Résumé :
In our previous study, all Arthrinium isolates from Sargassum sp. showed high bioactivities, but studies on marine Arthrinium spp. are insufficient. In this study, a phylogenetic analysis of 28 Arthrinium isolates from seaweeds and egg masses of Arctoscopus japonicus was conducted using internal transcribed spacers, nuclear large subunit rDNA, β-tubulin, and translation elongation factor region sequences, and their bioactivities were investigated. They were analyzed as 15 species, and 11 of them were found to be new species. Most of the extracts exhibited radical-scavenging activity, and some

Résumé :
Fungi associated with leaves of Senna alata (L.) Roxb. (Cassia alata L.) and their pathogenic potentiality have been discussed. A total of 8 species of fungi belonging to 8 genera of Deuteromycetes were found to be associated with S. alata. The fungi were Acromoniella sp., Arthrinium saccharicola Stevenson, Aspergillus niger Van Tiegh, Cladosporium cladosporioides (Fresen.) de Vries, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Sacc., Curvularia lunata (Wakker) Boedijn, Nigrospora sphaerica (Sacc.) Mason, Pestalotiopsis guepinii (Desm.) Stay and unidentified Hyphomycetes, C. gloeosporioides and P. g

Résumé :
Coconut water is a widely consumed natural beverage, prized for its hydration and health benefits. However, recent clinical evidence highlights a rare but life-threatening risk associated with its improper storage. This review centres on a fatal case involving a 69-year-old man in Denmark who developed acute neurotoxic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, profuse sweating, and brain swelling after consuming coconut water left unrefrigerated for one month. Laboratory analysis confirmed contamination by the fungus Arthrinium saccharicola, which produces 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NPA), a mi

Résumé :
The whole genome and transcriptome analyses were performed for prediction of the ecological characteristics of Arthrinium and the genes involved in gentisyl alcohol biosynthesis. Whole genome sequences of A. koreanum KUC21332 and A. saccharicola KUC21221 were analyzed, and the genes involved in interspecies interaction, carbohydrate-active enzymes, and secondary metabolites were investigated. Three of the seven genes associated with interspecies interactions shared by four Arthrinium spp. were involved in pathogenesis. A. koreanum and A. saccharicola exhibit the enzyme profiles similar to thos

Résumé :
Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L. cv. Badila) is a chewing cane cultivar in southern China. Since the first case of poisoning caused by the consumption of moldy sugarcane was confirmed in northern China in 1972, cases have occurred almost every year. It has been confirmed that Arthrinium is the pathogen that primarily occurs during improper postharvest storage (Liu xingjie, 1984). In 2019, ten moldy sugarcane stems (cv. Badila) were collected from Tang County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, China. The sugarcane flesh turned dark and was grayish-white, red, or reddish-brown. Some of them smell
