AbstractThe Friction Stir Welding process usually produces weld members of good quality compared to composite weld made with a standard welding process. However, there is a possibility of the formation of various defects if the input parameters are not properly selected. In the recent case study, an image-based feature recognition system using the Fourier conversion method which is a computer visual recognition tool is developed. However, some weak signal may be ignored by EMD resulting in modal missing. Butterworth filter is an electronic filter designed to have flat frequency response. In the present paper, a new design method for continuous-time powersymmetric active RC filters for Hybrid Filter Bank (HFB) is proposed. Some theoretical properties of continious-time power-symmetric filters bank in a more general perspective are studied. This includes the derivation of a new general analytical form, and a study of poles and zeros locations in s-plane. In the proposed design method the analytic solution of filter coefficients is solved in sdomain using only one nonlinear equation Finally, the proposed approximation is compared to standard approximations. In this study, a fifth-order lowpass log-domain Butterworth filter, which is appropriate for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi receiver, is designed with signal flow graph approach. The filter is realized by using a unique translinear integrator circuit. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modes are obtained without changing the circuit configuration. To change the mode of the filter, it is needed to change the cutoff frequency of the filter that can be electronically tuned by adjusting the external currents. Kiss-GAIT was developed using Delphi and is confined to calculations related to the standard gait protocol. Because the code lacks the flexibility required to carry out various test cases, the inverse dynamics formulation being used could not be verified and the extent of the error propagation problem could not be determined so far. Firstly, this thesis investigates the electrical power harmonics in an attempt to utilize harmonic current and its distortion power in a novel idea to reconvert the distortion power into useful power. This is done, in order to feed different DC or AC loads in single and three-phase power system by using passive or active filters and accordingly, develop a new topology of hybrid active power filter (HAPF). In addition, this circuit can be considered as a power factor corrector (PFC) because it reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD) and improves the power factor (PF). Secondly, this thesis

Résumé :
A microwave filter is a two-port component usually employed when there is a need to control the frequency response at any given point in a microwave system. They provide transmission at certain frequencies, which are known as the passband frequencies, and attenuation at other frequencies, which are referred to as the stopband frequencies. The frequencies outside the passband are attenuated or reflected. Microwave filter is often named after the polynomial used to form its transfer function (i.e., Chebyshev, Butterworth [or maximally flat], Elliptical, etc.). The filter can be further sub-divided into four categorises (i.e., lowpass, highpass, bandstop, and bandpass filters) according to its frequency responses. This chapter gives a detailed discussion on filter classification and transfer function. It also covers the analysis, design, and implementation of a test microwave filter using the 21st century SIW transmission line. The simulation and measurement results of the test filter is also presented, compared, and discussed.

Résumé :
An overview of the image noise models and the de-noising techniques available are presented here. Basically, filtering is one of the de-noising approaches that is normally performed in both spatial and frequency domains. Thus, this chapter focuses on these two approaches. Few filters like mean, median, sharpening, and adaptive median filter are discussed under spatial domain. In the frequency domain, as Butterworth filter suits better for images, Butterworth low pass, high pass, and band pass filters along with homomorphic filters are also analyzed. It also provides a comparative analysis of these approaches for both synthetic and medical images with some performance measures.

Résumé :
In this work, an attempt has been made to analyze the influence of the frequencies bands in uterine electromyography (uEMG) signals on the detection of preterm birth. The signals recorded from the women’s abdomen during pregnancy are considered in this study. The signals are subjected to preprocessing using digital bandpass Butterworth filter and decomposed into different frequency bands namely, 0.3-1.0 Hz (F1), 1.0-2.0 Hz (F2) and 2.0-3.0Hz (F3). Spectral features namely, peak magnitude, peak frequency, mean frequency and median frequency are extracted from the power spectrum. Classification models namely, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine and random forest are employed to distinguish the term and preterm conditions. The results show that the features extracted from these frequency bands are able to differentiate term and preterm condition. Particularly, the frequency band F3 performs better than other frequency bands. The features associated with these frequencies along with random forest classification model achieves a maximum accuracy of 75.2%. Thus, these measures could be used to accurately detect the preterm birth well in advance.
