Resumen
The introduction of the internet in embedded devices led to a new era of technology—the Internet of Things (IoT) era. The IoT technology-enabled device market is growing faster by the day, due to its complete acceptance in diverse areas such as domicile systems, the automobile industry, and beyond. The introduction of internet connectivity in objects that are frequently used in daily life raises the question of security—how secure is the information and the infrastructure handled by these devices when they are connected to the internet? Security enhancements through standard cryptographic techniques are not suitable due to the power and performance constraints of IoT devices. The introduction of virtualization technology into IoT devices is a recent development, meant for fulfilling security and performance needs. However, virtualization augments the vulnerability present in IoT devices, due to the addition of one more software layer—namely, the hypervisor, which enables the sharing of resources among different users. This article proposes the adaptation of ASMI (Architectural Support for Memory Isolation—a general architecture available in the literature for the improvement of the performance and security of virtualization technology) on the popular MIPS (Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages) embedded virtualization platform, which could be adopted in embedded virtualization architectures for IoT devices. The article illustrates the performance enhancement achieved by the proposed architecture with the existing architectures.

Resumen
Modern datacenters are reinforcing the computational power and energy efficiency by assimilating field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The sustainability of this large-scale integration depends on enabling multi-tenant FPGAs. This requisite amplifies the importance of communication architecture and virtualization method with the required features in order to meet the high-end objective. Consequently, in the last decade, academia and industry proposed several virtualization techniques and hardware architectures for addressing resource management, scheduling, adoptability, segregation, scalability, performance-overhead, availability, programmability, time-to-market, security, and mainly, multitenancy. This paper provides an extensive survey covering three important aspects—discussion on non-standard terms used in existing literature, network-on-chip evaluation choices as a mean to explore the communication architecture, and virtualization methods under latest classification. The purpose is to emphasize the importance of choosing appropriate communication architecture, virtualization technique and standard language to evolve the multi-tenant FPGAs in datacenters. None of the previous surveys encapsulated these aspects in one writing. Open problems are indicated for scientific community as well.

Resumen
LED building means that the LED screen covers building surface mostly, which could real-time reflect information, while forgetting the concept of “wall”. The information materialized itself. At the same time, information approaches the relationship between the architects and the popularity, so that confuses the difference. The space will not “be pushed” by the architects, while “being fetched” by the popularity. This visual space not only “analogs”, “translates”, or “amplifies” the real images, but also the other kind of existence. Virtual building expands the controlling mode in the physical world. It is a new way of travel, communication, control, and express. With the development of popular consuming culture and visual culture, and the exploring of LED expression and development of virtual technology by architects and artists, the LED buildings and virtual buildings will the indispensable existence with us. As a new kind of architectural design innovation, will they reveal the future the architecture development?

Resumen
Virtualization and Cloud computing are two popular research directions in recent times. Today, Virtualization is being used by a growing number of organizations to reduce power consumption, Server Consolidation, Testing and Development, Dynamic Load Balancing and Disaster Recovery, Virtual Desktops and Improved System Reliability and Security. Virtualization also provides high availability for critical applications, and streamlines application deployment and migrations. Through cloud computing, Information Technology resources can be delivered as services over the Internet to the end user. Virtualization is one of such important core technologies of cloud computing. In this paper, we present a detailed review on virtualization. Furthermore, three technologies for x86 CPU virtualization and the architecture of Xen are introduced. Specifically, we propose an architecture of the cloud computing platform based on virtualization. Finally, we discuss the performance evaluation of server virtualization in saving cost, time and energy consumption.

Resumen
POMPC is a parallel language dedicated to the programming of Massively Parallel Computers according to a synchronous Data Parallel model. It is an extension of the ANSI C language and follows its philosophy. Parallelism is explicitly handled by the definition of collections of parallel variables and the definition of communication primitives. A methodology is presented in order to easily port the language on different target architectures. Virtualization is introduced to handle simultaneously several collections of different sizes and shapes. Virtualization management is a key point of the compilation process. Programmer, architecture, compilation and system points of view lead to a special implementation of the virtualization mixing physical and virtual parallel objects. The implementation of the virtualization is adapted for the development of communication libraries and also adapted to enlarge the asynchronous sections of code for SPMD architecture. The portability of the POMPC language is validated by several implementations for mono/multi-process simulation on UNIX machines, for the Connection Machine CM-2, for the MasPar MP-1 and a compiler is in preparation for the iPSC-860.

Resumen
Persistent memory’s (PM) byte-addressability and high capacity will also make it emerging for virtualized environment. Modern virtual machine monitors virtualize PM using either I/O virtualization or memory virtualization. However, I/O virtualization will sacrifice PM’s byte-addressability, and memory virtualization does not get the chance of PM image management. In this article, we enhance QEMU’s memory virtualization mechanism. The enhanced system can achieve both PM’s byte-addressability inside virtual machines and PM image management outside the virtual machines. We also design pcow , a virtual machine image format for PM, which is compatible with our enhanced memory virtualization and supports storage virtualization features including thin-provisioning, base image, snapshot, and striping. Address translation is performed with the help of the Extended Page Table, thus much faster than image formats implemented in I/O virtualization. We also optimize pcow considering PM’s characteristics. We perform exhaustive performance evaluations on an x86 server equipping with Intel’s Optane DC persistent memory. The evaluation demonstrates that our scheme boosts the overall performance by up to 50× compared with qcow2, an image format implemented in I/O virtualization, and brings almost no performance overhead compared with the native memory virtualization. The striping feature can also scale-out the virtual PM’s bandwidth performance.

Resumen
The Thesis is about an architecture model for a Distributed Virtualization System, which could expand a virtual execution environment from a single physical machine to several nodes of a cluster. With current virtualization technologies, computing power and resource usage of Virtual Machines (or Containers) are limited to the physical machine where they run. To deliver high levels of performance and scalability, cloud applications are usually partitioned in several Virtual Machines (or Containers) located on different nodes of a virtualization cluster. Developers often use that processing model because the same instance of the operating system is not available on each node where their components run. The proposed architecture model is suitable for new trends in software development because it is inherently distributed. It combines and integrates Virtualization and Distributed Operating Systems technologies with the benefits of both worlds, providing the same isolated instance of a Virtual Operating System on each cluster node. Although it requires the introduction of changes in existing operating systems, thousands of legacy applications would not require modifications to obtain their benefits. A Distributed Virtualization System is suitable to deliver high-performance cloud services with provider-class features, such as high-availability, replication, migration, and load balancing. Furthermore, it is able to concurrently run several isolated instances of different guest Virtual Operating Systems, allocating a subset of nodes for each instance and sharing nodes between them. Currently, a prototype is running on a cluster of commodity hardware provided with two kinds of Virtual Operating Systems tailored for internet services (web server) as a proof of concept.

Resumen
Communication network can be treated as a complex network carrying a variety of services and service can be treated as a network composed of functional entities. There are growing interests in multiplex service entities where individual entity and link can be used for different services simultaneously. Entities and their relationships constitute a service entity network. In this paper, we introduced a service entity network virtualization architecture including service entity network hierarchical model, service entity network model, service implementation and deployment of service entity networks. Service entity network oriented multiplex planning model were also studied and many of these multiplex models were characterized by a significant multiplex of the links or entities in different service entity network. Service entity networks were mapped onto shared physical resources by dynamic resource allocation controller. The efficiency of the proposed architecture was illustrated in a simulation environment that allows for comparative performance evaluation. The results show that, compared to traditional networking architecture, this architecture has a better performance.

Resumen
The combination of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) can improve the control and utilization of network resources. However, this issue still requires proper solutions to virtualize large-scale networks, which would allow the use of SDN and Virtualization in real environments. Thus, this paper proposes a virtualization architecture for SDN that relies on a proxy-based approach. The NVP (Network Virtualization Proxy) is a virtualization proxy that intercepts messages exchanged between controllers and switches SDN enabling network virtualization. An implementation of the proposal was developed as a proof of concept and load testing was performed showing that the solution can provide network virtualization in a scalable manner, using less than 2.5 MB of memory to manage 100 switches performing simultaneous requests, whereas FlowVisor requires more than 200 MB.

Resumen
The rabid growth of today’s technological world has led us to connecting every electronic device worldwide together, which guides us towards the Internet of Things (IoT). Gathering the produced information based on a very tiny sensing devices under the umbrella of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The nature of these networks suffers from missing sharing among them in both hardware and software, which causes redundancy and more budget to be used. Thus, the appearance of Shared Sensor Networks (SSNs) provides a real modern revolution in it. Where it targets making a real change in its nature from domain specific networks to concurrent running domain networks. That happens by merging it with the technology of virtualization that enables the sharing feature over different levels of its hardware and software to provide the optimal utilization of the deployed infrastructure with a reduced cost. This article is concerned with surveying the idea of SSNs, the difference between it and the traditional WSNs, the requirements for its construction, challenges facing it, and the opportunities that are provided by it, then describing our proposed architectures. As a result of using virtualization technology as a basic block in building SSNs, using different types of virtualization will produce different types of SSNs that will give different usages to it. This article proposes a novel approach of taxonomy for SSNs that is based on the used virtualization techniques, and it describes the needs and usages of each one. It presents a wide array of previously proposed solutions comparing them to each other and a brief description of the issues addressed by each category of that taxonomy. Additionally, the shared sensor architecture and shared network architecture were depicted. Finally, some of its applications in some daily life fields are listed.

Resumen
Network function virtualization (NFV) is a concept aimed at achieving telecom grade cloud ecosystem for new-generation networks focusing on capital and operational expenditure (CAPEX and OPEX) savings. This study introduces empirical throughput prediction model for the virtual network function (VNF) and network function virtualization infrastructure (NFVI) architectures based on Linux kernel. The model arises from the methodology for performance evaluation and modeling based on execution area (EA) distribution by CPU core pinning. EA is defined as a software execution unit that can run isolated on a compute resource (CPU core). EAs are derived from the elements and packet processing principles in NFVIs and VNFs based on Linux kernel. Performing measurements and observing linearity of the measured results open the possibility to apply model calibration technique to achieve general VNF and NFVI architecture model with performance prediction and environment setup optimization. The modeling parameters are derived from the cumulative packet processing cost obtained by measurements for collocated EAs on the CPU core hosting the bottleneck EA. The VNF and NFVI architecture model with performance prediction is successfully validated against the measurement results obtained in emulated environment and used to predict optimal system configurations and maximal throughput results for different CPUs.

Resumen
In the fifth-generation communication system, secured and reliable data packets will rely on the network with high availability and low latency. The 5G network enables the dynamic control of nodes with low latency. Ultra-reliability is one of the challenging tasks in software-defined networks. The ultra-reliability feature is an interface working with high availability and low latency that brings in fifth-generation networks. The Internet of Things will work in the societies so that it required ultra-reliability features to empower the peoples as well as machines for collaborating with their neighbors. The connections among ultra-reliability networks are extremely hard situations to keep low packets corruption. The Software Defined Networks (SDN) will provide a platform for measuring, controlling, monitoring and scaling the smart objects in reality or virtually. Virtualization enables IT, specialists, to combine or separate the considerable networking or create new programmable networking among virtual machines. In this article, the authors are reviewed the architecture of SDN based on virtualization under the umbrella of 5G networks.

Resumen
Grid computing is commonly used for large scale application requiring huge computation capabilities. In such distributed architectures, the data storage on the distributed storage resources must be handled by a dedicated storage system to ensure the required quality of service. In order to simplify the data placement on nodes and to increase the performance of applications, a storage virtualization layer can be used. This layer can be a single parallel filesystem (like GPFS) or a more complex middleware. The latter is preferred as it allows the data placement on the nodes to be tuned to increase both the reliability and the performance of data access. Thus, in such a middleware, a dedicated monitoring system must be used to ensure optimal performance. In this paper, the authors briefly introduce the Visage middleware – a middleware for storage virtualization. They present the most broadly used grid monitoring systems, and explain why they are not adequate for virtualized storage monitoring. The authors then present the architecture of their monitoring system dedicated to storage virtualization. We introduce the workload prediction model used to define the best node for data placement, and show on a simple experiment its accuracy.

Resumen
AbstractThe fast spread of computer networks and broadband Internet access, and also the development of different operating systems, makes possible to use different virtualization techniques and virtual machines. The release and spread of virtualization platforms makes possible the development of cost-effective information systems that can provide in addition dynamic resource management and simplified system administration. In this paper we present a comparative performance analysis of Remote Desktop Virtualization based on Hyper-V versus Remote Desktop Services. We introduce system architecture for the two tested scenario and test environment including detailed hardware description. The main conclusions of the paper are that despite the higher acquisition and maintenance costs, the Remote Desktop Services outperforms the Hyper-V based Remote Desktop Virtualization in memory, CPU and also storage management.

Resumen
With open source, stable performance, simple structure, integrated in Linux kernel, and good performance, KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) gets wide attention from major IT vendors and academia circles. However, virtualization technology will introduce additional overhead, especially in the I/O virtualization. The current researches about KVM have been carried out mostly focused on the performance comparison and analysis between virtualization solutions. There is no systematic study of the KVM I/O performance. In this paper, the I/O architecture in KVM is firstly studied, and then the disk and network performance of fully virtualization KVM and Para-virtualization KVM with all the different configurations are systemically tested and analyzed. Both the KVM I/O performance and the influences of the different configuration options on the performance are figured out in this paper. These are quite important and useful for the users and designers.
