If those who formulate visions of the future are prevented from thinking freely because of a reduced capacity to imagine a different world, then there is a risk that they only advocate limited changes. Some feminist researchers in political theory and philosophy, such as Wendy Brown (2003, 2008, 2015) and Johanna Oksala (2011, 2013), claim that this has affected feminist movements. They believe that hope for a different future has been weakened among today’s feminists and that this development can be explained by the spread of the neoliberal discourse. In this article, I discuss theories on how the neoliberal discourse has affected feminist movements and relate such theories to the lived experiences of contemporary feminist engagement. The latter is based on an interview study with seven Swedish feminists engaged in different feminist organizations. The analysis indicates that the neoliberal discourse could have affected how utopias are used and what inspires hope among contemporary feminists. The result of the study also indicates that feelings of hopelessness can be useful in feminist work.

Résumé :

Background: Most of the studies on hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HOPP) in India and abroad had described secondary causes as the origin of the disease. We had observed a series of HOPP cases clustered within 40 kilometers around Bankura, a district town of West Bengal, Eastern India. The aim of our study was to probe into the clinical, biochemical and electrophysiological details of the cases, which were found to be idiopathic. Material and Methods: 32 idiopathic HOPP cases, attending the neurology OPD or admitted in Bankura Sammilani Medical College & Hospital (BSMCH), were selected from October 2006 to May 2008. All the secondary causes of HOPP were excluded. The patients were evaluated and the data was analyzed. Results: Cases were clustered within a 40-kilometer radius from Bankura town, location of BSMCH. Male: female = 4.3:1. Median age of onset was 23.5 years (4-50 years). Median number of attacks was 2.5, (1 to 70); duration 3 hours - 6 days, median 3 days. Strenous physical activity was most common precipitating factor. 25% had bulbar symptoms, 9.4% had bladder dysfunction and 46.9% had diminished to absent deep tendon reflexes. Mean serum potassium = 2.45 mEq/L (1.4 – 3.1 mEq/L). Conclusion: We had observed a group of idiopathic HOPP cases within a relatively small area in a short span of time in contrast to most other Indian studies, where the share of idiopathic aetiology is comparatively smaller. Människor är i behov av hopp under helalivstiden och ett liv utan hopp kan ses sommeningslöst. Hopp är ett mångdimensionellt,komplext begrepp som förändras över tiden ochblir särskilt märkbart vid sjukdom. Syftet var attbelysa upplevelsen av hopp hos patienter. Studiengenomfördes som en litteraturstudie där resultatetutgjordes av elva vetenskapliga artiklar. Känslorsom oro, rädsla kunde bli märkbara vid sjukdomoch känslor av hopplöshet dominerade. Hoppetansågs vara framåtdrivande och gav motivationatt kämpa vidare. Anhörigas stöd var viktigt föratt känna värde och stödet inifrån varbetydelsefullt för att finna hoppet.Sjuksköterskans inbringade hopp genom närvaro,aktivt lyssnande och uppmuntrande handlingar.Hopp var något som fanns inom varje patient ochupplevdes på liknande sätt oberoende avsjukdom. Det är av stor betydelse att belysa hoppi sjuksköterskeutbildningen, metoder för attinbringa hopp bör utvecklas och användas iklinisk verksamhet.

Detta är en studie om hur det är att studera på Högskolan i Halmstad när man har någon form av funktionsnedsättning. Vi har i denna studie tittat på hur deras funktionsnedsättning har påverkat deras liv allt ifrån när de fick sina diagnoser tills det att de började studera. Vi har även velat få fram hur deras funktionsnedsättning har påverkat deras studier i den bemärkelse att dem har fått stöd och olika hjälpmedel för att klara av dessa. I denna studie så har vi också tagit reda på hur mycket tid och energi som studenterna får lägga ner på sitt skolarbete, men också hur allt detta har påverkat deras sociala tillvaro i och utanför skolan. Vi har även försökt ta fasta på vad studenterna upplever som problematiskt under sin studietid, och tittat på om deras funktionsnedsättning varit en orsakande faktor i detta.

Bakgrund: Patienter som vårdas palliativt behöver hopp för att klara av att leva den tid de har kvar. Sjuksköterskans omvårdnad av patienter som vårdas palliativt är förbundet med patienters upplevelse av hopp. I svensk kontext har det sedan 1998 inte publicerats någon studie som visar resultat angående hur sjuksköterskor gör för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt.Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande studie var att belysa hur sjuksköterskor i Sverige förmedlar hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt.Metod: En kvalitativ empirisk induktiv studie genomfördes. Åtta sjuksköterskor som arbetade på palliativ vårdavdelning eller Avancerad Sjukvård i Hemmet-enheter (ASIH) intervjuades. Intervjuerna analyserades med inspiration av Graneheim & Lundmans kvalitativa innehållsanalys (2004). Resultat: Studien visar att sjuksköterskorna omriktar hoppet, tillåter det otroliga hoppet, bygger relationer, samtalar, hjälper praktiskt, symtomhanterar medicinskt, berör fysiskt och involvera andra för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt. Resultatet presenteras som kategorier och subkategorier, där kategorierna utgör ovanstånde begrepp.Konklusion: Studien visar särskilt att sjuksköterskorna omriktar hoppet samt tillåter det otroliga hoppet för att förmedla hopp till patienter som vårdas palliativt. Studien visar även på spänningen mellan dessa båda kategorier.
Background: Patients in palliative care are in need of hope to be able to live during the time left for them. The nursing care of patients in palliative care is connected to the patient’s experience of hope. In a Swedish context it has not been published any study since 1998, concerning how nurses do to mediate hope to patients in palliative care.Aim: The aim of this study was to elucidate how nurses in Sweden mediate hope to patients in palliative care.Method: A qualitative empirical inductive study was conducted. Eight nurses working in a palliative care-unit or a palliative home care-unit (ASIH) were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed with inspiration of Graneheim & Lundman´s qualitative content analysis (2004).Results: The study shows that nurses redirect the hope, permit the incredible hope, build relationships, help with practicalities, handle symptoms medically, touch physically and involve others to mediate hope to patients in palliative care. The result is presented in categories and subcategories, where the categories constitute above-mentioned concepts.Conclusion: The study especially shows that nurses redirect the hope and permit the incredible hope to mediate hope to patients in palliative care. The study also shows a tension between these two categories.

Bakgrund: Palliativ vård innebär att ge vård till patienter med en obotlig sjukdom samt tillstånd där patienten inte förväntas att överleva sjukdomen eller tillståndet. Hopp är viktigt att eftersträva inom den palliativa vården, där sjuksköterskan har en betydande roll. Det är svårt att förmedla hopp till svårt sjuka patienter, och därför är kunskapen om hur det kan förmedlas viktig. Syfte: Att beskriva hur sjuksköterskor förmedlar hopp till patienter i livets slutskede. Metod: En innehållsanalys gjordes där en kvantitativ och åtta kvalitativa vetenskapliga artiklar granskades. Resultat: De nio vetenskapliga artiklar som granskades resulterade i en kategori; kommunikation i palliativ vård med tre subkategorier; kommunikation om fokus på livet, sjuksköterskans närvaro vid kommunikation och kommunikation om döden. Slutsats: Resultatet i studien visar att kommunikation med patienter angående döden var en svårighet för sjuksköterskor. Där rädsla för att patienten skulle förlora hoppet helt är en stor del till varför sjuksköterskor valde att undvika att tala om döden. När sjuksköterskor har vågat bemöta patienten i fråga om döden påvisade detta positiva effekter hos patienten då de hade uppnått en acceptans av den obotliga sjukdomen och hade på så vis kunnat behålla hoppet. Studien påvisar vikten av att sjuksköterskor vågar kommunicera med patienten om döden.
Background: The definition of palliative care is to give treatment to patients with incurable disease when the patient is not expected to survive the disease. Hope is important to strive for in palliative care, where the nurse has a significant role. It is difficult to convey hope to critically ill patients, and therefore the knowledge of how it can be conveyed is important. Aim: To describe how nurses can convey hope to patients in palliative care. Method: A content analysis was made where nine scientific articles were audited. Results: The nine scientific articles that were audited resulted in one category; communication in palliative care with three subcategories; communication about focus in life, nurse’s presence when communicating and communication about death. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that communication with patients about death was a difficulty for nurses. Where fear of patient losing their hope was a big part of why nurses choose to avoid talking about death. When nurses have had the courage to talk about death with the patient it has shown positive effects within the patient where they have reached an acceptance of the incurable disease and they have been able to keep their hope. The study has shown how important it is that nurses dare to communicate with patients about death.

FC Rosengård driver Framtidsprojektet som en del i sitt integrationsskapande arbete. Projektet följer två klasser från Rosengårdsskolan från sjunde klass till första året på gymnasiet, där meningen med projektet är att vara förberedande inför gymnasieval, förberedande inför yrkesval, att ge en inblick i föreningslivet och att ge deltagarna en meningsfull fritidssysselsättning.Syftet med denna uppsats är att skapa en förståelse för hur de delaktiga inom projektet upplever Framtidsprojektet och vilken utveckling av deltagarna som anses ske. Resultaten visar att respondenterna inte upplever Framtidsprojektet som ett integrationsprojekt utan som ett skolprojekt som skulle kunna drivas på vilken skola som helst. Det finns dock anledningar till att detta stöd behövs mer på Rosengårdskolan än andra skolor. Många elever beskrivs inte ha förstått skol – eller betygsystem och många anses sakna vuxenstöd utanför skolan gällande sin skolgång. Projektet bygger på en röd tråd, där deltagare genom att välja intresseområden skall få information om olika gymnasieskolor och program, för att sedan prova på olika yrken genom praktik på arbetsplatser. Denna röda tråd har bland annat lett till att deltagare har fått en större förståelse för hur högstadieskola, gymnasieskola och yrkesliv hör ihop. Deltagare menar att de främst har utvecklats genom att ha fått möjligheten att prova olika yrken och därmed inte bara funnit intressanta yrken inför framtiden utan även fått insikter i vilka yrkesområden de inte vill arbeta inom. Genom att kunna sortera bort olika yrken kan de istället koncentrera sig på relevanta områden. Några deltagare anser även att projektet har fått dem mer intresserade av skolan och att de nu lägger ner mer tid på sina skolarbeten. Andra deltagare menar att de har insett att deras drömyrken är svåra att uppnå och att de antagligen inte kommer få de betyg som krävs. Detta har gjort att de har funnit andra vägar att gå, antingen inom samma intresseområden eller inom nya yrkesval.

Bakgrund När ett barn drabbas av cancer, drabbas hela familjen. Detta betyder att om en individs livssituation förändras kommer detta påverka livet för alla inkluderade. Därför är det essentiellt att familjen och omvårdnaden betraktas som helhet. Hopp har visat sig ha en stor betydelse inom cancervården och för tillfrisknandet. Däremot kan avsaknaden av hoppet få konsekvenser som nedstämdhet, nedsatt motivation och minskad följsamhet i behandlingen. Bakgrunden visar att sjuksköterskan är den profession som ter sig bäst lämpad i främjandet och bibehållandet av hoppet. Syfte Syftet var att beskriva familjers upplevelser av hopp i vården av ett cancersjukt barn. Metod En icke-systematisk litteraturöversikt med 17 vetenskapliga artiklar. Tolv vetenskapliga artiklar söktes fram i PubMed och CINAHL samt fem stycken via en manuell sökning. Det totala antalet artiklar kvalitetsgranskades och genomgick sedan en integrerad analys. Resultat Flertalet familjer upplevde hoppet som konstant och den viktigaste faktorn i vården av ett cancersjukt barn. Däremot kunde familjer även uppleva att hoppets intensitet varierade beroende på vad som inträffade under behandlingen. Variationens intensitet beskrevs utifrån en hög hoppfullhet som resulterade i minskade ångestsymtom medan en låg hoppfullhet orsakade depression och ångest. Familjers upplevelser av vilka faktorer som främjade hoppet var framförallt ett empatiskt och förstående bemötande, stöd från närstående och vårdpersonal samt sanningsenlig information och kunskap om sjukdomen. Slutsats Alla familjer till ett cancersjukt barn upplever att hoppet har en signifikant betydelse i vården. Dels för att orka fortsätta behandlingarna genom den berg- och dalbana föräldrarna beskriver att cancervården medför, men också för att motverka de konsekvenser som cancern och hopplöshet kan orsaka, såsom depression och ångest. Sammantaget beskrevs hoppet som fluktuerande under hela vårdtiden men familjernas upplevelse av hoppet var alltid konstan
Background The whole family is affected when their child is diagnosed with cancer. If one individuals' life situation changes, this will affect the lives of everyone included. It is essential that the nursing and the family is seen as united. Hope has shown have a great meaning in cancer care and for the recovery. However, lack av hope can eventuate consequences like depression, decreased motivation and compliance. The background shows that the nurse is the profession that is best suited for promoting and preservation of hope. Aim The aim was to describe family's experiences of hope in care of a child with cancer. Method A non-systematic literature review with 17 scientific articles. Twelve scientific articles were search in PubMed and CINAHL and five articles through a manual research. The total amount of articles was quality reviewed and went later on through an integrated analysis. Results Most families experienced hope as something constant and the most important component in nursing for a child suffering from cancer. However parents could also experience that the intensity of hope varied depending on how the treatment progress went. Intensity of the variation was described as high hopefulness resulted in reduced anxiety symptoms while a low hopefulness caused depression and anxiety. An empathic and understanding response, support from relatives and health care professionals together with truthful information and knowledge about the disease were those factors that promoted hope according to the family. Conclusions All families experienced the significant meaning of hope. Partly to be able to continue the treatments through the roller-coaster parents described that the cancer brings with it, but also to be able to resist the consequences cancer and hopelessness can bring, such as depression and anxiety. Summarized, hope is described as something fluctuating but were always present.

Bakgrund Stroke är en vanlig sjukdom och är en av de vanligaste orsakerna till död i Sverige. Stroke är något som sker neurologiskt och kan leda till förlamning och andra problem. Hopp är något som kan leda till positiva konsekvenser hos patienter, uppgiftspecifik träning och emotionellt stöd kan leda till positiva konsekvenser hos patienterna. Syfte Syftet är att beskriva betydelsen av hopp hos personer som genomgått stroke och ur anhörigas perspektiv Metod Litteraturöversikt, där databaserna PubMed och Cinahl har använts, artiklar med patienter som haft stroke och anhöriga har inkluderats. Tio artiklar har sökts fram med hjälp av databaserna och delats upp i olika kategorier beroende på begrepp i artiklarna. Resultat Begreppet hopp förekommer vid återhämtning efter stroke, rehabilitering och olika aktiviteter har betydelse för hopp om att gå vidare i livet. Vårdpersonal har en viktig roll när det kommer till att inge hopp till patienterna och även familjemedlemmarna behöver stöd och hopp så att de kan fokusera på sin familjemedlem. Holistiska metoder har en positiv inverkan på hopp om att bli bättre hos patienterna och innebär att man sett på hela hälsan, dvs helheten. Slutsats Emotionella, existentiella faktorer, rehabilitering, vårdpersonal och familjemedlemmar är viktiga begrepp som förekommer inom det här området och har en inverkan på patienter med stroke.
Background Stroke is a common disease and one of the most common reasons for death in Sweden. It is a neurological disorder and can lead to disability and other problems. Hope is a something that can lead to positive consequences, specific training, rehabilitation and emotional support can lead to better outcomes. Aim Describe the meaning of hope among patients that have been through stroke and their family members and relatives. Method Literature review, where the databases PubMed and Cinahl were used, articles with strokepatients and their relatives and families were included, the articles have been divided into different categories. Results Hope is the most important factor when it comes to recovery, rehabilitation affect the hope, health care workers also plays an important role and family members also need support and hope to be able to focus on their family member. Holistic methods have a positive effect on the wellbeing and the hope to become better. Conclusions Emotional, existential factors, rehabilitation, nursing staff and family members have an important role and impact on patients with stroke and their care.

The article presents the results of research of hop varieties collected from various hop-producing countries of the world in order to preserve the genetic resources of this crop. The history of the development of the bioresource genetic collection of common hops (Humulus lupulus L.) is described. In Chuvashia in 1980, work began on the collection and creation of a collection of hops. In many countries of the world, national programs are being developed for the conservation and use of plant genetic resources, including hops.

Résumé :

Multi-hop knowledge base question answering (KBQA) aims at finding the answers to a factoid question by reasoning across multiple triples. Note that when human performs multi-hop reasoning, one tends to concentrate on specific relation at different hops and pinpoint a group of entities connected by the relation. Hypergraph convolutional networks (HGCN) can simulate this behavior by leveraging hyperedges to connect more than two nodes more than pairwise connection. However, HGCN is for undirected graphs and does not consider the direction of information transmission. We introduce the directed-HGCN (DHGCN) to adapt to the knowledge graph with directionality. Inspired by human's hop-by-hop reasoning, we propose an interpretable KBQA model based on DHGCN, namely two-phase hypergraph based reasoning with dynamic relations, which explicitly updates relation information and dynamically pays attention to different relations at different hops. Moreover, the model predicts relations hop-by-hop to generate an intermediate relation path. We conduct extensive experiments on two widely used multi-hop KBQA datasets to prove the effectiveness of our model.

Recent work has proposed multi-hop models and datasets for studying complex natural language reasoning. One notable task requiring multi-hop reasoning is fact checking, where a set of connected evidence pieces leads to the final verdict of a claim. However, existing datasets either do not provide annotations for gold evidence pages, or the only dataset which does (FEVER) mostly consists of claims which can be fact-checked with simple reasoning and is constructed artificially. Here, we study more complex claim verification of naturally occurring claims with multiple hops over interconnected evidence chunks. We: 1) construct a small annotated dataset, PolitiHop, of evidence sentences for claim verification; 2) compare it to existing multi-hop datasets; and 3) study how to transfer knowledge from more extensive in- and out-of-domain resources to PolitiHop. We find that the task is complex and achieve the best performance with an architecture that specifically models reasoning over evidence pieces in combination with in-domain transfer learning.

The popularity of local craft beers in the US is growing, as is the desire for beers made with all-local ingredients. Maryland breweries have been able to use locally grown ingredients, including hops, but have not been able to claim use of a hop native to Maryland. 'Monocacy' hop was discovered in Maryland on a farm that was part of the original Carrollton Manor, once owned by Charles Carroll, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, in what was likely a cottage garden between the house and barn. Molecular fingerprinting established it as unique and clustering with hop accessions native to North America. Compared with cultivars currently grown in Maryland, 'Monocacy' is very large and vigorous, late maturing, and tolerant of of two-spotted spider mites, potato leafhoppers, and hop downy mildew. 'Monocacy' produces high yields of large open cones with an herbaal-floral aroma and abundant lupulin. Most hops have more alpha acids than beta acids, and contribute a bitter flavor to beers. The 'Monocacy' alpha acid content was lower than the beta acid content, with alpha to beta acid ratios ranging from 0.54 to 0.59 and could contribute to a beer that is not overly bitter. High myrcene (12.85%) and caryophyllene (38.13%) suggest a spicy-floral character. 'Monocacy' added an earthy and spicy note to lighter beers, and in some beers when used as a dry hop it added a light fruity note on the pallet in the finish. The most recent beer using 'Monocacy' had a medium-light body with a bisquity malt aroma and delicate "spicy/hoppy" nose. Maryland breweries are anxious to use this hop in their beers.
