While exploring the leaf litter fungal diversity in Doi Inthanon National Park, Northern Thailand, we discovered a previously unknown lineage within Niessliaceae. Muciflexus inthanonensis gen. et sp. nov. is therefore introduced to accommodate this new lineage. The link between the sexual and asexual morphs of Ochronectria thailandica is also established, while the generic description of Ochronectria is updated. A polyphasic approach was employed, consisting of multi-locus phylogenetic analysis using ITS, LSU, rpb2, and tef1-α along with the morphological evi

Résumé :
The validity of reclassifying filamentous, ascomycetous anamorphs solely on the basis of ribosomal DNA sequences is examined. We suggest that emotional reactions to the debate are a consequence of often unacknowledged philosophical biases. From the perspective of the scientific method, neither morphological nor sequence-based taxonomic studies are inherently superior. A review of published information on the internal transcribed spacer of filamentous Ascomycetes and ascomycetous anamorphs demonstrates that uniform species concepts based on DNA sequences alone are presently infeasible. Amphisphaeriaceous taxa (fungi) are saprobes on decaying wood in terrestrial, mangrove, and freshwater habitats. The generic boundaries of the family have traditionally been based on morphology, and the delimitation of genera has always been challenging. Amphisphaeria species have clypeate ascomata and 1-septate ascospores and a coelomycetous asexual morph. Lepteutypa is different from Amphisphaeria in having eutypoid stromata and more than 1-septate ascospores. These main characters have been used for segregation of Lepteutypa from Amphisphaeria for a long time. However, the above characters

Pleosporales is the largest order of Dothideomycetes. In recent years, systematics of Pleosporales have undergone considerable revisions. Dictyosporiaceae is one of the newly established families within this order proposed to accommodate holomorphic saprobic Dothideomycetes. Currently 18 genera are recognised in Dictyosporiaceae. The new species, Jalapriya aquaticum sp. nov. and J. apicalivaginatum sp. nov. were collected from freshwater habitats in Gansu and Yunnan Provinces, China, respectively and are introduced, based on morphology and molecular analysis of combined ITS, LSU,

The Chaetosphaeriaceae are a diverse group of pigmented, predominantly phialidic hyphomycetes comprised of several holomorphic genera including Chaetosphaeria, the most prominent genus of the family. Although the morphology of the teleomorphs of the majority of Chaetosphaeria is rather uniform, their associated anamorphs primarily exhibit the variability and evolutionary change observed in the genus. An exception from the morphological monotony among Chaetosphaeria species is a group characterised by scolecosporous, hyaline to light pink, multiseptate, asymmetrical ascospores and a unique thre

Résumé :
The genus Trichoderma (fungi) is a very large group of microorganisms that play a significant role in the environment. This is omnipresent in the climate, particularly in soils. Trichoderma species could be easily isolated from the soil by all traditional methods available because of their rapid growth and abundant conidiation. These are used both as biofungicides for biological plant protection as well as for bioremediation. In addition, the genus Trichoderma includes edible and medicinal mushrooms but also human pathogens. Members of the Trichoderma genus are often used primarily in the proc
