Résumé :
The use of plastics is resisted worldwide. Therefore, finding alternatives to plastic packaging products is an urgent issue. This work was dedicated to the preparation of biodegradable composited films with potato starch, glycerol, and gelatin. The formulation of the biodegradable film was first optimized via response surface methodology combined with the multi-index comprehensive evaluation method that considered physical properties (thickness, water solution (WS), tensile strength (TS) and elongation at break (E%)) and barrier property (light transmittance (T%)). Results indicated that the o

Résumé :
Abstract In this study we have prepared flexible gelatin/sericin/clay blend films for packaging applications of hygiene products. Gelatin/sericin (3:1, 1:1 and 1:3 w/w ratios) films were prepared using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent and glycerol as a plasticizer by the solution casting method. The concentrations of gelatin and sericin were optimized on the basis of their mechanical properties. Closite 30B and copper-modified montmorillonite clay (with concentration of 1–5%) were incorporated into the optimized gelatin/sericin blend films in order to improve the mechanical and antimicro

Résumé :
The effect of glycerol content on the physical properties of gelatin-based edible films was studied in this work, on the basis of the interactions between the plasticizer and polymeric matrix. In this work, some non-usual techniques were used to characterize edible films. For dielectric measurements and infrared spectroscopy, these films were conditioned in silica gel in order to minimize the water effect. For other analysis, the films were conditioned in NaBr. Infrared spectroscopy showed no apparent changes in the position peaks, suggesting an absence of new interactions between the plastici

The formulation and evaluation of herbal rectal suppositories containing flaxseed extract is an Innovative approach in the development of natural and effective therapeutic systems. Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum) is widely known for its pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and laxative effects, attributed to its high content of Lignans, omega-3 fatty acids, and mucilage. This study aimed to develop a rectal delivery System utilizing flaxseed extract to address conditions such as constipation, inflammation, And local discomfort in the rectal region. In order to p

Résumé :
Biopolymer-based films are a promising alternative for the food packaging industry, in which petrochemical-based polymers like low-density polyethylene (LDPE) are commanding attention because of their high pollution levels. In this research, a biopolymer-based film made of chitosan (CS), gelatin (GEL), and glycerol (GLY) was designed. A Response Surface Methodology (RSM) analysis was performed to determine the chitosan, gelatin, and glycerol content that improved the mechanical properties selected as response variables (thickness, tensile strength (TS), and elongation at break (EAB). Résumé :
In the manufacture of ophthalmic medicinal films, special attention should be paid to the choice of a film-forming substance, since both the shape of the future film and its medicinal properties as a whole depend on it. This article provides a laboratory analysis with a comparative assessment of the optimal concentrations of two film-forming substances, polyvinyl alcohol and gelatin. Most of the presented film formers have a number of disadvantages, such as thickness, insufficient strength and elasticity, heterogeneity, formation of cracks and creases. Due to the negative environmental impacts of synthetic plastics, the development of biodegradable plastics for both industrial and commercial applications is essential today. Researchers have developed various starch-based composites for different applications. The present work investigates the corn and rice starch-based bioplastics for packaging applications. Various samples of bioplastics are produced, with different compositions of corn and rice starch, glycerol, citric acid, and gelatin. The tensile properties were improved after adding rice starch. Chewable gel tablets are a dosed pharmaceutical form, which can have an active substance, pharmacological effect, or value of nutrition. The texture of these tablets is soft, springy, flexible, and elastic—this is influenced by the chosen ingredients. The aim of this study was to prepare chewable gel tablets with nutmeg essential oil-loaded microcapsules and determine the volatile compounds released from this pharmaceutical form.
