Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) farmers from diverse geographical areas in northern Cameroon selected breeding lines from on-station trials for their own fields and explained their reasons (criteria) for making the selections. The average selection intensity employed by farmers varied from 6 to 17% and was similar to that employed by plant breeders. Their selection criteria fell into three broad categories relating to yield, preference and quality, and labour, which were very consistent over years, locations and gender. The complexity of a construction project renders the implementation of a systematic approach in selecting contractors to be of vital importance, especially for the public construction projects. Nevertheless, public construction projects in Malaysia often suffer from delay, over budget and low-quality issues. These are very much affected by the contractors who tend to manipulate the tender price with the sole intention of getting the contract, thus led to many issues throughout the projects delivery. Hence, this paper is aimed to investigate a list of contractor selection criteria for public co

The main part of the procedure is a two-step model in which Hurwicz's rule and VIKOR-S method are employed to gain the selection of alternatives. We aim to determine from choices the criteria individuals use when they select objects from among a set of candidates. In order to do so we employ a mixture IRT (item-response theory) model that capitalizes on the insights that objects are chosen more often the better they meet the choice criteria and that the use of different criteria is reflected in inter-individual selection

Résumé :
Adaptation strategies are highly desirable documents based on more frequently occurring hydrological extremes. These strategic documents are prepared at different levels, the state level on one side and the regional or city level on the other side. The complex approach that was chosen for the Pardubice and Pilsen regions was also applied to the territory of the Dyje basin. Specifically, a multi-criteria analysis was used as a means of selecting priority model areas. Based on the analyses developed from the available geospatial landscape data, an evaluation scheme was created, divided into thre

Résumé :
The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is an established thermodynamic process that converts waste heat to electric energy. Due to the wide range of organic working fluids available the fluid selection adds an additional degree of freedom to the early design phase of an ORC process. Despite thermodynamic aspects such as the temperature level of the heat source, other technical, economic and safety aspects have to be considered. For the fluid selection process in this paper, 22 criteria were identified in six main categories while distinguishing between elimination and tolerance criteria. For an ORC d
