Résumé :
Accurate human body profiles have many potential applications. Image-based human body profile estimation can be regarded as a fine-grained semantic segmentation problem, which is typically used to locate objects and boundaries in images. However, existing image segmentation methods, such as human parsing, require significant amounts of annotation and their datasets consider clothes as part of the human body profile. Therefore, the results they generate are not accurate when the human subject is dressed in loose-fitting clothing. In this paper, we created and labeled an under-the-clothes human

Background. Several researchers have argued that disturbances in embodiment play an important role in the development of psychological health problems among adolescents. The purpose of the present study was to use the 12-item Embodiment Scale (ES-12), with its three subscales Harmonious Body (HB), Disharmonious Body (DB), and Body for Others (BO), (1) to identify subgroups of adolescents with different profiles on the ES-12 scales, and (2) to see how these profiles are associated with patterns of psychological health problems. The presence of T-cell infiltrate, ragged-red fibers and rimmed vacuoles are some features linked to these pathological processes. AbstractConventional transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) coils are limited by the depth-focality tradeoff rule. To better utilize this depth-focality tradeoff rule, a new approach needs to be employed. In this study, a new multi-layer winding-tilted TMS coil design is proposed for human brain stimulation. It can deliver stimulation with better depth-focality characteristic than the double cone coils to deep brain regions. In our design, circular coils were accumulated along their central axis to improve the field decay rate as a function of the stimulation depth. We also tilted the winding

Résumé :
The goal of a QIBA Profile is to help achieve a useful level of performance for a given biomarker. The Claim (Section 2) describes the biomarker performance and is derived from the body of scientific literature meeting specific requirements, in particular test-retest studies. The Activities (Section 3) contribute to generating the biomarker. Requirements are placed on the Actors that participate in those activities as necessary to achieve the Claim. Assessment Procedures (Section 4) for evaluating specific requirements are defined as needed to ensure acceptable performance. Diffusion-Weighted

Résumé :
Similar to most metering technologies, ultrasonic meters are known to be affected by the buildup of material on the inside of the meter and surrounding pipe due to common pipe contaminants. The buildup affects the metering accuracy by reducing the flow area and causing an increase in the gas velocity through the meter, by changing the shape of the velocity profile through the creation of additional roughness elements on the pipe wall, and by altering the ability of the ultrasonic signal to transmit between the transducers. A need existed to investigate accuracy shifts resulting from the grime

Résumé :
The goal of the DCE-MRI quantification QIBA Profile version 2.0 is to provide an update from the Dynamic Contrast Enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) Quantification profile (version 1.0, dated July 1, 2012) in order to include the use of 3 Tesla (T) MRI and the use of parallel imaging with receiver coil arrays. While many pharmacokinetic models have been described, this QIBA Profile (DCE-MRI Quantification) specifically addresses the physiological parameter Ktrans derived from the Tofts or generalized kinetic model (GKM) (1), which is correlated with the vessel (surface/area product and permeability) and h

Parkinsonism is a major health problem. Distinguishing neurodegenerative causes of parkinsonism from non-degenerative movement disorders that can mimic Parkinson’s disease (PD) has important implications for prognosis and clinical management. The goal of this QIBA Profile is to optimize the performance of Iodine-123 (123I) ioflupane single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) for quantifying the concentration of regional cerebral dopamine transporters (DaT) in patients with movement disorders. Résumé :
This QIBA Profile documents specifications and requirements to provide comparability and consistency for quantitative FDG-PET across scanners in oncology. It can be applied to both clinical trial use as well as individual patient management. This document organizes acquisition, reconstruction and post-processing, analysis and interpretation as steps in a pipeline that transforms data to information to knowledge. The document, developed through the efforts of the QIBA FDG-PET Biomarker Committee, has shared content with the FDG-PET UPICT protocol, as well as additional material focused on the d

While the technology to manage corrosion is largely mature, just one high-profile corrosion incident, like that at Carlsbad, NM, rekindles the publics concern for safety, with far reaching effects possibly into Congress and the regulatory management. Such incidents also bring into question the viability of related integrity management tools and practices particularly those used to assess incident consequences and prioritize related maintenance. Reliably discriminating between leaks and ruptures thus is important but remains elusive for many applications. This project sought new understand

Pueraria mirifica airy shaw and suvatabandhu, know locally as Kwao Keur, is a plant in family Leguminosae. In this study, effects of P.mirifica on hepatic cytochrome P450 (CYP), serum lipid profile and subchronic toxicity were investigated in male Wistar rats. Rats were randomly divided into four treatment groups as following: normal diet-fed group; normal diet-fed supplemented with P.mirifica group; high cholesterol diet-fed group; high cholesterol diet-fed supplemented with P.mirifica group. Each group comprised 10 rats. P.mirifica was administered orally at a dosage of 100 mg/kg/day for 90

Résumé :
Chemical composition and biological role of the surface coat (SC) of the root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp. are described. SC proteins of M. incognita race 3 infective juveniles (J2) were characterized by electrophoresis and western blotting of extracts from radioiodine and biotin-labelled nematodes. J2 labelled with radioiodine and biotin released 125I and biotin-labelled molecules into water after 20 hours incubation, indicating that SC proteins may be loosely attached to the nematode. Antiserum to the principal protein reacted with the surface of live J2 and with surface proteins previou
