Résumé :
Abstract We consider the situations, when two unbounded operators generated by infinite Jacobi matrices, are self-adjoint and commute. It is found that if two Jacobi matrices formally commute, then two corresponding operators are either self-adjoint and commute, or admit a commuting self-adjoint extensions. In the latter case such extensions are explicitly described. Also, some necessary and sufficient conditions for self-adjointness of Jacobi operators are studied.

The existence of self adjoint determinations with a ground state of zero or even negative energy is a proved fact. In this paper, we analyze the possibility of constructing SUSY partners for those determinations. We also study those cases for which the ground state has a degeneracy,

Let −DpD be a differential operator on the compact interval [−b, b] whose leading coefficient is positive on (0, b] and negative on [−b, 0), with fixed, separated, self-adjoint boundary conditions at b and −b and an additional interface condition at 0. The self-adjoint extensions of the corresponding minimal differential operator are non-semibounded and are related to non-semibounded sesquilinear forms by a generalization of Kato's representation theorems. The theory of non-semibounded sesquilinear forms is applied to this concrete situation. In particular, the generalized Friedrichs extension

The adjoint function of connection number has unique advantages in solving uncertainty problems of water resource complex systems, and has become an important frontier and research hotspot in the uncertainty research of water resource complex problems. However, in the rapid evolution of the adjoint function, some problems greatly limit the application of the adjoint function in the research of water resources. Therefore, based on bibliometric analysis, development, practical application issues, and prospects of the hot directions are analyzed. It is found that the development of the connection

Résumé :
In contrast to the situation in classical linear algebra, not every tropically non-singular matrix can be factored into a product of tropical elementary matrices. We do prove the factorizability of any tropically non-singular 2 × 2 matrix and, relating to the existing Bruhat decomposition, determine which 3 × 3 matrices are factorizable. Nevertheless, there is a closure operation, obtained by means of the tropical adjoint, which is always factorizable, generalizing the decomposition of the closure operation * of a matrix.

SUMMARY We present a novel approach for imaging global mantle discontinuities based on full-waveform inversion (FWI). Over the past decades, extensive research has been done on imaging mantle discontinuities at approximately 400 and 670 km depth. Accurate knowledge of their topography can put strong constraints on thermal and compositional variations and hence geodynamic modelling. So far, however, there is little consensus on their topography. We present an approach based on adjoint tomography, which has the advantage that Fréchet derivatives for discontinuities and measurements, to be invert

The variation of spectral subspaces for linear self-adjoint operators under an additive bounded semidefinite perturbation is considered. A variant of the Davis-Kahan sin2Θ theorem adapted to this situation is proved. Under a certain additional geometric assumption on the separation of the spectrum of the unperturbed operator, this leads to a sharp estimate on the norm of the difference of the spectral projections associated with isolated components of the spectrum of the perturbed and unperturbed operators, respectively. Without this additional geometric assumption on the isolated components o

We consider a singular Sturm—Liouville expression with the indefinite weight sgn x. There is a self-adjoint operator in some Krein space associated naturally with this expression. We characterize the local definitizability of this operator in a neighbourhood of ∞. Moreover, in this situation, the point ∞ is a regular critical point. We construct an operator A = (sgn x)(−d2/dx2 + q) with non-real spectrum accumulating to a real point. The results obtained are applied to several classes of Sturm—Liouville operators.

Abstract Let 𝔔 be a reduced left-sided and left-stable quantale without zero divisors. This paper shows how the systematic use of the «quantization» of 2 viewed as a regular and strict right 𝔔-subalgebra of 𝔔 can both strengthen and simplify the rather complicated construction of quantale-enriched topologies given for semi-unital and semi-integral quantales in the original paper [3]. The underlying structure for this new construction is an adjoint situation between the dual category of semi-unital, semi-integral quantales and quantized topological spaces.

The study of flapping-wing aerodynamics faces a large control space with different wing kinematics and deformation. The adjoint-based approach, by solving an inverse problem to obtain simultaneously the sensitivity with respect to all control parameters, has a computational cost independent of the number of control parameters and becomes an efficient tool for the study of problems with a large control space. However, the adjoint equation is typically formulated in a fixed fluid domain. In a continuous formulation, a moving boundary or morphing domain results in inconsistency in the definition

A recently proposed approach for avoiding the ultraviolet divergence of Hamiltonians with particle creation is based on interior-boundary conditions (IBCs). The approach works well in the non-relativistic case, i.e., for the Laplacian operator. Here, we study how the approach can be applied to Dirac operators. While this has successfully been done already in one space dimension, and more generally for codimension-1 boundaries, the situation of point sources in three dimensions corresponds to a codimension-3 boundary. One would expect that, for such a boundary, Dirac operators do not allow for

Résumé :
Abstract This paper concerns notions of Booleanness in the setting of partial frames, which, in contrast to full frames, do not necessarily have all joins. Examples of these include bounded distributive lattices, σ- and κ-frames. We provide four distinct conditions which all reduce in the case of full frames to each element having a complement. These concepts depend heavily on the free frame over a partial frame, the congruence frame of a partial frame and the relations between them. We also examine the adjoint situation between the congruences of a partial frame and those of its free frame.

Abstract The purpose of the following is to try to make sense of the stereo- graphic projection in a non-commutative setup. To this end, we consider the open unit ball of a ternary ring of operators, which naturally comes equipped with a non-commutative version of a hyperbolic metric and ask for a manifold onto which the open unit ball can be mapped so that one might think of this situation as providing a noncommutative analog to mapping the open disk of complex numbers onto the hyperboloid in three space, equipped with the restriction of the Minkowskian metric.
