Bio-char with rich pore structure was obtained by pyrolysis of enteromorpha clathrate (EC) and subsequent activation process. SnO<sub>x</sub> nanocrystalline aggregates (NAs) encapsulated by an amorphous TiO<sub>2</sub> layer have been successfully designed by a one-step flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) method. As an anode in LIBs, the SnO<sub>x</sub> NAs@TiO<sub>2</sub> electrode exhibits a capacity of 350 mA h g<sup>−1</sup> after 300 cycles at a current density of 200 mA g<sup>−1</sup>, which is much superior to pure SnO<sub>x</sub> NAs and TiO<sub>2</sub> NAs.
