Texte intégralThe Circular Economy is receiving growing attention in both academia and industry, yet the implementation of circular principles continues to face significant challenges. In particular, dynamic supply chains and efficient logistics systems that can support circular operations remain underdeveloped. This thesis addresses three key challenges in circular supply chains and offers distinct contributions to advance this evolving field. First, it explores the integration of Physical Internet principles into circular supply chains. Circular systems involve complex multi-directional flows of materials, collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and active engagement from end customers, all of which introduce unique operational challenges. Physical Internet principles — such as seamless flows, stakeholder collaboration, and plug-and-play functionalities — position it as a promising potential solution to these challenges. A conceptual framework is introduced, merging Physical Internet and circular supply chain concepts, and detailing ten interrelated characteristics. Additionally, a maturity model is developed to help companies assess their current practices and devise action plans for adopting this framework. The second contribution addresses the challenge of demand estimation for new businesses entering the circular economy. A market potential estimation framework is proposed, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative methods. This framework combines clustering analysis, multi-criteria decision-making techniques, and expert judgment to estimate market potential based on existing product statistics and secondary market research. The third contribution focuses on supply chain network design within the Circular Economy and Physical Internet context. A decision-support system is developed, incorporating mixed-integer programming models to optimize facility location decisions. This system incorporates the conceptual framework from the first contribution and leverages demand scenarios from the second, offering decision-makers tailored solutions for network design. All three contributions are illustrated through an industrial case on the electric retrofitting of Internal Combustion Engine vehicles, demonstrating the applicability and relevance of the proposed solutions

Texte intégralIn this thesis, a simulation-based multi-objective optimization method is proposed for supply chain design under realistic conditions. The proposed approach is comprised of two building blocks: an optimizer and a simulation model builder. The optimizer, based on a multi-objective genetic algorithm, is used to direct the search for best-compromised solutions with respect to various conflicting criteria, such as cost and customer service level. The optimization variables incorporate not only the supply chain structure but also the system control parameters. Candidate solutions suggested by the optimizer are evaluated through simulation, which enables realistic evaluations taking into account uncertainties and dynamics along supply chain. The simulation model builder is developed to facilitate automatic model creation, which is a challenging issue as decision variables also involve the supply chain network structure. Two real-life case studies, from the automotive and textile industry, are presented to validate the proposed method and to illustrate its various features

Texte intégralThe supply chain design is a set of strategic decisions that determine the best configuration of the supply chain and contribute to its performance. Therefore, our objective is the establishment of a support system to assist decision makers in this process, a crucial step for the sustainability of the Supply Chain. In this work, we focused on three key decisions necessary made at the first stage in the Supply Chain design. These decisions mainly concern: the facility location, the choice of suppliers and make or buy semi-finished products which fall within the formation of a final product. These three decisions are multi-criteria problems. Furthermore, evaluating a wide range of alternatives with respect to conflicting criteria, the lack of reliable data sources, the subjectivity inherent to individuals involved in making decisions, constitute a set of constraints that we are trying to overcome by using a method that has provided valuable solutions in other applications: the fuzzy reasoning. This approach is combined with mathematical optimization method through the concept of total utility. This gives a "hybrid model", because on the one hand it is based on mathematical optimization theory and in the other hand on the multi-criteria theory. It allows considering the operational and strategic aspects of the Supply chain design problem. .

Texte intégralDesigning a supply chain network involves determining the opening of centers and routes within a network, which allows transporting products to customers while minimizing costs. At a tactical level, the design is supplemented by the transportation planning of the products, as well as the dimensioning of stock capacities.Modeling the mathematical optimization problem can help design such a network. The model must include a sufficient level of detail in order to propose industrially relevant solutions. However, the difficulty of solving these models and the industrial-sized instances encourage the designers to simplify the model. In this context, we propose a model formulation of a supply chain network design problem for an automotive manufacturer's tactical distribution of vehicles and analyze some particularities of this problem. The model allows us to perform a quantitative study of an industrial problem with real data. Then, we propose a methodology to analyze the impact of input data aggregation on the model's results and apply it to our case study.A sensible choice of the input aggregation level allows for saving computational resources.Besides, it can reduce the effort of developing more efficient resolution methods and recovering data. However, finding a balance between the size reduction of the model and the results' accuracy is not trivial. We study the impact of different levels and dimensions of aggregation on the model's behavior in terms of performance and solution characteristics. Finally, model users tend to understand better and thus more readily accept a model whose level of detail corresponds to the decision level concerned. In fact, an important metric to gain users' trust is the accuracy of the cost estimate of the solutions. Therefore, we study the impact of input data aggregations on the quality of solution cost estimation. We propose a method to readjust the cost estimate of the solutions obtained with input aggregation in order to promote the acceptance of the decision support tool

Texte intégralThe growing global population and its effect on food security and the urgency for climate change mitigation, are issues that foster innovations to increase the efficiency of the use of natural resources. Among them, biomass is a renewable resource highly available. A biorefinery can transform biomass in source of energy, materials and chemical products. However, at the early stage of a biorefinery project, strategic decisions have to be made, including location, production capacity or technology to be used, determining the project’s feasibility. As a consequence, the decision process needs to consider several aspects, as the specific conditions of the territory where the project is supposed to be deployed. A recent study shows that despite this problem has been treated by the multiple objective programming community, the main focus has been centered on factors of economic profitability. However, consider the whole dimensions of sustainability, “Economical”, “Social”, “Environmental”, “Technological” and “Political” is essential in this kind of project. Under these conditions, not all available optimization tools are suitable. Hence, a preliminary study about multi-objective optimization tools is realized. Then, a general optimization modeling strategy integrating the sustainability dimensions at the early stage of a biorefinery project is developed. To finish, the developed model is applied to the case study of biorefinery deployment in Colombia. It will permit a better visibility for decision makers, because its capability to propose scenarios and evaluate sustainability trade-offs by integrating stakeholders preferences

Texte intégralOur doctoral research aims to bring innovative light on the supply chain in the context offranchise networks based on resource theory and stakeholder theory. As part of an explorationstrategy, research contributes to enriching the work on franchise networks in terms of the supplychain. Such an approach, hitherto little explored, makes it possible to better understand thecompetitive advantage of supply chain control for the franchise network and the role of thelogistics service provider (LSP) in the French context. Indeed, its advisory role, and even theprescriber of the evolution of processes, relies on its knowledge of the supply chain businesses, imbued with the customer's culture, and its ability to impose the necessary changes vis-à-vis3PLs from which it will have subcontracted part of its activities. Research shows that supplychain management is a strategic challenge for the franchise network. Through case studies, thelong-term relationship, trust and ownership of the network culture by the PSL are essentialcriteria for the competitive advantage of supply chain control in favor of the network franchise

Texte intégralThis work joins in a project consisting in developing prototype of an autonomous and smart RF sensor allowing the realization of a wireless sensor network in an industrial environment. This thesis deals with the study, the design and the realization of the radio-frequency part of the transmitter using the 863-870 MHz ISM band and the CMOS AMS 0.35µm technology. This transmitter includes all the functions from the local oscillator to the power amplifier. The integrated circuit occupies a surface of 0.22mm² and consumes approximately 27mA under a supply voltage of 3.3V. Numerous innovative principles were implemented and validated. All these principles can be easily transposed into other standards of communication and in other frequency bands. The results of the post-layout simulation completely satisfy the specifications and confirm the simulations. Partial experimental characterization validates new architectures proposed

Texte intégralNew logistics model, such as the Physical Internet, offer a breakthrough in the way goods are routed inside networks that are more and more inter-connected. This inter-connection requires innovative, Internet-of-Things-like, information systems for tracking and routing those goods within open loops. This double redefinition of physical and digital flows is bound to impact logistics service providers professions and their business models. Through an action-research on be-half of an industrial consortium, we study this question in three steps : by experimenting track and trace standardized technologies used to manage returnable transport items, by identifying new value logics induced by these new technological means, and finally observing how these new technologies and businesses impact the logistics services in place. Our results validate the benefit of these new information systems to trace logistical units within the Physical Internet. A range of new business tactics induced by those new digital and physical models is proposed. However, to the extent of our research, the logistic’s network business models are not yet impacted by these new digital logics

Texte intégralThe area in question is generally related to industrial logistics in Morocco, more particularly the industrial logistics in the automotive sector and the mode of supply of the production chain. The general problematic is: how to minimize the logistics’ costs and increase the production pace while reducing the delivery time of the finished product. The answer lies on the mode of supply as well as on the production chain feeding. In fact, there are two modes of supply in the automotive sector: The mode of supply collection that meets a need in CKD batches of 48 vehicles in the form of a weekly boarding application. This mode is completely disconnected from the norms and standards of Renault; and The new mode of supply by parts, called “Appro-pièces”, which is mainly used in the majority of Renault production sites. This mode consists of the daily expression of needs for the parts. The production site, thus, manages not only the documentation of the vehicles it manufactures but also assumes the responsibility for the stock of its parts. Each reference is packed in suitable packing (lost or returnable packaging). With the introduction of the second mode of supply in the Supply Chain of SOMACA, the result proved to be positive : Realization of 100 Euros benefit on each vehicle. Increase of the production speed: 60 to 220 vehicles/day and a target of 340 vehicle in 2012 for the X90 (Logan/Sandero Morocco, Logan/Sandero export). More local integration (sheetmetal also) thanks to the rapid increase in production speed. Creation of the labor force by passing a single team to 3 teams per day. Multiplication of the parts’ sourcings (ILNs and local suppliers)

Texte intégralThe deployment of a market for hydrogen energy is a new problem, considered by governments, industrials and scientists to meet global targets of greenhouse gases emissions reduction and to ensure security in energy supply. In this context, the optimization problem of scheduling the deployment until 2050 of the hydrogen supply chain for fuel market throughout a country has been the object of our study. We get support of Air Liquide Company, his experience and experts in production and distribution of industrial hydrogen, to build an approach to the problem meeting the requirements of an industrial context. After defining and characterizing the optimization problem through a systemic analysis of the distribution infrastructure, we proposed a method suited to its resolution. Monte Carlo simulations enabled us to develop cost functions. Then we developed a heuristic algorithm for approximate optimization of these cost functions. Our approach has necessitated the definition of simulation rules, a design of experiment and a regression method, as well as a heuristic algorithm adapted to the structure of the problem. The specification, development and use of software tools have helped to validate the chosen methodology for the optimization of the uncertain problem of our study. The scenario of evolution has created a reference to validate the model and provide some analysis for early studies of deployment

Texte intégralIt is well known that the territorial industrial ecosystem is now a major issue in territory planning policies. As a result, it constitutes a system of action in which the various actors involved use different approaches and whose objectives are not always close and sometimes conflicting points of view. In all approaches, an ideal type of dashboard incorporating indicators and focusing on performance pilotage is emerging today from the literature. In this context, it appears the importance of the treatment of the problem of evaluation of a territorial industrial ecosystem and more precisely the evaluation of the performance of a distribution system in a port area: the hinterland. This subject has not been sufficiently developed in the literature since it has not been treated with a multidisciplinary approach. This problem is characterized by the strong link between the transport infrastructure, the territorial system and the logistics zones following the exchange of goods flows in the territory through the transport infrastructure. The theoretical contribution of this work is presented in the original investigation approach, which involves different theoretical approaches in order to understand and solve a problem related to two complex systems (the logistics system and the territorial system). For clarity, this work is a decision aid through the reflection on distribution solutions by integrating territorial specificities and not as a tool for optimizing tours or logistics organization

Texte intégralThis thesis contributes to the deployment of the hydrogen infrastructures by proposing new strategies based on optimization approaches. A state of the art on the design of the hydrogen supply chain has been previously carried out, and allows to identify in the literature two research perspectives. The first one concerns the coverage of the entire supply chain, on the one hand upstream at the level of the location of raw material suppliers and the supply of production centres (transport aspect), and on the other hand downstream at the level of the location of distribution points (refueling stations) and their supply (transport). To integrate these components, a new planning model is developed. It merges the classical models, more precisely an HSCND (Hydrogen Supply Chain Network Design) model at the central level, i.e. at the level of production and storage, and an HSRP (Hydrogen Refueling Station Planning) model at the end of the chain, which considers distribution. This new model also integrates the consideration of supply sources. It is expressed as a mixed number integer linear program, with the objective of minimizing the least cost of hydrogen (LCOH). Its interest is validated by a case study representing Franche-Comté in France. The second research area explored is the integration of the strategic and tactical decision-making levels. The aim is to simultaneously optimize the location of refueling stations and the routes to supply these stations, by considering as actuated the decisions previously taken from the supply sources to the hydrogen production centers. The objective is to maximize the refueling demand flow captured, while minimizing the total daily cost. Two metaheuristic algorithms are developed to solve this problem, one based on an adaptive large neighbourhood search, the other on a genetic algorithm. The proposed model and algorithms are applied to the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in France

Texte intégralOur research addresses the problem of designing a multi-level supply chain, while taking into consideration the product life cycle. By product life cycle, we mean the succession of the four marketing stages that a product goes through since its introduction to the market and until it will be removed from. All products have a life cycle which can be classified into four discrete stages: introduction, growth, maturity and decline.Depending on the product life cycle phases, and based on a thorough analysis of the different supply chain potential actors, this study aims to establish mathematical models to design an efficient supply chain network. Three main models have been developed in this thesis. The first proposed model aims to design a product-driven supply chain with a minimal total cost, taking into consideration the evaluation of the different potential actors effectiveness, according to several criteria (cost, quality, innovation, quality service, timely delivery, ...).A second model was developed to design of a sustainable supply chain network, taking into account the product life cycle. In this model, three different objectives at the time were considered, namely, an economic objective, an environmental objective and a social objective. In the two previous models, we have assumed that the product has a classical life cycle. However, in the reality this is not always the case. Indeed, some products have very atypical life cycles, whose curves are very different from the classical one. To tackle this problem, in the third part of this thesis, we propose a stochastic model to design a robust supply chain network, taking into account the different product life cycle scenarios

Texte intégralLn the present work, the sustainabillty concept has been redeflned so that common understanding can be guaranteed. Subsequently, a model intended to evaluate an existent supply chain's overall degree of sustainability has been developed and empirically tested through a case study. Considering the approach of continuous improvement, this evaluation should be followed by a redesign of the considered supply chain. However, a risk assessment needs to be done ex-ante. Forthis reason, a risk Identification and quantification model has been evolved. This model may consider bath, the risks leading to the redesign process and the risks resultlng from the redesign phase. A case study, which considers the risks leading to a redesign phase, has been implemented so that the model's feasibility in a real business' environment can be proved. The model's outcomes must not be mistaken for ultimate results but need to be considered being a decision support for managers

Texte intégralThe management of plastic waste is a major problem that has yet to be resolved with a view to a more sustainable development of human activities. Among the possible solutions, recycling is an interesting way to recycle non-renewable materials. After decades of centralized recycling, there is now a growing interest in approaches based on distributed recycling. Taking advantage of the democratization of open-source 3D printing technologies (OS), we propose to revalorize locally the plastics that can be used by these technologies. This distributed recycling can be considered as a kind of "intelligent network", composed of small coordinated recycling units, which provide recycled plastic filaments to the 3D printing community. The technical feasibility of this plastic recycling approach has been proven in the literature. However, its feasibility from a supply chain and logistics perspective has yet to be demonstrated. In order to address this issue, this research thesis seeks to provide answers to the following research question: Under what conditions is it possible to deploy a sustainable network of local and distributed plastics recycling using open-source 3D printing technologies? Taking into account the above, this research work aims to propose a framework for the analysis and evaluation, from a sustainability perspective, of the distributed plastic recycling approach for 3D printing. The proposed evaluation framework combines optimization and system dynamics in the evaluation of the sustainability of the recycling approach. The application of the evaluation framework to a specific case study of a university seeking to implement a distributed recycling demonstrator to recover 3D printing waste from middle and high schools in northeastern France illustrated the feasibility from a sustainability perspective

Texte intégralRegulations on product recycling rates, but also growing consciousness on the importance of eco-design, enforce industrials to seek for solutions to recycle their products at their end of life. Growing environmental concerns in the industry allow new business opportunities and require organizational changes to support transition toward more sustainable industrial activities. Building a recycling industrial activity for materials coming from end of life products is a great challenge that requires an analysis of the opportunities and threats and the added value of industrial partners, in the scope of a collaborative project (or a collaborative network). This kind of projects aims at designing a new recycling supply chain and to design a new product that will be manufactured by this supply chain. R&D collaborative projects enable to gather complementary competencies in order to propose solutions to increase the recycling rate on the territory. Nowadays, experiences such as collaborative projects are witnessed, giving various new business possibilities in the recycling industry. However, a literature review we have performed points out that there is no existing method permitting to analyze the opportunity of a recycling value chain and to guide industrials in the definition of a “recycling collaborative project”. Moreover, for such projects, the selection of the partners is of great issue for the industrials. Indeed, the values brought by the partners make the interest of the project and favor the success of the collaboration. However, there is no existing method to choose R&D collaborative project partners efficiently in the scope of the recycling industry. A literature review presents the industrial and scientific state of the art and highlights the existing best practices in order to take them into account for the proposal of an original contribution. From the state of the art we can highlight a lack of methods that would associate R&D collaborative project organizations with the development of recycling supply chains; this positioning contributes to the originality of the work realized. Our contribution is to propose three methods to help industrials to define a collaborative project for the design and building of a new recycling supply chain: • The first method we propose facilitates the understanding of a recycling emerging industry mechanisms, act simultaneously on the environmental impact by recycling end of life products and on the business competitiveness by differentiation in new industrial activities. • The second method we developed must helps recycling R&D project managers to define a “recycling collaborative project”, the target market, the recycled product that will be manufactured and the potential structure of the future supply chain. • The third method is related to the question of partner selection with the proposal of a ranking method and the definitions of adapted criteria for such selections. In this respect we used Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques to help industrials in this selection process. A case study is developed on the French textile recycling industry and a R&D collaborative project that introduces recyclable raw material from end of life vehicles and garments, for the development of a new product. An application of our research is conducted on a specific recycling collaborative project in order to discuss the initial results, and perspectives are highlighted for further research investigations
