The main purpose of this study is to highlight the way in which Spain has functioned since its accession to the European Union in 1986 in the field of culture. After completing the process of transition to democracy, and having fully recognized the importance of culture, Spain began to be active and to participate with success in most European cultural programs. The interest between Spain and the European Union has been mutual from the beginning. Spain was interested in promoting Spanish culture in Europe and the European Union in highlighting the cultural diversity that characterized Spain. N

Since 2014 relations between the European Union and Russia have been severely affected by the sanctions policy that has been detrimental to both sides. However, Spain has not been able to stand aside from this policy. Nevertheless, Spain, maintaining a common position on sanctions against Russia out of solidarity and because of its obligations to European partners, has tried to develop bilateral relations with the Russian Federation in a positive way. With the expansion of the European Union there have been concerns over increasing competition for FDI attraction between member states. This study will examine to what extent, if to any extent at all, the admission of the Central and Eastern countries to the EU has raised completion for FDI in Spain. Spain and the CEECs will be compared in terms of advantages in FDI attraction. Ultimately, evidence and analysis will suggest that given current trend, there is no serious threat to diverting foreign assets from Spain to the CEECs.

Résumé :
The energy transition to decarbonisation involves new investments in electricity grids to integrate renewables, electric vehicle charging, and active consumer engagement. However, while worldwide investment in renewables has almost doubled since 2010, investment in grids has remained stable at USD 300 billion per year, becoming a bottleneck for the transition. Considering this and the existing entrepreneurship in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (ACBC) around electricity grids, this report aims to present the value of electricity grids by applying the Orkestra competitiveness fra

Résumé :
Public procurement accounts for a significant proportion of overall demand for goods and services. Thus, it could be a useful tool for fostering innovation and economic growth. While interest in the use of public procurement as industrial policy is not new, its potential to spur demand for innovative products and services, create incentives for business innovation, and accelerate the diffusion of new technologies has received much policy attention in recent years. The aim of this study is to advance knowledge on the role of public procurement as a demand-side policy instrument in stimulating f

Résumé :
This paper examines the welfare effects of the unilateral trade preferences scheme of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) for United Kingdom (UK)–India trade on households in India. The design of unilateral trade preference schemes has been linked to significant uncertainty about preferential market access. And the removal of trade preferences requires adjustments raising trade costs with corresponding effects for workers in sectors reliant on exports in beneficiary countries. I investigate India’s sectoral graduations from the European Union (EU) GSP in 2014 and 2017 that were applica

Résumé :
Remittances, the portion of migrant workers' earnings sent back home to their families, have been a critical means of financial support for generations. But, for the most part, these flows have historically been -hidden in plain view-, often uncounted and even ignored. All that is now changing -as the scale of migration increases, the corresponding growth in remittances is gaining widespread attention. This report has been elaborated based on a study commissioned by IFAD to the Inter-American Dialogue in collaboration with the Multilateral Investment Fund of the IDB and contributions from the
