This thesis proposes a methodology for factory layout synthesis that combines the symbolic and numerical approaches. The layout model is represented as a loosely packed arrangement of rectangles with sides parallel to two orthogonal directions. Solutions must satisfy a set of qualitative and quantitative constraints and must optimize material handling costs. Qualitative constraints are specified using a rule based approach. Quantitative constraints and material handling costs are incorporated into a numerical, non linear-optimization problem. Optimal solutions are generated by inserting one device at the time in all admissible locations on the floorplan. The resulting partial layouts are optimized with respect to material handling costs. Then, the best partial solution obtained so far is the starting point for the next object insertion. The process stops when all devices have been placed. To illustrate the methodology, three case studies are presented.

The objective of this thesis was to assess the market opportunities for two novel Carnot battery system solutions, one supplying power and low temperature heat as well as a system supplying medium temperature heat exclusively. To fulfill the objective, a methodology was developed and implemented to investigate the market potential, further two techno-economic models were developed and utilized to investigate the performance of such Carnot battery solutions. Based on the market review four industrial sectors were identified as most interesting and the geographical scope was confined to Europe. Further, case studies were developed to mimic two different sizes of manufacturing plants, a small and large, for the identified sectors. The cases were then implemented to the techno-economic analysis to compare the performance of a new Carnot battery system against the conventional energy solutions. The identified market offers a vast opportunity for incorporating Carnot battery solutions to meet the industrial sectors requirements, both from a technical and market size perspective. The market review combined with the techno-economic analysis indicates that the heat market is interesting as long as fuel, power grid costs and industrial operations are at the ideal level. For the Carnot battery system supplying both power and heat, it was found that yearly cost savings in the range of 10-15 % could be achieved for the identified market. The added value of incorporating heat generation and surplus power from PV had a strong effect on the business case. Through sensitivity analysis it was approximated that locations in central/south Europe with global horizontal irradiance (GHI) above 1500 kWh/m2 would benefit from the solution. For the Carnot battery system supplying medium temperature heat it was found that solutions would struggle with feasibility for the given market conditions. Through sensitivity it was found that locations with GHI higher than 2100 kWh/m2 would benefit from the solution. For both models it was found that the hybrid solution, Carnot battery combined with on-site PV, yields the most feasible solution for the end user, compared to charging the Carnot storage system from the power grid. Both models were sensitives to changes in energy cost for operating the old conventional system as well as operations times of the industries. The availability of space is a major constraint to implement Carnot battery solutions, as both the Carnot battery as well as PV plant require substantial space. It was found through literature and interviews that industries with close proximity to end customer and which faces pressure to decarbonize, may be most interesting to target, as for e.g. the Food and beverage sector.
Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka marknadspotentialen för två stycken Carnot batterisystem, ett system som generar både el och låg tempererad värme och ett som endast generar medel tempererad värme. För att uppnå målet så utvecklades och implementerades en metod för att undersöka marknadspotentialen, vidare så utvecklades och användes två tekno-ekonomiska modeller för att undersöka prestandan för de två Carnot lösningarna. Baserat på marknadsundersökningen så identifierades fyra industriella sektorer som mest intressanta och baserat på dem begränsades omfattningen av studien till Europa. Från marknadsgenomsökningen och de identifierade industriella sektorerna skapades två olika profiler för att representera en liten och stor industri för de identifierade sektorerna. Profilerna användes som utgångspunkt för den tekno-ekonomiska analysen för att jämföra prestandan hos ett nytt Carnot batterisystem mot konventionella energilösningar. Den identifierade marknaden erbjuder en stor möjlighet för att integrera Carnot batterilösningar för att möta industrisektorns krav, både ur ett tekniskt perspektiv och med tanke på marknadensstorleken. Marknadsundersökningen kombinerat med tekno-ekonomiskanalysen indikerar att värmemarknaden för industrier är intressant så länge bränsle- och elkostnader samt drifttiden är i rättnivå. Resultat från analysen tyder på att Carnot batterilösningar, som generar både el och värme, kan skapa energikostnadsbesparingar runt 10–15 % för den identifierade marknaden. Värdet av att addera kassaflöden från överskotts el från solcellerna samt värmegenerering har en stark påverkan på resultaten. Från en känslighetsanalys gick det att identifiera centrala/södra Europa som platser med tillräcklig solinstrålning (runt 1500 kWh/m2) för att dra nytta av ett Carnot batteri. För Carnot batterisystemet som endast producerar medel tempererad värme så skapas inga energikostandsbesparingar för slutanvändaren för den analyserade marknadsförutsättningarna. Genom en känslighetsanalys gick det att fastställa att hög solinstrålning krävs (över 2100 kWh/m2) för att slutanvändaren ska skapa några besparingar med systemet. För båda modellerna generade en hybridsystemlösning med både Carnot batteri samt lokal solcellsanläggning de bästa resultaten, jämfört med om systemet skulle laddas från elnätet. Båda modellerna är känsliga mot förändringar i energikostnader, värme eller el, för det konventionella systemet samt lägre drifttid. Vidare så är tillgänglig yta en annan restriktion som både kan hindra implementeringen av Carnot batteriet samt också solcellsanläggningen. Både litteraturstudien och de genomförda intervjuerna tyder på att industrier som har nära kontakt med slutkonsumenten och som har krav på att reducera sin miljöpåverkan, är en intressant användare av ett Carnot batterilösning, som exempelvis livsmedelsindustrin.

Fostering the nation‘s innovation is the key role of public research and development (R&D). However, executive staffs of public R&D organisations worldwide are continuously faced with the challenge of planning innovation orientation to attain their vision. There is a need for developing the innovation model in the context of public R&D. Furthermore, these challenges are exacerbated by continuous changes in citizens‘ social aspirations and industries‘ expectations in a turbulent economic climate of any developing economy. The main objective of this research is to provide a methodological framework which assists in structuring an innovation management model taking all dimensions of public R&D into account. To accomplish the main objective, the research involves the following theoretical and empirical studies: (a) using the Delphi method in refining influencing factors on innovation management in public R&D gathered from a literature review; (b) using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to propose a management model which hierarchically arranges the refined factors involving multiple dimensions of public R&D ; (c) applying the proposed innovation management model for devising an adapted orientation for future innovation in a case study; (d) providing an illustrative model for generic deploying the research findings to other socio-organisational contexts. As innovation development in R&D organisations is influenced by national contexts within which the R&D is operated; Delphi experts are selected from various national research centres of a particular county, i.e. Thailand. In addition, the AHP application is performed in a Thai case study for in-depth exploration of a particular phenomenon. The AHP findings assist in formulating a proper orientation for organisational innovation plans compared to methods used at present based on intuition. In addition, the hierarchy model and its factors could form a valuable resource for better planning a cohesive innovation orientation in the selected country. Moreover, the proposed methodological framework (involving a combined Delphi and AHP) is adaptable to users from other countries and contexts. It has the potential to assist in delivering effective innovation management their organisation.

The aim of this project was to investigate what information is critical to convey to nurses when performing digital triage. In addition, the project aimed to investigate how such information could be visualized. This was done through a combined user research and machine learning approach, which enabled for a more nuanced and thorough investigation compared to only making use of one of the two fields. There is sparse research investigating how digital triaging can be improved and made more efficient. Therefore, this study has contributed with new and relevant insights. Three machine learning algorithms were implemented to predict the right level of care for a patient. Out of these three, the random forest classifier proved to have the best performance with an accuracy of 69.46%, also having the shortest execution time. Evaluating the random forest classifier, the most important features were stated to be the duration and progress of the symptoms, allergies to medicine, chronic diseases and the patient's own estimation of his/her health. These factors could all be confirmed by the user research approach, indicating that the results from the approaches were aligned. The results from the user research approach also showed that the patients' own description of their symptoms was of great importance. These findings served as a basis for a number of visualization decisions, aiming to make the triage process as accurate and efficient as possible.

The central hypothesis supporting the present work is that the effectiveness of radiation therapy for cancer is often limited due to defects in key apoptosis regulators, such as Bcl-2 family members, that contribute to cancer ability to evade apoptosis. One way to bypass this resistance to radiotherapy is to target cell death pathways, aiming to sensitize tumours to radiation and enhance the therapeutic ratio in cancer. To test this central hypothesis, we took a dual approach: one targeted apoptosis and the other targeted autophagy.
First, we focused on the apoptotic signaling. The Bcl-2 family comprises antiapoptotic members, such as Bcl-2, Mcl-1, and Bcl-XL, and proapoptotic members, such as Bax, Bak, and Bid. The Bcl-2 family controls the integrity of the outer mitochondrial membrane and is critical in determining the susceptibility of cells to apoptosis induced by the intrinsic pathway. The balance between cell survival and cell death is modulated by the ratios and interactions of antiapoptotic and proapoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. Overexpression of Bcl-2 or Bcl-XL is observed in several cancers, including lung, colorectal, prostate, and breast cancers, and has been shown to confer resistance to various anticancer agents, including radiotherapy. In cancer cells, alterations in the amounts of these antiapoptotic Bcl-2 proteins promote cell survival, among others by contributing to their evasion from treatment-induced apoptosis. We made the observation that lung cancer cells have different radiosensitivity. On the basis of their relative response to radiotherapy, we stratified lung cancer cells into two groups (higher or lower sensitivity), and selected a representative cell line of each group for more in-depth study: A549 (resistant) and HCC2429 (sensitive). We found that the expression levels of Bcl-XL expression, which is antiapoptotic, was dramatically higher in A549, whereas almost not detected in HCC2429. We then hypothesized that AT-101, a pan-Bcl-2 inhibitor, had the potential to radiosensitize lung cancer by restoring radiation-induced apoptosis. When administered alone, AT-101 resulted in increased apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner in both groups, with enhanced activity in HCC2429 even at lower concentration. Furthermore, AT-101 promoted radiosensitivity of A549 and HCC2429 cells (p < 0.005). A549 cells required increased AT-101 dose to achieve the same level of cytotoxicity than HCC2429 cells. These investigations suggest that the Bcl-2 family members may serve as effective therapeutic targets in lung cancer. However, the potential of AT-101 as an agent that enhances the therapeutic ratio of radiotherapy varies depending on the lung cancer clone.
Next, we turned to a different approach, focusing on the inhibition of apoptosis instead of its promotion. This work hypothesis was based on previous observations looking at the role of radiation-induced apoptosis by knockdown of Bak and Bax. The radiosensitivity of breast and lung cancer in vitro was increased through autophagy, an alternate type of programmed cell death. Consistently, radiation-induced apoptosis accounts for a minor portion of cell death in irradiated solid tumors. The hypothesis of our work was that apoptosis inhibition would increase radiation-induced autophagy and tumor sensitivity to radiation. To block apoptosis, we used Z-VAD, a broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor, and examined its in vitro and in vivo effects on breast and lung cancer models. Z-VAD markedly radiosensitized breast and lung cancer cells in vitro, with a radiation dose enhancement ratio of 1.31 (P < 0.003). The enhanced tumor cytotoxicity was associated with induction of autophagy. In both breast and lung cancer mice xenograft models, the administration of Z-VAD concurrent with radiation produced a significant tumor growth delay compared with radiation alone and was well tolerated. Interestingly, Z-VAD also had a dramatic antiangiogenic effect when combined with radiation both in vitro and in vivo. Thus, Z-VAD represents an attractive anticancer therapeutic strategy. We further explored the potential of apoptosis inhibition as a way to sensitize cancer to radiation using a more selective chemical, M867, which is a reversible caspase-3 inhibitor. In an in vivo mouse hind limb lung cancer model, the administration of M867 with ionizing radiation was well tolerated, and produced a significant tumor growth delay compared with radiation alone. A dramatic decrease in tumor vasculature and tumor cell proliferation was observed with M867 despite the reduced levels of apoptosis. The radiosensitizing effect of M867 through the inhibition of caspases was validated using a caspase-3/-7 double-knockout (DKO) mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) cell model. Consistent with our previous results, autophagy contributed to the mechanism of increased cell death, following inhibition of apoptosis. Finally, we investigated the mechanism by which radiation triggers autophagy in caspase-3/7-deficient cells, and found the involvement of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. The ER activates a survival pathway, the unfolded protein response, which involves ER-localized transmembrane proteins such as protein kinase-like ER kinase (PERK), inositol-requiring enzyme-1, and activating transcription factor-6. In this study, we found that PERK is essential for radiation-induced autophagy and radiosensitivity in caspase-3/7 double-knockout cells. Irradiation of these cells increased expression of phosphorylated-eIF2a. Similar results were seen after administration of tunicamycin (TM), a well-known ER stress inducer. We found that the administration of TM with radiation in MCF-7 breast cancer cells, which are lacking functional caspase-3 and are relatively resistant to many anticancer agents, enhances radiation sensitivity. Our findings revealed ER stress as a novel potential mechanism of radiation-induced autophagy in caspase-3/7-deficient cells and as a potential strategy to maximize efficiency of radiation therapy in breast cancer. Our data suggested that caspase-3 has a critical role in modulating the PERK/eIF2a pathway after radiation.
Many cancers exhibit multiple deregulations in cell death pathways, allowing for the subsequent promotion of tumor cell survival, and contributing to a relatively low response rate to therapies based on the use of pro-apoptotic strategies. As we have showed, there is a potential for novel anticancer strategies to overcome resistant cancer cells with defective apoptosis machinery in order to improve overall therapeutic outcomes. Such novel approach is to drive cancer cells towards autophagy, as demonstrated by our experiments that studied the effect of radiation on the induction of autophagy in caspase-deficient models.

The method of converting the data of Geographic Information System into a three-dimensional model represented by X3D(Extensible 3D) was developed in this research. The 3D dynamic simulation is rendering by the time series information of Geographic Information System and the dynamic features of X3D. The developed 3D simulation model is embedded into the software environment of Geographic Information System ArcView. The user could use the interface of Geographic Information Systems to do the X3D simulation. The simulations of the effect of wave, current on the coastal evolution were done by the developed X3D GIS model respectively. And the combined simulation of the effect wave, current on the coastal evolution was also demonstrated in this research. The model of combining Geographic Information System, numerical computation and X3D simulation is developed to provide dynamic 3D simulation of the coastal evolution is this research.

A tunable electro-optical device (EO device) combined with liquid crystal (LC) layer and photodetector (PD) was fabricated in this study. The transmittance of input light was controlled by a dynamic scattering mode (DSM) of LC layer, and detected by a metal-semiconductor-metal photodetector (MSMPD) structure with Al ohmic contacts on Si substrate. The situation of light intensity modulation can be directly analyzed by comparing with dark-current and photo-current, both of them were created by excess carriers collected by biasing two metallic contacts of MSMPD under whether it was illuminated by light or not. The novel device has good performances of modulation in visible light region.

It usually be overlooked by it's artistic design and varied appearance.This research of creation attempts to use the characteristic of the square shape of traditional chinese characters and follow the basic principle of "uni-ting strokes" and "reducing strokes"to turn the modern popular language into a singal new chinese character. Making the Chinese characters to be separated then form a singal word with new meaning which connect with daily life with times to make up the underused situation of Chinese Characters so far .In addition to attract the public attention.The purpose of this research is to make the beauty of the Chinese characters combine with public and approval more cultural indentity.   This creation of research through literature discussion and case analysis produced the design of a set of integrated Chinese characters in graphic posters. There are 13 different topics of works. To solve the greenhouse effect and energy reduction, the energy saving and carbon reduction is the direction of development for all countries. According to the IEA annual report in the 2016, the carbon emission from transportation is 2nd place, or 29%, annual global. If we can change the carbon fuel to the green energy (like hydrogen fuel) for transportation in the future, we can low carbon emission and partly solve the energy crisis. At the same time, the greenhouse effect can be improved. This research finish a set of Hybrid Power Control System that the fuel cell is main power output lithium battery is complemented. This control system regards I2C as the structure to combine 3 Arduino UNO boards as mainly control component. It can provide two functions, one is low power load another is middle/high power load. If the power load output reaches under 8A condition, main power supply by the fuel cell and lithium battery is recharged at this stage. If the power load output reached around 8~45A condition, this control system connects lithium battery in parallel to assist and share the fuel cell load output at this stage. The experimental result will show the data of efficiency & consumed hydrogen quantity for Hybrid Power System and Pure Fuel Cell System. No matter on efficiency, hydrogen consumed quantity and maximum power output, the Hybrid Power System has apparent improvement compared with Pure Fuel Cell System. The result show quantity of consumed hydrogen can save by 8.2% at lower power load condition and at least 43% at middle/high power load condition. Maximum power load condition can reach 45A/2.2kW and transient 35A.However, in order to improve the endurance of the battery must follow the experiment of high efficiency recharged to limit the Maximum power output at low load condition. Then Pure Fuel Cell System can be recharged the lithium battery by 8.1A with Maximum efficiency. To sum up, this model of Hybrid Power System can increase efficiency, endurance and practicability of the fuel cell effectively and expect to prove practicability and reliability with real product under this structure in the future.

A complete system for brain slice neurotransmission research, consisting of three parts,is presented in this paper. Part 1 is a fast and precise thermoregulation system providing accuracy up to 0.1℃ from room temperature through 42℃.The thermoregulation system consists of a single chip microcomputer, a set command module, a display module and a FLC (Fuzzy Logic Control) module. The fuzzy logic controller is implemented by microcomputer software and related peripheral hardware circuits. Part 2 is a method for electrophysiological recording direct to PC hard disk which allows continuous recording at high sampling rates for up to several hours. The recording system has the minimum specifications of 16-channels, high resolution (12-bit), high-speed (200 KHz) and can process spike waveform data while recording. Part 3 is a combined data acquisition system which can simultaneously acquire the electrophysiological and electrochemical signals of nerve cells and also environmental temperature signals from the recording chamber. Additionally, a single carbon-fiber microelectrode, made by us, is used to acquire alternately the electrophysiological and electrochemical signals coming from exactly the same place in the brain slice. A simple switching circuit overcomes the interference problems generated from the two different sampling electrodes traditionally used. Finally, experimental results are presented which show the electrophysiological and electrochemical activity of neurons and the response of neurons to environmental temperature or drugs as recorded by our system,demonstrating that this system does in fa

An experimental investigation was carried out on a half scale model of a helicopter COmbined Infra-Red Suppression and Tail rotor Elimination (CIRSTEL) system to characterise its performance in terms of power consumption, thrust, pressure drops and temperature reduction. The model consists of a Circulation Control Tail Boom and Thruster (CCTB&T) with the hot engine gasses ducted into the tail boom where they are mixed with ambiant air supplied by a fan situated in the body of the helicopter. The CCTB&T replaces the conventional tail rotor on a helicopter and supplies the torque to counter-act the torque applied to the main rotor. The model was tested using both hot and cold air to simulate the flow of hot engine gasses. The performance is defined in terms of thrust, power, and mass flow coefffcients which were found to be constant for the configuration tested. It was shown that the power requirements of the fan are significantly reduced by introducing the hot engine gasses into the tail Boom. The temperature of the hot engine gasses is also reduced from 450°C to approximately 200°C The surface temperature of the model was found to be less than 55'C of the configuration.

Nowadays in the trend of booming condominium units, the buildings inside the community increase more and more. With hundreds even thousands of people living in the community, the management of community becomes a very important factor affecting the living quality of residents. Hence this study focuses on how to improve the living quality of community residents and how to deploy the servers and communication networks with lower cost and maintenance. In order to catch up with the trend of worldwide digital convergence, IPTV becomes one of the hot services in the area of family entertainment. By interactive and easier-using interfaces, IPTV can provide variety of contents and services for their customers. In this paper, therefore, we compare the pros and cons between the user interface of IPTV and computer for community services, and discuss/evaluate the feasibility of leveraging current IPTV digitalizing services and community services. Finally, this study presents a cross-sector model, which combines community management and IPTV services based on the advantage and convenience of IPTV multimedia, and then designs the infrastructure of application servers and the plan of service flow to build up a brand-new digital home life system.

The research examines the educational evaluation of Music appreciation courses about the abilities of choosing incidental music of dramas, as well as the problems and tasks that teachers may encounter and how they fis their music teaching to the solutions. The research method includes: second-hand research document; the survey of students leaning achievements and analysis on it. In addition to gathering the relevant documents as well as the materials and discussing related researches about how to arrange appropriate music for dramas, the value of music teaching for these students choosing the appropriate music for the drama is presented as the reference to the elementary school teachers through the analysis of the worksheets, the analysis of students’ self-evaluation, the observation and introspection of teaching process, and the reaction of students. With the fifth grade students of the Taichung City Wen-Shan elementary school as the sample for all, the field study lasts up to twenty weeks with 40-minute teaching session per week in a totoal of twenty teaching sessions. The conclusions to the discoveries and results of research are as follow: 1. The students can develop their social skill and find the pleasure within the performance. 2. Interaction between teachers and students become more frequent. 3. Enhance the cognitive of music and drama relationships for Fifth grade students. 4. By applying the teaching of music appreciation combined incidental music, it is reinforced for the concepet and the ability of figuring out the appeopriate music for a drama. Finally, the limitations to this research is proposed with its possible solutions for the music educators, and the prospect researchers according to what has been encountered during this study

The thesis is regarding to integrate Blue Tooth 4.0 technology and Gas sensor module. There are a smaller power level shift circuit, blue tooth module and gas sensor were integrated into a LED light bulb successfully. That will be a light control, fire- fighting monitor by wireless'' LED light bulb. A LED light bulb in marketing only sold out by light function. After it be integrated by blue tooth technology, user will become a brightness controller .However, a fire-fighting equipment in home is easy to neglect, the reasons are coming from the equipment’s'' price and it is a uncovered equipment, If a light bulb integrates firefighting equipment, people could avoid buying extra firefighting equipment. People also could monitor the sensor when they stay at home, no matter where they are. Respecting the research and test repot, the light bulb dimensions, power level shift circuit, components and modules placement all should be considering. The LED heat sink covered light bulb decrease blue tooth antenna''s performance issue also is improved. Improving issues and using non-heating sensor as infrared sensor, the design could be achieved the target of system integration, gaseous sensor and energy saving.

There is quite varity of braised snacks in the market, mostly composed of internal organs and processed goods. Because of the wide-spread beliefs in keeping fit and healthy, natural and healthy components are more valued. Due to the lack of healthy braised snacks, the innovation of healthy products has become an issue worthy of research. The purpose of this thesis is to design and evaluate individual pack of healthy braised snacks. In this research, IDEF0 (Integration Definition for Functional Modeling), QFD (Quality Function Deployment) and morphological analysis are used to analyze and design packages of brasied snacks that can be widely accepted. Then the possible product combination are ordered by morpholongical matrix. Lastly, sensory evaluation is used to design questionaires to test the satisfaction of customers toward the new products. The research methods and results can be references of research and practical application for innovation and added-value of dining products.

The combined sine wave is different from the traditional constant current electric constant voltage charging method. It only needs to set the current and voltage, and also needs to set the parameters of its waveform. Therefore, I have done a study on the charging parameters of the combined sine wave. The types are frequency, lower amplitude, and upper amplitude. The first is the frequency. It is found by measurement that the lowest internal resistance of each brand new battery has the same frequency, but the frequency of the battery will change after use. At this time, charging with the frequency corresponding to the lowest internal resistance will have better activation effect. The lower amplitude part, the excessive lower amplitude will cause the peeling of the pole plate, and the reduction of the amplitude will not only increase the charging efficiency but also the upper amplitude. The upper amplitude is related to the charging efficiency and temperature. Change the upper amplitude to adjust the optimal charging efficiency and temperature balance. The above research is to solve the problem that the battery is damaged when the battery is almost full when the battery is charged with a large current conventional charging method, and the battery is charged by a better charging method.

An intelligent house must possess multi-functions which are health, safety, comfort, convenience and energy-conservation. Therefore, fire detection is an important of part in intelligent buildings. Conventional fire detectors respond slowly because they must come into contact with enough heat or smoke, which enters the sensing chamber. This paper describes a non-contact fire-detecting module that is a smoke detector for sensing the product of combustion. Due to the carbon dioxide molecules have a strong radiation from hot smoke particles. In this paper, we use Pyroelectric Infrared (PIR) sensors to detect the flickering and the smoke of a flame, and also solve the problem that the fire is slow-response to the traditional fire sensors. In the future, the fire-detecting device can combine with a wireless XBee module to form a sensing node for using in an internet of things (IOT) or wireless sensor networks (WSN). Nowadays consumer electronics have developed toward the purpose of which are light, small, high-performance and low-power. To make the device be a portable module, we use a DC-to-DC converter IC (APW7212) to offer suitable working voltages for all devices. Research results indicate the fire-detecting module can detect the flicker of flame and the radiation from hot smoke particles accurately. The detect signals implement A/D converter by a microcomputer (MSP430) then send to the PC through XBee module. In PC, the LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) software is used as a human–machine interface to collect fires information through a RS232C interface. This study may provide a useful reference for researchers attempting to increase quality of fire-detecting.

After the U.S. ended the first and the second Persian Gulf Wars and the Kosovo War in a very short time, China changed its traditional military thinking and strategy, which brought a transition in military strategy. For accommodating the war mode in the future, China has developed mass military plans. Not only the change and innovation were made about the military thought and tactics, but also the army and technology were effectively researched and developed. China’s military thinking has been formed gradually under such circumstances. China’s military decides its training principles according to the environmental background in different times such as the training focused on how to win a regional war under the condition of high technology in 1993; on “Two Changes” in 1995; on “Technological Exercise” in 1997. In 1999 and 2003, China gained experiences from Kosovo War and the second Persian Gulf War and applied them to the annual training assessments in every military branch, then extended to each unit for exercise, examined the results and put emphasis on the exercise of “New Three Attacks and Three Defenses”. Furthermore, to deal with the U.S. forces, which may intervene in Taiwan issue, China’s military established four new tactics for the preparation of the future war against the U.S.: “Strike the unmanned airplane first and then the manned airplane”; “Guard against precision guidance weapons and then cruise missiles”; “Strike the early warning aircraft first and then carrier battle group”; “Strike the invisible aircraft first and then the bomber aircraft”. This research mainly probes into China’s ability of military exercise towards Taiwan and to predict how China’s military will handle Taiwan issue with its military forces. Chapter One discusses motivation and purpose, scope and limitations, and method and structure. The relative nouns of military strategy are defined, and the references on military exercise towards Taiwan are reviewed. Chapter Two elaborates the formation of China’s military strategic thinking and the basic tactic of Amphibious-Landing Operation. Chapter Three analyzes the steps of Combined Amphibious-Landing Operation of exercised by China’s military and to find out its ability of preliminary, landing and land operations. Chapter Four compares the transmission of the tactics, the ability of resistance against U.S. and the meaning of strategy with the exercises near Dongshan Island during 1995 and 2004. Chapter Five probes into the features and evaluation of each operation stages of China’s military, which includes the preliminary operations, ocean assault landing, air assault landing and land operation. Chapter Six comes to the conclusion. In conclusion, China''s military strategy against Taiwan can be divided into three dimensions: First, the completion of its military forces against Taiwan in all areas before 2007. Second, the possession of the fighting ability of large-scale before 2010. Third, the capability to win any type of war in a short time before 2010. Based on these dimensions, we can find that China is approaching its goals over the years after examining the China’s military exercise towards Taiwan. While the relation between China and Taiwan is not clear, and the U.S. and Japan have not made any promise on military issues, it is recommended that our nation to be prepared for the future war and get ready to engage at any time.

The main object of this thesis is focused on the study of the technique for the combined grid-connection/power factor correction of a photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system will fulfill the function of parallel power factor correction (PFC) to reshape the source current to be sinusoidal and in-phase with the source voltage. The excess generated power will then be stored in the batteries or supplied to the load. The proposed photovoltaic system is grid-connected without reverse power flow capability. Thus the islanding effects will not be taken into account. The realized system consists of solar cell modules, a maximum power tracking (MPT) circuit, batteries, a power factor correction circuit and related controllers. The operating point of the solar cells is determined by the MPT circuit. The output DC voltage is then fed to the power factor correction circuit and converted to an AC voltage for grid-connection. Also the MPT circuit can serve as a charger for the batteries. The presented control strategy is firstly to achieve a unity power factor at the source side, then to charge the batteries and to supply the load power lastly. When the generated photovoltaic power is not enough, either the charged batteries or the mains will supply power to correct the power factor. According to the above statements, a novel parallel PFC technique will be proposed and implemented in this thesis. The distribution ratios of the generated photovoltaic power to the load, the PFC and the batteries are controlled by the DC voltage level of the charged batteries. The proposed photovoltaic system is suitable for single or multiple domestic loads.

The transportation works in Taiwan has continually opened for operation in recent years. While the hardware is getting finished, the software (such as ITS), which goes with it has become the future trend. Because of the rapidly progressing of wireless network and digital image technology, Taiwanese people can now enjoy more convenient environment. However, in the age where information explodes, the current trend is the integration of information application. Most highways and parking lots in Taiwan nowadays use tradition way of charging. The electronic toll collection we have now has to be installed inside of the car; the expensive equipment and the recharge e card not only increase the prime cost but also bring the drivers great inconvenience. This dissertation combines Mobil IP, AAA system and Car License Recognition System to frame a system which is applicable for safe, fair and convenient electronic toll collection on highways. The whole electronic toll collection process can record the trading information clearly. The cost can be combined into the cell phone bill; drivers do not need to spend extra time to buy ticket books or install expensive equipment. From the mobile communication, the location of cars can be monitored. Furthermore, to achieve the fair charging principle, cars on highway will be charged by their distance and others in the parking lot will be charged by the exact length. The trading agreement we bring up not only can monitor and compute reasonably, but also speed up cars that go through the toll gate and lower the labor cast. As for parking lots, this system can improve the inconvenience of traditional way of charging such as the drivers need to get off the car or have trouble looking for the parking sign. Using this electronic toll collecting system can avoid the disturbance immediately; in addition, we could also be informed by the information service of the available parking spaces.

The purpose of this research is to design a high-sensitivity, high resolution and low noise system of a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor. In this paper, a Distributed Feed-back Bragg laser diode (DFBLD)was used as a light source, and quadrature interferometry technique was also used to setup the optical system. A synthetic heterodyne signal process was then developed to deal with the signal data. In this novel system, it preserves the advantages of high sensitivity and high resolution quality of SPR biosensor. A high signal to noise(S/N) ratio and linear data of phase difference were obtained by signal processing to filter the low frequency noise.

Due to rapid technological changes torrent and information society, teaching methods are also subject to a huge impact. The most obvious case is the rise of digital learning. Evolving from the digital games, serious games have an explicit and carefully thought-out educational purpose and are not intended to be played primarily for amusement. Near Field Communication(NFC)is an emerging technology, which is a set of short-range wireless technologies that allows NFC-enabled devices for short-distance wireless communication data transmission. With the rise of smart phones, more and more manufacturers install NFC technology in the smartphone. It makes NFC technology have wide applications. This research attempts to combine NFC technology with learning serious games. Our game is a developed from the traditional bingo game which can be played with a NFC enabled smartphone. When playing our bingo game, students can practice quizzes which are designed by their teachers. In order to increase the gameplay and irritating, this system supports network connections modes. The system contains an easy way to customize NFC format for the system, so that teachers can easily edit the content of NFC tags.

This study focused to Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) composite material members with different types of section combination in order to improve the stiffness of a single component. In response to design requirements, the appropriate GFRP section was selected with reference to the actual scale of the GRFP beam-deck system. This paper uses different beam sections which are bonded together with a GFRP plate to conduct a three-point bending test. According to test results, the ultimate strength, stiffness and failure mode of the combined component is enhanced when compared to the single component. Finally, the Finite Element Method (FEM) numerical simulation of the combined GFRP beam-deck system was done with ANSYS before comparing the experimental result with the analytical result and thus, verifying the accuracy of the FEM model. Through scaled experiments and analysis conducted to investigate the failure mode, the combined GFRP beam-deck system had achieved the optimum safety requirements of its connected members and proves to have a good economic.

The purpose of this study is to improve the self-consumption solar pv system combined with cooling heating and power(CH-1000), which simplify from HyPV, and to maintain its low cost advantages, and to use new circuit design for smart heating. Taking 2016 as the example, independent residential fire can be accounted to be 43.2%, with 58% of death for 98 as the highest casualties. Housing complexes always have janitors, who can inform the fire units once if with fire alarms or with fastest proper treatment right away. However, there’s no such arrangement of personnel for independent houses; which means the fire alarm function nothing if without capable adults in the house for the appropriate method. According to statistics, approximately half of death by fire occurs among residents in independent houses; later recognition of the fire, sick persons, young children, and aged residents, are the major victims. In addition, the loss of property caused by fire is another high cost of society. General function of fire alarm is triggered by alarm speaker (horn); shortage of judgment, physical strength, or other specified conditions during alarm, the function still doesn’t work but generates casualties by life or property. Considering above mentioned, corresponding strategies by integrating Internet of Things (IOT) and fire alarm is recommended; which exchanges the speakers to GSM module for scenario controlled by Arduino for announcing the fire through phone-voice message with higher possibility to rescue those unable persons during the fire, and the direct and accurate notice to the fire rescue unit staffs. Research results confirm the efficacy on contacting the relevant personnel with alert for making up the shortages of fire alarm for independent houses. This research only constructs one main function of the basic system, which suggest the mobile phone APP with connection to digital disaster prevention system with related settings directly, ex. setting up related people, no. of contacts, or even linkage to security system or direct notice to police and fire units for perfect system as well as security of lives and properties. In this dissertation, we use adaptive input estimation method which is composed of Kalman filter and adaptive least-squares estimator to the applications in three different areas which are listed below to prove and verify the effectiveness and correctness of the presented method. The effectiveness of the presented method is also proved in the environment that measurment bias is unexpectedly occurred. Firstly, the presented method is applied to the electronic component to inversely estimate heat flux and temperature profile of the semiconductor integrated circuit device. Secondly, the presented method is applied to the optical component to inversely estimate the heat flux and temperature profile of LED (Light Emitter Diode). Thirdly, the presented method is applied to defense technology to inversely estimate the heat flux of the lunch missile and the temperature profile of the decking. Heat flux estimation inversely of the machine gun fire and the temperature profile estimation inversely of the wall of the machine gun are also applied. The simulation results derive excellent conclusion for each application. It proves the effectiveness and correctness of the presented method in estimation of temperature profile and unknown heat flux inversely. It also shows that the presented method can effectively help semiconductor industry and optoelectronics industry to solve the overheat problem of the semiconductor integrated circuit device and high power LED.

Abstract This research explores the effectiveness of Taiwan's 2012 combined Presidential and Legislative Elections. Three phases including policy formation, policy planning, and policy implementation were studied through the impacts of social benefits and cost of the combined elections. The focuses were mainly on whether the combined elections were consistent with the positive political expectation. Especially it was to examine the impact of policy from legal, regulatory, and systematic perspectives when deciding date of the elections. In addition, satisfaction of voters and staffs working for the elections was investigated in this research. Documentary analysis and in-depth interview were the main research methods for this study. There were three important findings. Firstly, policy formation was driven by political atmosphere. It was believed that public expectation for the two-in-one combined elections could have huge cost savings. And the costs of political mobilization for elections could be reduced. Secondly, for policy planning, combined elections could have cost savings on election expenses for both governments and political parties. As for legal and regulatory aspect, there were positive and negative views. Both KMT and DPP concerned about the Presidential and vice Presidential Transition Act Draft.” However, the draft has not been put on the process of legislation. Thirdly, cost savings were also the main purpose of policy implementation. Policy implementation did not arouse great disputes and defects that might lead to more social cost. However, it might be expected the voting rate for the Legislator Election to be low if there were two different election dates. In addition, the merged elections were also leading to political effects, such as the coattail effect of presidential candidates. It might encourage supporters to vote for legislative candidates of his party. There are three suggestions for this study. First, policy formation is still affected by political atmosphere. Therefore, we have to make the decision carefully. Second, the policy planning process has to be improved. And we need to change the related laws. As for the Presidential and vice Presidential Transition Act draft, it could reduce the social cost and risks. Thirdly, policy implementation is very peaceful in this election. But we have to be cautious about the hidden risks.

For software developers, accurately forecasting software effort is very important.In the field of software engineering, it is also a very challenging topic. Miscalculated software effort in the early phase might cause a serious consequence. It not only effects the schedule, but also increases the cost price. It might cause a huge deficit. Because all of the different software development team has it is own way to calculate the software effort, the factors affecting project development are also varies. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a model which combines genetic algorithm (GA) with support vector machines (SVM). We can find the best parameter of SVM regression by the proposed model, and make more accurate prediction. During the research, we test and verify our model by using the historical datas in four databases, including COCOMO、Desharnais、Kemerer and Albrecht. We will show the results by prediction level (PRED) and mean magnitude of relative error (MMRE).

This paper discusses the implementation of the ARM 7 core as the basis for combining GPS receiver and GSM/GPRS module. GPS and GPRS are combined and this embedded system of the ARM 7 core is installed on the vehicle. Via linkage of the system through the internet, the location of the vehicle can be seen on an electronic map. In addition, if a critical situation arises, the most recent vehicle location and coordinates recorded by the GPS can be quickly sent to control system. Moreover, we design a server for multi-user to monitor and to tape-record vehicles online. Simulations results showed that the system performs consistently, and correctly shows the location of the vehicle on the electronic map.

Microwave is suitable over line-of-sight propagation between transmit and receive ends without obstacles and it is a good high-speed transmission technique. If there were any obstacle between the transmission links, the reflection caused by obstacles may weaken the strength of signals, so that microwave has obvious advantages in high frequency which has short return path. Now in our country, there are variety of applications of microwave techniques, such as microwave processing systems in the Hsinchu Science Park, radar systems in military and national defense field, satellites and communication systems in space programs and so on. A power amplifier is one of the important components in microwave system, and plays an irreplaceable role in wireless communication integrated circuits. During the propagation of signals, the strength of signals decrease with the increase of the transmission distance, and that becomes unavoidable limit when we design RF circuits. We must amplify signals before propagating out of the antenna, so designing a high output power and acceptable power added efficiency power amplifier becomes a crucial step in the development of microwave technique. And a low noise amplifier is a key component in the design of RF receiver chain. A low noise amplifier offers enough gain and low noise figure, depressing the effects for noise figure from other components and reducing total noise figure in the whole system which causes signal demodulation more convenient. As the reasons above, the analysis and design of power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers is the main content in this thesis. In this thesis, one power amplifiers, one rectifier, and one low noise amplifier were discussed. The power amplifier was designed at 2.5GHz for 4th generation, and implemented in a standard TSMC 0.18μm CMOS technology. The rectifier was designed at 2.5GHz in order to integrate with the 2.5GHz power amplifier and use these components to apply to wireless transmission experiment. The rectifier was implemented in a standard WIN 0.15μm GaAs pHEMT technology. And the low noise amplifier was designed at 3.3-10.3GHz Ultra Wide Band, and implemented in a standard TSMC 0.18μm CMOS technology.

Acoustic signal recognition is one of the main research field of digital signal processing. In this main research topic, the feature parameters and the recognition system are two important topic worth research. However, there are two emphases about this research. The one is the underwater acoustic signal feature parameters extracted by using digital signal processing and trained by the self-organizing map neural network to get the template feature parameters which input into recognition system. The other is the optimizing fuzzy logic recognition system constructed by applying genetic algorithm. Finally, the two parts are integrated to perform signal recognition task and prove that our research can be realized. During the feature parameter extraction stage, accounting to the research of the feature parameter extraction, the feature can response to different ship’s characteristic. In addition to the self-organizing map neural network was used in the training phase for clustering the input data, generate the center of data set and respectively obtain the template feature parameters. During the fuzzy logic recognition system modeling stage, each ship’s template feature parameters are utilized on to construct the preliminary fuzzy logic recognition system. In the system, genetic algorithm is further used to fine-tune the membership functions of the if-then inference rules. Hence, the condition parts of the rules can be automatically adjusted to increase the recognition rate. Moreover, in order to make the recognition system intensively compact, genetic algorithm is applied to filter out the insignificant or redundant rules. The pruned compact system not only needs less time for inference, but also makes the inference process simpler and more explainable. Thus in order to improve recognition efficiency, we have to obtain the precision of template feature parameters and simplify the algorithms for the purpose of saving process time. By using object-orient language to develop modular system architecture, we shorten program develop time and improve system execute performance, so that this research be able to apply on personal computer and a realizable acoustic signal recognition system be constructed. The performance of system is simple in operation, quick and accurate in recognition.

This creative research on ‘human replication’ provides an emotional depiction of the current state in today’s society and calls for self-vigilance. The inclusion of robot toys leads to a probe into the essence of nostalgia, i.e. longing to relive the wonderful moments in the past, and a reflection on the aloofness in today’s society. The android Andrew’s strong desire to become human in ‘Bicentennial Man’ serves as an irony that mocks humans who are now generally controlled by machines. Through a literature review, several heterogeneous elements are analyzed, deconstructed and aggregated. These imbued with creative sentiments are represented in men’s wear creations in the form of jacquard designs. Combination of clashing materials and the cut line design hint on the process in which humans are turning into machines. The essence of creation in humanity and fashion is explored in depth and applied to modern clothing to evoke resonance.

The quadcopter has been popular in recent years because it is stable and easy to control. Therefore, it is applied to many fields, such as shooting, competitive flight, rescue and so on. In this article, Arduino NANO and MPU6050 module were used to make the quadcopter. Understanding the four-axis system flight principles and theories as well as adjusting the PID controller helped to achieve flight stablility of the four-axis aircraft. With the rise of wireless induction devices, the gesture recognition could be realized. Through the Leap Motion device, we could understand the logic of gestures and test the success rate of each gestures. Finally, with combination of Parrot Ardrone2.0 and gesture recognition control, we found the connection problem. The program code in gesture control was changed to solve it, and this experiment was completed then. The experimental results showed the high performance of gesture recognition and the success in controling the quadcopter.

With the increase of Internet Service and medical needs, medical information website provide the classification if medical department, it can help patient to choose the hospital and the doctor. Today, medical information website use patient E-WOM to provide new doctor recommendation service. This study basis on outpatient combining divisions, outpatient moment, physician specialty, disease category and E-WOM recommendation system model and architecture. We use the physician experience, the average patient registration numbers, numbers of E-WOM recommendation and numbers of positive article to construct the model. Finally, we use the 80/20 Rule divide into Community Recommended Model and outpatient Top Model. This Model can help people get doctor’s information quickly, reduce the time of search doctor and the waste of medical cost.

The research adopted dance pad combined flat,let three groups of students with autism with their peers ,that situation and the effectiveness of social interaction . In this study, the withdrawal of single subject and pour back experiments (ABAB) design consists of: baseline period (A1), the first experimental treatment period (B1), withdrawal and pour back stage (A2), the second experimental treatment period (B2). Data show that the number of times within three minutes that the number of students with autism with their peers in Social Interactions stepping of the first group of subjects on average 0 times increased from baseline (A1) to the first experimental treatment period (B1) of 14.75 times, withdrawal and pour back stage (A2) as 0 times, the second experimental treatment period (B2) to intervene again and rose to16.75 times. The second group of subjects at baseline (A1) has 0 times the average number of first experimental treatment period (B1) rose to 25.75 times, and pour back the withdrawal phase (A2) is 0 times, the second experimental treatment period (B2) to intervene again and rose to 26.5 times. The third group of subjects at baseline (A1) has 0 times the average number of first experimental treatment period (B1) rose to 18.42 times, and pour back the withdrawal phase (A2) is 0 times, the second experimental treatment period (B2) to intervene again and rose to19.25 times. Between adjacent stages of visual analysis, all reached p<.01 level of significance, the proof of this experimental intervention for students with autism to enhance the students with autism with their peers in social interactions of the experiment, with a significant effect.

The disk concentrator VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) abatement system (honeycomb VOCs concentrator combine with gas oxidation) is successfully applied for VOCs exhaust treatment in TFT-LCD industry, and it has been proved to be a viable solution for VOCs emission to comply with the laws. Many different system operation parameters (include rotation speed, concentration ratio, regeneration temperature) play important roles on treatment efficiency. In this paper, we discuss the relationship between different operation parameters and removal efficiency, and contribute our experience for system operation. The removal efficiency can keep above 95% during a long period running by system operation parameters optimal adjustment. We also use the regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) to reduce the ignition residual products.

The objective of this research is to design a electricity capacity measurement module and develop a precision electricity capacity mearurement method of the battery.We use the Hall Current Sensing Method to measure Charge and Discharge current and combinate Near Field Communication to transmit and record each situation of the battery in the Electric Vehicle . So far each method of the electricity capacity measurement has advantage and disadvantage. In this research we use Coulometric Method to measure the electricity capacity and predict the error capacity, and our electricity capacity measurement method is able to predict electricity of the battery and record each using status in the battery. The electricity capacity measurement module can judge that operate in charge state or discharge state. In both charge state and discharge state use ampare-hour method to caculate electricity capacity. Beside calculate the electricity capacity, it also calculates number of times of the both charge and discharge; research the situation of each electricity capacity measurement when Electric Vehicle operate in each traffic circumstance. We also transmit data to data reader by the wireless module (ZigBee Wireless Module) of the Battery Electricity Capacity Measurement Module, and then computer reads data via UART or USB and express it on the computer.
