Previous issue date: 2014-12-18<br>Esta investigación hace un estudio discursivo de la abreviatura etc. en comparación con el signo de puntuación los puntos suspensivos, por el bies de la lectura, de la interpretación y de la escritura. Con base en la línea teórica del Análisis del Discurso francesa, desarrollamos, inicialmente, una reflexión acerca de las nociones más relevantes para este trabajo. Luego, buscamos las concepciones lingüísticas de los objetos de análisis para, a partir de eso, pensar en un enfoque discursivo para los mismos. Hecha esta investigación teórica, aplicamos un texto verbo-visual que intentaba rellenar de sentidos el etc. y los puntos suspensivos. Por lo tanto, con base en el análisis de los textos producidos por los estudiantes que participan de esta investigación, realizamos los análisis en los cuales fue posible considerar que la mayoría de ellos leyó e interpretó el etc. y los puntos suspensivos de manera muy similar, lo que nos permitió percibir que, en el funcionamiento discursivo, el etc. y los puntos suspensivos producen sentidos que se no son iguales, son muy próximos, o sea, los gestos de interpretación, en los dos casos, son muy parecidos<br>A presente pesquisa efetua um estudo discursivo da abreviatura etc. comparada com o sinal de pontuação reticências, pelo viés da leitura, da interpretação e da escritura. Com base na linha teórica da Análise de Discurso de linha francesa, desenvolvemos, primeiramente, uma reflexão acerca das noções mais relevantes para este trabalho. Em seguida, buscamos as concepções linguísticas dos objetos de análise para, a partir disso, pensar em um enfoque discursivo para os mesmos. Feito esse levantamento teórico, partimos para a aplicação de um texto verbo-visual que visava ao preenchimento de sentidos para o etc. e para as reticências. Logo, com base nas análises dos textos produzidos pelos alunos participantes desta pesquisa, efetuamos as análises nas quais foi possível considerar que a maioria deles leu e interpretou o etc. e as reticências de maneira muito semelhante, permitindo-nos escrever que, no funcionamento do discurso, o etc. e as reticências produzem sentidos se não igual, muito próximos, ou seja, os gestos de interpretação, nos dois casos, são muito parecidos

Dans l'oeuvre contemporaine d'Alessandro Baricco, des références de toutes sortes attirent l'attention de ceux et celles qui s'intéressent aux récits et romans de l'écrivain italien. De cette esthétique néo-baroque, c'est la rencontre avec d'autres formes d'art qui nous a ici interpelée. Autant sur le plan formel que thématique, les références à la musique, à la peinture et au cinéma, entre autres, offrent de remarquables exemples d'intermédialité. Cette diversité de disciplines convoquées dans le texte de Châteaux de la colère (1995), Soie (1997), Océan mer (1998), City (2001) et Novecento : pianiste (1997), constitue l'originalité forte de l'oeuvre de Baricco. Ces formes artistiques produisent une ambiance qui plonge le lecteur dans le domaine de l'art et accorde à l'auteur la possibilité de déployer avec une grande maîtrise de moyens et d'effets son style unique. Les renvois intermédiatiques relevant principalement des personnages soutiennent les propos de Baricco au sujet de l'art : ils permettent d'établir l'importance qu'accorde ce dernier au métalangage artistique et à la création sous toutes ses formes. Par là, il devient possible de mieux comprendre sa propre oeuvre littéraire qui valorise, au détriment de la prétention réaliste, une fantaisie ludique qui relève du spectaculaire. Le premier chapitre présente les procédés formels au service de la musicalité dans l'écriture de Baricco et les personnages de musiciens - ou en lien avec la musique - qui évoquent cette forme artistique privilégiée. Dans le deuxième chapitre, il est question des moyens techniques qui permettent aux textes de Baricco de rappeler l'art pictural ainsi que des personnages qui, par le truchement de la peinture, tiennent un discours sur la création artistique. Dans le troisième et dernier chapitre, nous nous intéressons à la structure romanesque qui, par diverses stratégies formelles, imite le scénario. Les personnages qui renvoient à l'art dramatique sont aussi abordés, de façon à tenir compte de la vision artistique qu'ils mettent en place. Enfin, la conclusion nous permet, à la lumière des informations recueillies, de relever les effets entrainés i.e. [entraînés] par ces jeux intermédiatiques. Celle-ci est aussi pour nous l'occasion de dégager, en son caractère unitaire, la vision artistique à l'oeuvre chez Baricco.

Who am I ?
Who are WE ?

Looking at the individual, the collective and place, one starts to uncover what defines humanity at its core. It is not the spectacle or fleeting moments of grandeur. It is the ordinary, the banal, and the mundane actions one performs on a daily basis that starts to define identity. This is the everydayness that defines one's existence. The rituals that one performs starts to define the way one uses space, but the space that is constructed, inversely defines the rituals performed. Humanity is in a constant exchange between oneself and the space one occupies.
This dissertation investigates the ideas of the everyday and how it can manifest in architecture by building onto the existing rather than imposing preconceived notions of identity and space. The project investigates the concept of the everyday and its manifestation in the existing structures found in Marabastad. Marabastad is located on the north-west quadrant of Pretoria, and its rich and diverse heritage plays a vital role in shaping the way users occupy space within its boundaries.
Our personal identities are not objects, they are not things; our identities are dynamic processes that build upon the core of an inherited cultural tradition. The sense of self can only arise from the context of culture and its historicity. Genetic mutation is the ultimate source of new phenotypic variation in populations. The importance of mutation cannot be understated, and constitutes a significant evolutionary force. Although single mutations may have little to no impact on organismal performance or fitness, when multiplied across the total number of potential sites within the genome, mutation can have a large impact. Accurate measurement of the rates, molecular mechanisms, and distributions of effects of mutations are critical for many applications of evolutionary theory. Despite the importance of both deleterious and beneficial mutations, their genome-wide patterns and phenotypic consequences are poorly understood when considering the mitochondrial genome. Mitochondria are organelles that are essential for eukaryotic life. They contain their own genome and generate bioenergy (ATP) necessary to sustain life via the electron transport chain (ETC). Because of their role in eukaryotic physiology, understanding how mitochondrial genetic and phenotypic variation can impact populations and evolutionary outcomes is essential. Past studies have implicated DNA-damaging oxidative stress as a source of mutations within somatic tissue, but there is a gap in knowledge regarding its role in heritable damage within the germ line. In this thesis, I aimed to test this possibility by characterizing the phenotypic and mutational consequences of high intracellular ROS levels caused by mitochondrial ETC genetic damage. I performed experiments using Caenorhabditis elegans ETC mutant, gas-1, and mutation-accumulation (MA) lines generated from this ancestral genotype. I quantified organismal fitness (fecundity and longevity), reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential (delta psi m), and ATP levels in these lines, and compared the results to those from a set of wildtype control lines. I begin with a general introduction to the hypothesis and the C. elegans system in Chapter I. In Chapter II, I report the findings from this work. In short, I found that while gas-1 MA lines began the experiment with low lifetime fecundity in comparison to the wildtype strain, their fecundity showed no further decline as expected, and even exhibited higher fecundity levels on days 3-5 of reproduction relative to the gas-1 progenitor. The gas-1 progenitor exhibited higher rates of ROS compared to wildtype, whereas the MA lines reverted back to wildtype levels; a similar pattern was observed for delta psi m, while ATP levels were low in the gas-1 progenitor and remained low in the MA lines. I interpret these findings in light of high-throughput sequencing results from these lines showing that, while nuclear and mitochondrial DNA mutation rates were equal to wildtype in these lines, the genomic pattern of mutation was highly nonrandom and indicative of selection for beneficial or compensatory sequence changes. Because ROS levels declined to wildtype in the evolved (MA), this study was unable to address whether ROS is a major contributor to heritable mutation in this system. I hypothesize that, in addition to their putatively compensatory genetic changes, gas-1 lineages experienced physiological compensation allowing them to survive, and that this was associated with a "slow living" phenotype. In Chapter III, I summarize general conclusions and implications of this study and end by providing suggestions for further study.

Contemporary transnational literature presents a unique interpretive problem, due to new methods of language and culture negotiation in the information age. The resulting condition, transnational compositionality, is evidenced by specific linguistic artifacts; to illustrate this I use three American novels as a case study: Nowhere Man by Aleksandar Hemon, Absurdistan by Gary Shteyngart, and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz. By extension, many conventional literary elements are changed in the transnational since modernity: satire is no longer a lampooning of cultures but a questioning of the methods by which humans blend cultures together; similarly, complex symbolic constructions may no longer be taken at face value, for they now communicate more about cultural identity processes than static ideologies. If scholars are to achieve adequate interpretations of these elements, we must consider the global framework that has so intimately shaped them in the twenty-first century.

Previous issue date: 2015-09-22<br>This research investigates, based on modern social dynamics, the construction of the concept of Technological Design Interactive Rio Etc blog, in order to broaden the conceptions of design as an image it projects, communicates and can be constantly reinterpreted through a perspective interdisciplinary, seeking to recognize design as design, purpose and intent, then, is beyond its instrumentality and representation of human action through a pencil and a sheet of paper. Among the goals, I try to identify through the web interface analysis, while visual image, as shown blog design Rio Etc by proposing a street fashion concept on the Internet. I seek to do so, to express how is the formation of a Technology Interactive Design; attentive to fashion's image as a mediating element between man and culture in the digital environment and point out the street-style as contemporary phenomenon in tribalisation of subjects inserted in the group that plans and produces photographic images to the blog (main content of posts Rio Etc) and portrays the street fashion as a lifestyle, and spread this idea over the internet through the blog tool. Based on this, the Comprehensive Sociology appears to support, in the Interdisciplinary methodology, the unfolding of man as a social being who participates in the cyberculture as a producer designs and puts them at the disposal of Internet users. In this qualitative research, we present an overview of images collected in Rio Etc blog over two years of research, focused on illustrative presentation of archived records in the blog since 2007 (rise of the Rio electronic diary), incorporating the text images that best could set the observed phenomena. I emphasize that the concept of street-style produced by Rio Etc does not include the capital in its territorial and economic diversity, but rather part of a cutout on the street fashion that moves specifically for the south of the city.<br>A pesquisa investiga, com base na din?mica social moderna, a constru??o do conceito de Desenho Tecnol?gico Interativo do blog Rio Etc, com a finalidade de ampliar as concep??es acerca do desenho enquanto imagem que transmite, comunica e pode ser constantemente ressignificado por meio de uma perspectiva Interdisciplinar, buscando reconhecer o desenho como projeto, prop?sito e intento, logo, est? para al?m da sua instrumentalidade e representa??o da a??o humana atrav?s de um l?pis e uma folha de papel. Nesta pesquisa qualitativa, apresento um apanhado de imagens coletadas no blog Rio Etc ao longo de dois anos de pesquisa, centrada na apresenta??o ilustrativa de registros arquivados no blog desde o ano de 2007 (surgimento do di?rio eletr?nico carioca), incorporando ao texto imagens que melhor pudessem configurar os fen?menos observados. This master thesis is based on few questions: it is wondered if African region, and especially Sub-Saharan one, is a profitable market and how to enter it.
A general overview of the continent is presented, according to macro-economic, geopolitical and social factors, focusing also on market frameworks and future trends of the region.
In a second step, the focus moves towards the actual business and commercial situation between Italy and African continent: Italian import and export linked to African region and Italian relationships with the African continent have been analyzed, giving a snapshot on the actual Italia-Africa axes.
Thirdly, countries belonging to this area have been analyzed and ranked, discovering the most economically attractive ones. Countries have been analyzed through some key indicators, trying to collect the most important macroeconomic, socio-cultural, political and financial aspects.
Finally, in the second part of the dissertation, the ‘how’ to approach this market is analyzed, through the case of an Italian specialized financial institution playing in this field: ETC Invest S.p.A. The story of its ‘entrepreneurship and finance’ business case is briefly presented, in which the entrepreneurial vision of the founders is carried out today with a larger institutional mission: to develop new profitable industrial projects in Africa, in order to build a virtual bridge to connect Europe and African continent.
A practical business case of support, managed by the group ETC, is analyzed through the analysis of a real business plan and the ‘after sales’ monitoring of the interested company. ETC’s business model is presented and questioned if it is sustainable, profitable and replicable in the future also for other business cases.

Previous issue date: 1995-10-05T00:00:00Z<br>This study identifies and analyzes the detenninants of labor .remmuneration (salaries and wages; fees, commissions and pecuniary gains) within state companies linked to federal or state govemments and also between these two groups, besides comparing them with private companies, as a prerequisite for testing the hypothesis that differences in work remmuneration of identical jobs originate from culturally developed company administrative behavior. The thesis follows a multidisciplinary theoretical approach not yet used with this purpose, involving the Theory of Labor Market Segmentation, the Theory of the Internal Labor Market and the Theory of Human Resources Organization, applying the instruments of analysis available in Labor Economics and in Human Resources Management.<br>Este estudo identifica e analisa determinantes quantitativos e qualitativos das remunerações do trabalho (salários e ordenados; gratificações e vantagens pecuniárias) intra-empresas estatais vinculadas às esferas dos governos federal e estadual, e entre estes dois grupos, além de compará-las com as empresas do setor privado, da economia, como pré-requisito para testar a hipótese de que os diferenciais dos ganhos do trabalho de cargos idênticos originam-se de padrões de comportamento administrativo-empresarial culturalmente adquiridos. Aucune étude systématique dans le domaine de la linguistique française n’a porté spécifiquement sur le morphème etc. Nous proposons de cerner les enjeux de cet objet linguistique et littéraire problématique, en diachronie puis en synchronie. Notre travail s’ouvre sur les questions de l’origine et la morphosyntaxe de etc. En effet, l’histoire de la langue permet d’observer le processus de figement partiel de la séquence « coordonnant + adjectif substantivé » et dans un même temps, de distinguer deux grands types d’emplois du morphème. Ces deux types d’emplois établissent un critère de classement pertinent pour toute étude synchronique portant sur la question du etc. De fait, si l’emploi de etc. correspond toujours à une pratique de l’interruption, il intervient soit à la fin d’une énumération, soit entre deux segments textuels. Cette partition nécessite deux niveaux d’analyse, le premier syntaxique, le second lié aux enjeux énonciatifs du texte.Nous avons donc appliqué ce principe de classement aux 350 occurrences de etc. appartenant à un corpus de six textes stendhaliens : De l’Amour, Racine et Shakespeare, Promenades dans Rome, Le Rouge et le Noir, Lucien Leuwen, Vie de Henry Brulard. Le cœur de notre travail se présente à la fois comme un classement de la totalité des occurrences du morphème et comme une analyse des enjeux d’occurrences choisies, à l’échelle phrastique ou textuelle. Une telle étude permet d’aborder un certain nombre de problématiques touchant à la l’utilisation du morphème etc. : effets d’ellipses et d’échos, enjeux des réduplications du morphème, jeux sur l’implicite, logiques référentielles mises en place par l’auteur, portée des ruptures énonciatives et conséquences sur la lecture. Révélateur d’une écriture qui donne à voir autant qu’elle laisse deviner, le etc. participe de la logique moqueuse, « cryptique » et conversationnelle des textes Stendhaliens<br>No systematic study in the field of French linguistics has specifically focused on the morpheme etc. The purpose of this work is to analyse the linguistic and literary issues of this problematic object, first in diachrony and then in synchrony. Our study begins with the question of the origin and of the morphosyntax of etc. Through the history of the language we can observe the partial fossilisation of the sequence ‘coordinating conjunction + nominalised adjective’; we can also identify two main types of use of the morpheme. These two types establish a relevant criterion for the classification of any synchronic study on the issue of etc. If the use of etc. always corresponds to a practice of interruption, it can either take place at the end of an enumeration or in between two segments of text. This partition requires two levels of analysis, a syntactic one and one related to the enunciative issues of the text.We applied this ranking principle to 350 occurrences of etc. belonging to a compilation of six Stendhalian texts: De l’Amour, Racine et Shakespeare, Promenades dans Rome, Le Rouge et le Noir, Lucien Leuwen, Vie de Henry Brulard. The core of our work consists in both establishing the typology of the occurrences of this morpheme as well as the analysis of issues prompted by selected occurrences, on a phrasal or textual level.This study addresses a number of issues relating to the use the morpheme etc.: effects of ellipses and echoes, issues of reduplication of the morpheme, effects of the implicit, referential logics set up by the author, scope of the enunciative ruptures and their effects on the reader. Finally we intend to show that etc. is a beating ‘puncteme’ (acting as a modulating ‘punctuation mark’) whose rhythmical and stylistic impact is systematically exploited by Stendhal. Etc. is an essential part of the mocking, ‘cryptic’ and conversational logic of the works of Stendhal, revealing a writing which lets the reader see as much as it lets him guess

Purpose: The purpose of this work is with the help of a case study object called “ETC apartment houses”, make a comparison of possible energy related savings that can be achieved by building apartment buildings far better than the requirements set in BBR. The idea is that this should give a clear picture for entrepreneurs and property managers to promote energy-efficient building in the society. Method: In the study, three building categories were looked at to make a significant comparison of how energy use varies between different buildings. What has been compared are the requirements in BBR and ETC´s apartment houses, which is an ongoing case study object that is being built according to FEBY Gold's criteria. Finally, this has been compared to Mimer Bostads AB´s “Mesanseglet” which a reference object that has been built according to the requirements in Miljöbyggnad silver. Data has been collected from authorities, public documents and through personal communication with a contact person at the company that runs the case study object. Results: The results show that the differences between the three categories are large, for both climate impact and energy costs for building electricity. It is possible to reduce the values by almost 80 percent, a comparison of the requirements in BBR with ETC´s apartment houses show. In a comparison with the reference object, the reduction has been presented at between 30 and 40 percent. A major reason why the case study object achieves this figure is due to the use of solar panels, which, after its estimated payback time of about 10 years, manages to fill large parts of the building's energy needs at a low cost. Conclusions: The work shows that large savings can be achieved without the need for building costs necessarily being higher. It is also important to point out that the focus for energy efficient building should be low energy consumption and not high local energy production. In order to achieve what is required, a certification can in some cases work as motivation for the contractor by adding increased value, although it might be considered unnecessary for the case study object as the company that builds the houses will also own them.

Previous issue date: 2016<br>Retomando a teoria crítica da sociedade, da escola de Frankfurt, através da figura de Walter Benjamin, a presente dissertação propõe explorar o capitalismo e o direito sob um novo olhar, benjaminiano, com intuito de indicar a serventia, para a atualidade, do convite ao engajamento político do filósofo berlinense contido em sua concepção de história. O capitalismo, afirma o filósofo, é uma religião. O direito, uma forma de controle violento da vida por parte do Estado, que monopoliza a violência. A história deve ser revista e contada, sobretudo, do ponto de vista dos vencidos. A ação política, de caráter romântico e revolucionário, é um chamado de Benjamin para a interrupção de um fluxo histórico contínuo que leva à catástrofe. <br><br>Abstract : This thesis explores capitalism and Law from a new Benjaminian perspective by retaking the critical theory of society through the school of Frankfurt. The objective is to identify how the invitation to political engagement of the Berlin philosopher currently serves to his concept of history. According to the philosopher, capitalism is a religion. Law is a violent form of control by the government over life that monopolizes violence. History should be reviewed and told particularly by the victors. Political action that is romantic and revolutionary, is a call by Benjamin to interrupt this continuous historical flow that leads to catastrophe.

L'espace urbain son architecture lui procurent-ils un sentiment de plaisir et d'admiration. C'est ce que nous allons essayer de decouvrir dans ce travail. Ainsi, a paris, bruxelles et liege, nous avons interroge un grand nombre de personnes au sein d'espaces urbains, d'une part et sur la base de montages photographiques, d'autre part. Nous pourrons discerner les exemples urbains qui plaisent davantage et connaitre les raisons profondes qui amenent les gens a formuler tel ou tel jugement. As long as we do not use their language, all theories on town aesthetics will remain dead letter. Therefore, in this dissertation, we will suggest concrete measures that are directly applicable. Aesthetics is wath which gives a sense of pleasure and admiration. We know the opinion of the specialists, but we do not know the feelings of the man in the street. Do the urban territory and its architecture give him a sense of pleasure and admiration? that is what we will try to find out in this dissertation. Therefore, we interviewed a large number of people who live in the town centres of paris, brussels and liege on the one hand and we based ourselves on composite photographs on the other hand. We will be able to distinguish the urban examples that please the most and to know the deeper reasons which lead people to pronounce their particular judgement. Furthermore, for each example, we will compare the results of the surveys and the measurements of the different concrete elements. Los estadíos avanzados de cáncer de ovario (COA) cursan con carcinomatosis peritoneal (CP), su adecuada cuantificación permite decidir el abordaje terapéutico. El Índice de Carcinomatosis Peritoneal (ICP) es útil como sistema de cuantificación y factor pronóstico. TCMD es una herramienta recomendable en la selección de pacientes, su principal limitación es subestimar la carga tumoral. Objetivo: Evaluar el desempeño diagnóstico de la Enterografía por TC (ETC), como técnica optimizada, en la cuantificación de enfermedad peritoneal secundaria a COA en pacientes sometidos a cirugía citorreductora y compararla con la TC Convencional (TCC). Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, se recopilaron los ICP radiológicos, quirúrgicos e histológicos de un total de 61 pacientes, 40 estudiadas mediante ETC y el resto mediante TCC; se compararon los ICP radiológicos con los patrones de referencia, tanto quirúrgicos como histológicos. Resultados: Buena correlación entre el ICP radiológico e ICP quirúrgico, muy buena correlación entre el ICP ETC y el ICP AP. Mayor sensibilidad y detección de afectación por la ETC comparado con la TCC.<br>The advanced stages of ovarian cancer (COA) present with peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC), its adequate quantification allows to decide the therapeutic approach. The Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Index (PCI) is useful as a quantification and prognostic factor. TCMD is a recommended tool in patient selection, its main limitation is to underestimate tumor burden. Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of the enterography CT technique as an optimized technique in the quantification of peritoneal disease secondary to COA in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective study was carried out. The radiological, surgical and histological PCIs were collected from a total of 61 patients, 40 of whom were studied with CTE and the rest with TC; radiological PCIs were compared with reference standards, both surgical and histological. Results: Good correlation between radiological ICP and surgical PCI, very good correlation between PCI ETC and ICP AP. Greater sensitivity and detection of affectation by the ETC compared to the CBT.

...Non décidément, il est toujours, et peut-être plus que jamais, utile de défendre un point de vue dont l'affirmation d'évidence, à l'instar d'un monument, nuirait à la visibilité. On a vite fait de vous enfermer dans une nuit anthropologique où tous les chats sont gris. Ce travail, contre lequel je n'ai cessé de pester jusqu'à ce que j'en mette le point final au motif qu'il était artificiel et ronflant et m'empêchait d'occuper le congé de recherche que m'a octroyé mon université à faire ce dont notre métier d'enseignant-chercheur-agent administratif nous prive de plus en plus : lire, est donc l'occasion de l'affirmer en racontant comment j'ai construit ma singularité, à la conjonction de plusieurs déplacements : vers la sociologie, vers la politique du patrimoine, vers une recherche - action, impliquée, attachée, etc., c'est à voir - participant à la performation de la réalité, vers le pragmatisme. En voici une première formulation en trois temps : un, loin de tout désarroi ou de toute dénonciation, prenons au sérieux les phénomènes d'objectivation de la culture autant que ceux, stigmatisés, d'une présence dite proliférante des objets du passé dans le présent. Deux, à faire une anthropologie de l'institution de la culture - au second degré ! -, et plus largement du passé-présent - les usages du passé -, on ne peut guère éluder leur dimension éthico-politique au risque de passer complètement à côté du phénomène. L'anthropologue - ou le socio-anthropologue - est certes un peu mieux placé que l'historien pour observer ces pratiques mais alors il peut aller plus loin que de coutume en se plaçant au plus près des personnes et en considérant leur propre réflexivité dans leur activité - leur " enquête " - et l'attachement qu'elles construisent dans l'action : cela suppose qu'il rabatte sa prétention à leur dire la vérité sur ce qu'ils font. Trois, de la réflexivité de l'acteur à la réflexivité du chercheur, et retour : l'occasion est belle pour l'anthropologue d'interroger son propre désir et comment ce désir instruit le topos de la différence culturelle. Et puisque amateurs et anthropologues partagent un même objet - la culture, le passé-présent -, pourquoi ne se rencontreraient-ils pas sur une même scène pour considérer leurs capacités à en dire quelque chose ? L'acte de la recherche en sciences sociales ne doit-il pas se déployer dans cet espace de coopération, en naître et s'y nourrir ?

The thesis offers a post hoc account of three pieces of research relating to women's adult education which were camed out by the author over a penod of about fifteen years. In the process the thesis engages with a number of themes and issues in and around feminist theory and practite and adult education theory and practice. Radical traditions in adult education - particularly femimst-inspired traditions - are examined as spaces for the democratic production of "really useful knowledge". Changing meanings of feminist research and radical adult education are explored, as is the relationship between abstract knowledge and everyday knowledge. Developments in feminist epistemology are drawn on and related to a social justice agenda for adult education Through a critique of my own practice. I suggest that feminists and adult educators are well-placed to pursue a democratising project geared to including previously excluded groups in the production of legitimated knowledge. The thesis argues that we need to develop an understanding of our practices which combines historical, contextual understandings with an appreciation of what changed social and cultural conditions mean for the pursuit of any democratic knowledge-producing project.

Depuis quelques années, les « collectifs d’architectes » occupent une part non négligeable de l’espace médiatique. Savons-nous même qui sont-ils et ce qu’ils font ? Telles sont les deux principales questions aux quelles nous avons ici tenté de répondre. Une recherche se fondant sur des opportunités, la mienne a été d’être co-fondateur en 2009 de l’un de ces groupes, le Collectif Etc. J’en suis depuis l’un de ses principaux animateurs, et toute cette recherche a alors pris appui sur ce groupe. Une première partie nous a permis de mettre en évidence un réseau de praticiens français que nous qualifions de « collectifs d’architectes », groupes formés majoritairement d’architectes, dont l’objectif est de favoriser l’implication citoyenne dans les processus de transformation de la ville dans le but de créer des situations autogérées. Leurs modalités d’intervention correspondent à la réunion de la pratique de la résidence, de l’usage de l’auto-construction et de la production d’architectures éphémères.Dans une seconde partie, nous avons pu formuler l’hypothèse que ces groupes développeraient un modèle original de pratique du projet, reposant sur la construction de trois matrices, que nous avons appelées mythogénique, constructive, et politique. Pour chacune d’elles, une recherche historico-théorique nous a permis d’en former des définitions caractérisant une pratique matricielle du projet favorisant l’implication citoyenne. Et si ce modèle a été construit sur la base de la pratique de ces groupes particuliers, nous pensons qu’il pourrait se révéler pertinent à l’ensemble des praticiens souhaitant impliquer divers acteurs dans les processus de fabrique de la ville<br>In recent years, "architects’ collectives" have occupied a significant part of the media space. Do we even know who they are and what they do? These are the two main questions to which we have tried to answer. A research is based on opportunities, mine was to be the co-founder in 2009 of one of these groups, Collectif Etc. I have been one of his main fanimators, and all this research has been based on this group. The first part enabled us to highlight a network of practitioners that we call "architects’ collective ", groups formed mainly by architects, whose goal is to promote citizen involvement in the processes of transformation of the cities, in order to create self-managed situations. Their methods of intervention correspond to the combination of the practice of residence, the use of self-construction and the production of ephemeral architectures. In a second part, we were able to formulate the hypothesis that these groups developed an original model of project practice, based on the construction of three matrices, which we called mythogenic, constructive, and political. For each of them, a historico-theoretical research has enabled us to form more complete definitions, characterizing a matrix practice of the project, favoring the involvement of the citizen. And if this model was built from the practice of these particular groups, we believe that it might be relevant to all practitioners wishing to involve various actors in the city's making processes

The rental market in Stockholm is clearly out of function. For an apartment in the city the queue is of several years, and the rent level is far from in comparison with the market demand. The incentives to build rental apartments are almost none. The profitability level of rental housing is not enough compared to building owner-occupied housing. Therefore, in the lack of rental housing and the big excess demand that exists on rental housing, the black market is booming this type of accommodation and people have to pay large amounts to obtain rental housing. The market simulation presented in this thesis is to show us what the rent levels would become in Stockholm if we deregulated the rental housing market in the long run, in the short run, or with subsidies from the state. This will give us an idea of how the rental market could develop in the future, and what consequences it would imply for tenants and landlords. As a basis for this analysis, the demand elasticity is studied. This is based on how demand is affected by changes in disposable income and a rent increase. The demand elasticity is then compared with rental markets similar to Stockholm. The aim of this thesis is to show, with three simulations, how the housing market would react to a deregulation in this case where housing demand exceeds the supply. Also presented in this thesis is what the rent would be if the deregulations where made today. The final results in these simulations are similar to each other and all three indicates an increase of 65-70 percent. This is followed up by stagnation with a rent increase of two percent per year. The difference in these three simulations is how the final percentage is reached, and how they affect the housing demand. Our target is to create pathways and incentives to build and maintain rental units, to stabilize the rental market and most important, to emphasize the human rights to housing.<br>Hyresmarknaden i Stockholm fungerar inte som den ska. Kötiden för hyresrätter i staden uppgår till åtskilliga år och hyresnivåerna är långt ifrån proportionerliga mot marknadens efterfrågan. Incitamenten till att bygga hyresrätter i dagsläget är nästintill obefintliga, främst på grund av att avkastningsnivån gentemot bostadsrätter inte är nog. Bristen på hyresrätter och det stora efterfrågeöverskottet gör att den svarta marknaden fortsätter att växa. Marknadssimuleringarna som presenteras i detta kandidatarbete visar oss vad som skulle hända med hyresnivåerna i Stockholm vid fri hyressättning. Vi går djupare in på tre scenarion. En kortsiktig avreglering som visar ett tänkbart utfall om hyran släpps fri idag och anpassas till marknadshyra på två till tre år. En långsiktig avreglering som sträcker sig över en sexårsperiod och slutligen en avreglering med statlig subvention. Som en grund för dessa analyser har efterfrågeelasticiteten studerats. Denna elasticitet bygger på hur efterfrågan påverkas av förändringar i disponibel inkomst, hyresökningar, befolkningsökningar och förändringar i utbudet på hyresmarknaden. Resultatet av detta jämförs med hyresmarknader som liknar Stockholms. Målet med kandidatarbetet är att med tre simuleringar visa hur hyresmarknaden i det högt efterfrågade Stockholms stad skulle reagera på en avreglering. De slutliga resultaten i simuleringarna liknar varandra och ökningen hamnar på cirka 65-70 procent. Sedan sker en stagnering i samtliga fall och hyran får en konstant ökning på två procent per år. Det som skiljer simuleringarna åt är vägen till denna hyresökning, och hur de påverkar efterfrågan på hyresmarknaden. Vår önskan är att skapa vägar och incitament till ett upprätthållande och nyskapande av hyreserätter, att stabilisera hyresmarknaden och att underlätta boendesituationen för Stockholms framtida och nuvarande invånare.

The effectiveness of modifying a conventional toll plaza for implementation of an open road tolling concept with express ETC lanes was evaluated in this thesis. Speed controlled dedicated ETC lanes were replaced with express ETC lanes at the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) University Mainline Toll Plaza. This evaluation was accomplished by utilizing collected field data and simulated scenarios using Toll Plaza SIMulation (TPSIM) software developed by the University of Central Florida. The speed controlled dedicated ETC lanes were located within toll lanes (contained within a toll plaza canopy) with widths ranging between 10 to 14 ft. These types of lanes required all vehicles to reduce their speed from the highway speed to 35 mph. Express ETC lanes (sometimes referenced as open road tolling or non-stop tolling) allow vehicles to pass through the plaza at high speeds. Open road tolling is a concept that employs high speed toll lanes. A before and after study of the University toll plaza was conducted. Benefits in the form of reduced delays and increased capacities were observed when making the comparison between the before and after studies. Since we expect the capacity of an express ETC lane to be greater than the dedicated ETC lanes (due to an increase in free-flow speed), further analysis using equations and car-following theory proved that if the ETC speed was increased, then the capacity would increase as well. Using equations derived from the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and car-following theory, the capacity was increased from 2016 to 2314 vph when the ETC speed increased from 31 mph to 65 mph. This indicated an increase in capacity of 14.8 percent (based on the conversion from dedicated to express ETC lanes). The field data was also used as input for TPSIM (a computer simulation model) in order to perform a sensitivity analysis of the express ETC lanes by varying the type of ETC lane, number of approach lanes, and plaza configurations (the addition of an ACM lane) between scenarios. Results that were observed during the after study were verified using the TPSIM scenarios. Reductions in delays for the entire plaza were observed using the TPSIM model when making similar improvements to the plaza as in the after study. The changes made to the University Mainline Toll Plaza after construction was completed resulted in benefits by reducing delays and increasing the capacity of the toll plaza (by converting dedicated ETC lanes to express ETC lanes and adding an additional A/ETC lane per direction). These benefits were measured using field data and confirmed when performing the TPSIM scenarios. A customer's travel time along the toll facility will be reduced by using the express ETC lanes (since they are not required to decelerate at the toll plaza). In addition, weaving maneuvers downstream of the plaza are no longer required by customers using the express ETC lanes due to the location of the downstream travel lanes in relation to the express ETC lanes. These benefits may have led to changes in the number and percentage of ETC users in each of the toll lanes. Changes in ETC usage in the conventional mixed-use lanes directly impacted the throughput and delays for each of these lanes, since ETC equipped vehicles have a service time of zero seconds. In addition to the operational benefits, other possible benefits for express ETC lanes were identified and recommended for further evaluation and research. Previous issue date: 2007<br>The search for quality is a constant value in corporate environments. With this aim, software development organizations utilize metrics to measure quality of their products, processes and services. These metrics should be collected, consolidated and stored in a single central repository typically implemented as a Data Warehouse (DW). The definition of extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of metrics that will be stored in DW, considering the software development environment (heterogeneity of sources, of process models, of project classes and of level of isolation) is no trivial task. This paper presents a data warehousing environment called SPDW+ as a solution to the automation of the ETL metrics process. This solution introduces a comprehensive and streamlined analytical model for the analysis and monitoring of metrics, and is built on a service-oriented approach that utilizes the Web Services technology (WS). Moreover, SPDW+ addresses the low-intrusion incremental load and the high frequency and low latency present in metrics collection. The main components of SPDW+ are specified, implemented and tested. The advantages of SPDW+ are: (i) flexibility and adaptation to meet the requirements of the constant changes in business environments; (ii) support to monitoring, which allows the run of frequent and incremental loads; (iii) the capacity to make less burdensome the complex, time-consuming task of capturing metrics; (iv) freedom of choice regarding management models and the support tools used in projects; and (v) cohesion and consistency of the information contained in the metrics repository needed to compare the data of different projects.<br>A busca pela qualidade é uma constante nos ambientes corporativos. Para tanto, as operações de desenvolvimento de software utilizam métricas para mensurar a qualidade dos seus produtos, processos e serviços. As mesmas devem ser coletadas, consolidadas e armazenadas em um repositório central único, tipicamente implementado na forma de Data Warehouse (DW). A definição do processo de extração, transformação e carga (ETC) das métricas a serem armazenadas nesse repositório, considerando as características do ambiente de desenvolvimento de software (heterogeneidade de fontes, de modelos de processos, de tipos de projetos e de níveis de isolamento) não é uma tarefa trivial. Este trabalho apresenta um ambiente de data warehousing denominado SPDW+, como solução para a automatização do processo de ETC das métricas. Esta solução contém um modelo analítico abrangente e elegante, para análise e monitoração de métricas, e é baseada em uma abordagem orientada a serviços, aliada à tecnologia de Web Services (WS). Além disso, o SPDW+ trata a carga incremental com baixo nível de intrusão, e alta freqüência e baixa latência na coleta das métricas. Os principais componentes da solução são especificados, implementados e testados. Os benefícios desta solução são: i) ser flexível e adaptável para atender às constantes modificações do ambiente do negócio; ii) oferecer suporte à monitoração, permitindo a realização de cargas freqüentes e incrementais; iii) ser capaz de desonerar os projetos da tarefa, laboriosa e complexa, de captura das métricas; iv) manter a liberdade de escolha dos projetos, quanto aos modelos de gestão e às ferramentas de apoio empregadas; e v) possibilitar que as informações contidas no repositório de métricas estejam coesas e consistentes, para que os dados de diferentes projetos sejam comparáveis entre si.

Esta dissertação trata de um estudo sobre as ações dos sujeitos para a constituição da coletividade em um Ambiente Virtual de Escrita Coletiva. Como recurso foi utilizado o Editor de Texto Coletivo - o ETC, desenvolvido pelo NUTED (Núcleo de Tecnologia Digital da Faculdade de Educação, da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS) que serviu de base para a coleta e análise dos dados. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) de disciplinas da área de informática na educação. Como fundamentação teórica utilizou-se a Epistemologia Genética de Jean Piaget que serviu como referencial para o desenvolvimento deste estudo. Para tanto, a coleta de dados foi realizada através de entrevistas semiestruturadas individuais e em grupo, buscando a fala do aluno. Também foram realizadas observações no ETC e analisadas a escrita e a ação dos sujeitos, no decorrer do processo de trabalho. Os resultados de tais observações foram capturados nos registros dos textos, comentários e no histórico do editor. Além disso, foi utilizado como complemento o Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem ROODA, através de extratos retirados das ferramentas fórum, diário, bate-papos e webfólio. As conclusões indicam um mapeamento das ações dos sujeitos para a constituição da coletividade na Web, a partir do conhecimento e da organização do grupo apoiada na identificação dos conflitos sócio-cognitivos, coordenação de ações/idéias e a construção de uma escala comum de valores entre os participantes. Entretanto foi necessário criar estratégias pedagógicas de utilização do ETC que propiciassem a interação entre os participantes, bem como verificar quais ferramentas potencializam a constituição da coletividade na Web.<br>This dissertation deals with the subject’s actions to derive a collective writing virtual environment. The Editor de Texto Coletivo [Collective Text Editor, ETC] was used as main resource – ETC, developed by NUTED (Núcleo de Tecnologia Digital da Faculdade de Educação, da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS) [Digital Technology Nucleolus of the School of Education of UFRGS [Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul] was used to collect and analyze data. Subjects were undergraduate and graduate students of the schools of Information Technology and Education. The background theory employed in this study is the Genetic Epistemology by Jean Piaget. Data were collected by structured and semi-structured interviews in order to get the student´s speech. ETC was also used to analyze the subjects’ writings and actions during the workshop. Results of these observations were stored from the texts, comments, and the editor’s records. Also ROODA [Virtual Learning Environment] was used as a tool for the forum summaries, chats, and the web foils. Conclusions indicate a mapping of the subjects’ actions to build a web community starting with the knowledge the group’s organization, its socio-cognitive conflicts, the group’s actions and ideas, as well as the group building of a common values scale. However, the use of pedagogical tools and the use of ETC were key allow the participant’s interaction and to detect the tools that enhance web community establishment.

A presente Dissertação tem por objetivo compreender como o Editor de Texto Coletivo (ETC) pode contribuir para que alunos da educação profissional desenvolvam a competência para o trabalho em equipe. O estudo se desenvolveu sobre uma base composta de três eixos: trabalho, educação profissional e tecnologias de informação e comunicação. O foco do primeiro eixo está nas questões relacionadas às equipes de trabalho. Já o segundo eixo dá destaque às competências profissionais e aos saberes. O terceiro eixo se debruça sobre o ETC, uma tecnologia groupware, que pode dar apoio ao trabalho de um grupo de sujeitos. A pesquisa é desenvolvida numa abordagem qualitativa a partir da estratégia de pesquisa estudo de casos múltiplos. Com o fim de coletar dados, se realizou um Curso de Extensão na modalidade semipresencial. As fontes de pesquisa utilizadas foram: entrevista semi-estruturada; grupo focal e a observação das ações e registros dos alunos no Editor. A análise mostra que a ferramenta Fórum ofereceu condições aos sujeitos de construir saberes de conteúdo intelectual. O Sistema de Co-autoria, por oportunizar o trabalho em equipe, permitiu que os sujeitos construíssem saberes práticos, os quais puderam ser articulados e relacionados com os teóricos. Com relação à transposição desses saberes para situações reais de trabalho, o estudo aponta duas alternativas: uma em que não é possível a transposição de saberes, e outra em que essa transposição é possível, mas o saber transposto não é colocado em ação. O estudo conclui que, para mobilizar uma competência para o trabalho em equipe na situação em que ela é requerida, é preciso construir, gerar saberes específicos dessa situação, os quais não podem ser nem previstos nem prescritos em um contexto escolar. Portanto, ainda que o ETC ofereça aos sujeitos um espaço em que seja possível a construção de saberes, existem fatores que podem impedir a mobilização desses saberes em outro contexto. Da mesma forma, ainda que haja intencionalidade por parte dos professores de possibilitar aos alunos o desenvolvimento da competência para o trabalho em equipe, existem fatores que influenciarão na mobilização dessa competência em uma situação real de trabalho. Espera-se que essa pesquisa possa contribuir com as discussões acerca do desenvolvimento da competência profissional em contexto escolar e, deste modo, também contribuir para que os alunos da educação profissional possam ter um ensino de qualidade, que forme o ser humano em sua integralidade.<br>The objective of this dissertation is to understand how the Collective Text Editor (ETC) can contribute to allowing students of professional development to develop the competence to work in a team. The study was developed with a base composed of three axes: work, professional development and information and communication technologies. The first axis focuses on questions related to working groups. The second axis highlights professional competences and knowledge. The third axis addresses the ETC, a groupware technology, which can give support to the work of a group of subjects. The study is developed through a qualitative approach based on the research strategy of multiple case studies. With the aim of collecting data, an Extension Course was held in the semi-distance mode. The research sources used were: semi-structured interviews, focus groups and the observation of the actions and records of students in the Editor. The analysis shows that the Fórum tool allows the subject to build theoretical knowledge. The System of co-authorship, used to facilitate teamwork, allowed the subjects to build practical knowledge, which could be articulated and related to the theoretical knowledge. With regards to the implementation of this knowledge to real work situations, the study suggests two alternatives: one in which the implementation is not possible and another in which this implementation is possible, but where the implemented knowledge is not put into action. The study concludes that, to employ a teamwork competence in a situation in which it is required, it is necessary to generate and build specific knowledge of this situation, which can not be prescribed or provided in a school context. Therefore, even if the ETC offers the subjects a space in which it is possible to build knowledge, there are factors that may impede the employment of this knowledge in another context. Likewise, although there is intent on the part of teachers to enable students to develop the competence of working in a team, factors exist which influence the use of this competence in a real work situation. It is hoped that this dissertation can contribute to discussions surrounding the development of professional competences in the school context and thereby also contribute to enabling students of professional development to have a quality education, which develops the individual as a whole.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the climate impact of building materials used in the pilot project “Klimatpositiva hyreshus av trä i Västerås” by ETC Bygg. The purpose also included studying the demands on building materials when it comes to climate impact as well as the challenges of building with more climate friendly materials. Method: This study is based on a literature study and case study of the building materials used in the pilot project “Klimatpositiva hyreshus av trä i Västerås”. Results: By using the climate-enhanced concrete instead of conventional concrete in the building foundation, the climate impact is reduced by 45%. If the storage of carbon in wood is taken into account, the wooden based materials used in the buildings are considered the most climate friendly. Also, when carbon storage is not taken into account, the wooden frame of cross-laminated timber used in studied buildings results in lower climate impact than conventional concrete. In most cases even better than climate enhanced concrete. The wooden fibre insulation used has one of the lowest climate impact, together with cellulose, when the carbon storage is considered. Data of its impact, without carbon storage, is missing. Literature shows that insulation of cellulose from recycled material, like the one used in the studied buildings, has among the lowest climate impact, whether the storage of carbon is included or not. However, data of the specific cellulose used in the buildings is missing. The results also show that there is possible to make more climate friendly options within a group of materials. In the studied project there has been no greater challenges when using selected materials. Currently there are no demands considering greenhouse gas emissions from building materials. Although, there is regulation in the law which aims at a sustainable development and there is national environmental goals and goals for the building sector to lower the climate impact. Conclusions: By using climate enhanced concrete in the foundation and wood as frame material and insulation, the studied buildings have reduced their climate impact in comparison to usage of more conventional building materials during the product stage. Some major challenges with used materials in the studied buildings do not appear to have existed, which differs from what is described in the literature, where several challenges are mentioned. By using building materials with lower climate impact, it can be considered a way to work towards the goals and regulations considering sustainable development.

Previous issue date: 2014-08-27<br>CAPEs<br>A presente pesquisa investiga como se desenvolve o processo de construção dramatúrgica em videodanças, tendo como objeto de análise a videodança Maxixe, da Cia. Etc. A pesquisa está inserida no Mestrado Acadêmico em Artes Visuais das Universidades Federais de Pernambuco e da Paraíba (UFPE/UFPB) e configura-se como aprofundamento de uma pesquisa histórica sobre a produção de videodanças em Recife, realizada no Acervo RecorDança. Durante o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, interessou-me estudar como o processo criativo, as instâncias dramatúrgicas e as circunstâncias de produção da obra contribuíram para a construção da dramaturgia nessa videodança. Essas instâncias a que me refiro estão divididas em: proposições corporais, textura espacial, figurino, sonorização, filmagem e edição. Para isso, desenvolvo um estudo de caso, utilizando como fundamentação teórica, principalmente, bibliografias que contemplam o campo da videodança, da dramaturgia e dos processos criativos. Nesse estudo, considero como dramaturgia o conjunto de elementos de uma criação, incluindo tanto às escolhas estéticas quanto às ideológicas, que contribui para a coerência dramatúrgica da obra (HERCOLES, 2005; PAVIS, 1999). E ressalto que cada um desses elementos estudados possui potencialmente uma parcela contributiva na construção dos nexos de sentido da videodança. A escolha de uma obra da Cia. Etc. dá-se por ser esta uma companhia atuante na cidade do Recife, que, além de produzir espetáculos e outros produtos artísticos, possui uma ação sistemática de estudo e produção de videodanças, configurando-se como única companhia de dança profissional que mantém tal prática na cidade. Dessa forma, me propus a fazer entrevistas com integrantes e ex-integrantes da companhia, a fim de realizar coleta e cruzamento de dados. Assim, considerando aspectos do processo criativo e dos resultados estéticos, foi possível entender as peculiaridades da forma como a dramaturgia é construída especificamente em Maxixe.<br>La presente pesquisa investiga cómo se desarrolla el proceso de construcción dramatúrgica en videodanzas, teniendo como objeto de análisis la videodanza Maxixe, de la Cia. La elección de una obra de la Cia Etc. es por esta ser una compañía actuante en la ciudad de Recife, que, además de producir espectáculos y otros productos artísticos, tiene una acción sistemática de estudio y producción de videodanzas, configurándose como única compañía de danza profesional que mantiene tal práctica en la ciudad. De esa forma, hice entrevistas con integrantes y ex-integrantes de la compañía, para realizar la colecta y el cruzamiento de los datos. Así, considerando aspectos del proceso creativo y de los resultados estéticos, fue posible entender las peculiaridades de como la dramaturgia es construida específicamente en el Maxixe.

Today Namibia is at the crossroads of its independence. The agony of death and destruction that the Namibians have endured for the past 105 years of colonial oppression is about to come to an end and freedom is in sight. The process of transition to independence has already started. On 1 November 1989, the Namibian people will exercise their long-denied right to self-determination by electing their own leaders who. by virtue of being elected by the masses will have the sovereign right to draft the constitution of independent Namibia. This will bring about a new political and socio-economic order. The task before the Namibian people is to seize this historic opportunity and ensure that they join hands to safeguard the revolutionary gains we have made in bringing our country to the threshold of independence. Seizing this opportunity means, first, to register as a voter, and second, to vote and send to the Constituent Assembly men. and women with a revolutionary will, honourable record, vision for a better future, integrity, experience and proven ability to fight for the interests of the broad masses of the Namibian people. Such men and women are to be found in SWAPO. SWAPO has stood tall in the face of formidable odds over the last twenty-nine years of its struggle to free Namibia. Because of this fact. SWAPO had participated in the formulation of Resolution 435 and fought bravely for the last 11 years for its implementation. The motivating force behind this struggle has always been to guarantee that power is given to the Namibian people to decide the future of our country' through free and fair elections. Now that Resolution 435 is being implemented, the Central Committee of SWAPO has the honour to place before the people of Namibia its concrete programme of action in the form of SWAPO’s policy positions on a broad spectrum of political, economic, social and cultural issues.
