Résumé :
The purpose of this joint Agricultural Research Service/Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) project was to determine the presence of aflatoxins in swine tissues in the United States during a drought year (1988). A worst-case sampling plan for aflatoxin from swine slaughtered in FSIS inspected plants was conducted during the drought. Swine tissues were screened for aflatoxins by high pressure liquid chromatography and confirmed by two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. Results indicate that swine effectively metabolize aflatoxins present in feed. Eight of 160 (5%) liver samples had confirmed aflatoxin, with only 4 of these 8 exceeding 0.1 ppb. Only 1 of 160 liver samples had total aflatoxin B1 and M1 in excess of the milk enforcement level of 0.5 ppb for M1 alone. In severe drought conditions, the presence of aflatoxins in animal feed does not result in a significant frequency or magnitude of tissue residues in swine even in worst-case type biased sampling. Since swine appear to be the most sensitive species insofar as tissue concentration of aflatoxins, it is logical to conclude that residues in other food-producing species would be significantly lower.

Résumé :
School meals for grade 1 to 4 pupils in Latvia are financed by the government, but with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, and following the remote learning process, there were problems related to the delivery of these meals for pupils. The current situation in Latvia has been exacerbated again due to the spread of the pandemic; there is a great necessity to find well-thought-out solutions to ensure school lunches outside the school. The aim of this study was to develop recommendation-based one-week food packs for grade 1 to 4 pupils, providing the necessary amount of nutrients and energy. Four food packs were designed to provide five-day lunch meals for pupils, preparing a warm lunch at home. Protein, fat, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugar, dietary fiber, sodium, salt and calcium content of meals were analyzed according to standard methods. During the project, the most appropriate solution for food packs was explored. The four designed food packs will provide support to municipalities, because the composition of food packs complies with the nutrition and energy value regulation and does not exceed the planned budget. Parents will receive the developed recipe book in addition to a one-week food pack.

Résumé :
In this study, the neurovascular coupling relationship was noninvasively studied in the human visual cortex. Graded neuronal/hemodynamic suppression conditions were generated using a paired-stimulus paradigm. Visual evoked potential was measured to quantify neuronal activity. Hemodynamic activities were measured and quantified by perfusion and blood oxygenation level-dependent changes. All quantification was normalized to the same activation condition induced by a single stimulus paradigm within each experimental session. This experiment design eliminated the confounding factors such as anesthesia and inconsistent neurovascular coupling patterns within and/or among tasks. The results reveal that (i) there is a tight neurovascular coupling at graded neuronal suppression conditions; (ii) the neurovascular coupling relationship contains a subtle, but significant, nonlinear component; and (iii) the linear model, nevertheless, is still a good approximation reflecting the neurovascular coupling relationship. This study extends the range of the neurovascular coupling relationship from graded neuronal excitation conditions to graded neuronal suppression conditions.

Résumé :
Mechanical load has been estimated during step exercise based on ground reaction force (GRF) obtained by force platforms. It is not yet accurately known whether these measures reflect foot contact forces once the latter depend on footwear and are potentially modified by the compliant properties of the step bench. The aim of the study was to compare maximal and mean plantar pressure (PP), and maximal GRF obtained by pressure insoles after performing seven movements both over two metal force platforms and over the step bench. Fifteen step-experienced females performed the movements at the cadences of 130 and 140 beats per minute. PP and GRF (estimated from PP) obtained for each floor condition were compared. Maximal PP ranged from 29.27 ± 9.94 to 47.07 ± 12.88 N/cm2 as for metal platforms, and from 28.20 ± 9.32 to 43.00 ± 13.80 N/cm2 as for the step bench. Mean PP ranged from 11.09 ± 1.62 to 14.32 ± 2.06 N/cm2 (platforms) and from 10.71 ± 1.54 to 14.22 ± 1.77 N/cm2 (step bench). GRF (normalized body weight) ranged from 1.43 ± 0.14 to 2.41 ± 0.24 BW (platforms) and from 1.38 ± 0.14 to 2.36 ± 0.19 BW (step bench). No significant statistical differences were obtained for most of the comparisons between the two conditions tested. The results suggest that metal force platform surfaces are suitable to assess mechanical load during this physical activity. The forces applied to the foot are similar to the softer step bench and the hard force platform surface. This may reflect the ability of the performers to adapt their movement patterns to normalize the impact forces in different floor conditions.

Résumé :
In recent decades, in addition to the traditional grain storage in dry conditions, the technology of grain storage without access of air - in hermetic conditions has gained a widespread in polymeric grain bags (silobags). The aim of the research was to study the regularities of the physiological processes of respiration in maize grain when stored in hermetic conditions, which would determine the terms of safe storage of different humidity grain in polymeric grain bags and reduce the costs of its processing and storage. The object of research is the technology and processes of freshly harvested corn grainstorage. As the main subject of the study, a dent-type hybrid of corn DKS 3705 was used, which, according to its botanical and agronomic properties, was better for use on food and non-food needs and for export. On the basis of the conducted researches it was established that with an increase in initial moisture of grain from 14% to21% and subsequent storage in hermetic conditions at constant temperatures the natural losses of dry matter of grain increase in comparison with losses of dry matter of grain with standardhumidity (14%), in particular, at a temperature of 18 ºС by 112%, at a temperature of 11 ºС by 296% and at a temperature of 4 ºС by 123%. Thus, it is shown that the decrease of the temperature regimes of grain storage of maize with different initial humidity under hermetic conditions contributes to the reduction of the intensity of thenatural physiological processes in it and, consequently, the natural losses of its dry matter. It has been established that during storage of corn grain for three months and reduction of temperature storage conditions from 18 ºС to 11 ºС in samples of grain with an initial humidity of 14% decrease: the absorption rate of oxygen by 34%, carbondioxide emissions, loss of dry matter and the production of thermal energy by 66%. For a grain with an initial humidity of 21%, the reduction in intensity under the same conditions is: for absorption of oxygen 22%, the production of carbon dioxide 28%, losses of dry matter 37% and the production of thermal energy 23%. Reducing the storage temperatures of corn from 11 ° C to 4 ° C in samples of grain with an initial humidity of 14% reduces the intensity: absorption of oxygen by 79%, carbon dioxide generation by 60%, dry matter loss by 60%, and the generation ofthermal energy by 60%. For grain with an initial moisture content of 21% under the same conditions, the intensity decreases: oxygen absorption by 28%, carbon dioxide generation by 77%, dry matter loss by 77%, and heat generation by 77%. Established regularities of the physiological processes in corn grain with different initial humidity when stored in hermetic conditions at different temperatures, it is possible to predict the characteristics of gas exchange processes in the grain mass, natural losses of dry matter and the generation of heat during storage of grain.

Résumé :
Today, humanity has faced a fundamentally new catastrophe - the Covid-19 pandemic. Quarantine, closing borders, creating numerous problems for almost all states - all these are the realities of today. Experts will still be able to fully assess the scale of the economic shock associated with the epidemic and all its long-term consequences. But it is already clear that the recovery of the global economy is not an easy one. And already tested anti-crisis measures will not always work. It is necessary to look for fundamentally new, non-standard solutions. The aim of the research is to analyze the state of trade against the background of the global world economic situation. Identify the shortcomings of the industry, development prospects and highlight the economic benefits that need to be addressed as a matter of priority in order to improve performance and improve the situation during a pandemic. The article examines the current state of the global economic situation in the maritime transport industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. The international market of maritime trade is based on certain patterns, among which there is a clear focus on the parameters of international economic relations, the constant use of innovative technologies and the cyclical changes in key indicators. The trend of development of the maritime transport industry and its regionalization is due to a complex set of external and internal factors. Therefore, the article considers the relationship and impact of both negative and positive factors on the state of the world economy. The data of the interim economic forecasts for 2019-2022 in the estimated comparison of countries that have a global impact on the economic development of partner countries are studied. The interrelation of economic and maritime industries is analyzed, the state of modern problems of sea transportation is investigated, perspective directions are revealed and the necessity of concrete decisions for large-scale development of competitiveness of the transport industry is emphasized. As a result of the research it is suggested: in order to automate the process of sea transportation to accelerate the introduction of contactless document management, to consolidate the position of maritime logistics, which plays an important organizational and cost-effective role in modern economic relations and trade flows.

Résumé :
The process of saturation of sucrose particles of pumpkin fruits is considered. An experimental setup for saturation of fruit particles with sugar under conditions of intensive pneumatic mixing was developed. The kinetic dependences of the saturation of candied fruits and changes in the concentration of sugar syrup under various temperatures were obtained. The saturation conditions are compared for various ratios of “candied fruit: syrup”. A mathematical generalization confirms the ratio “candied fruit: syrup” selected by the authors of the article. According to the chosen mathematical model, a generalization of the results of studies on the saturation of pumpkin fruit particles with sugar under the conditions of a change in time with concentration of both candied fruit and syrup was made.

Résumé :
Production performance analysis plays a significant role in supporting the decision-making process, for managers and engineers dealing with the challenges of the optimization procedure of a system delivery capacity. Operational conditions can influence the production performance of a system drastically, in a short or long term, by affecting the system configuration, reliability, maintainability, maintenance supportability, and functional capacity of its components. Moreover, these impacts can lead to increased business risks and uncertainties. Such a situation demands the successful application of tools and methodologies to minimize the total business risk through an accurate prediction of production performance, addressing the effects of operational conditions. However, there is a lack of practical methodologies, for production performance analysis of systems operating under the time-dependent operational conditions. Hence, the central thrust of this article is to develop a systematic methodology, for the production performance analysis of a system considering the time-dependent operational conditions. In the case study, the results show that the production performance of mining equipment is affected significantly by the operational conditions. These changes occur across the working shifts and due to any changes in the production plan of the mine. The result of the analyses shows that the critical items in the mine is the loader. Hence, in order to increase the production performance of the system, the optimization of the reliability or maintainability of the loader needs to be considered as a priority. Moreover, the wagon drill has a significant excess capacity, which means that, by adding more trucks to the system, the production performance of the system can be improved.

Résumé :
The physical model of Jiaogang Ship Lock is established. Through model test, the flow condition in lock chamber and approach channel is studied. The results indicate when the upstream water level keeps high and the water level difference between upstream and downstream is less than 0.5 meter, the main flow oscillates less during spring tide flux and reflux in the flood year. When the upper water level is 0.96 m and during spring tide flux and reflux in the flood year, the flow is from downstream to upstream and the flow is smooth. When the upper water level is greater than lower water level, the sluice gate hoist condition is tidal range less than 0.3m in tide flux and less than 0.4m in tide reflux. Under the critical water level conditions, the Jiaogang Ship Lock sluice gate can be hoisted safely.

Résumé :
Abstract.Transport of weaned pigs poses special challenges because of their size and thermal needs as well as the extended distances and transport times. The resultant economic impact can be substantial. Compared to transport of market pigs, weaned pigs generally encounter much farther travel distances with different adapting abilities to the environmental conditions. The objectives of this study were: 1) to characterize the environmental conditions within a typical transport trailer for weaned piglets to determine if current management practices and trailer design provides an acceptable environment as evidenced by mortality rates and environmental parameters, and 2) to analyze airflow patterns of the tranport trailer using a scale model in a wind tunnel. Data from 78 usable transport trips were collected for air temperature in each trailer compartment, ambient temperature, distance traveled, time traveled, stocking density, and mortality by compartment. The 78 trips had an average distance of 778 km (range of 264 to 1016 km), travel time of 8.51 h (range of 3.4 to 12.3 h), and mortality rate of 0.031% (range of 0 to 1.11%). There was no significant difference in mortality by compartment (p>0.05). The results indicate that if pigs are transported at a higher stocking density, the compartment temperatures would be similar during cold weather (e.g., 2°C). Under mild weather condition (e.g., 16°C), significant differences could exist in compartment temperature between part of the upper deck (Upper 1) and the lower deck (Lower 4) (p<0.05). In comparison, no significant differences were found at warm conditions (e.g., 29°C) (p>0.05). In addition to the weather influence, in-trailer environment is affected by the side openings which may be adjusted by the driver. Résumé :
Introduction: Water can support the growth of different microorganisms which may result in contamination. Therefore, the microbiological examination is required for testing the hygienic probity of water. In the study of microbial composition of untreated, natural spring and mineral water differences in the presence and number of bacteria during the two periods, winter and summer, are detectable. Methods: In our study, we analyzed and compared the following parameters, specified in the Rulebook: total bacteria and total aerobic bacteria (ml/22 and 37°C), total Coliform bacteria and Coliforms of fecalorigin (MPN/100ml), fecal streptococci as Streptococcus faecalis (MPN/100ml), Proteus spp (MPN/100ml), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MPN/100 ml) Sulphoreducing Clostridia (cfu / ml). The paper is a retrospective study in which we processed data related to the period of 2005-2009 year. While working, we used the descriptive-analytical comparative statistical treatment. Results: The obtained results show statistically significant differences in the microbial composition of untreated water in the two observed periods,Conclusions: Findings were consequence of different weather conditions in these periods, which imply a number of other variable factors.

Résumé :
Intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations can take membership degrees, non-membership degrees, and hesitancy degrees into account during decision making. It has good practicability and flexibility in dealing with fuzzy and uncertain information. As for analytic network process, it is performed by thinking over the interaction and feedback relationships between criteria and indices, so that an effective method is provided for multi-criteria decision making. An index system with network structure for evaluating the bonds is presented, and a comprehensive method by combining the advantages of intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations and analytic network process is proposed to select and rank the bonds. A case study is given by the proposed method as well.

Résumé :
A new mechanism for latex migration during coating consolidation was proposed, which suggested that Brownian motion induced particle diffusion, as described by the classic Stokes-Einistein Equation for dilute suspensions, was the main force driving latex particles to migrate to the coating surface. Series of latex clay coating colors were prepared and apllied on impervious substrate. By measuring carbon content at coating surface dried under different conditions, the new mechanism was validated.

Résumé :
Miniature (65-L) growth chambers, designed and tested to study environmental conditions affecting in vitro culture, provide an accurate and inexpensive method to perform multifactorial experiments under these conditions. Temperature control was achieved by an electronic device combined with a heating cable and a heat exchanger (water to air). Two-dimensional temperature variations in the chamber were within 1 °C of the set point temperature. Nine chambers were placed under photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) of 80, 125 and 250 μmol m−2 s−1 and CO2 concentrations of 330, 1650 and 3000 μL L−1. Gas concentrations in both the chambers and the test tubes with in vitro cultures were monitored and fresh weight accumulation of raspberry (Rubus idaeus), strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) and asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) cultures were recorded during a growth experiment. Carbon dioxide accumulation in the culture tubes during the night and subsequent depletion during the day indicated CO2 fixation enhancement with CO2 enrichment, which was more pronounced after 4 wk of growth. Fresh weight accumulated significantly under high CO2 enrichment. Temperatures during the day were slightly higher in the test tubes (1 ± 0.3 °C) than in the chamber.Key words: Light intensity, temperature, carbon dioxide, tissue culture

Résumé :
Viscous boundary, viscous spring boundary, infinite boundary have been widely used during the last decades to solve the wave propagation in the infinite ground. In this paper we evaluate the performance of the three boundary conditions focusing on their solution precision. The comparison is performed on a two dimensional finite element model built by ABAQUS. The results show that viscous spring boundary outperforms the other boundary conditions, and viscous boundary is better than infinite element.

Résumé :
Garlic puree turns green easily during the storage. And temperature is one of the greatest affects on degree of greening of garlic puree. The greening of garlic purees was evaluated by sensory analysis. It showed that 35°C was the best temperature to prevent garlic from greening. At the same storage time, different kinds of garlics were at different degree of greening. Organic garlic didn’t show absolutely advantage at preventing garlic from greening.
