error. It needs nevertheless some adjustments to focus it for vehicle counting. The proposed algorithm can thus be adapted to fit the users’ necessities and even the camera’s position. The use of this algorithm allows to obtain traffic data and may help small cities´ decision makers dealing with present and future urban planning and the design or installment of transportation systems.

Resumen
AbstractThis paper presents research findings of a longitudinal empirical case study that investigated an innovative Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) professional development program for pre-service English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers. The conceptualization of the program was based on the assumption that pre-service language teachers learn better in situated contexts (Egbert, 2006). Therefore, a key component of the program was the development of school-based research projects, in which the student teachers needed to design, implement, and evaluate technology-enhanced EFL lessons in collaboration with in-service teachers. Data were collected via field notes, video recordings of lessons, academic research reports produced by the pre-service teachers, and in-depth interviews with the pre-service and in-service teachers. Our findings indicate that the field experiences provided professional learning opportunities that supported the student teachers’ development as CALL practitioners. The participating pre-service teachers especially emphasized the important role played by school-based experiences in allowing them to use technology in authentic language teaching scenarios and to evaluate the impact of technology on language teaching and learning. The paper concludes with a discussion of important principles and guidelines that should underlie and inform such collaborative efforts and a summary of the implications of the findings for the design of CALL pre-service teacher education programs.

Moving target detection is involved in many engineering applications, but basketball has some difficulties because of the time-varying speed and uncertain path. The purpose of this paper is to use computer vision image analysis to identify the path and speed of a basketball goal, so as to meet the needs of recognition and achieve trajectory prediction. This research mainly discusses the basketball goal recognition method based on computer vision. In the research process, Kalman filter is used to improve the KCF tracking algorithm to track the basketball path. The algorithm of this research is based on MATLAB, so it can avoid the mixed programming of MATLAB and other languages and reduce the difficulty of interface design software. In the aspect of data acquisition, the extended EPROM is used to store user programs, and parallel interface chips (such as 8255A) can be configured in the system to output switch control signals and display and print operations. The automatic basketball bowling counter based on 8031 microprocessor is used as the host computer. After the level conversion by MAX232, it is connected with the RS232C serial port of PC, and the collected data is sent to the workstation recording the results. In order to consider the convenience of user operation, the GUI design of MATLAB is used to facilitate the exchange of information between users and computers so that users can see the competition results intuitively. The processing frame rate of the tested video image can reach 60 frames/second, more than 25 frames/second, which meet the real-time requirements of the system. The results show that the basketball goal recognition method used in this study has strong anti-interference ability and stable performance.

Resumen
The article discusses the legal basis for the use of digital technologies in labor relations. Digital technologies can be used both in the performance of work, for example, the work of remote workers, and in the control of employees. When monitoring employees, including remote workers, the use of digital technologies and public information and telecommunications networks by the employer comes first. Moreover, the use of digital technologies by the employer when monitoring remote workers is the only means of control. The author examines the legal regulation of the implementation of such means of control over employees as video surveillance, an automated system for monitoring and recording working hours, monitoring sites that an employee visited from his office computer during working hours, checking correspondence in corporate e-mail, listening to telephone conversations, using billing programs, and provides examples from court practice. The author identifies the defects of legal regulation in these areas and suggests ways to improve the legislation.

In this research, the development of a camera-based rainfall intensity measuring instrument with the Fourier Transform Analysis has been carried out. The ESP32 CAM Microcontroller was used to capture images and record rainfall videos. The research objective was to design a development model for measuring rainfall intensity, understanding the working principle of the tool, and knowing the histogram of the rainfall intensity video recording produced by the rainfall intensity detection tool. The research consisted of several stages, namely literature study, design of research tools and components, system design, assembly of tools, testing of all components, programs and screen record testing and image capture. The design model for the development of a measuring instrument for rainfall intensity that has been made is that when water flows through the shower there will be rainfall. The process of rainfall will be captured and recorded by the ESP32 CAM Microcontroller which is accessed via a computer device. Experiments were carried out ten times, with a time span of 60 seconds per experiment and an increase in rainfall every minute, then the data was processed using python software in the form of a histogram (grayscale), which would be analyzed using the Fourier Transform Analysis method. The results showed that the development of a camera-based rainfall intensity gauge has worked well.

Resumen
Abstract Background Falls are the most common cause of injury among older people in Thailand. However, there are no established falls prevention programs in our community. Telehealth is one of the strategies to overcome this unmet need. We have developed the Step Sensing System (SSS) for measuring gait speed and stepping accuracy of multi target stepping task (MTST). This system comprises of the footstep sensing modules, controller box and analyzing computer. SSS records each footfall and compares with an assignment for each walking trail. The results will be sent to a cloud storage which are accessible by web-based and mobile applications. By using this technology, we are able to remotely access falls risk and monitor MTST performance in older people. Methods We placed footstep sensing modules under a 6-metre mat, then asked a 32-year-old healthy woman to walk across the mat for 4 trails: usual-pace, faster-pace, usual-pace with 1 assigned target and usual-pace with 2 assigned targets on an alternating sequence. We evaluated the system reliability by comparing gait speed and stepping accuracy on 3rd and 4th trails with video recorded by Intel RealsenseTM Depth Camera (model D415). Results SSS and video recording has excellent correlation for gait speed and stepping accuracy measurement (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC] &gt; 0.99, p value &lt; 0.001). The user satisfaction measured by the System Usability Scale was 70/100. Conclusions SSS demonstrated promising results on gait speed and stepping accuracy measurement in controlled environment. For the next step, we plan to increase ability of gait measurement on various parameters and perform the validity assessment in community setting.

Resumen
Introduction / Innovation Concept: Orbital compartment syndrome (OCS) is a vision threatening ocular emergency that occurs when there is a sudden rise in orbital pressure resulting in damage to intraocular structures. Lateral canthotomy and cantholysis (LCC) is a simple procedure used to decompress the orbit. Emergency physicians should be comfortable evaluating and diagnosing OCS, and performing a LCC to decrease the risk of vision loss in the event that consultation and intervention by an ophthalmologist is not possible in a timely manner. Developing this skill is challenging as this procedure is seldom performed, therefore resources need to be available. Current training videos are an excellent learning tool but are limited by several factors, such as not capturing from the perspective of the physician performing the procedure. Point-of-view (POV) cameras show the physician’s perspective, which is more conducive to training as it mimics the experience for trainees. We report our novel technique of recording a LCC using a head-mounted POV camera as a resource for emergency physician trainees in learning this procedure. Methods: We used a head mounted POV GoPro Hero 4 Silver camera (GoPro, San Mateo, CA, U.S.A.) with a modified 5.4mm f/2.5 aftermarket lens with a 60° field of view (Peau Productions Inc, San Diego, CA, U.S.A.). This lens was pre-focused to a working distance of 17 inches, set to 1080P on narrow recording at 48 frames per second, and had spot metering and the low light functions turned on. The camera functions were controlled remotely by an assistant with the use of GoPro App on a tablet computer to ensure proper framing of the camera. Curriculum, Tool, or Material: Our novel use of a POV camera for recording LCC is an efficient, cost effective tool useful for medical education at an academic institution as well as a valuable resource for emergency room clinicians. The POV recording system can be a training device in an emergency setting for performing a LCC or other procedures that emergency physicians may seldom encounter. Conclusion: Point-of-view cameras have great potential in assisting the education at the post-graduate level within residency training programs. Video recording from the physician’s perspective simulates the experience for trainees and could leave them feeling more confident in their ability to perform the procedure.

Resumen
<p><strong>Aim</strong>: There have been many urban design application and research studies describing the connection between user movement and space. The Space Syntax Method, an urban design model developed by the Space Syntax Laboratory at University College London, England, seeks to describe the connection between pedestrian movement and spatial formation on a mathematical basis. The Space Syntax is specialized approach used in designing pedestrian connections within the urban structure. It observes pedestrian and vehicle movements, and uses computer programs to calculate the potential effects of design proposals on pedestrian movement.</p><p><strong>Method</strong>: This model is used in many European countries and it provides consistent results for pedestrian movement. This method was utilized to determine the connection between pedestrian movement and the space format in a field described in this study – the Konya City Square. Starting from pedestrian movement and the assembly points, the study recorded the observations and the follow-up of pedestrian movement in Konya city center during a one-week period (at different hours of the day, on weekdays and weekends, in the daytime and at night). A video recording was made and it was turned into pedestrian movement charts. Graphic maps were also prepared and they were compared to the Space Syntax Method. Furthermore, a lighting analysis was conducted in the City Square using the DIALux lighting calculation program and it was found to be consistent with the current records.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: The study concluded that the lighting work at the City Square underestimated pedestrian movement on the Square, and the monument at the center of the Square lacked visibility and definability. Suggestions were put forward regarding these issues.</p>

Resumen
Examinations of the left ventricle (LV), which is the systemic ventricle and as such of paramount importance for the function of the heart, are commonly employed in cardiology. Numerous models have been developed that allow for LV parametric representation. Thanks to that, the left ventricle is better suited for all types of modeling endeavors and the correctness of the results may be relatively easily verified. The authors present a new method for an automatic detection and evaluation of the left ventricle, which is seen as an echocardiographic image in the four-chamber projection. The method is based on computerized image analysis, and in particular, on mathematical morphology.4,6,8,9,11,12 Investigations and the preliminary verification of the method have been carried out on complete cycles registered on video in the course of examinations. It is the complete cycles only that allow us to follow the dynamics of cardiac function. As a result of long-term collaboration with cardiologists, an algorithm has been developed that allows for an automatic LV detection. A precise delineation of its borders allows for an objective description of changes in geometric parameters in the course of the entire cycle and for a quantitative analysis of the left ventricular function.

Resumen
Narcolepsy with cataplexy is a severe lifelong disorder characterized, among others, by sudden loss of bilateral face muscle tone triggered by emotions (cataplexy). A recent approach for the diagnosis of the disease is based on a completely manual analysis of video recordings of patients undergoing emotional stimulation made on-site by medical specialists, looking for specific facial behavior motor phenomena. We present here the CAT-CAD tool for automatic detection of cataplexy symptoms, with the double aim of (1) supporting neurologists in the diagnosis/monitoring of the disease and (2) facilitating the experience of patients, allowing them to conduct video recordings at home. CAT-CAD includes a front-end medical interface (for the playback/inspection of patient recordings and the retrieval of videos relevant to the one currently played) and a back-end AI-based video analyzer (able to automatically detect the presence of disease symptoms in the patient recording). Analysis of patients’ videos for discovering disease symptoms is based on the detection of facial landmarks, and an alternative implementation of the video analyzer, exploiting deep-learning techniques, is introduced. Performance of both approaches is experimentally evaluated using a benchmark of real patients’ recordings, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.

Resumen
In-situ experiments conducted within a transmission electron microscope provide the operator a unique opportunity to directly observe microstructural phenomena, such as phase transformations and dislocation-precipitate interactions, “as they happen”. However, in-situ experiments usually require a tremendous amount of experimental preparation beforehand, as well as, during the actual experiment. In most cases the researcher must operate and control several pieces of equipment simultaneously. For example, in in-situ deformation experiments, the researcher may have to not only operate the TEM, but also control the straining holder and possibly some recording system such as a video tape machine. When it comes to in-situ fatigue deformation, the experiments became even more complicated with having to control numerous loading cycles while following the slow crack growth. In this paper we will describe a new method for conducting in-situ fatigue experiments using a camputer-controlled tensile straining holder. The tensile straining holder used with computer-control system was manufactured by Philips for the Philips 300 series microscopes. It was necessary to modify the specimen stage area of this holder to work in the Philips 400 series microscopes because the distance between the optic axis and holder airlock is different than in the Philips 300 series microscopes. However, the program and interfacing can easily be modified to work with any goniometer type straining holder which uses a penrmanent magnet motor.

Resumen
Background It is not common for people to come across a living kidney donor, let alone consider whether they would ever donate a kidney themselves while they are alive. Narrative storytelling, the sharing of first-person narratives based on lived experience, may be an important way to improve education about living donor kidney transplants (LDKTs). Developing ways to easily standardize and disseminate diverse living donor stories using digital technology could inspire more people to consider becoming living donors and reduce the kidney shortage nationally. Objective This paper aimed to describe the development of the Living Donation Storytelling Project, a web-based digital library of living donation narratives from multiple audiences using video capture technology. Specifically, we aimed to describe the theoretical foundation and development of the library, a protocol to capture diverse storytellers, the characteristics and experiences of participating storytellers, and the frequency with which any ethical concerns about the content being shared emerged. Methods This study invited kidney transplant recipients who had received LDKTs, living donors, family members, and patients seeking LDKTs to record personal stories using video capture technology by answering a series of guided prompts on their computer or smartphone and answering questions about their filming experience. The digital software automatically spliced responses to open-ended prompts, creating a seamless story available for uploading to a web-based library and posting to social media. Each story was reviewed by a transplant professional for the disclosure of protected health information (PHI), pressuring others to donate, and medical inaccuracies. Disclosures were edited. Results This study recruited diverse storytellers through social media, support groups, churches, and transplant programs. Of the 137 storytellers who completed the postsurvey, 105/137 (76.6%) were white and 99/137 (72.2%) were female. They spent 62.5 min, on average, recording their story, with a final median story length of 10 min (00:46 seconds to 32:16 min). A total of 94.8% (130/137) of storytellers were motivated by a desire to educate the public; 78.1% (107/137) were motivated to help more people become living donors; and 75.9% (104/137) were motivated to dispel myths. The ease of using the technology and telling their story varied, with the fear of being on film, emotional difficulty talking about their experiences, and some technological barriers being reported. PHI, most commonly surnames and transplant center names, was present in 62.9% (85/135) of stories and was edited out. Conclusions With appropriate sensitivity to ensure diverse recruitment, ethical review of content, and support for storytellers, web-based storytelling platforms may be a cost-effective and convenient way to further engage patients and increase the curiosity of the public in learning more about the possibility of becoming living donors.

Resumen
Abstract Human pose detection systems based on state-of-the-art DNNs are about to be extended, adapted and re-trained to fit the application domain of specific sports. Therefore, plenty of noisy pose data will soon be available from videos recorded at a regular and frequent basis. This work is among the first to develop mining algorithms that can mine the expected abundance of noisy and annotation-free pose data from video recordings in individual sports. Using swimming as an example of a sport with dominant cyclic motion, we show how to determine unsupervised time-continuous cycle speeds and temporally striking poses as well as measure unsupervised cycle stability over time. The average error in cycle length estimation across all strokes is 0.43 frames at 50 fps compared to manual annotations. Additionally, we use long jump as an example of a sport with a rigid phase-based motion to present a technique to automatically partition the temporally estimated pose sequences into their respective phases with a mAP of 0.89. This enables the extraction of performance relevant, pose-based metrics currently used by national professional sports associations. Experimental results prove the effectiveness of our mining algorithms, which can also be applied to other cycle-based or phase-based types of sport.

Resumen
The rapidly increasing presence of digital video recordings and new communication capacities on the Internet has created new possibilities for collaboration in behavioral science research. Unfortunately, digital video has so far proven to be an unnatural medium for collaborative activity due to a lack of adequate tools that support joint analysis of a shared video record. We describe seven socio-technical design challenges that face what we term computer-supported collaborative video analysis. We also describe a software environment that we have created called DIVER that was designed to address these challenges and provide a platform for the fluid exchange of video data as well as the insights that the data elicit. The affordances of DIVER for supporting collaboration around video are grounded in the descriptions of two academic contexts in which the software played a central role in the group's video-based activities. The potential of DIVER to serve as a `cognitive technology' is discussed.

Resumen
Brain–computer interfacing has enjoyed growing attention, not only due to the stunning demonstrations with severely disabled patients, but also the advent of economically viable solutions in areas such as neuromarketing, mental state monitoring, and future human–machine interaction. An interesting case, at least for neuromarketers, is to monitor the customer’s mental state in response to watching a commercial. In this paper, as a novelty, we propose a method to predict from electroencephalography (EEG) recordings whether individuals decide to skip watching a video trailer. Based on multiscale sample entropy and signal power, indices were computed that gauge the viewer’s engagement and emotional affect. We then trained a support vector machine (SVM), a k-nearest neighbor (kNN), and a random forest (RF) classifier to predict whether the viewer declares interest in watching the video and whether he/she decides to skip it prematurely. Our model achieved an average single-subject classification accuracy of 75.803% for skipping and 73.3% for viewer interest for the SVM, 82.223% for skipping and 78.333% for viewer interest for the kNN, and 80.003% for skipping and 75.555% for interest for the RF. We conclude that EEG can provide indications of viewer interest and skipping behavior and provide directions for future research.

Resumen
AbstractODESSA. Systematical study of the meteor events are being carried out since 1953. In 2003 complete modernization of the observing technique was performed, and TV gmeteor patrolh on the base of WATEC LCL902 cameras was created. @ wide variety of mounts and objectives are used: from Schmidt telescope F = 540 mm, F/D = 2.25 (field of view FOV = (0.68x0.51) deg, star limiting magnitude SLM = 13.5 mag, star astrometric accuracy 1-2 arcsec) up to Fisheye lenses F = 8 mm, F/D = 3.5 (FOV = (36x49) deg, SLM = 7 mag). The database of observations that was collected between 2003 and 2012 consists of 6176 registered meteor events. Observational programs on basis and non-basis observations in Odessa (Kryzhanovka station) and Zmeiny island are presented. Software suite of 12 programs was created for processing of meteor TV observations. It enables one to carry out the whole cycle of data processing: from image preprocessing up to orbital elements determination. Major meteor particles research directions: statistic, areas of streams, precise stream radiant, orbit elements, phenomena physics, flare appearance, wakes, afterglow, chemistry and density. KYIV. The group of meteor investigations has been functioning more than twenty years. The observations are carried out simultaneously from two points placed at the distance of 54 km. Super-isocon low light camera tubes are used with photo lens: F = 50mm, F/D = 1.5 (FOV = (23.5 x 19.0) deg, SLM = 9.5 mag), or F = 85, F/D = 1.5 (FOV = (13x11) deg, SLM = 11.5 mag). Astrometry, photometry, calculation of meteor trajectory in Earth atmosphere and computation of heliocentric orbit are realized in developed gFalling Starh software. KHARKOV. Meteor radio-observations have begun in 1957. In 1972, the radiolocation system MARS designed for automatic meteor registration was recognized as being the most sensitive system in the world. With the help of this system 250 000 faint meteors (up to 12 mag) were registered between 1972 and 1978 (frequency 31.1 MHz, particle masses 10−3 ~ 10−6 g). Simultaneously, millions of reflections were registered for even fainter meteors (up to 14 mag). Information about 250 000 meteors and 5160 meteor streams is included in database. This is an unique material that can be used for hypotheses testing, as well as for creation new theories about meteor phenomena. Models of the meteor matter distribution in the Earthfs atmosphere, near-Earth space and in the Solar system, influence on surface of spacecrafts were developed. NIKOLAEV. The optical and radio observations of meteors have begun in 2011. Two WATEC LCL902 cameras are used with photo lens F = 85 mm, F/D = 1.8 (FOV = (3.2x4.3), SLM = 12 mag, star astrometric accuracy 1-6 arcsec). Original software was developed for automatic on-line detection of meteor in video stream. During 2011 year 105 meteor events were registered (with angular length (0.5-4.5) deg and brightness (1-5) mag). Error of determination of the meteor trajectory arc ~ (10-12) arcsec. Error of determination of the large circle pole of the meteor trajectory is ~ (3-13) arcmin. In the radio band observations of meteors are performed by registration of signal reflected from the meteor wake. As a signal source the over-the-horizon FM station in Kielce (Poland) is used. Narrow-beam antenna, computer with TV/FM tuner and audio recording software are used to perform radio observations. Original software was developed for automatic detection of meteor in audio stream.

Resumen
Objective monitoring and assessment of human motor behavior can improve the diagnosis and management of several medical conditions. Over the past decade, significant advances have been made in the use of wearable technology for continuously monitoring human motor behavior in free-living conditions. However, wearable technology remains ill-suited for applications which require monitoring and interpretation of complex motor behaviors (e.g., involving interactions with the environment). Recent advances in computer vision and deep learning have opened up new possibilities for extracting information from video recordings. In this paper, we present a hierarchical vision-based behavior phenotyping method for classification of basic human actions in video recordings performed using a single RGB camera. Our method addresses challenges associated with tracking multiple human actors and classification of actions in videos recorded in changing environments with different fields of view. We implement a cascaded pose tracker that uses temporal relationships between detections for short-term tracking and appearance based tracklet fusion for long-term tracking. Furthermore, for action classification, we use pose evolution maps derived from the cascaded pose tracker as low-dimensional and interpretable representations of the movement sequences for training a convolutional neural network. The cascaded pose tracker achieves an average accuracy of 88% in tracking the target human actor in our video recordings, and overall system achieves average test accuracy of 84% for target-specific action classification in untrimmed video recordings.

Resumen
AbstractEngineers can today capture high-resolution video recordings of bridge movements during routine visual inspections using modern smartphones and compile a historical archive over time. However, the recordings are likely to be from cameras of different makes, placed at varying positions. Previous studies have not explored whether such recordings can support monitoring of bridge condition. This is the focus of this study. It evaluates the feasibility of an imaging approach for condition assessment that is independent of the camera positions used for individual recordings. The proposed approach relies on the premise that spatial relationships between multiple structural features remain the same even when images of the structure are taken from different angles or camera positions. It employs coordinate transformation techniques, which use the identified features, to compute structural displacements from images. The proposed approach is applied to a laboratory beam, subject to static loading under various damage scenarios and recorded using multiple cameras in a range of positions. Results show that the response computed from the recordings are accurate, with 5% discrepancy in computed displacements relative to the mean. The approach is also demonstrated on a full-scale pedestrian suspension bridge. Vertical bridge movements, induced by forced excitations, are collected with two smartphones and an action camera. Analysis of the images shows that the measurement discrepancy in computed displacements is 6%.

Resumen
AbstractThis paper describes an intercontinental project with the use of interactive tools, both synchronous and asynchronous, which was set up to internationalize academic learning of Spanish language and culture. The objective of this case study was to investigate whether video-web communication tools can contribute to enriching the quality of foreign language curricula, by facilitating a motivating virtual communication environment for purposeful interaction between non native and native speakers of Spanish to accomplish learning tasks. The project was carried out between a class of twenty Spanish as foreign language students from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, and a class of twenty Chilean trainee Spanish teachers from the University of Concepción, Chile. Students interacted weekly, over two months, in dyads and small groups making use of a video-web communication tool, Adobe Connect. The video-web communication tool enabled synchronous interactions, during which participants could see each other while talking and sharing audiovisual documents on-line. A blog was also used to promote collaboration, reflection and exchange of ideas about issues raised during the synchronous sessions. Qualitative data was collected through a questionnaire, analysis of recordings of learners' interaction sessions and the project blog. Results show a positive impact on motivation and on learning outcomes, particularly regarding understanding of the use of language in given contexts, and of cultural issues.

Resumen
This article examines adolescent and late adolescent discourses on bilingualism, bilingual education and the role of English and other additional languages in the current out-of-school lives and future trajectories of Spanish students enrolled in bilingual education programs. The data is part of a larger critical sociolinguistic ethnographic project on the implementation of bilingual education programs in secondary education (organized as English-Spanish CLIL) in Castilla-La Mancha, a region in South-Central Spain. Discourses were mainly elicited through a series of workshop-type and group discussion activities held in classrooms from two semi-private and two public schools, as well as an additional focus group conducted with university students. In total, 12 group events, involving approximately 300 students, were organized and documented through video-recordings, audio-recordings, photographs and fieldnotes. Students’ language ideologies around bilingualism are examined through an inductive qualitative / grounded theory approach. Three themes are identified: (a) the definition of bilingualism and bilingual competence, (b) the place of English (and other additional languages) in students’ current lives and social experiences and; (c) the role assigned to English in future employment and mobility opportunities. These discourses are discussed in relation to recent critical sociolinguistic work on the interconnection between language, multilingualism and neoliberalism. The paper closes with some methodological thoughts regarding the place of linguistic ethnography in the analysis of students’ collective discourses.

Resumen
This article aims to reflect on the main constraints encountered in recovering music-theatre works that involve a variety of diverse aspects that are relevant to their performance. As well as the score, scripts or other additional documents, the works considered here also include electroacoustics recorded on magnetic tape, consequently requiring specific approaches in order to preserve such kinds of works. Video recordings of concerts are important for understanding, documenting and eventually restaging these works. This idea is not new; audio-video recordings have for many years served as sources for documenting live performances (music-theatre or art performances). However, it is still important to discuss just how and with which tools these very important documents might be preserved and exploited. Hence, the study of the structure of Molly Bloom and FE…DE…RI…CO…, both with music by Constança Capdeville, enables an understanding of the processes in which documentation is relevant to preserving such a valuable cultural heritage.

Resumen
A VHS video - computer-based image analysis combination is described as a low sampling rate motion analysis system. Video recordings were taken indoor without any artificial illumination at 25 fps sampling rate. The horse studied was running on a high-speed treadmill and observed at 1.6, 4 and 7 m/s velocities at walk, trot and canter, respectively. Left forelimb and hindlimb were recorded separately from lateral view. For comparison, parallel CODA-3 recordings were taken at the same time from the same position. Joint angles were expressed and compared in angle-time diagrams. Sampling of both systems has been synchronised by a timer device at ± 1/300 s error level. Results obtained with the two different recording systems were comparable in all joints measured with the exception of the fetlock. Inaccuracies in fetlock recordings are thought to be eliminated by measuring at controlled illumination. As a conclusion, the VHS-Macintosh setup appears to be promising as a simplified system for gait analysis.
