Introdução: O dispositivo intrauterino (DIU) é um contraceptivo eficaz e de longa duração que tem se difundido como método de escolha para mulheres de diversas classes sociais, possui baixo custo e é oferecido no Brasil pelo Sistema Único de Saúde. Complicações ao uso são raras e, entre elas, a perfuração uterina pode acontecer em 0,01% dos casos. Introdução: O câncer de colo uterino, também chamado de câncer cervical, é causado pela infecção persistente por alguns tipos de papilomavírus humano (HPV), chamados tipos oncogênicos. A efetividade da detecção precoce do câncer de colo uterino por meio do exame Papanicolau associado ao tratamento da lesão intraepitelial pode reduzir em 90% a incidência da doença, diminuindo as taxas de morbimortalidade.
