Squamous metaplasia of the vesical triangle urothelium often accompanies chronic cystitis in women with dysuric simptoms. There is no generally accepted diagnosis and treatment of this condition. The etiological factor is unknown. Thus it is very important to determine the etiological factor in the development of dysuria in women with squamous metaplasia. 50 women with the signs of urothelial squamous metaplasia and persistent or recurrent dysuria for more than 6 months participated in our study. All patients underwent cystoscopy, biopsy was taken from the site suspicious for squamous metaplas

Urethritis, prostatitis, and epididymitis are a constellation of diseases often caused by infections; they can result in dysuria, pain, urethral discharge, and fever. Male dysuria can be the presenting complaint in patients with urethritis, prostatitis, epididymitis, or cystitis. Urethritis is most frequently caused by sexually transmitted infection, including Neisseria gonorrhea, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Trichomonas vaginalis. Haematuria is the presence of blood in the urine. Haematuria may be either macroscopic (frank haematuria) or detectable only on urine dipstick (microscopic haematuria). Frank haematuria can appear quite dramatic and usually leads patients in the community to seek medical attention. The high incidence of urinary tract infections as an underlying cause means that patients often have associated dysuria and frequency. Significant haematuria can lead to clot formation in the urinary tract and obstruction. The resulting symptoms are equivalent to those from obstruction due to stones. Microscopic hae

Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities (CINAC) has been increasingly recognized since the early 1990s. It has been called epidemic chronic kidney disease unknown cause (CKDu) in Sri Lanka, and meso-American nephropathy in Central America. CINAC occurs regionally in the Tropics, predominantly in rural/agricultural zones. It is increasingly recognized, but also believed to be increasing in incidence. Men are affected up to three times more often than women. Its incidence increases with age, and a number of other epidemiological factors impact on it. In some areas, such as the

Introduction: Infectious endocarditis of the tricuspid valve is a common complication of intravenous drug use. Endocarditis caused by viridans streptococci can lead to heart valve vegetations which may be life threatening due to the potential for embolism and obstruction. Management of large valvular vegetations is often difficult due to the risks involved with open heart surgery, especially in patients with comorbid conditions. Introduction: Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) is responsible for 15%-20% nongonococcal urethritis in men. In Argentina, the diagnosis is only performed by few laboratories. Recommendations include 5-day AZM (AZM5D) regimen, moxifloxacin as second-line therapy. Doxycycline is only 30% effective. Test of Cure (ToC) is advisable.
