První kapitolu tvoří geografický nástin a především pak historická východiska regionu, druhá kapitola je obecnou, politickou a ekonomickou charakteristikou jednotlivých zemí. Poslední dvě kapitoly jsou věnovány Stabilizačnímu a asoiciačnímu procesu, vývoji vztahů mezi EU a zeměmi západního Balkánu a hodnocení účinnosti toho specifického procesu v subregionu Balkán.

This master thesis deals with the economic situation in Slovenia and Croatia. It focuses on a comprehensive comparison of both countries and does not leave out the historical assumptions. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and economic. At the outset it contains framework for the functioning of the former Yugoslavia and the so-called Yugoslav-type socialism. It also discusses the nature of the two countries in terms of geography and politics, including inclusion in the international legal system. The following chapters deal with the comparison of their own transition process and highlights the mistakes committed by the countries. Finally, the work also includes a comprehensive assessment of current economic situation in Slovenia and Croatia, addressing also symptomatic problems that plague both countries.

The Master's thesis "Investment and tax environment of selected former Yugoslavian countries" deals with current tax systems and investment environment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia. The first three chapters of the thesis are focused on the economic situation of selected countries, their business relations among themselves and the EU countries, foreign direct investment and rating. The fourth key chapter starts with the tax theory and fiscal harmonization within the European Union in order to give detailed analysis of tax systems with emphasis on current development. In conclusion is elaborated the comparison of selected tax systems.

Katedra mezinárodního práva Datum uzavření rukopisu: 21. ledna 2015 Summary of the Thesis: The introductory historical overview (chapter two) gives an insight into the merits of the military conflict in the former Yugoslavia and lists the most fundamental causes behind this scandalous period of modern European history. Next, in chapter three, the thesis focuses on the impacts of this ongoing war on the international communities and their reactions, as well as on the particular measures taken by the United Nations, the universal platform established for these purposes. The most significant of these measures is undoubtedly the establishing of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), which prosecutes crimes against humanity, genocide, grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and violations of the laws or customs of war. The thesis focuses on freely available digital libraries in the field of science, research and education in the countries of former Yugoslavia. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part introduces the basic terminology and the issue of freely available digital libraries. The main part of the thesis is based on the findings of freely available digital libraries in the countries of former Yugoslavia. Their structured overview is an annex to this thesis and a commentary on them is given in the practical part. The core of the thesis constitutes the results of analyzes of three digital libraries from the selected region. It aims to analyse, describe,compare and assess selected systems. The practical part presents the descriptions and analysys of the selected systems. Next chapter includes the comparison of their qualitative and quantitative parameters. The conclusion of the work brings final assessment of the knowledge.

This work is dedicated to the imagination of migrant communities from former Yugoslavia contextualized in their relation to the history, space and culture. The empirical basis of this work is grounded in the contemporary history of the migration vagues from former Yugoslavia. The first part of the work deals with the methodology and theory relevant for the following case studies that form the second part of this work. Its third part consists in history of the three migration vagues - political, economical and refugee migration. The sources of this work are heterogeneous and they are partly issued from the narration of the informants during several in-depth interviews and participant observation. The backbone of this work consist in the case studies focusing on the historical memory, lived space and popular culture of the migrant communitites from the former Yugoslaviain France, Austria and other European countries.

The thesis is concentrated on a research based on turbofolk music in diaspora from the former Yugoslav countries. When speaking about turbofolk, the term can be explained as a type of popular music combined with folk elements. It originates in the former Yugoslav countries, but similar pop-folk genres can be found in other European and non- European countries as well. People with immigration background living in diaspora can possess different types of relations towards this type of music than their counterparts in the ex-Yugoslav countries. Especially, certain common tendencies can be observed among the diaspora youth cosuming turbofolk. This work will primarily give answers to the basic questions including attitudes towards turbofolk in the ex-Yugoslav diaspora. It will describe turbofolk scene in the diaspora and show its extensiveness. In particular it will be focused on the Austrian case (concerning practising turbofolk etc.). An Abstract The text focuses on the aim of the state politics to gain the position of the first global hegemony after the end of the Cold War. It observes, with the regard to the wide-ranging influence of the USA at that time, and to the important American visions about its character, especially their particular decisions. It tries to describe the way, which the other influential participants of the global politics, the states as well as those of other kind, used to express their reactions to this activity, and their relation to the USA, the strongest contender in the effort to acquire the first global hegemony. The power contest is here mainly introduced by the insight into the course of the conflicts, which they, after the end of the Cold War, faced and influenced. The text concentrates on those political and security challenges with, apart from the policies of the USA, the strong presence of the intervention of the international organizations, above all the UN, the NATO and the EU, or of the occassionally created alliances. The prospects of hegemonial possibilities is presented in the conclusion.

The thesis deals with the comparison of interpreting at international criminal tribunals in the past and present. This is a comparison outlined by the Nuremberg Trials and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. First, the case study focuses on the characteristics of conference interpreting in the Nuremberg trials, followed by the characteristics of interpreting in the case of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. The thesis provides a historical overview, characteristics of interpreting, defines the role and position of an interpreter in the past and now and focuses on possible changes in interpreting supported by the development of the society. Not only the existing documents and published sources are used, but a questionnaire survey is conducted with professional interpreters, who worked at the tribunal in The Hague.

This diploma thesis deals with the depiction of the role of media and journalists in war conflicts. It analyses the way the film producers portray media and journalistic work, their characters and abilities. The analysis also looks for attributes of professional journalistic routine in the hostile environment of the war zones, how media and journalists communicate with each other, the way they interact with civilians, soldiers, how critical they are towards the official establishment line of their editors or governments. The method used for analysing the feature and documentary films was the qualitative content analysis. After seeing the films several times, eleven categories that represented best the groups of similarities concerning media and journalists were defined throughout the analysed films. After that, charts were created where brief descriptions of categories and data were lined up and then compared. The next part of the analysis inspects these data even deeper. The result shows how the film makers depict journalistic routines and which stereotypes they use. We also learn whether the picture of the journalists differs according to each of the conflicts when we know that there were utterly different motivations behind them.

The master's thesis represents an analysis of the sources of law, case law and literature concerning the doctrine of command responsibility. Analysis itself is preceded by the description of historical development of command responsibility. Aim of the analysis is to identify requirements of command responsibility set out by the ad hoc tribunals and requirements of command responsibility according to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, to compare those requirements and to find out most significant differences between the two approaches. Analysis provides that according to the Rome Statute there are two more requirements than according to the ad hoc tribunals' case law. Firstly there is the requirement of causal relationship and secondly there are two categories of superiors introduced - the military or military-like commanders and other superiors. Newly, there are slightly stricter requirements of responsibility for the former category than for the latter. Benefits of this thesis include the identification of requirements of command responsibility in Czech language.

Legacy of ICTY and its Impact on Statute and Case Law of ICC Establishing of International Criminal Court is a significant moment in evolution of international criminal law. It is the first permanent institution of international justice with personal jurisdiction and it was founded for one purpose only - to finally end the era of impunity for war criminals all over the world. But ICC didn't appear from nowhere. There was a long road towards its establishment and who knows if it would ever happen without influence of so called ad hoc tribunals, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. It is a sad truth that international criminal law made its biggest evolution as a reflection of the world's most horrible conflicts. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze a legacy of one of these tribunals, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and to explore its influence not only on the Statute of International Criminal Court, but also on its case law. International Criminal Court is not operating for long, but we can still notice many references on ICTY case law in its judgments.
