Based on this modeling, the concept of Granger causality in terms of the time-variant Granger causality index and the time-variant partial directed coherence was realized to investigate directed information transfer between different brain

Forest roads are an important element in forest management as they provide infrastructure for different forest stakeholder groups. Over time, a variety of road assessment concepts for better planning were initiated. The monitoring of the surface cross-section profile of forest roads particularly offers the possibility to take early action in restoring a road segment and avoiding higher future costs. One vehicle-based monitoring system that relies on ultrasound sensors addresses this topic. With advantages in its dirt influence tolerance and high temporal resolution, but shortcomings in horizon

Job interviews are an important means for the selection of employees in Western industrialised countries. Thus, they may be decisive with regard to the future of the person seeking work, making the difference between successful social participation or marginalisation. After the German reunification, East Germans had to prove themselves in a communicative genre marked by West German standards hitherto unknown to them. The article analyses verbal sequences taken from job interviews between West German interviewers and East German job applicants in which genre specific knowledge is negotiated. It

Abstract Objective Patients that undergo medical transfer represent 1 patient population that remains infrequently studied due to challenges in aggregating data across multiple domains and sources that are necessary to capture the entire episode of patient care. To facilitate access to and secondary use of transport patient data, we developed the Transport Data Repository that combines data from 3 separate domains and many sources within our health system. The digital revolution affects every aspect of society and economy. In particular, the manufacturing industry faces a new age of production processes and connected collaboration. The underlying ideas and concepts, often also framed as a new “Internet of Things”, transfer IT technologies to the shop floor, entailing major challenges regarding the heterogeneity of the domain. On the other hand, web technologies have already proven their value in distributed settings. Abstract This paper reports work-to-date on a particular practical context, applying one approach to interlanguage, the discourse domains approach, merged with the rhetorical-grammatical approach, involving both language and content. The context is an MA course for teacher residents placed in urban schools, and their English language learners (ELLs) in math and science classes, providing content area teachers the linguistic support they need to teach the language of their content, and thus the content itself. We were interested in how exactly learners’ interlanguage creation interacts with the

Before the start of the project, the transfer process from external emergency rooms was completed by patient administration personnel and residents. This process had a median time to disposition decision of 40 minutes and led to missed opportunities for TAMC to care for military beneficiaries. Owing to a lack of universally implemented standards, there is wide variation in information transfer. We sought to characterize missing information at HHC admission. Materials and Methods We conducted a mixed methods study with 3 diverse HHC agencies. Focus groups with nurses at each agency identified what information supports patient care decisions at admission. In this paper, we deal with the possibility of using econophysics concepts in dynamic portfolio optimization. The main idea of the research is that combining different methodological aspects in portfolio selection can enhance portfolio performance over time. Using data on CESEE stock market indices, we model the dynamics of entropy transfers from one return series to others. In the second step, the results are utilized in simulating the portfolio strategies that take into account the previous results. AbstractIdentifying critical source areas (CSAs) of a watershed by phosphorus (P) loss assessment tools is essential for optimal placement of beneficial management practices (BMPs) to address diffuse P pollution. However, lack of significant progress in tackling diffuse P pollution could be, in part, associated with inefficacy of P loss assessment tools for accurately identifying CSAs. Phosphorus loss assessment tools have been developed to simulate P loss from the landscape where runoff is mainly driven by rainfall events. Therefore, they may underperform in cold climates where the land is of
