Abstract: XT Square is a kind of building having cultural commerciality function. The existence of this building is very important in supporting artists who live within it. Layout pattern becomes one of accessibility factors in XT Square area. Configuration and visibility shape influence the use of space pattern and people’s interest pattern in accessing every space in the building. The setting system between indoor space and outdoor space will give an easy effort for the people in living in and recognizing the space that it can be accessed comfortably. Configuration and visibility approachs are used in order to analyse the accessibility level of the space usage in that area. The result of the visibility and configuration analysis shows that there are many spaces having low integration that blocks do not integrated strongly and low visibility influences the appearance of the building in that area. This research suggest to open the visibility barrier and give high visibility that it can be recognized.Keywords: configuration, accessibility, visibility, system setting Abstraksi: XT Square merupakan bangunan dengan fungsi komersial budaya. Keberadaanya menjadi sangat penting guna mendukung pengrajin kesenian dan budaya di Kota Yogyakarta. Pola layout menjadi salah satu faktor aksesibilitas dalam kawasan XT Square. Bentuk konfigurasi dan visibilitas mempengaruhi pola pengunaan ruang dan pola keterarikan orang dalam mengakses setiap ruang dalam kawasan. Sistem setting antar ruang dalam dan ruang luar menjadikan kemudahan penguna dalam menempati ruang dan pengenalan ruang sehingga ruang menjadi nyaman untuk diakses. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan konfigurasi dan visibilitas, guna menganalisis tingkat aksesibilitas pengunaan ruang dalam kawasan. Hasil analisis visibilitas dan konfigurasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat banyak ruang dengan integrasi lemah sehingga blok tidak saling terintegrasi dengan kuat serta rendahnya visibilitas setiap bangunan dalam kawasan. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi dengan membuka pengahalang visibilitas dan memberi kantung tangkapan visibilitas agar ruang mudah dikenali.Kata kunci: konfigurasi, aksesibilitas, visibilitas, sistem setting

Abstract A field study on visibility during Arctic blowing snow events over sea ice in Franklin Bay, Northwest Territories, Canada, was carried out from mid-January to early April 2004 during the Canadian Arctic Shelf Exchange Study (CASES) 2003–04 expedition. Visibilities at two heights, wind and temperature profiles, plus blowing and drifting snow particle flux at several heights were monitored continually during the study period. Good relations between visibility and wind speed were found in individual events of ground blowing snow with coefficients of determination >0.9. Regression equations relating 1.5-m height visibility to 10-m wind speed can be used for predicting visibility with a mean relative error in the range of 19%–32%. Similar regression functions obtained from the data for observed visibility of less than 1 km could predict visibilities more accurately for more extreme visibility reductions and wind speeds (>9.5 m s−1) with mean relative error ranging from 15% to 26%. For the event of ground blowing snow, a simple power law relationship between wind speed and visibility is sufficient for operational purposes. A poorer relationship was observed in the event of blowing snow with concurrent precipitating snow. A theoretical visibility model developed by Pomeroy and Male fit well with observed visibilities if using a mean radius of 50 μm and an alpha value of 10. The predicted visibility had a mean relative error of 30.5% and root-mean-square error of 1.3 km. The observed visibility at 1.5 m had a strong relation with particle counter readings, with an R2 of 0.92, and was consistent among all events.

This paper undertakes a comparative analysis of the visibility, and of other SEO indicators, of the culture sections of Spain’s leading digital newspapers —specifically, elmundo.es, elpais. com, lavanguardia.com, abc.es, el­confidencial.com and 20minutos.es— based on data collected by the media analytics company, comScore, and the web traffic metric, Alexa Rank. The analysis employs a set of positioning in­dicators: namely, a visibility index, keywords, social signals, keyword profiles, URLs, SERP-Snippets, reference domains and best anchor texts, as made availa­ble by SISTRIX, an SEO analytics audit toolbox. Thus, we were able to deter­mine which of the digital newspapers’ culture sections has the best visibility. Likewise, we were able to identify which of these media are best positioned on Google, presumably as a result of more effective positioning strategies. We con­clude with a discussion of our results and, on the basis of these findings, re­commend ways in which the visibility of journalistic information can be optimi­sed in search engines. Les anàlisis s’han dut a terme amb la utilització d’un conjunt d’indicadors de posicionament (visibilitat, paraules clau, senyals socials, paraules clau, url, snippets, dominis de referència i mi­llors textos àncora) utilitzant l’eina de auditoria i anàlisi de posicionament en cercadors, SISTRIX. Ens preguntem quin d’aquests mitjans té millor una secció de notícies culturals amb millor visibilitat. L’estudi dut a terme amb els indicadors seleccionats permet, d’aquesta manera, presentar una anàlisi comparativa del periodisme cultural i identificar quins d’aquests mitjans presenten millors posicions a Google, presumiblement, com a resultat d’estratègies de posicio­nament. Finalitzem amb una discussió dels resultats juntament amb unes re­comanacions finals per optimitzar la vi­sibilitat de la informació periodística en els cercadors.

Meteorological visibility is an important meteorological observation indicator to measure the weather transparency which is important for the transport safety. It is a challenging problem to estimate the visibilities accurately from the image characteristics. This paper proposes a transfer learning method for the meteorological visibility estimation based on image feature fusion. Different from the existing methods, the proposed method estimates the visibility based on the data processing and features’ extraction in the selected subregions of the whole image and therefore it had less computation load and higher efficiency. All the database images were gray-averaged firstly for the selection of effective subregions and features extraction. Effective subregions are extracted for static landmark objects which can provide useful information for visibility estimation. Four different feature extraction methods (Densest, ResNet50, Vgg16, and Vgg19) were used for the feature extraction of the subregions. The features extracted by the neural network were then imported into the proposed support vector regression (SVR) regression model, which derives the estimated visibilities of the subregions. Finally, based on the weight fusion of the visibility estimates from the subregion models, an overall comprehensive visibility was estimated for the whole image. Experimental results show that the visibility estimation accuracy is more than 90%. This method can estimate the visibility of the image, with high robustness and effectiveness.

Political theory and social sciences are increasingly drawing on the concepts of “visibility” and “invisibility.” However, these concepts are deeply incompatible, depending on whether visibility is understood as a regime of power (in theories of surveillance) or as a moral framework (in theories of recognition). This article demonstrates how antagonisms between these academic paradigms can be conceptualized as “struggles of visibilities,” revealing the incompatibilities inherent to these theoretical frameworks and the coexistence of heterogeneous visibility regimes in the sociopolitical world. The study further documents how confrontations between different paradigms in academic theory are expressed in militant discourses and political strategies. The investigation focuses on activist testimonies and visual tactics used during the G8 summit of July 2001 in Genoa, where militant visibilities were spoken in words and made visible on bodies by clothing esthetics in demonstrations and riots.

In cases of densely occluded urban scenes, it is useful to determine the visibility of scenes, since only small parts of the scene are visible from a given cell. In this paper, we introduce a new visibility preprocessing method that efficiently computes potentially visible objects for volumetric cells. The proposed method deals with general 3D polygonal models and invisible objects jointly blocked by multiple occluders. The proposed approach decomposes volume visibility into a set of point visibilities, and then computes point visibility using hardware-visibility queries. We carry out experiments on various large-scale scenes, and show the performance of our algorithm. Our performance analysis approach estimates the exact solution of volume visibility. From differences between the estimated solution and the proposed algorithms solution, we show that our algorithm seeks a tight overestimate of the potentially visible set (PVS).

This principle has been applied to development of the new visibility-range monitor described in this paper. In this monitor, a charge-coupled device (CCD) video camera measures the brightness of an arbitrary area in its range of vision, and visibility range measured by the video camera in blowing snow can be compared with that measured by the transmissometer-type visibility-range monitor and can also be calculated by direct observation using optical targets. The new sytem can monitor visibility and record information about traffic on highways at 1 s intervals for a maximum of six separate positions. The vertical distribution of visibilities over a snow surface has been observed, and it has been found that the fluctuation in visibility is greatest at lower levels above the ground in blowing snow.

Different visibilities and different wavelength attenuations can cause color deviation problem in some dehazing algorithms. A visibility detection algorithm based on a single fog image is proposed. First, the visibility range of the image is preliminarily determined according to the transmissivity; then, the normalized differences between the residual energy ratios of different wavelengths of RGB channels are calculated, and the pixels with large gray deviation of a single channel are filtered to improve the calculation accuracy; finally, the image visibility detection value is calculated. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm not only effectively reflects the fog image visibility but is also well suited for evaluating the effectiveness of the image defogging algorithms and the restoration degree of the defogging color difference.

Abstract. Visibility degradation is a pervasive and urgent environmental problem in China. The occurrence of low visibility events is frequent in the North China Plain, where the aerosol loading is quite high and aerosols are strongly hygroscopic. A parameterization of light extinction (Kex) for low visibilities on hazy days is proposed in this paper, based on visibility, relative humidity (RH), aerosol hygroscopic growth factors and particle number size distributions measured during the Haze in China (HaChi) Project. Observational results show that a high aerosol volume concentration is responsible for low visibility at RH <90%; while for RH >90%, decrease of visibility is mainly influenced by the increase of RH. The parameterization of Kex is developed on the basis of aerosol volume concentrations and RH, taking into accounts the sensitivity of visibility to the two factors and the availability of corresponding data. The extinction coefficients calculated with the parameterization schemes agree well with the directly measured values.

This paper notes the emergence of technologies of multiple variable visibility – that is, technologies that render individuals visible to diverse interests simultaneously via the corporate ownership of intimate personal data. Focusing on Facebook, a classic example of technology of this genre, I argue that the various levels of visibility that are facilitated by these technologies cannot and should not be analyzed in isolation from one another. The complex dynamics of power that are mobilized via the strategic employment of multiple visibilities complicates the representation of many surveillance technologies as one-dimensional conduits for empowerment or exploitation. In the context of these technologies, I argue that visibilities (plural) facilitate combined experiences of empowerment and disempowerment, a process that not only speaks to the type of data collection that is enabled through this process but also implies a whole serious of implications specific to their use.

Thisproblem is caused by the difference criteria between Indonesia Moslem (Indonesia ReligiousAffair) of the crescent visibility and Ilyas. Ilyas’s concept of International Lunar Date Line isalways change every month. Perbedaan ini mengakibatkan perbedaan pula dalam memulai peribadatan-peribadatantertentu, yang paling menonjol ialah perbedaan dalam memulai puasa Ramadan, IdulFitri, dan Idul Adha. Perbedaan penetapan awal bulan tersebut membuat para tokoh falakdan astronomi bekerja keras untuk memikirkan upaya penyatuan kalender Islam, baik tingkatnasional maupun internasional. Salah satu tokoh yang gigih memperjuangkan upaya penyatuankalender Islam Internasional adalah Mohammad Ilyas. Penelitian ini menunjukkanbahwa konsep pemikiran Mohammad Ilyas tentang Kalender Islam Internasional bertumpupada hisab imkan ar-rukyah (crescent visibiliy/visibilitas hilal) dan Garis Tanggal KamariahAntar Bangsa (International Lunar Date Line). Kriteria visibilitas hilal Ilyas menggunakankombinasi dua parameter, yaitu parameter ketinggian relatif geosentrik (geocentric relativealtitude) dan azimut relatif (relative azimut). Kriteria visibilitas hilal yang digunakan olehIlyas adalah: (1) Beda tinggi Bulan-Matahari minimum agar hilal dapat teramati adalah 4°jika beda azimut Bulan-Matahari lebih dari 45°. Jika beda azimutnya 0°, maka beda tinggi Bulan-Matahari harus lebih dari 10.5°, (2) Terbenamnya Bulan sekurang-kurangnya 41 menitlebih lambat daripada terbenamnya Matahari dan memerlukan beda waktu yang lebih besaruntuk daerah yang lintangnya tinggi, (3) Hilal harus berumur lebih dari 16.5 jam bagi pengamatdi daerah tropis dan lebih dari 20 jam bagi pengamat di daerah yang lintangnya lebihtinggi. Aplikabilitas pemikiran Mohammad Ilyas tentang kriteria visibilitas hilal (crescentvisibility) sebagai upaya penyatuan kalender Islam Internasional sampai saat ini belum dapatditerima oleh umat Islam di Indonesia. Hal ini disebabkan oleh perbedaan kriteria visibilitashilal yang dipakai oleh umat Islam di Indonesia (Kementerian Agama RI) dengan kriteriaIlyas. In this paper, we analyse how news images of the 2015 Syrian refugee ‘crisis’ visualise refugees and how, in so doing, they mobilise various forms of moral responsibility in ‘our’ mediated public life – various practical dispositions of action towards the misfortunes of migrants and refugees at Europe’s border. On the basis of empirical material from European news (June-December 2015), we construct a typology of visibilities of the ‘crisis’, each of which situates refugees within a different regime of visibility and claim to action: i) visibility as biological life, associated with monitorial action; ii) visibility as empathy associated with charitable action; iii) visibility as threat, associated with state security; iv) visibility as hospitality, associated with political activism; and v) visibility as self-reflexivity, associated with a post-humanitarian engagement with people like ‘us’. In conclusion, we argue that, important as these five categories of visibility are in introducing public dispositions to action towards the vulnerable, they nonetheless ultimately fail to humanise migrants and refugees. This failure to portray them as human beings with lives that are worth sharing should compel us, we urge, to radically re-think how we understand the media’s responsibility towards vulnerable others.

The notion of visibility and visible appears concentrated around a specific knot, which includes the complexity of an intersection of a presence and visibility. In other words, in order for a visibility to be achieved, the simple presence should be underlined by a specific function, a place that marks its relation to the sociocultural system it exists in. In the cases of gender and sexual minority identities the question of public space and visibility becomes crucial, since minorities are being exposed as otherness in relation to the dominant, heteropatriarchal system that labels them as such. This paper works with the issues of problematic visibilities, using the Pride parade in Belgrade 2009 as a case study, which is directly related to gender and sexual identity positions within the dominant majority-governed system. Abstract Short-range (2 h) predictions of ceiling and visibility obtained from version 4 of the Rapid Refresh (RAPv4) model are evaluated over Alaska using surface meteorological station data. These forecasts tended to overpredict the frequency of aviation-impacting ceilings in coastal areas by as much as 50%. In winter, this overforecasting bias extends into the interior of Alaska as well. Biases in visibility predictions were more complex. In winter, visibility hazards were predicted too often throughout the interior of Alaska (+5%) and not often enough in northern and western coastal areas (−20%). This wintertime underprediction of visibility restrictions in coastal areas has been linked to the fact that the visibility diagnostic does not include a treatment for the effect of blowing snow. This, in part, results in winter IFR visibilities being detected only 37% of the time. An efficient algorithm that uses quantile matching has been implemented to remove mean biases in 2-h predictions of ceiling and visibility. Performance of the algorithm is demonstrated using two 30-day periods (January and June 2019). The calibrated forecasts obtained for the two month-long periods are found to have significantly reduced biases and enhanced skill in capturing flight rules categories for both ceiling and visibility throughout much of Alaska. This technique can be easily extended to other forecast lead times or mesoscale models.

Estimation of Meteorological visibility from image characteristics is a challenging problem in the research of meteorological parameters estimation. Meteorological visibility can be used to indicate the weather transparency and this indicator is important for transport safety. This paper summarizes the outcomes of the experimental evaluation of a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based transfer learning method for meteorological visibility estimation method. This paper proposes a modified approach of the transfer learning method for visibility estimation by using PSO feature selection. Image data are collected at fixed location with fixed viewing angle. The database images were gone through a pre-processing step of gray-averaging so as to provide information of static landmark objects for automatic extraction of effective regions from images. Effective regions are then extracted from image database and the image features are then extracted from the Neural Network. Subset of Image features are selected based on the Particle Swarming Optimization (PSO) methods to obtain the image feature vectors for each effective sub-region. The image feature vectors are then used to estimate the visibilities of the images by using the Multiple Support Vector Regression (SVR) models. Experimental results show that the proposed method can give an accuracy more than 90% for visibility estimation and the proposed method is effective and robust.

Using interview data on LGBT young people’s policing experiences, I argue policing and security works as a program of government (Dean 1999; Foucault 1991; Rose 1999) that constrains the visibilities of diverse sexuality and gender in public spaces. While young people narrated police actions as discriminatory, the interactions were complex and multi-faceted with police and security working to subtly constrain the public visibilities of ‘queerness’. Same sex affection, for instance, was visibly yet unverifiably (Mason 2002) regulated by police as a method of governing the boundaries of proper gender and sexuality in public. The paper concludes by noting how the visibility of police interactions with LGBT young people demonstrates to the public that public spaces are, and should remain, heterosexual spaces.

In efforts to structure an expression for wave attenuation under a sand/dust storm, most established calculations pronounce optical visibility as an essential parameter. Although visibility information can be retrieved from weather stations, other commonly encountered sources may present it differently, i.e., as total suspended particles (TSP). Consequently, several empirical equations linking visibility to TSP concentrations were evaluated to address offset tendencies in estimations. In addition to substantiating specific equations, the results revealed that averaging a pair of equations has a 46.09% chance of estimating visibilities with a probability of 37.27%, a relatively low error compared to that achieved by employing single equations, which were found to have a probability of 28.93% with a lesser chance (29.58%) of a low estimation error for the same set of data. The resulting enhancement was evaluated by considering a study on a wireless sensor network’s (WSN’s) signal performance under vaguely labelled meteorological conditions. The meteorological conditions were converted to visibility using the results’ suggestions and were found to be in good agreement with an observation standard set by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) for sand/dust storm outbreak classifications.

SummaryVisibility is a capacity to be seen by others directly or through images and can be defined as a total social fact, which includes different domains of collective life. As Italian sociologist Andrea Mubi Brighenti argues, visibility is a form of “visuality at large” and the visible entails more than the visual, more than the sensorially perceptible, which becomes clear when we consider the fact that the visual itself needs to be visibilised, and examine the ways in which this happens. In the last decades visibility in a social sphere and media was largely “capitalised”. According to French sociologist Nathalie Heinich, the visibility capitalis firmly entrenched within Western society, culture and media. Non-material capital of visibility differs from other non-material symbolical or cultural capitals in Bourdieusian sense. This new phenomenon includes all features of classical material capital. The capital of visibility is measurable, accumulated, transmissible, earning interest and convertible. It can be measured by number of fans, showing results in Google search, number of views in YouTube, number of followers in social media Instagram, Facebook or number of images in other mass media.The cult of celebrity, the aspiration for visibility, and widespread practices of seeing within contemporary visual culture touched on many important social, political, cultural and intellectual spheres. Celebrity culture that arose out of the cinema industry underwent significant transformations, penetrated into existing social structures, fields and institutions. Visibility deeply changes cultural and intellectual life, influences our values and attitudes. The regime of visibility transforms social stratification by creating celebrities as a new social category called media elite. These persons are isolated from their original environment and placed in a context with its own logic and rules. These issues will be analysed using examples from the sphere of creative and cultural industries.

ABSTRACT This paper deals with the calibration of the analogue chains of a Square Kilometre Array (SKA) phased aperture array station, using embedded element patterns (one per antenna in the array, thus accounting for the full effects of mutual coupling) or average element patterns to generate model visibilities. The array is composed of 256 log-periodic dipole array antennas. A simulator capable of generating such per-baseline model visibility correlation matrices was implemented, which allowed for a direct comparison of calibration results using Statistically Efficient and Fast Calibration (StEFCal) with both pattern types. Calibrating the array with StEFCal using simulator-generated model visibilities was successful and thus constitutes a possible routine for calibration of an SKA phase aperture array station. In addition, results indicate that there was no significant advantage in calibrating with embedded element patterns, with StEFCal successfully retrieving similar per-element coefficients with model visibilities generated with either pattern type. This can be of significant importance for mitigating computational costs for calibration, particularly for the consideration of real-time calibration strategies. Data from the Aperture Array Verification System 1 prototype station in Western Australia was used for demonstration purposes.

The retrieval uses a multiple linear regression approach to relate satellite aerosol optical depth, fog/low cloud probability and thickness retrievals, and meteorological variables from numerical weather prediction forecasts to National Weather Service Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) surface visibility measurements. Validation using independent ASOS measurements shows that the GOES-R ABI surface visibility retrieval (V) has an overall success rate of 64.5 % for classifying clear (V ≥ 30 km), moderate (10 km ≤ V < 30 km), low (2 km ≤ V < 10 km), and poor (V < 2 km) visibilities and shows the most skill during June through September, when Heidke skill scores are between 0.2 and 0.4. We demonstrate that the aerosol (clear-sky) component of the GOES-R ABI visibility retrieval can be used to augment measurements from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Park Service (NPS) Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments (IMPROVE) network and provide useful information to the regional planning offices responsible for developing mitigation strategies required under the EPA's Regional Haze Rule, particularly during regional haze events associated with smoke from wildfires.

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan sampel berjumlah 103 orang yang merupakan pengguna Instagram yang telah memberikan like pada salah satu postingan instagram hasil endorsement Mister Cheesy. Adapun teknik pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan dengan metode total population sampling yang melibatkan seluruh anggota populasi sebagai sampel. Analisis regresi berganda dilakukan dalam penelitian ini dan menghasilkan perhitungan yang menyatakan bahwa karakteristik dari celebrity endorser, yaitu visibility, credibility, dan power memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap minat beli produk Mister Cheesy sedangkan karakteristik attractiveness tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam perusahaan Mister Cheesy, penampilan fisik dan daya tarik dari seorang endorser tidak menjadi faktor penting yang perlu dipertimbangkan dalam menentukan endorser. Abstract The development of a radiation fog layer at the Cabauw Experimental Site for Atmospheric Research (51.97°N, 4.93°E) on 23 March 2011 was observed with ground-based in situ and remote sensing observations to investigate the relationship between visibility and radar reflectivity. The fog layer thickness was less than 200 m. Radar reflectivity values did not exceed −25 dBZ even with visibilities less than 100 m. The onset and evaporation of fog produce different radar reflectivity–visibility relationships. The evolution of the fog layer was modeled with a droplet activation model that used the aerosol size distribution observed at the 60-m altitude tower level as input. Radar reflectivity and visibility were calculated from model drop size spectra using Mie scattering theory. Since radiative cooling rates are small in comparison with cooling rates due to adiabatic lift of aerosol-laden air, the modeled supersaturation remains low so that few aerosol particles are activated to cloud droplets. The modeling results suggest that the different radar reflectivity–visibility relationships are the result of differences in the interplay between water vapor and cloud droplets during formation and evaporation of the fog. During droplet activation, only a few large cloud droplets remain after successfully competing for water vapor with the smaller activated droplets. These small droplets eventually evaporate (deactivate) again. In the fog dissolution/evaporation stage, only these large droplet need to be evaporated. Therefore, to convert radar reflectivity to visibility for traffic safety products, knowledge of the state of local fog evolution is necessary.

Abstrak – Telah dilakukan sebuah studi mengenai hubungan suhu dan tekanan udara lingkungan landasan pacu (runway) bandara terhadap visibilitas fatamorgana. Pengamatan fatamorgana dilakukan di landasan pacu Bandara Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) yang berlokasi di Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar, Aceh, Indonesia. Waktu pengamatan kemunculan dan kehilangan fatamorgana adalah mulai dari sejak matahari terbit pada pagi hari hingga terbenam pada sore hari, yaitu mulai dari jam 07.00 WIB sampai 18.00 WIB dan dicatat tingkat visibilitasnya. Data suhu dan tekanan udara lingkungan didapatkan dari basis data yang dikumpulkan oleh Stasiun Meteorologi Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar, Aceh, Indonesia. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa pada saat cuaca cerah, fatamorgana telah muncul sejak matahari terbit dan terus menyebar dari jam 07.00 WIB sampai 13.00 WIB hingga mencapai keadaan paling tebal pada jam 13.00 WIB-15.00 WIB. Selanjutnya fatamorgana mengalami sedikit penyusutan pada jam 15.00 WIB-18.00 WIB, namun demikian masih tampak hingga matahari terbenam. Fatamorgana dapat hilang total bila hujan turun dengan cukup lebat. Sedangkan pada saat cuaca mendung atau gerimis, fatamorgana masih dapat diamati dengan jelas. Suhu terendah dimana fatamorgana masih dapat diamati adalah 26 ºC. Hasil pengamatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa perubahan suhu dan tekanan udara rata-rata di lingkungan landasan pacu dapat mempengaruhi visibilitas fenomena fatamorgana melalui pengaruhnya pada gradien suhu udara di atas permukaan landasan pacu tersebut. Densitas udara lingkungan berbanding lurus terhadap suhu dan berbanding terbalik terhadap tekanan. Semakin tinggi densitas udara lingkungan, semakin tipis fatamorgana yang terlihat. Semakin rendah densitas udara lingkungan, maka fatamorgana yang muncul semakin tebal. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa suhu dan tekanan udara lingkungan adalah parameter yang baik yang menggambarkan visibilitas fatamorgana. Dengan demikian profil suhu dan tekanan udara lingkungan landasan pacu dapat diketahui melalui pengamatan fatamorgana pada landasan pacu bandara.Kata kunci: fatamorgana, visibilitas, suhu, tekanan, indeks bias udaraAbstract – A study about the relationship of the temperature and pressure of the surrounding air in the airpot runway to the visibility mirage was done. The location for the mirage observation is in Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) airport runway, located in Blang Bintang District, Aceh, Indonesia. Observation time of the mirage appearance and disappereance is started from sunrise to sunset, namely from 7.00 AM at the morning to 6.00 PM at the evening, and recorded its visibility level. Data for the air surrounding temperature and pressure used was taken from the database of the Blang Bintang Meteorological Station, located in the airport. The results show that during a sunny weather, mirage emerges since sunrise and continues to spread from 7.00 AM to 1.00 PM reaching the thickest level at 1.00 PM till 3.00 PM. The mirage then experiences a slight shrinkage at 3.00 PM–6.00 PM and still be observed until sunset. The mirage can be totally lost when rains heavily. While in a cloudy or drizzle weather, the mirage can still be observed clearly. The lowest temperature in which the mirage can still be observed was 26 ºC. The results also shows that the changes in temperature and pressure of the surrounding air in the runway environment can affect the visibility of the mirage phenomenon through its effect to the air temperature gradient above the runway surface since the air density is directly proportional to the temperature and inversely proportional to the pressure. The greater the air density, the thinner the mirage observed. The smaller the air density, the thicker the mirage is. This shows that the surrounding air temperature and pressure in the airport runway are good parameter representing the visibility of a mirage. Thus, the temperature and pressure profile of the air surrounding of the airport runway can be studied by observing a mirage in the airport.Key words: mirage, visibility, airport runway, temperature, pressure

Las conclusiones reflejan las múltiples causas por las que un sitio web tiene mayor visibilidad en la Red, tomando como referencia los entornos digitales de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos en el ámbito de la Comunidad de Madrid.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas faktor penghambat delimitasi batas darat yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah Indonesia dan Timor Leste pada unresolved segment di Desa Manusasi periode 2014-2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan issue-level approach dari kajian sengketa wilayah yang menyatakan bahwa kombinasi faktor kewilayahan dan visibilitas domestik merupakan faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap dinamika sengketa wilayah. Dalam hal ini, dinamika sengketa yang masih berlangsung namun relatif stabil disebabkan karena kombinasi kewilayahan yang memiliki nilai, baik tampak maupun tidak tampak, namun visibilitas di level nasional kurang. Argumennya, wilayah yang memiliki nilai tertentu akan sulit diselesaikan sehingga memerlukan waktu lama. Namun kurangnya visibilitas sengketa diantara masyarakat di level nasional membuat tensi tetap stabil dikarenakan absennya tekanan dari masyarakat kepada pemerintah untuk menyelesaikan sengketa ini. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kombinasi kedua faktor ini juga berpengaruh dalam kasus delimitasi batas darat Indonesia-Timor Leste di Manusasi hingga 2018.Kata Kunci: Delimitasi Batas Darat, Indonesia-Timor Leste, Desa Manusasi (Bijael Sunan-Oben)This research aims to discuss factors inhibiting land border delimitation between Indonesia and Timor Leste on the unresolved segment in Manusasi Village between 2014 and 2018. This research uses issue-level approach from the study of territorial dispute which stated that the combination of territoriality and domestic visibility are among factors contributing to the dynamics of territorial disputes. In this case, the dynamics of the dispute which was still ongoing yet relatively stable is the result of the combination of its territoriality which is salient for its tangible or intangible value. However, the lack of visibility among audience at the national level keep the tension of the dispute stable because of the lack of pressure from the society to the government to solve this dispute. Abstract Smoke from wildland burning in association with fog has been implicated as a visibility hazard over roadways in the United States. Visibilities at accident sites have been estimated in the range from 1 to 3 m (extinction coefficients between 1000 and 4000). Temperature and relative humidity measurements were taken from 29 “smokes” during 2002 and 2003. These data were converted to a measure of the mass of water vapor present to the mass of dry air containing the vapor (smoke mixing ratio). Smoke temperatures were processed through a simple radiation model before smokes were mixed with ambient air with temperature and moisture observed during the early morning on the days following the burns. Calculations show supersaturations implying liquid water contents (LWC) up to 17 times as large as LWC found in natural fog. Simple models combining fog droplet number density, droplet size, and LWC show that the supersaturation LWC of smokes is capable of reducing visibility to the ranges observed.

Abstract This work examines the viability of producing short-range (&lt;20 h) probabilistic fog predictions in remote locations, absent an observational history, using an uncalibrated 4-km, 10-member Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) ensemble configured to closely match the Air Force Weather Agency Mesoscale Ensemble Forecast Suite. Three distinct sources of error in the final predictions are considered separately to facilitate a better understanding of the total error and appropriate mitigation strategies. These include initial condition error, parameterization of subgrid-scale processes, and error in the visibility parameterization used to convert NWP model output variables to visibility. The raw WRF predictions are generally not skillful in valley and coastal regions, where they produce a shortage of light fog predictions with visibilities of 1–7 mi (1.6–11.3 km) in favor of excessive forecasts of zero cloud water, corresponding to no fog. Initial condition error and visibility parameterization error are shown to play a relatively minor role compared to error in the parameterization of subgrid-scale processes. This deficiency is caused by a negative relative humidity bias, which results from a warm overnight bias. A second-order source of error arises from an inconsistent delineation of fog and haze in the NWP model compared to the verifying observations. Results show that under most conditions it is necessary to deviate from the perfect-prog assumption, and to introduce some method of statistical postprocessing to obtain skillful visibility predictions from the ensemble.

Fog and low visibility present a natural hazard for aviation in the Hudson Bay region. Sixteen communities on the eastern and western shores of Hudson and James Bays, Canada, were selected for fog, ice fog, and low visibility statistical analyses for a range of 21 to 62 year time series. Both fog hours and ice fog hours were found to be in general decline, with some locations experiencing statistically significant declines. Spatial asymmetries for fog and ice fog were observed among the various areas within the Hudson Bay region. The more northerly locations in this study experienced statistically significant declines in fog hours while the southerly locations’ declines were not significant. Fog was significantly declining in some western Hudson Bay locations during spring and fall and in James Bay during winter and summer, but minimal trends were observed in eastern Hudson Bay. For ice fog hours, all of the locations in the western shore of Hudson Bay experienced a significant decline in winter while only one-third of the locations in eastern shores were found to be declining significantly during winter. Blowing snow, snow, ice and fog were the leading causes for reduced and low visibilities at the majority of the locations. Other factors such as rain contributed a minor role to low visibility.

Banyak penelitian empiris terkait pengaruh ICSR terhadap profitabilitas menunjukan hasil yang beragam. Misspesifikasi model penelitian dan strategi ICSR dapat menjadi sebab hasil tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap kinerja keuangan bank syariah dengan mempertimbankan reputasi sebagai variabel mediasi dan visibilitas sebagai variabel yang memoderasi pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode PLS SEM digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis. 10 bank syariah di Indonesia pada periode 2014-2019 dijadikan sebagai sampel. Hasil estimasi menunjukan bahwa pengungkapan ICSR berpengaruh positif baik terhadap reputasi maupun profitabilitas. Visibilitas bank syariah juga terbukti memoderasi pengaruh pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi bank. Meskipun demikian, Reputasi tidak terbukti memediasi pengaruh ICSR terhadap profitabilitas bank syariah. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini adala pentingnya pengungkapan ICSR bagi bank syariah karena dapat mempengaruhi reputasi dan profitabilitas perusahaan. Meskipun reputasi sendiri tidak terbukti memberikan pengaruh terhadap profitabilitas, reputasi dapat menjadi sumber daya strategis bagi bank. Selain itu, bagi bank syariah dengan visibilitas tinggi, pengungkapan ICSR menjadi sangat penting karena dampaknya yang lebih besar yang terbukti dapat memperkuat hubungan pengungkapan ICSR terhadap reputasi.Kata Kunci: Pengungkapan Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility, Variabel Mediasi, Variabel Moderasi, Profitabilitas, Bank Syariah. ABSTRACTICSR disclosure becomes an important issue that could effect reputation and profitability of Islamic Bank. a lot of empirical research on the effect of ICSR disclosure to profitability indicates an inconsistent result. Misspecification of the research model and the ICSR strategy could be the cause of it. The study aims to examine the impact of ICSR disclosure to profitability by considering reputation as a mediating variable and visibility as a variable that moderates the effect of ICSR disclosure on reputation. Quantitative approach with PLS SEM method is applied to confirm the hypothesis. 10 Indonesian Islamic Banks on 2014-2019 period are take as a sample. The estimation results show that ICSR disclosure has positive effect on reputation and profitability. It also indicates that Islamic bank visibility moderates the correlation between ICSR disclosure and reputation. However, Islamic bank reputation isn’t proven to mediate the correlation between ICSR disclosure and the profitability. The implication of the study result is that ICSR disclosure is important for the Islamic banks because it can affect its reputation and profitability. Although reputation itself is not proven to affect profitability, it can be a strategic resource for a bank. In addition, for high-visibility Islamic banks, disclosure of ICSR is crutial because of its greater impact that is proven to affect the relationship of ICSR disclosure to reputation.Keywords: Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure, Mediating Variable, Moderating Variable, Profitability, Islamic Bank.

Abstract. When it comes to business and marketing, huge outdoor advertising is considered as one of the best ways by contributing largely in disseminating information about a product, service or even raise awareness. With commuters or the people riding in a moving car as its target audience, the placement of advertising materials is very crucial since it should be visible and must deliver its message in a short span of time. This study tests the methodology of gathering data using action camera and DSLR mounted and situated on a moving vehicle, utilizing structure from motion techniques, to extract the geometry of the billboards from the point cloud generated from structure-from-motion as acquired from camera videos that would be used to represent these billboards in the three-dimensional space. These extracted geometries would be used for visibility analysis from a passenger’s point of view by assessing the percentage of visible content and logos of each billboard from each point of observation along the path of a moving vehicle. The results of this study are nine sets of mean percent visibilities and raster representations that show the mean percent visibility of the billboards as viewed from the road of interest. To assess product placement effectiveness of the billboards, visibility percentage of the product logos contained in the nine billboards was also obtained.

This article draws upon a large-scale survey of professional (public institution and private company) drone usage in Switzerland. The authors argue that professional drone usage includes a wide range of applications and objectives and, thus, logics of vision and visibility. Instead of being systematic and predictable, the visibilities created by professional drone usage are punctual in occurrence, highly varying in spatial logics and articulations, and, therefore, often unpredictable. This raises important questions and problems with regard to the power dynamics unfolding from the visual and visualising capabilities of the technology that reach far beyond the usual focus on surveillance in current academic engagements with the topic.

This paper is about the racial and colonial inequalities of visibility within surveillance structures that seek to monitor and regulate bodies within the contemporary Canadian context. Specifically, it addresses what and how creative projects can contribute to this discussion by focusing on a particular artwork, Thomas Kneubühler’s Access Denied (2007). This work engages surveillance through the personification of the security apparatus by centralizing the bodies of those who are positioned to enforce the policies of this structure. Using Kneubühler’s artwork as the central case study, this paper thinks through what questions this project can ask of visibilities, corporeal economies, and the racialized politics of Canadian surveillance in the context of the War on Terror.

Resumen
Although the scientific method has reached deeply into our intellectual and social life, there are places where it stops short, where its limitations become evident to us all. In these cases we discover that science can go about its explanations in its usual way, but that it does not tell us anything very interesting, and especially not what we most want to know. Let us think of music and painting, drama and ballet. No doubt a scientific method can tell us something about them, but nothing very important or enlightening, perhaps something about their acoustical or chromatic materials, or some sort of evolutionary background. The scientists who try to go further than that in their explanations of the arts have earned a reputation for being reductionist in the bad sense. It is also my view that the incompetence of science becomes evident when it is applied to the interpretation of law and religion, love and many other forms of human aspiration -- but I shall not argue that point here. For what I hope to show is that the study of an elementary, fundamental human experience, seeing, is best pursued by certain philosophical methods that are not what we call scientific. The same applies to hearing. Many scientific studies have been made of seeing and hearing, but in my view they have not succeeded in the way that philosophy has in revealing the true character of these experiences. I shall devote the first two sections of this paper to outlining one philosophical approach to seeing that I regard as successful -- an approach I develop by working through key sections of Heidegger's Being and Time -- and then, in the concluding section, I point to the defects that I believe mark the approach of psychology and cognitive science.

Abstract Beauty can be a source of self-making within a political community, and that self can display moral autonomy via publicly visible and invisible practices while still adhering to a community. At a time of transition during the early 2000s from militarized resistance to urban civil politics, radical democracy, and gender ideals, older militarized notions of the Kurdish self, body, and beauty were changing. In a context of heightened visibility within the movement, women active in the Kurdish movement responded by recrafting their femininities, using beautification practices as a modern, urban, and empowering political tool. But beautification of the new self also entailed often sticky negotiations over the moral boundaries between the self and the movement, producing anxieties over what and who should constitute the moral. As women's actions, public roles, and visibilities became important indicators of the Kurdish movement's political success, their beauty practices and beautiful visibilities came to be viewed through the urgent need for moral unity. Central to Kurdish women activists' experience of and response to the political and social transformations going on around them, the integration of beauty practices into their politics placed moral autonomy at the center of the construction of new models of Kurdish femininity.

Bragg coherent diffraction with nanofocused hard X-ray beams provides unique opportunities for quantitative in situ studies of crystalline structure in nanoscale regions of complex materials and devices by a variety of diffraction-based techniques. In the case of coherent diffraction imaging, a major experimental challenge in using nanoscale coherent beams is maintaining a constant scattering volume such that coherent fringe visibility is maximized and maintained over the course of an exposure lasting several seconds. Here, we present coherent Bragg diffraction patterns measured from different nanostructured thin films at the Sector 26 Nanoprobe beamline at the Advanced Photon Source and demonstrate that with nanoscale positional control, coherent diffraction patterns can be measured with source-limited fringe visibilities more than 50% suitable for imaging by coherent Bragg ptychography techniques.

Résumé La technique de l’analyse syntaxique de la visibilité (Visibility Graph Analysis – VGA) et de l’accessibilité (All Line Analysis – ALA) par logiciel “DepthMap©(UCL, Londres)” et l’analyse du dysfonctionnement wayfinding par méthode “movement traces”, sont utilisées dans ce papier afin de développer un modèle d’analyse et d’investigation de l’impact des changements spatiaux sur le dysfonctionnement socio-spatial du wayfinding, ainsi sur la reproduction urbaine, notamment les transformations des façades et l’appropriation des espaces extérieurs dans les grands ensembles en Algérie. Nous donnons ici le cas d’étude de la cité 1000 logt-Biskra et la cité 500 logt-M’sila. Afin de vérifier cette hypothèse, un modèle d’analyse hybride a été développé par croisement des résultats d’analyses des deux techniques. Par conséquent, le schéma de l’interférence montre que la majorité des piétons préfèrent parcourir les axes courts et droits — caractérisés par une forte propriété syntaxique de visibilité et d’accessibilité (l’intégration, la connectivité et l’intelligibilité) — en directions des équipements adjacents et aux milieux des deux cités. Ces itinéraires ont un impact sur les transformations des façades et l’appropriation des espaces extérieurs. Le modèle développé promet de futures recherches sur le plan de la quantification, la modélisation et la simulation du processus de la reproduction urbaine, notamment par les automates cellulaires.

Nous avons rendu disponibles, en libre accès sur internet, les collections de mémoires et de thèses soutenues à l’Université de Bobo Dioulasso et à l’Université de Ouagadougou 1 (Burkina Faso). L’analyse des données de consultation (« fichiers de log » présents sur le serveur hôte) permet de produire plusieurs indicateurs concernant l’impact et la visibilité internationale des documents constituants les collections. Nous présentons la répartition temporelle et géographique des consultations, les fréquences des accès spécifiques à chaque document, la nature des questions, l’impact des moteurs de recherche. Ces résultats montrent qu’en mettant à disposition sur Internet des documents scientifiques produits par des institutions africaines, l’importance de leur visibilité et de leur impact peuvent être démontrés en utilisant les données de consultation disponibles sur le serveur. La comparaison de ces données avec celles disponibles pour les documents en libre accès de l’Institut français pour le développement (IRD) permet de conclure que les niveaux de consultation pour les publications scientifiques des pays du « Nord » et du « Sud » sont assez similaires.Two major collections of dissertations and theses defended at the University of Bobo Dioulasso and the University of Ouagadougou 1 have been made available open access on the Internet. The data analysis of accesses available via the host server makes it possible to produce several indicators concerning the impact and the international visibility of the available documents. We will present the temporal and geographical distribution of the consultations, the specific frequencies for each document, the nature of the questions, the impact of the search engines. These results seem to show that by making available on the Internet scientific documents produced by African institutions their visibility and impact are demonstrable with the data collected by the server. A comparison of these data with those available for the open access documents of the French Institute for Development (IRD) show that the levels of consultation for scientific publications from "Northern" and "Southern" countries are quite similar.
