Résumé :
The distribution of the Fishing Cat Prionailurus viverrinus (Carnivora: Felidae) in Myanmar remains poorly known owing to a paucity of verifiable field records. We here present two recent photographic records that confirm the occurrence of the Fishing Cat in the Ayeyarwady Delta of southern Myanmar. Our photographic records together with other reports and the availability of suitable wetland habitat suggest that the Ayeyarwady Delta is globally important for Fishing Cat conservation. Deforestation, driven largely by agriculture, however, is of concern for the future survival of the Fishing Cat

The fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a protected animal. Currently, the population in nature is declining due to over-fishing and changes in environmental quality. The existence of this fishing cat is an interesting finding that must be immediately studied at the morphological and genetic levels for certainty of its species. This study aimed to identify fishing cat from Wonorejo Mangroves, based on morphology and Cyt b genes analysis. The results of Cyt b identification obtained a DNA sequence length of 398 bp with a similarity value of the five Prionailurus sp. samples between 96.75 t

Mangrove forest is one of the productive ecosystems that provide essential habitats for various fauna as breeding and feeding drives. However, heavy metal pollution in the mangrove forest has led to severe health problems for several aquatic species. Biomonitoring of metals using a nondestructive method is an emerging technique. Scats of the fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) were collected from five locations in the Godavari estuary mangrove habitats, Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh, India, to determine the level of various metals. The Fishing Cat Prionailurus viverrinus is known to occur in the Terai region since at least the late 1920s. In spring and winter 2016, we obtained 30 notionally independent events of the Fishing Cat in the floodplain of Shuklaphanta National Park at elevations of 181–221 m. There is more to the human activity of fishing than just catching fish. These are not the words of unlucky fishers. It is also not coincidental that this pursuit of the elusive is more than fishing for fish. If fishing did not pose all the challenges of being in pursuit of the elusive, it would not be fishing, nor would it serve as a metaphor for life. And whilst the thesis is inspired by the purest notion of fishing for fish, the existential quest to which the more entails, is inescapable. Abstract Fishing operations are complex and time-consuming. This is due to the associated uncertainty with the orientation and condition of the tool that requires fishing. Fishing usually is needed when least expected and brings a sudden halt to operations, especially if the downhole tools become stuck. Résumé :
In recent years, the fishery population in Japanese fishing ports has halved with a decline of the fishery industry, and the use of fishing port facilities has also been declining. Because of this, there is a demand for effective use of existing fishing ports, which have thus far served only for the primary industry, and there is a transition in their use to higher order industries, indicating a change in the social value of fishing ports. In this study, the social value for realizing the higher order use of fishing port space was analyzed based on the locations of the port, the value of the l

The management of fishing fleets is an important factor in the sustainable exploitation of marine organisms for human consumption. Therefore, regulatory services monitor catches and limit them based on data. In this paper, we analyze North Atlantic Fishing Organization (NAFO) data on North Atlantic catches to direct the effectiveness of fishing stakeholders. Data on fishing time (month and year), equipment, location, type of catch, and, for us, the most interesting, data on the fishing effort are given, and their quality is analyzed. Fishing rod vibration sensors represent an innovative tool in the realm of angling technology, designed to revolutionize the fishing experience [1]. These sensors leverage piezoelectric technology to detect subtle vibrations in the fishing rod, alerting anglers to fish bites in realtime. This abstract explores the key features and applications of these sensors. These sensors are adept at distinguishing between external disturbances and genuine fish bites, reducing the likelihood of false alarms [2]. Their sensitivity and detection range can be calibrated, optimizing their performance for diver

Abstract Pelagic fishing is one of the primary economic activities in the Arctic, especially in the Barents Sea region. Optimizing fishing vessel voyage planning is a feasible avenue for enhancing efficiency, profitability, and sustainability while mitigating accidental risks posed by adverse weather conditions and reducing environmental impact through decreased fuel consumption. Currently, fishing voyage planning and route optimization rely heavily on the accumulated experience of skippers. Thus, it is a challenging task for inexperienced skippers. As fishing gear consists mainly of netting and rope, and lacks a definite geometry of its own, external forces acting on the netting and other rigging determine its geometry. The underwater geometries and loads of most fishing gear cannot be grasped in detail. However, the versatile simulation technique that we have developed for fishing gear allows us to understand the physical properties of dynamic fishing gear underwater. This will allow companies to design optimal fishing gear, based on scientific research and avoiding empirical procedures. In addition, it will allow fishermen to evaluate

Abstract As conventional fishing assembly offers a degree of recovery chance, such chance can be increased by utilizing an Oscillating Fishing Tool (OFT). The OFT is a fishing Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) component that delivers low-magnitude; high-frequency oscillation. The continuous motion that the tool provides complements the impact generated by the fishing jar. This paper reviews the successful case history in Field X, which was in fact the first utilization of OFT for a fishing application in the field. From the point of view of mechanics, trawls are considered as extremely flexible and partly extensible rope and net structures which are exposed to flow. Form and loads of such gears mainly depend on the corresponding velocity of inflow and also on the so-called rigging elements that are required for the horizontal and vertical spreading of the fishing gear. At the same time the fishing gear is acting on the surrounding fluid. These reactions can on the one hand lead to unsteady states in the fishing gear. On the other hand changes of pressure and velocity can be detected by the fish and can p

Herons and egrets commonly cause damage at aquaculture facilities and recreational fishing waters where fish are held at high densities. Fish-eating birds also can have an impact on intensively managed sport fisheries. Damage occurs when herons and egrets feed on fish purchased and released for recreational sport fishing activities. Values of these fish can be quite high given the intensity of management activities and the direct relationship of fishery quality to property value. The policy responses to these problems reflect the challenge of the issue that needs to involve numerous communities and states in the U.S. and Canada. Only the first night of fishing over all years has hence been included in the analysis in this report. The EU Commission recently committed to protect 30% of European waters by 2030 through the updated Biodiversity Strategy. Importantly, one third of these 30% should be of strict protection. The sector needs more effective management to strengthen economic opportunities – revenue collected from it should be reinvested into fisheries to build its institutions.
