In this dissertation, I introduce a vortex method that is generally applicable to any two-dimensional, incompressible flow with or without boundaries. This method is deterministic, accurate, convergent, naturally adaptive, geometry independent and fully localized. For viscous flows, the vorticity distribution of each vortex element must evolve in addition to following a Lagrangian trajectory. My method relies upon an idea called core spreading. In this thesis, we considered electrically charged vortex solutions of Born- Infeld Chern-Simons gauge theory in 2+1 dimensions, with a sixth order charged scalar eld potential. For this purpose, rst Nielsen-Olesen vortex solutions are extensively reviewed. Then, Born-Infeld and Chern-Simons theories are summarized. Finally, vortex solutions are obtained for the Born-Infeld-Higgs system with a Chern-Simons term. These solutions are analyzed numerically, comparing their properties with Nielsen-Olesen vortices.

We have studied the stationary solutions to the two-dimensional Euler's equation. A highly accurate scheme, based on boundary integral techniques was used in investigating these steady-state configurations. Bifurcation analysis on the solution of a uniform vortex patch in an externally applied strain field, yield new non-elliptical steady-state solutions apart from the elliptical structures reported by Moore & Saffman. Avšak u malých bezpilotních prostředků, které většinu času stráví ve visu (např. multicoptery), pracují vrtule při nízkých Reynoldsových číslech, případně i v režimu odtržení. Tyto problémy a efekty spojené s rotací jsou řešeny pomocí korekcí aerodynamických koeficientů a aplikovány na vírovou teorii. In this thesis, the superconductive and superresistive properties of thin percolating films of lead nanoclusters are presented. The samples were created by depositing clusters from an inert gas aggregation cluster source onto substrates held at either room temperature or 10K. Observations of the characteristic behaviours of the samples were made through R(T ) and V (I) measurements. Several interesting features were observed - smooth and discrete steps in the R(I) curves, hysteresis between increasing and decreasing bias currents, and non-zero resistances at superconducting temperatures. The Counter-Rotating Open Rotors (CROR) are identified as a possible alternative to turbofan engines for middle-range aircrafts. In this work, the Prandtl-Batchelor theorem is extended to three-dimensional flows slowly varying in one direction by using asymptotic techniques, and thus overcoming the problem of having non-closed streamlines for recirculating three-dimensional flows. The derived equations turned out to be an analogue of the quasi-cylindrical equations used for describing behavior of streamwise vortices, rotating jets, vortex breakdown phenomenon and some other problems.
