The advancement seen in the field of health tech mobile applications has highlighted that reliable and performance-oriented evaluation techniques must be implemented. This research paper seeks to establish the methods of test automation specific to health tech mobile apps, and how the identified strategies can improve on the quality of the health tech apps while reducing the time spent in testing. The paper will start by presenting a critique of the conventional testing methods and their drawbacks in the context of health tech not only because of the complicated and life-critical nature of the applications being developed, but also because of the automation requirement. It then goes through enshrined testing approaches such as automated testing for test cases, test case executions and maintenance of the test data and the incorporation of new tools that are usually unique for the development of the Mobile health applications. The study compares these strategies based on various real-life case studies that focus on the performance of health tech apps in increasing the testing outcomes, testing accuracy, and testing coverage. Research highlights prove that with an increase in the scale of use of automated testing, the testing cycle time is cut, while the number of detected defects and the quality of applications are enhanced. The paper also addresses issues that could be a problem with automatic testing like handling interactive applications and issues of sustaining test scripts. Recommendations are presented based on the strategies for automation testing in health technology and highlight that the integration and testing should be done continuously at all stages of the application’s development. This research contributes to the existing knowledge regarding the usage of automated testing for the peculiarities of health tech mobile app, and the improvement of their quality and effectiveness as they propagate under the dynamic technology space.

Résumé :
Mobile apps are everywhere. The release of apps on a worldwide scale requires them to be made available in many languages, including bidirectional languages. Developers and translators are usually different persons. While automatic testing by itself is important in general in order to be able to develop high quality software, such automatic tests become absolutely essential when developers that do not possess enough knowledge about right-to-left languages need to maintain code that is written for bidirectional languages. A few bidirectional localization tests of mobile applications exist. However, their functionality is limited since they only cover translations and adoption of locales. In this paper we present our approach for automating the bidirectional localization testing for Android applications with a complete consideration for BiDi-languages issues. The objective is to check for any localization defects in the product. The proposed methods are used to test issues of bidirectional apps in general and specifically for the Arabic language. The results show that the methods are able to effectively reveal deficiencies in the app’s design, ensure that the localized app matches all expectations of local users, and guarantee that the product is culturally congruent to local conventions.

Résumé :
Mobile medical score calculator apps are widely used among practitioners to help make decisions regarding patient treatment and diagnosis. Errors in score definition, input, or calculations can result in severe and potentially life-threatening situations. Despite these high stakes, there has been no systematic or rigorous effort to examine and verify score calculator apps. We address these issues via a novel, interval-based score checking approach. Based on our observation that medical reference tables themselves may contain errors (which can propagate to apps) we first introduce automated correctness checking of reference tables. Specifically, we reduce score correctness checking to partition checking (coverage and non-overlap) over score parameters' ranges. We checked 12 scoring systems used in emergency, intensive, and acute care. Surprisingly, though some of these scores have been used for decades, we found errors in 5 score specifications: 8 coverage violations and 3 non-overlap violations. Second, we design and implement an automatic, dynamic analysis-based approach for verifying score correctness in a given Android app; the approach combines efficient, automatic GUI extraction and app exploration with partition/consistency checking to expose app errors. We applied the approach to 90 Android apps that implement medical score calculators. We found 23 coverage violations in 11 apps; 32 non-overlap violations in 12 apps, and 16 incorrect score calculations in 16 apps. We reported all findings to developers, which so far has led to fixes in 6 apps.

Résumé :
SummaryObjective: The objective of this study was to investigate and improve the use of automated data collection procedures for nursing research and quality assurance. Methods: A descriptive, correlational study analyzed 44 orthopedic surgical patients who were part of an evidence-based practice (EBP) project examining post-operative oxygen therapy at a Midwestern hospital. The automation work attempted to replicate a manually-collected data set from the EBP project. Results: Automation was successful in replicating data collection for study data elements that were available in the clinical data repository. The automation procedures identified 32 “false negative” patients who met the inclusion criteria described in the EBP project but were not selected during the manual data collection. Automating data collection for certain data elements, such as oxygen saturation, proved challenging because of workflow and practice variations and the reliance on disparate sources for data abstraction. Automation also revealed instances of human error including computational and transcription errors as well as incomplete selection of eligible patients. Conclusion: Automated data collection for analysis of nursing-specific phenomenon is potentially superior to manual data collection methods. Creation of automated reports and analysis may require initial up-front investment with collaboration between clinicians, researchers and information technology specialists who can manage the ambiguities and challenges of research and quality assurance work in healthcare.Citation: Byrne MD, Jordan TR, Welle T. Résumé :
<em>The term &quot;internet of things&quot; (IoT) describes a network of interconnected hardware, software, and services that enable users to control hardware and software remotely from a computer, smartphone, or other internet-connected device. It also describes the use of code and algorithm frameworks to control hardware and software for use in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. If we want to create complicated systems utilising Python algorithms, we can manage our equipment, materials, and products remotely using mobile apps or online interfaces by connecting them to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. That provides a very brief definition of the Internet of Things. Beyond the &quot;smart home,&quot; where it is largely used to control lighting and other home appliances, the Internet of Things (IoT) has a wide range of uses. It can also be used as a network security system or a factory system, for example, to operate completely automatic industrial machines, unlock or lock the main building door, or control network and telephone connections. However, with the aid of Internet of Things technologies, more may be achieved. Large structures like industries and government buildings often have a tonne of lighting fixtures. Some employees don&#39;t turn them off before leaving the office. The study&#39;s suggested energy-saving tactic is to have the security guard control the building&#39;s lighting using the Blynk app on a smart smartphone. Switches placed around the building and the Blynk app may both be used to control the lights depending on the wiring configuration. This paper presents a fundamental smart home prototype or a low-cost, straightforward approach to regulating loads over a Wi-Fi network.</em>

The home automation system is indeed a system that offers a mobile application to monitor it through the smartphone or tablet. It can control home appliances like light, fans, air conditions, and smart security locks, etc. Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is used for remote control of things. The smart home is essentially how it looks: automating with such an easy touch of a button or a voice command the ability to manage things across the home. Several operations were both simple and extremely low-cost, such as setting up a light to turn on and off at the time of your moment. Others need much more money and resources, including advanced spy cameras. Some people thought that technology is taking a really huge part of our lives. It does! we&rsquo;re living in a modern generation where smart and intelligent systems are necessary to be there wherever we are to make our lives easier and much better, for example, we can do many things faster, better, and more accurate.

Résumé :
Summary Objectives: Evidence-based clinical scores are used frequently in clinical practice, but data collection and data entry can be time consuming and hinder their use. We investigated the programmability of 168 common clinical calculators for automation within electronic health records. Methods: We manually reviewed and categorized variables from 168 clinical calculators as being extractable from structured data, unstructured data, or both. Advanced data retrieval methods from unstructured data sources were tabulated for diagnoses, non-laboratory test results, clinical history, and examination findings. Results: We identified 534 unique variables, of which 203/534 (37.8%) were extractable from structured data and 269/534 (50.4.7%) were potentially extractable using advanced techniques. Nearly half (265/534, 49.6%) of all variables were not retrievable. Only 26/168 (15.5%) of scores were completely programmable using only structured data and 43/168 (25.6%) could potentially be programmable using widely available advanced information retrieval techniques. Scores relying on clinical examination findings or clinical judgments were most often not completely programmable. Conclusion: Complete automation is not possible for most clinical scores because of the high prevalence of clinical examination findings or clinical judgments – partial automation is the most that can be achieved. The effect of fully or partially automated score calculation on clinical efficiency and clinical guideline adherence requires further study. Citation: Aakre C, Dziadzko M, Keegan MT, Herasevich V. Résumé :
WeChat mini-apps are &amp;ldquo;sub-applications&amp;rdquo; built within the WeChat platform. Unlike full-function native applications, they are streamlined, &amp;ldquo;light&amp;rdquo; versions of the apps, and enable users to open and use them inside WeChat without downloading and installation. Since being introduced by WeChat in 2017, 4.3 million WeChat mini-programs have been developed, and they attract around 410 million daily active users Up to 2021. However, motivated by financial gains, many malicious mini-app developers use some intended description and icon to mislead users to click and open their mini-apps. These mini-apps are full of annoying advertisements and collect users&amp;rsquo; privacy information stealthily, which can expose users to privacy risks and financial losses.&#x0D; &#x0D; Although security personnel of WeChat has enforced various countermeasures to prevent malicious phishing mini-apps sneaking into WeChat, rampant malicious leading mini-apps still have been observed recently. In this paper, we present MiniWarner, a novel approach that leverages Natural Language Processing and a number of reverse engineering techniques to detect whether a mini-app is malicious and phishing when users open it. MiniWarner will only ask users whether to continue to open the malicious phishing mini-app, thus it can protect users against the intended misleading by attackers, and still preserve the original user experience. Besides, this approach is implemented as an Xposed module, making it practical to be quickly deployed on a large number of user devices. Our paper will introduce how we developed MiniWarner and the measurement results of MiniWarner in detail.

Résumé :
The integration of mobile devices into adolescents’ daily lives is significant, making it imperative to prioritize their safety and security. With the imminent arrival of fast internet (6G), offering increased bandwidth and reduced latency compared to its predecessor (5G), real-time streaming of high-quality video and audio to mobile devices will become feasible. To effectively leverage the fast internet, accurately classifying Mobile Applications (M-APPs) is crucial to shield adolescents from inappropriate content, including violent videos, pornography, hate speech, and cyberbullying. This work introduces an innovative approach utilizing Deep Learning techniques, specifically Attentional Convolutional Neural Networks (A-CNNs), for classifying M-APPs. The goal is to secure adolescent mobile usage by predicting the potential negative impact of M-APPs on adolescents. The proposed methodology employs multiple Machine and Deep Learning (M/DL) models, but A-CNNs based on Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers embeddings outperformed other models, achieving an average accuracy of 88.74% and improving the recall from 99.33% to 99.65%.

Résumé :
We have had significant success in building cyclodextrin mediated sensors. We initially started with a gold surface, being able to detect analyte up to three times post modification [1]. Afterwards, we improved the stability and reusability by moving to a phenyl-modified carbon electrode via diazonium salt chemistry [2]. With his new surface, we were able to detect cortisol up to 10 different times with high accuracy, repeatability, and sensitivity in buffer, urine, and artificial saliva. We were limited by manually manipulating the electrode; therefore, we were not able to test the electrode for greater than 10 measurements. Within this poster, we intend to present our ideas and progress towards developing an automated detection system that can be preprogrammed to clean, reset, and test the cyclodextrin-mediated surface with target analytes. Further, we will share our various target analytes and our strategy to expand our sensor surface to include multiple cyclodextrin derivatives. Résumé :
This article examines the impact of automation on jobs. Since the end of the Great Recession in June 2009, the GDP of the United States has grown 75% as fast as its average between 1948 and 2007. Ordinarily, such growth would spur companies to hire more workers. However, the fact is that overall unemployment has hovered above 9% for most of the past three years and remains stubbornly high. The percentage of working adults is at its lowest level since 1983, when women were still entering the workforce. Instead of hiring workers, companies are now investing in equipment and technology, which rebounded quickly after the recession. Some economists contend that advanced information and communications technology is transforming the economy by capturing jobs that only humans could have done before. They even consider digital technology when looking at the potential causes of unemployment. They also believe this is a sign of deeper structural changes in the economy.

Résumé :
Smartphone applications or apps are increasingly being produced to help with protection against the risk of domestic violence. There is a need to formally evaluate their features. Objective: This study systematically reviewed app-based interventions for domestic violence prevention, which will be helpful for app developers. Methods: We overviewed all apps concerning domestic violence awareness and prevention without language restrictions, collating information about features and limitations. We conducted searches in Google, the Google Play Store, and the App Store (iOS) covering a 10-year time period (2012–2022). We collected data related to the apps from the developers’ descriptions, peer reviewed research articles, critical reviews in blogs, news articles, and other online sources. Results: The search identified 621 potentially relevant apps of which 136 were selected for review. There were five app categories: emergency assistance (n = 61, 44.9%), avoidance (n = 29, 21.3%), informative (n = 29, 21.3%), legal information (n = 10, 7.4%), and self-assessment (n = 7, 5.1%). Over half the apps (n = 97, 71%) were released in 2020–22. Around a half were from north-east America (n = 63, 46.3%). Where emergency alerts existed, they required triggering by the potential victim. There was no automation. Content analysis showed 20 apps with unique features, including geo-fences, accelerometer-based alert, shake-based alert, functionality under low resources, alert auto-cancellation, anonymous communication, and data encryption. None of the apps deployed artificial intelligence to assist the potential victims. Conclusions: Apps currently have many limitations. Future apps should focus on automation, making better use of artificial intelligence deploying multimedia (voice, video, image capture, text and sentiment analysis), speech recognition, and pitch detection to aid in live analysis of the situation and for accurately generating emergency alerts.

Résumé :
This article discusses developments in flexible automation in the automobile industry. As industry demands growing emphasis on agility, the need for systems with flexibility at scales is becoming critical. Flexible automation is an operational response to this need. Traditional automation systems were extremely limited in scope. Each would do a single task very well over and over again but had little or no ability to adapt to any other task. Although developments in hardware have made automation more flexible, software tends to be the more critical aspect of the system. Much of the flexibility of today’s system comes from the reprogrammability of devices such as tools and material-handling equipment. The area in which flexible automation is most pervasive is the automotive industry. This industry not only has a great need for automation systems but also has the budget to afford such expensive and elaborate systems.

Résumé :
One of the factors causing the bankruptcy of a company is bad credit. Therefore, prospective customers need to be selected so that bad credit cases can be minimized. This study aims to determine the classification of credit granting to prospective customers of company X in order to reduce the risk of bad credit. The method used is the binary logistic regression method and the Chi-Squared Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID) method. In this study, data used in November 2019 were 690 motorcycle credit data for company X in Gresik. The independent variables in this study are the factors that affect bad credit such as gender, marital status, education, employment, income, expenses, home ownership status and the dependent variable is credit status (bad and current). The analysis results show that the binary logistic regression has an accuracy value of 76.38% with an APER of 23.62%, while CHAID has an accuracy value of 93.19% with an APER of 6.81%. The accuracy value of the CHAID method is greater than the binary logistic regression method, while the APER value of the CHAID method is smaller than the binary logistic regression method. So it can be concluded that the CHAID method is better than the binary logistic regression method in classifying bad credit at company X. Résumé :
A statistical model of step-scanning of Bragg reflections on an X-ray diffractometer has been suggested [Dietrich (1976). J. Appl. Cryst. 9, 205–208]. A method and software for stability checking of X-ray automatic diffractometers at the user's laboratory have been developed on the basis of this model. The method is an extension of the technique proposed by Dietrich (1976) and reveals the operational instability of the instrument by processing the data of repeated measurements of a reflection intensity profile of a test crystal. The developed software package gives information about the error in initial positioning, the speed instability of the goniometer and the instability of the X-ray source and detector. The method was applied to a number of automatic four-circle X-ray CAD-4 (Enraf–Nonius, Holland) and Syntex (USA) diffractometers. The results obtained indicate that the method has high sensitivity and can be useful for practical crystallographers to reveal defects of their instruments.

Résumé :
Powder pattern indexing can still be a challenge, despite the great recent advances in theoretical approaches, computer speed and experimental devices. More plausible unit cells, belonging to different crystal systems, are frequently found by the indexing programs, and recognition of the correct one may not be trivial. The task is, however, of extreme importance: in case of failure a lot of effort and computing time may be wasted. The classical figures of merit for estimating the unit-cell reliability {i.e.M20[de Wolff (1968).J. Appl. Cryst.1, 108–113] andFN[Smith &amp; Snyder (1979).J. Appl. Cryst.12, 60–65]} sometimes fail. For this reason, a new figure of merit has been introduced inN-TREOR09, the updated version of the indexing packageN-TREOR[Altomare, Giacovazzo, Guagliardi, Moliterni, Rizzi &amp; Werner (2000).J. Appl. Cryst.33, 1180–1186], combining the information supplied byM20with additional parameters such as the number of unindexed lines, the degree of overlap in the pattern (the so-called number of statistically independent observations), the symmetry deriving from the automatic evaluation of the extinction group, and the agreement between the calculated and observed profiles. The use of the new parameters requires a dramatic modification of the procedures used worldwide: in the approach presented here, extinction symbol and unit-cell determination are simultaneously estimated.N-TREOR09benefits also from an improved indexing procedure in the triclinic system and has been integrated intoEXPO2009, the updated version ofEXPO2004[Altomare, Caliandro, Camalli, Cuocci, Giacovazzo, Moliterni &amp; Rizzi (2004).J. Appl. Cryst.37, 1025–1028]. The application of the new procedure to a large set of test structures is described.

Résumé :
The outbreak of the recent pandemic emerged as a challenge for healthcare systems, education, travel, and businesses to survive in traditional disposition. To mitigate its spread, digital technologies were exercised, and one of them was Digital Contact Tracing (DCT). DCT has been employed during outbreaks of epidemics like HIV/AIDS, SARS, Ebola, monkeypox, and COVID-19. However, many challenges, like security, data protection, and privacy also affected the smooth adoption of automatic DCT or apps. These challenges led to the failure of many DCT apps despite being the fastest method of contact tracing. The present study aims to analyze the exhaustive literature on DCT apps, that were exercised all around the globe during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. A comprehensive literature survey of relevant studies and a detailed analysis comparing thirty different DCT apps is presented. It has been found that only a few studies discussed various technologies, challenges, adoption rates, and future advancements in the realm. Incorporating knowledge from multiple sources, this study underlines the reasons for the adoption and rejection of DCT apps during the pandemic. To overcome these limitations, thoughtful applications of modern-age technologies are recommended. This work endeavors to suggest potential research avenues for developing next-generation DCT apps.

Résumé :
Can automation complement economic incentives? We explore this question by randomly encouraging households to activate a feature on their existing smart thermostat that automates responsiveness to time-of-use electricity pricing. The feature reduces air conditioning use during the highest-priced afternoon period, raising indoor temperatures above a household's preferred temperature, primarily for customers who are typically home during the day. Customers infrequently override the feature when they experience discomfort, suggesting that they are willing to trade off monetary savings for small increases in discomfort. Automation thus enables low-cost changes in household energy use, with potentially large electricity supply-cost reductions at scale. (JEL D12, D91, L94, L98, Q48)
