Résumé :
Purpose: To examine the factorial structure of the Coping Strategy Questionnaire-24 (CSQ-24) in a sample of Canadians with chronic musculoskeletal pain.Method: The sample included 171 workers’ compensation clients (50.9% men) recruited from outpatient rehabilitation facilities in Canada. Mean age of participants was 42.45 years (SD = 9.87). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to evaluate the factorial validity of the CSQ-24.Results: CFA indicated that the respecified 4-factor model comprising 20-specific coping items provided the best fit between the model and data, with χ2/df = 2.009, CFI = 0.916, RMSEA = .077. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the 4 factors ranged from .80 to .86. The CSQ-24 correlated moderately in the predicted directions with pain intensity, activity interference, and depression, supporting its construct validity. Conclusion: The CSQ-24 was found to measure the 4 coping strategy factors reported by Harland and Georgieff (2003). It demonstrated good internal consistency reliability and construct validity and can be used as a brief coping measure for chronic pain clients in clinical rehabilitation settings.Chung-Yi Chiu, PhD, CRC, is an assistant professor, Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Résumé :
The purpose of the research is to establish the humidity regime of sod-podzolic soil when growing perennial grasses. Experiments were conducted at the experimental site in 2012-2014. When conducting scientific research on the water regime of sod-podzolic soils for irrigation of perennial grasses, the method developed at the department of land reclamation and recultivation of the Russian state agrarian University-Moscow state agricultural Academy named after C.A. Timiryazev was used. Studies were conducted on experimental plots and in lysimeters. Experimental data obtained on plots are presented. Based on the results of research, using the formula of V.V. Shabanov,a graph of the relationship between the relative yield (Yi /Ymax) of perennial grasses and the relative humidity of sod-podzolic soil (in a layer of 50 cm) during sprinkling was constructed. In the formula of V.V. Shabanov for the conditions under consideration, the value of the coefficient Yi was obtained equal to 4.263. It was found that the humidity of the sod-podzolic soil of watershed territories. must be maintained in the optimal range taking into account the requirements of plants during the entire vegetation period. The best range of humidity of sod-podzolic soil of watershed territories according to scientific research data is for perennial grasses (0.61-0.78) PV. The correlation coefficient of this relationship is 0.96 ± 0.089 which indicates a close relationship between the considered features. At optimal humidity of sod-podzolic soils (0.61-0.78) of PV and a groundwater depth of 1.60 m or deeper (the territory of watersheds) there is a leaching regime.

Résumé :
This paper mainly analyzes the feasibility of laparoscopic local gastrectomy for the treatment of benign gastric tumors, evaluating its curative effect, and the use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) such as Hedyotis diffusa, Radix Pseudostellariae, yi, Pinellia ternata, Ophiopogon japonicus, wood fragrance, Perilla, Scutellaria baicalensis, Yuzhu, hawthorn, Artemisia annua, chicken yellow film, nail, and turtle, and clinical symptoms of statistical analysis of data mining. A total of 86 patients with gastric benign tumor were selected as the research object and were divided into observation group and control group with 43 cases in each by the random number table method. The control group received radical gastrectomy for benign tumor under laparoscopy, while the observation group received local gastrectomy under laparoscopy. Perioperative indexes such as operative time, intraoperative blood loss, and length of hospital stay were recorded in the two groups. Serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the incidence of complications was compared. Based on the clinical analysis of the drug used, the results of association significance were selected, and the top ten results were selected in order of confidence and grouped according to clinical symptoms, respectively, as follows: (1) abdominal distension: Hedyotis diffusa, Radix Pseudostellariae, Poria cocos, Huckleberry, and Coix seed; (2) dry mouth: Poria cocos, Radix Radix Pseudostellariae, Coix seed, Pinellia tuber, and Radix Ophiopogonis. The results showed that the minimum operation time in the observation group was 159.7 ± 13.07 min and the maximum was 172.57 ± 2.47 min, which was lower than that in the control group (the minimum was 172.46 ± 12.45 min and the maximum was 186.49 ± 24.32 min). The length of hospital stay (6.51 ± 1.29 days) was lower than that in the control group (7.56 ± 1.42 days) (P < 0.05). The CEA and CRP levels decreased significantly in both groups after treatment ( P < 0.05 ). However, the observation group’s CEA was (4.21 ± 1.05) mg/L and CRP was (8.46 ± 1.25) μg/L. In the control group, CEA was (4.18 ± 1.02) mg/L and CRP was (8.39 ± 1.24) μg/L. There were no significant differences ( P < 0.05 ). The incidence of complications in the observed group was 4.7% lower than 7.0% in the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Therefore, laparoscopic local gastric resection for benign gastric tumors can effectively reduce the incidence of CEA and CRP level and complications and improve the perioperative indicators, which is worth popularizing in clinical practice.

The morpho-syntactic and socio-pragmatic analysis of proverbs use on radio and T.V.: “Traditional priests of doom, if you wish for the destruction of a town, …” Agyekum (2000) and Wiafe-Akenten (2015) have observed an extensive use of proverbs in the media since the establishment of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in 1954. This paper therefore examines how these proverbs are used in radio and television programmes, especially in the Morning Shows and News broadcast in Akan. These programmes are socio-political, in which some of the issues discussed are very sensitive, delicate and inflammatory. The paper focuses on investigating how participants of these programmes employ proverbs in handling such difficult issues in their interactions, especially within this highly formal setting. Data for this study was sourced from Peace F.M., Adom F.M, GTV, UTV, (all in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana) Kessben F.M. (in the Ashanti Region of Ghana) and Ɔboɔba F.M. (in the Eastern Region of Ghana). Recordings of 6:00a.m, 12 noon and 6:00p.m. News from the radio stations and Television stations, and those of the Morning Shows from 6am-10am constituted the data for the study. Also, follow-up interviews were conducted after the recordings were transcribed for further analysis. The text and their context were discussed using Fairclough’s (1995 and 2012) and Fairclough & Wodak’s (1997) approach to Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The study specifically looked at the structural and lexical content of the proverbs, the motivation behind choice of certain proverbs and socio-pragmatic functions of the selected proverbs. Findings from the study showed that, some presenters and hosts of the programmes utilized proverbs as facesaving, mitigating and softening strategies. It was also concluded that majority of the politicians also employed the proverbs as indirectional strategies, escape routes, and evasive tools. They either removed or added their own words to strategically manipulate the proverbs to carry out and/or suit their intended message.

Résumé :
Abstract Background: The carcinoembryonic antigen-related adhesion molecules (CEACAM), containing seven members, are involved in many biological processes including cell adhesion, proliferation, differentiation, and tumor suppression. Some variants of CEACAMs such as CEACAM5 and CEACAM6 have long been recognized to be overexpressed in many cancers and highly associated with cancer development. Immunotherapies targeting CEACAM have achieved some clinical benefit, e.g. Tusamitamab Ravtansine (anti-CEACAM5 ADC), that has shown decent disease control in NSCLC. Recently, with the success of CAR-T and T cell engager (TCE) therapies against blood cancers, TCEs against solid tumors have also been developed. For instance, Cibisatamab, targeting CEACAM5 and CD3, is currently under clinical investigation in CRC patients. Here, we report the discovery of a bispecific antibody (biAb) anti-CEACAM5/6 x CD3 that mediates direct T cell killing against CEACAM5- and/or CEACAM6-expressing cancer cells. Methods: Anti-CEACAM5/6 x CD3 TCE consists of two CEACAM5/6 binding Fabs for the preferential recognition of CEACAM5/6-high-expressing cancer cells, and one CD3 binding domain that permits CEACAM5/6-mediated CD3 crosslinking and T cell activation. To reduce off-target T cell stimulation there is no CH2 in this format to eliminate Fc receptor binding, while an anti-HSA VHH was included into this construct for half-life extension. Binding affinity and specificity were studied by flow cytometry, IHC and on the Retrogenix Cell Microarray Technology platform, a human membrane/secreted protein binding array. The immunomodulatory functions were evaluated using luciferase reporter cell assays, cell killing assays in vitro and via PBMC-based Hu-NSG mouse models in vivo. Results: Our CEACAM5/6 binding antibody only interacted with CEACAM5 and CEACAM6 on the Retrogenix Cell Microarray against over 5,500 proteins. Importantly, it showed a similar sensitivity to recognize CRC tumor tissues in an IHC array as the benchmark (BMK), but significantly better selectivity at recognition of tumor tissues vs. normal tissues. Next, in vitro testing illustrated CEACAM5/6-mediated T cell activation by the TCE, and such stimulation also correlated with the binding affinity of the anti-CD3 domain. The lead candidate with the optimized CD3 binding affinity, showed better anti-tumor efficacy than the BMK in mice. Furthermore, this molecule displayed a typical PK as a conventional antibody with a mean T1/2 of around 115hrs. Finally, we show high tolerance in NHP of which no obvious signs of toxicity were observed at 2.5 mg/kg. Conclusion: In summary, a bispecific TCE with high selectivity to CEACAM5/6 overexpressing cancer cells was engineered. It displays potent anti-tumor efficacy, and support from target selectivity testing shows promising safety traits. Résumé :
BackgroundMigraine is a chronic neurological disease causing significant socioeconomic burden and impaired quality of life. Chinese medicine is commonly used for migraine in China. Clinical trials have generated evidence of the effectiveness of Chinese medicine therapies for migraine. However, little is known about how to use these therapies to treat migraine in real-world clinical settings.MethodsIn this retrospective study, we analyzed data from the electronic medical records (EMRs) of 2,023 migraine patients who attended the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (GPHCM) between July 2018 and July 2020.ResultsMore than three-quarters (77.21%) of the patients were female. Most (78.20%) of the patients were aged between 18 and 50 years, 18.49% were aged above 50 years, and the remaining 3.31% were under 18 years. Sleep disorders were the most documented comorbidity occurring in 27.29% of patients, and more common in females (29.77%) than male (18.87%). Fatigue was the most frequently reported trigger of migraine attacks among all patients (9.39%), while menstruation was the most common trigger for female patients (10.24%). Less than a quarter of patients (21.01%) reported a history of taking analgesic medication for their migraine. The median treatment duration reported by the patients was 10 days. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) was the predominant treatment for migraine at the hospital (88.48%), while pharmacotherapies were prescribed to 28.97% of the patients. CHM was prescribed more often as a sole treatment (53.58% of patients) than combined with pharmacotherapies (27.39% of patients). Among patients who reported improvements after taking CHM, the most frequently used herbs were fu ling and chuan xiong, the most frequent patented CHM product was tong tian oral solution, and the main herbal formulae were chuan xiong cha tiao san and yi qi cong ming tang.ConclusionCHM formulae, such as chuan xiong cha tiao san and yi qi cong ming tang, patented CHM product tong tian oral solution, and some herbs are potentially effective treatments for migraine. As such, CHM can be used as an alternative to conventional pharmacotherapies for migraine and is worth further evaluation in randomized controlled trials.

Résumé :
AbstractThe local-styled tombs of the Warring-States Period to the Western Han Dynasty recovered at Kele Site in Hezhang County, Guizhou Province had rich cultural connotations and distinct features, the “head encasing” burial custom of which was especially unique. These tombs showed sharp differences to the Han-styled tombs in the same cemetery and other regional cultural remains in peripheral areas and represented a new archaeological culture in the Xinan Yi (Southwest Barbarians) Region of the Warring-States to the Qin-Han Periods, which could be named as “Kele Culture”. The putting forward of the concept of “Kele Culture” and the research on it had great academic significance; they will positively influence the archaeological researches on the Xinan Yi Region of the Warring-States to the Qin-Han Periods and lay firm foundation for the in-depth archaeological exploration of Yelang Culture.

Résumé :
AbstractIn July through September 2012, the tomb of Mme Yi, the De Consort of the Later Tang Dynasty was excavated. It was a brick multi-chamber tomb consisting of the passage, the entrance, the corridor, the main chamber and the side chambers, the full length of which was 24.1m. 208 pieces (sets) of grave goods were unearthed from this tomb, including porcelains, silver and bronze wares, iron objects, bone implements, lacquer wares, architectural parts and the epitaph. This tomb show more styles of the Han Culture, which was special among the tombs of the Liao Dynasty of the same time. The content of the epitaph made up the insufficient records of the historical textual materials and provided important materials for the researches on the relationship between the Khitan and the Later Tang and Later Jin Dynasties in the Five-Dynasties Period.
