SUMMARY Yield performance, heritability and trait correlation were studied in 20 sunflower genotypes. Hybrid SF-100 produced the highest seed yield of 3669 kg ha-1 followed by NK-265 and Gloriasol with 3289 and 3264 kg ha-1, respectively. SUMMARY Seed germination of six sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrids was investigated across a range of eleven constant temperatures between 5°C and 45°C. Large temperature differences in germination rate 1/t (d-1), cardinal temperature (°C) and thermal time θ (°cd) were observed among hybrids. Experimentation was undertaken to study the effect of water stress on germination of seeds of three sunflower genotypes (Oro 9, Mirasol and Albena). SUMMARY This work was aimed to study, under different levels of radiation intercepted by the plants during the seed filling stage, the relationship between yield and vascularization in three concentric positions of the capitulum. At the end of flowering, we applied shading (to reduce intercepted radiation) and thinning (to increase it) to three culture plots: a shaded plot, a thinned plot and a shaded and thinned plot. Sunflower hybrids have been examined for their proximate composition, micronutrients, fatty acid profile and tocopherol content. Résumé :

Abstract Alpha amylase, catalyzing the hydrolysis of starch is a ubiquitous enzyme with tremendous industrial applications. A 1698 bp gene coding for 565 amino acid amylase was PCR amplified from Geobacillus thermodenitrificans DSM-465, cloned in pET21a (+) plasmid, expressed in BL21 (DE3) strain of E. coli and characterized. The recombinant enzyme exhibited molecular weight of 63 kDa, optimum pH 8, optimum temperature 70°C, and KM value of 157.7µM. On pilot scale, the purified enzyme efficiently removed up to 95% starch from the cotton fabric indicating its desizing ability at high temperatur
