Résumé :

When we observe people, we can often comprehend their intention from their behaviors. The intentions expressed by individuals can be considered as existing in interpersonal space and from a current social context. In our daily activity, choosing socially correct behavior through the observation of such social context is essential. However, it is not known how we can decode intention from another’s behavior. Here, we show how we can retrieve the intention of monkeys through external observation of their behavior patterns while performing alternative free choice tasks. We found that linear discriminant analysis on a monkey’s motion parameters could provide a discriminant score that appears to reflect the internal decision making process. The score showed a clear flexion point that we defined as a moment of outward expression of intention (OEI). This suggests that an alternative decision is made just before an OEI and that intention is expressed in the environment after this OEI in behavior, which in turn suggests that discriminant analysis may be useful in indicating how the brain implements nonverbal social communication. If we could embed the function in a human-machine interfaces, it could enable intuitive, smooth communication between machines and humans.

In this study, we proposed a behavior analysis for increasing the efficiency of human–robot collaboration in an assembly task. This study was inspired by previous research, in which a set of operator intentions in assembly was translated into an intention graph to formulate a probabilistic decision model for planning robot actions in the presence of operator intention ambiguity and perception uncertainty. Here, we achieved improvement by considering the analysis of human behavior in the form of fatigue and adaptation ability. We also switched the collaboration scheme from cooperative to collaborative, in which both the robot and operator work in parallel, not sequentially. We then tested the proposed method with chair assembly and the results indicated that shortening the assembly duration increased the effectiveness of the assembly process. The results also indicated that the proposed method for assembling 50 chairs was 4.68 s faster than the previous method.

Résumé :

Prior marketing literature highlights the customer value co-creation behavior on offline business. This paper focuses on investigating the effects of customer value co-creation behavior on the online purchase intention. Further, the hypothesis is tested via adopting the structural equation model method. The research shows that under the online shopping environment, the behaviors of customer participation and citizenship behavior have significant positive impacts on purchase intention and can be the direct antecedents of purchase intention. Compared with customer participation behavior, customer citizenship behavior has greater impacts on purchase intentions. The analysis outcome of the study has remarkable importance on improving the sales of online retailers.

Résumé :

Intention is the main embodiment of human cerebral conscious activities, which has an important influence on guiding the realization of human behaviour. It is a vital prerequisite for analysing the dynamic characteristics of pilots with different intentions. Considering the intention law of the generation, transfer and reduction, this paper analyses dynamic characteristics of pilots with different intentions, starting from the factors of effect on the intention. Taking airfield traffic pattern as an example for simulating flight experiments, the pilot’s multi-source dynamic data of human – aircraft – environment system under different intentions and their psycho-physiological-physical characteristics were recorded. Based on Matlab, one-way analysis of variance was used to extract variables with significant changes, and the variables under different intentions were compared and analysed. The results show that the conventional pilots are more conducive to control the aircraft to keep a stable flight attitude. This study is of great significance for perfecting the warning system of flight safety and improving the pilot’s micro-behaviour assessment system.

Then by continuing to develop the competencies and talents they have, so that they have the ability, behavior and high loyalty to the company. Résumé :

We present an intention estimator algorithm that can deal with dynamic change of the environment in a man-machine system and will be able to be utilized for an autarkical human-assisting system. In the algorithm, state transition relation of intentions is formed using a self-organizing map (SOM) from the measured data of the operation and environmental variables with the reference intention sequence. The operational intention modes are identified by stochastic computation using a Bayesian particle filter with the trainedSOM. This method enables to omit the troublesome process to specify types of information which should be used to build the estimator. Applying the proposed method to the remote operation task, the estimator's behavior was analyzed, the pros and cons of the method were investigated, and ways for the improvement were discussed. As a result, it was confirmed that the estimator can identify the intention modes at 44–94 percent concordance ratios against normal intention modes whose periods can be found by about 70 percent of members of human analysts. On the other hand, it was found that human analysts' discrimination which was used as canonical data for validation differed depending on difference of intention modes. Specifically, an investigation of intentions pattern discriminated by eight analysts showed that the estimator could not identify the same modes that human analysts could not discriminate. And, in the analysis of the multiple different intentions, it was found that the estimator could identify the same type of intention modes to human-discriminated ones as well as 62–73 percent when the first and second dominant intention modes were considered.

This study aims to analyze factors influencing citizens’ intentions to take protective action against particulate matter (PM) and their actual actions in response to PM. There were few research on the role of government factors and the issue of intention–action inconsistency in the context of PM mitigation action. Therefore, this study set not only variables in the risk perception paradigm but also ones in government factors as independent variables, while intention and action in response to PM were set as dependent variables. This study’s analysis was based on survey data collected from Korean people. For representativeness of the samples, this study adopted the quota sampling method, considering region, gender, and age. Five hundred respondents finished the survey. To verify the hypotheses, this study used regression and binomial logistic analysis. Analysis showed that (1) negative emotions, trust, knowledge, government competency, policy satisfaction, and policy awareness had significant effects on intention and action in response to PM, and (2) perceived benefits only affected intention, whereas government accountability only affected action. Logistic analysis showed that there were groups in which intentions and actions did not match. Negative emotions and government competence induce intention–action consistency, whereas the perceived benefits and trust in government tend to encourage inconsistency. Knowledge is a variable that induces both consistency and inconsistency in the intention–action relationship. The determinant structures of independent variables affecting the likelihood of belonging to the four groups differed.

Human Resources Management (HRM) is part of the organizational functions that contribute to the effectiveness of a firm’s performance, and brings an organization a competitive advantage through the implementation of its Human Resources (HR) practices. HR practices adopted by management are perceived or attributed subjectively by individual employees, and can in turn affect the employees’ attitudes and behavior (e.g. Job satisfaction and turnover intention). The purpose of this study is to contribute to the process-based approach by investigating the effect of HR attributions on turnover intentions, with job satisfaction playing a mediating role. The analysis is on the individual level, with 454 respondents from various organizations within the Netherlands. The results show that HR attributions can affect the turnover intention, through the presence of job satisfaction. Thus, it can be said that it is important to always consider the employees’ attitudes and behavior when examining their perception of HR practices, and in predicting their intention to leave.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to extend the attitudinal approach to entrepreneurial intentions by using a structural analysis to explore overlooked personal values as the antecedents of entrepreneurial attitude. Based on the widely adopted value system proposed by Schwartz, this study argues that while one cluster of personal values is positively correlated with entrepreneurial attitude that leads to entrepreneurial intention, another cluster of personal values is negatively correlated with entrepreneurial attitude. Design/methodology/approach – Questionnaire responses obtained from a sample of 276 MBA were analyzed using structural equation models to examine the influences of values on entrepreneurial intentions via entrepreneurial attitude. Findings – The results of this study demonstrate that personal values of self-direction, stimulation, achievement, and universalism are all positively correlated with entrepreneurial attitude, which together constitute a comfort zone for entrepreneurship, whereas values in the opposite end of the circumplex including benevolence, tradition, conformity, security, and power are negatively correlated with entrepreneurial attitude. The values that discourage the formation of an entrepreneurial attitude also counter the positive effect of entrepreneurial attitude on intention, making the relationship between entrepreneurial attitude and intention contingent upon value conflicts. Originality/value – This study regards entrepreneurship as a career development and contributes to the entrepreneurship study by differentiating the influences of a vital construct, i.e., personal values, which should not be regarded as a universalism. The value circumplex with a comfort and discomfort zone developed by this study can serve as a platform to help build the view on entrepreneurial intentions in terms of personal values.

Educational games have been employed among Omani schools but those used by local Omani schools were imported and were mostly designed based on western contexts. For Omani children, these games may be culturally inappropriate and difficult to comprehend and follow, impeding children’s learning. Three questionnaires and one observational checklist were used to gather data from 40 respondents (observers). SPSS was used in data analysis. Through experiments, the behavior of Omani students towards the use of imported educational games was examined. Five main factors, namely, efficiency, learnability, memorability, errors, and satisfaction, of educational games for a target user were measured using Hybrid User Evaluation Methodology for Remote Evaluation (HUEMRE), Training Framework for Untrained Observer (TFUO), and Framework on Educational Games Behavior Intention (EGsBI), which are specifically designed frameworks for this purpose. The results of this study explained that the Omani children are facing difficulties in using the imported educational games; furthermore, this study proves that culture, language, animation, and interaction are contributing heavily to benefiting from educational games, and, therefore, these factors shall be highly considered in the process of educational games design to facilitate and ensure children learning; furthermore, the findings of this study enrich the comprehension of how the specified factors positively affect behavioral intention of Omani students in the use of educational games and in improving the behavior intention level of these students.

The population in this study were the parties managing the regional financial information system totaling 612 people. The sampling technique uses saturated samples. The processing of data used Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS) application for the SEM Methods. The results showed that: partially, the reliability of information systems, organizational support, benefits, user behavior, has an effect on user satisfaction with the government regeny/cities in North Sumatra; partially, the reliability of information systems, organizational support, benefits, user behavior, use of the intention to the local government in North Sumatra; the user satisfaction factor affects the intention to use; Partially, the reliability of information systems, organizational support, benefits, and user behavior affects user satisfaction and its impact on intention to use in local governments in North Sumatra.

Ecotourism, which promotes environmental conservation and brings social and economic benefits through conscious and harmonious interactions between humans and nature, has become a principal tool for achieving these objectives. Sustainable tourism can only be supported with tourists realizing the elements of attraction toward ecotourism. This study analyzes the roots of ecotourism behavior using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), specifically determining the roles of ecotourism tendency, attitude, human–land coordination stress, and sense of self-control in influencing tourists’ intention and behavior toward ecotourism. This study used a cross-sectional design, requiring 847 participants to complete a standardized questionnaire assessing their behavior toward ecotourism, attitudes, and perceptions. Reliability testing, descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and factor analysis were used to analyze the datasets to discover major factors relating to ecotourism intention behavior. A consequent outcome is that ecotourism attitude and self-determination are the significant drivers of ecotourism desire, while behavioral norms only impact ecotourism attitude and selflessness. The study concluded that the subjective perception of tourists and their behavior control ability are the ones that affect their ecotourism behavior more than other factors. The findings suggest that enhancing tourists’ ecotourism attitude, sense of self-control, and awareness of human–place coordination can significantly promote ecotourism behaviors. These results highlight the importance of comprehensive regional ecotourism analysis, robust environmental education, and promoting normative behaviors to foster sustainable tourism practices. To validate these findings, further research should focus on longitudinal studies and clinical trials to standardize integrated ecotourism strategies and explore the underlying mechanisms influencing ecotourism behavior.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to use social exchange theory (SET) to examine a model where supportive and unsupportive manager behaviors (SMB and UMB) interact to predict employees’ engagement, job satisfaction and turnover intention. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional online survey collected data from 252 UK-based employees of a global data management company. Findings Factor analysis confirmed manager behaviors to consist of two constructs: supportive and unsupportive behaviors. Structural equation modeling indicated SMB predicted job satisfaction and turnover intentions, but not engagement. Job satisfaction, but not engagement, mediated the SMB-turnover intention relationship. UMB only predicted job dissatisfaction. Neither job satisfaction nor engagement mediated the UMB-turnover intention relationship. UMB undermined the positive relationship between SMB and turnover intention. Practical implications The behaviors assessed can be integrated into various stages of a manager’s development process to serve as guidelines of good practice. Crucially, findings suggest managers can exhibit both supportive and unsupportive behaviors, and that consistency in behaviors is important. The study also provides evidence that supportive managers can help reduce turnover intention through job satisfaction. Originality/value SET was used as a framework for SMB, UMB and engagement. To the authors’ knowledge this is the first study to examine the interaction between SMB and UMB.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) vaccination intention and to suggest a baseline data for enhancement of the HPV vaccination intention of male fresh men in university students. Methods Data were collected from june 30 to November 30, 2020 using a structural questionnaire, which was completed by 162 students in D, K city. The collected data were analyzed by using t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson’s correlation coefficients and Multiple regression analysis. Results The factors affecting the HPV vaccination intention of female fresh men in university students included subject norm(β=.44, p<.001), attitudes(β=.28, p<.001), perceived behavior control(β=.20, p=.020) to receive to HPV vaccination. These factors accounted for 56.0% of the adjustment of college life(p<.001). Conclusions It is important to find ways to improve of the HPV intention of female fresh men in university students and there is a need to include education programs or practical intervention to strengthen HPV vaccination intentions.

Robots must understand human intention flexibly before the two can live together, for example. Interaction Emotion Communication (IEC), bidirectional communication based on emotional behavior between human beings and robots, raises the personal affinity a robot has for human beings. IEC consists of three processes – (1) recognizing human emotion, (2) generating robot emotion, and (3) expressing robot emotion. We focus here on generating robot emotion. Emotional behavior patterns desirable in a robot vary with the person, so we also conducted individual preference analysis of emotional behavior.

The main aim of this research study is to examine the impact of five independent variables viz. performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation on behavioral intention to use mobile payment apps. This study is further aimed at investigating the influence of behavioral intention on the use behavior of mobile payment app users. This study strives to investigate the use behavior of people who have already used mobile payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and PayTM previously for making payments for the products and services they have purchased from various sellers. The researchers used the UTAUT2 theory to examine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables mentioned above. The data was collected from 618 mobile payment app users from Vidarbha, M.S., India. Availability sampling and purposive sampling techniques were adopted for the final selection of the respondents. A structured questionnaire was designed by the researchers for collecting the required primary data. The six proposed hypotheses were tested by using SMART-PLS 3.3.5 software. The results indicated support for all six proposed hypotheses. The proposed model explained a substantial amount of variance in behavioral intention ( R 2 = 71.8 % and R 2 = 76.5 %) in use behavior towards mobile payment apps explained by independent variables. Facilitating conditions exhibited the strongest effect on behavioral intention.

This study analyzes the factors that influence public acceptance of E-Government Health Application feature on partner applications. The current phenomenon in the health sector is the emergence of COVID-19 which has a very fast rate of human-to-human spread. To handle these cases, the government evaluates and looks for new innovations by cooperating with new partners and making E-Government Health Application feature accessible through partner applications to make it easier for the public. The successful use of the system is influenced by the acceptance and use of the individual who uses it. The research model used in this study is a modified UTAUT2 model with a total sample of 250 respondents. Model testing is done by statistical analysis using SmartPLS software. It was found that Facilitating Conditions and Behavioral Intention variables had a positive and significant effect on Use Behavior variable with t-statistic of 3.659 and 4.505. Habit had a positive and significant effect on Behavioral Intention and Use Behavior variables with t-statistic of 7.939 and 3.232. Meanwhile, the Experience moderating variable affects the Facilitating Condition on Behavioral Intention variable and affects the Behavioral Intention on Use Behavior variable with t-statistics of 2.069 and 1.972

Environmental behavior is essential for maintaining environmental quality and human life. According to the rational perspective from Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), belief, personal norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) affect actions through behavioral intention. In the past two decades, TPB has become the most extensively discussed concept in explaining pro-environmental behavior (PEB) but still needs re-examination in the Indonesian context. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate how subjective norm (SN), attitude (ATT) towards PEB, and PBC influenced PEB through pro-environmental behavior intention (PEBI). An explanatory quantitative method was used including 264 students from Malang State University with the data analysis conducted and structural equation modeling path analysis. The results showed that attitude, SN, and PBC significantly and positively influenced PEB, primarily through behavior intention.

Résumé :

This study focuses on the hierarchical organizational culture of airline cabin crew with a stricter hierarchical order than other industries. The purpose of this study is to suggest implications for human resource management of airline cabin crew through the relationship between hierarchical organizational culture and bullying atmosphere, counterproductive task behavior, and turnover intention. For analysis, SPSS v.21 and AMOS v.21 programs were performed ti conduct frequency analysis for sample characteristics, validity and reliability analysis of measurement tools, and path analysis for hypothesis test. The results of findings are first the hierarchical organizational culture of airline cabin crew had a positive (+) effect on the bullying atmosphere. Second, it was found that the bullying atmosphere of airline cabin crew had a positive (+) effect on counterproductive work behavior. Third, the bullying atmosphere of airline cabin crew had a positive (+) effect on turnover intention. Fourth, the counterproductive work behavior had a positive (+) effect on turnover intention. At the last, it was analyzed that counterproductive work behavior was partially mediated between the bullying atmosphere and turnover intention. With the results of this study, we present strategic implications for human resource management of airline cabin crew.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to determine if self-rated and peer-rated organizational citizenship behavior mediated the relationship between affective commitment and intention to leave in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach – A survey yielded 516 responses from multiple locations in Malaysia across varied industries for a response rate of 64.5 percent. Validity based on confirmatory factor analysis and reliability were confirmed. Findings – Affective commitment influenced self- and peer-rated organizational citizenship behavior and intention to leave. Only self-rated organizational citizenship behavior partially mediated affective commitment and intention to leave. While self-rated organizational citizenship behavior increased intention to leave positively, peer-rated organizational citizenship behavior did not influence intention to leave. Practical implications – The findings confirm earlier research that self-ratings and peer-ratings are different, and, surprisingly, organizational citizenship behavior is not a factor supporting talent retention. Human resource practitioners need to shift their focus to affective commitment that reduces intention to leave and increases organizational citizenship behavior. Originality/value – Past studies on organizational citizenship behavior relied on self-ratings, supervisor-ratings, or both ratings used in Western contexts. Little was known about the assessment of organizational citizenship behavior from peer perspectives and its relationship between affective commitment and intention to leave. Moreover, the relationships between affective commitment and self-rated and peer-rated organizational citizenship behavior were inconsistent. This study responded to those gaps by integrating affective commitment, self-rated, and peer-rated organizational citizenship behavior, and intention to leave into a single hypothesized model.

PurposeThe aim of this study was to identify and quantitatively assess the importance of psychosocial and organizational factors that influence employees' intentions to engage in pro-environmental behaviors at the workplace.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire based on the theory of planned behavior was completed by 318 employees. To validate three suggested hypotheses, a series of path analysis models were constructed using AMOS software.FindingsThe theory of planned behavior explained 79 percent and 37.7 percent of variance in predicting intentions of employees to travel to work using alternative transportation and to make eco-suggestions directed toward the workplace, respectively. While organizational barriers did not play a significant role in predicting intentions to use alternative transportation, some organizational obstacles (opinion of colleagues, required paperwork) influenced workers' intention to make eco-suggestions.Originality/valueThis is one of the first articles in the field of pro-environmental workplace behaviors in which the theory of planned behavior is implemented in a systematic manner (qualitative exploration of beliefs followed by their quantitative evaluation). This article contributes to the existing literature by shedding light on the disproportionate influence of organizational and psychosocial factors on pro-environmental workplace behaviors.

Numbers of studies showed that there was a consistent connection between a sense of place and pro-environmental behavior intention. It is crucial to understand what makes people feel attached to the place and the factors that contribute to its behavior intention. Limited research has been done to investigate the interaction between place attachment and pro-environmental behavior especially in green space settings. This study investigated the relationship between place attachment and pro-environmental behavior intention at Temerloh Lake Garden, Pahang, Malaysia. The intensity of place attachment and pro-environmental behavior intention were measured using the structured questionnaire followed by an analysis of the relationship between these two constructs using correlation analysis and descriptive statistics analysis. A total of 376 respondents were involved in this study and found out that there is a positive correlation between valuing a place and their willingness to volunteer in environmental activities. However, visitation pattern to the park indirectly influenced the intensity of place attachment thus affecting their pro-environmental behavior intention. This study provides valuable insights in examining the pro-environmental behavior intention among park visitors that park managers should focus to improve the effectiveness of the green space setting in delivering numerous benefits for human quality of life.

Purpose – This paper aims to contribute to the study of the factors of consumers’ attitudes toward boycott intention. This examines how behavioral beliefs and attitudes are statistically related to boycott intention through the modified conceptual framework of Ajzen’s Theories of Reasoned Action and Planned Behavior. Design/methodology/approach – Human behavior concerning boycott intentions is studied using a sequential explanatory research design. Data are obtained from 90 valid respondents through questionnaires and 8 interviewees from focus group discussions. It was analyzed using regression analysis and Baheiraei's points of integration. Findings – Animosity, legitimacy, and boycott attitude significantly affect boycott intention. Boycott attitude served as a mediator between legitimacy and boycott intention. Weak evidence shows that ethical relativism and animosity significantly affect boycott attitudes. Research Limitations/Implications – The study is limited to millennials and Generation Z Filipino fashion consumers who have substantial purchasing power and awareness of social events. Practical/Social Implications – This paper shall help companies and researchers better understand the motives behind boycott intentions for ethical decision-making processes and further engage in social and moral involvements within the community. Originality/value – The study proposes the addition of relevant variables to studies on boycott intention in the fashion industry. This may help increase the understanding of consumer attitudes leading to boycotts and aid a company in countering boycotts.

Among the unpleasant human traits that have been introduced by researchers in the psychology literature is the Dark Triad. The Dark Triad are three characteristics that correlate with each other and attract attention in the empirical realm, namely Machiavellianism, Psychopathy and Narcissism (Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, and Narcissism). This study examines the ethical model of accountants in Indonesia. This study aims to investigate the effect of dark triad (which consists of Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy) and subjective norm toward perceived peers’ behavior and ethical intention. The method used in this study is quantitative method with survey as the data collection method. Using questionnaire, the data of this study were collected from 68 participants. This study used moderated regression analysis to analyze the data. The findings of this study indicate that dark triad does not significantly affect perceived peers’ behavior but significantly affects unethical intention. Meanwhile, subjective norm has a significant effect on perceived peers’ behavior but does not significantly affect unethical intention. This study also reveals that perceived peers’ behavior has a significant influence on unethical intention. This research provides benefits as literature contributor that describes the profile of Indonesian accountants according to personality theory and subjective norms, as well as how personality and subjective norms can shape characters that affect perceptions of unethical behavior, intentions to take unethical actions in decision making.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the order of human life, especially on consumer behavior. Consumer behavior that transforms from manual to digital in shopping, increasingly dominated by the choice of using food delivery and E-Payment applications. Therefore, this study aims to test the UTAUT-2 Theory against the use of food delivery apps, with SEM-PLS analysis tools and using the Multigroup Gender Use Analysis test on 134 respondents spread across Gorontalo Province. The results showed that Performance Expectancy, Price Value, and Habit influence Behavior intentions. Meanwhile, for Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions, and Hedonic Motivation has no effect on behavior intentions using food delivery apps. In addition, multigroup analysis also showed that gender was not an influence on the use of food delivery apps during the covid-19 pandemic. This study has limitations only using the UTAUT2 model in predicting the behavior intention of food delivery applications during the covid-19 pandemic.

This study aimed to identify factors that significantly affect the behavioral intention of nursing staff to practice telenursing, applying the decomposed theory of planned behavior (DTPB) as the research framework. This cross-sectional survey study collected data from a valid sample of 203 responses from nurses from a regional hospital in Taipei City, Taiwan. The results of data analysis showed that nursing staff’s attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control toward telenursing correlated positively with behavioral intention to participate in telenursing. Decomposing the main concepts identified two significant predictive determinants that influence nurses’ behavioral intentions: (a) facilitating conditions (β = 0.394, t = 5.817, p = 0.000 < 0.001) and (b) supervisor influence (β= 0.232, t = 3.431, p = 0.001 < 0.01), which together explain 28.6% of the variance for behavioral intention. The results of this study indicated that support and encouragement from nursing supervisors are important factors affecting nurses’ intention to practice telenursing. Education and training, health policies advocacy and the provision of adequate facilitating technologies and recourses are important factors for improving intention to practice telenursing.

Understanding human periodic behaviors is crucial in many applications. Existing research has shown the existence of periodicity in human behaviors, but has achieved limited success in leveraging location periodicity and obtaining satisfactory accuracy for oscillations in human periodic behaviors. In this article, we propose the Mobility Intention and Relative Entropy (MIRE) model to address these challenges. We employ tensor decomposition to extract mobility intentions from spatiotemporal datasets, thereby revealing hidden structures in users’ historical records. Subsequently, we utilize subsequences associated with the same mobility intention to mine human periodic behaviors. Furthermore, we introduce a novel periodicity detection algorithm based on relative entropy. Our experimental results, conducted on real-world datasets, demonstrate the effectiveness of the MIRE model in accurately uncovering human periodic behaviors. Comparative analysis further reveals that the MIRE model significantly outperforms baseline periodicity detection algorithms.

Theory of Planned Behavior is a theory that underlies planned human behavior in the use of technology. In order to increase the results of Regional Original Revenue and PAD Transparency, the government needs to innovate to increase people's intentions in fulfilling levy responsibilities. This study aims to test and provide empirical evidence related to Market Traders' Intentions in the Use of the E-Retribution Market system. This study uses a survey method conducted on market traders in the city of Malang. The data obtained in this research is processed with the help of the Smart PLS2.0 analysis tool. The test results show that perceived usefulness, perceived convenience, and perception of fun affect the attitude of using Market E-retribution. Attitudes, Social Factors, Facility Conditions affect the Intention to Use Market E-retribution. Self-Confidence has been proven that it has no effect on the Intention to Use Market E-retribution. The results of this study are expected to be able to contribute to the government in developing the Regional Original Revenue policy. Nowadays, corporations are moving towards sustainable management, and the social responsibility reports released by corporations show their sustainable behaviors. Aviation is a high-polluting industry with high carbon emissions, which makes it even more important for airlines to have a sustainable management plan. Consumers are also becoming more aware of the need to go green in order to minimize environmental damage and enhance human well-being. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of corporate sustainability behaviors on airline ridership, the role of corporate image as a mediator, and the moderating effect of brand loyalty on ridership. A total of 412 questionnaires were collected from consumers who have traveled on airplanes. After deducting 50 invalid questionnaires, 362 valid questionnaires were collected, with a usability rate of 87.8%. Empirical factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression model were applied. The results of this study show that corporate sustainability behavior and corporate image have a significant positive effect on purchase intention, corporate image plays a part in mediating the effect of corporate sustainability behavior on purchase intention, and consumers' brand loyalty strengthens the effect of corporate image on purchase intention. Finally, this study proposes some recommendations for airlines to make sustainable behavior decisions.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of workplace spirituality on employee well-being and intention to stay with the organization among teachers in technical higher education institutions. Furthermore, the study endeavors to test the difference in model estimates across two groups of teachers who differ in their intentional career choice.Design/methodology/approachThis descriptive study was conducted amongst a sample of 523 teachers working in technical educational institutions in India. Self-reporting questionnaires were administered among the respondents, who were selected through purposive sampling method. Structural equation modeling and multi-group analysis were done to test the hypotheses.FindingsAnalysis revealed that workplace spirituality enhanced employee well-being and intention to stay. Differences were observed on the effects of different dimensions of workplace spirituality on job outcomes. Also, teachers’ intentional career choice was found to moderate these relationships.Originality/valueThis study is pioneering in conceptualizing and testing a theoretical model linking workplace spirituality, employee well-being and intention to stay, particularly in the context of teachers who differ in their intentional career choice. Implications with regard to the experience of workplace spirituality and job outcomes in the specific context of teaching are elaborated, thus striving to fill a gap in existing literature.

Environmental challenges like resource depletion, climate change, and biodiversity loss require human action. Environmental education influences individuals’ understanding and motivates responsible behavior, making it a real solution to address current problems. In this study, we examine the impact of situational environmental education and daily environmental education on tourists’ responsible environmental behavior by incorporating them as covariates into an integrated tourist behavior model. In total, 2381 valid questionnaires were obtained. The results showed that (1) daily environmental education mainly affects tourists’ responsible environmental behavior through attitude (0.467) and habits (0.634); (2) tourists’ responsible environmental behavior is mainly affected by situational environmental education through habits (0.534), subjective norms (0.504), and intention (0.614); and (3) personal factors, including attitudes toward environmental behavior, subjective norms, and perceptual behavior control, positively influence tourists’ responsible environmental behavioral intention and their responsible environmental behavior. This research will help to improve sustainability indicators and frameworks and to promote the adoption of sustainable tourism practices.

Education and moral values influence human behaviour, including intention to engage in actions that are beneficial to the society. Increasing research effort has recently focused on sustainable human behaviour, but research that explores the role of sustainability-oriented marketing education (SME) and morality in stimulating sustainable actions, such as sustainable consumption, seems to be missing in the literature. The purpose of this research is to examine how SME and morality influence sustainable consumption intentions among university students, basing on an extended theory of planned behaviour. An online quantitative survey of Management Science students in Nigerian Universities was conducted. Data analysis was based on the SmartPLS structural equation modeling. Findings suggest that SME relates positively with all the constructs, while morality influences sustainable consumption intention and fully mediates the relationship between SME and sustainable consumption intention. However, attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control emerged as non-significant determinants of sustainable consumption intention.

Purpose Integrating the job demands-resources theory and the conservation of resources theory, the purpose of this paper is to develop and test a moderated-mediation model examining the relationships between motivating job characteristics, work engagement, conscientiousness and managers’ turnover intentions. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected using a survey questionnaire from 1,302 managers working in eight Indian private sector organizations. Structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression analysis were used to test the hypothesized relationships between the study variables. Findings The study found evidence of the mediating role of work engagement for the relationship between motivating job characteristics and managers’ turnover intentions. Conscientiousness moderated the relationship between work engagement and turnover intention. The total and indirect effects of motivating job characteristics on turnover intention were moderated by conscientiousness. Research limitations/implications The study was cross-sectional, so inferences about causality are limited. Practical implications The findings of this study reaffirm the crucial role of job characteristics in influencing work engagement and turnover intention. By examining work engagement as a mediator for the job characteristics-turnover intention relationship, this study explores the process through which job characteristics are associated with turnover intention. The findings of the moderating influence of contentiousness on the relationship of direct and indirect effects of job characteristics suggests that individual personality can influence social exchanges as well as managerial attitudes and behaviors in multiple ways. Originality/value The study provides an insight into the underlying process through which job characteristics are related to managers’ turnover intentions. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, such a study is the first of its kind.

Innovative behaviour is attracted research interest. The research draws on Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) frameworks to examine the impacts of technology factors and intention to adopt Cloud-based Human Resource Management Systems on innovative behaviour. The mediating variable of intention to adopt Cloud-based HRMS was examined. Data were collected and analysed from 366 full-time employees who are working within the information and communication sector in SMEs in Jordan. The outputs from smart partial least square (SmartPLS) analysis reveal that technology factors effects intention to adopt Cloud-based HRMS, which consequently affects innovative behaviour. Whereas, leadership support was found to play a significant role in the relationship between intention to adopt Cloud-based HRMS and innovative behaviour, it has a positive effect. These results provide the relevance of the technological factor on how to foster innovative behaviors through intention to adopt Cloud-based HRMS and leadership support.

This study attempted to investigate the influence of distribution-sales attributes on post-purchase behavior with shopping values as a mediator. For this, a self-report questionnaire survey was performed against those who visited a retail store in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do from February 15 to March 14, 2022. Specifically, an online survey using Google Forms and a face-to-face questionnaire survey were conducted. Among 441 questionnaires (332: Google Forms survey, 109: face-to-face survey) collected, 435 copies, excluding 6 poorly answered ones, were used for final analysis. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0, and the results found the following: First, in terms of distribution-sales attributes (endogenous variables), 6 factors were derived through exploratory analysis and confirmatory factor analysis: ‘product quality’, ‘price’, ‘product diversity’, ‘ease of access’, ‘shopping convenience’, and ‘human services’. Second, concerning exogenous variables, 4 factors were obtained through exploratory analysis and confirmatory factor analysis: ‘hedonic value’, ‘utilitarian value’, ‘word-of-mouth intention’, and ‘repurchase intention’. Third, according to the analysis of the hypothesis that distribution-sales attributes would affect shopping values, ‘product quality’, ‘product diversity’, ‘shopping convenience’, and ‘human services’ had an influence on ‘hedonic value’ while ‘product quality’, ‘price’, ‘product diversity’, and ‘human services’ affected ‘utilitarian value’. In other words, ‘price’ and ‘ease of access’ revealed no statistically significant effect on ‘hedonic value’ while ‘ease of access’ and ‘shopping convenience’ had no significant influence on ‘utilitarian value’. Fourth, according to the analysis of the hypothesis that shopping values would affect post-purchase behavior, both ‘hedonic value’ and ‘utilitarian value’ influenced ‘word-of-mouth intention’ and ‘repurchase intention’ with statistical significance.

This study develops a comprehensive robotic system, termed the robot cognitive system, for complex environments, integrating three models: the engagement model, the intention model, and the human–robot interaction (HRI) model. The system aims to enhance the naturalness and comfort of HRI by enabling robots to detect human behaviors, intentions, and emotions accurately. A novel dual-arm-hand mobile robot, Mobi, was designed to demonstrate the system’s efficacy. The engagement model utilizes eye gaze, head pose, and action recognition to determine the suitable moment for interaction initiation, addressing potential eye contact anxiety. The intention model employs sentiment analysis and emotion classification to infer the interactor’s intentions. The HRI model, integrated with Google Dialogflow, facilitates appropriate robot responses based on user feedback. The system’s performance was validated in a retail environment scenario, demonstrating its potential to improve the user experience in HRIs.

Purpose The topic of entrepreneurial intention, which refers to a person’s degree of interest in creating a new business venture, has received close scrutiny in the entrepreneurship literature. The empirical results regarding the relation between emotional intelligence (EI) and entrepreneurial intention were nevertheless mixed across studies. Based on fit theory and trait activation theory, the purpose of this paper is to explain the fundamental reason for the mixed findings in the extant literature thus far. Design/methodology/approach Random-effects meta-analyses, based on 12 studies (along with 12 effect sizes), were performed to not only investigate the overall relation between EI and entrepreneurial intention but also to examine the moderators (i.e. individualism (vs collectivism), masculinity (vs femininity), power distance, long-term orientation (vs short-term orientation), uncertainty avoidance, and indulgence (vs restraint)) that influence this relation. Findings The results of this meta-analysis demonstrated that EI is positively related to entrepreneurial intention; the positive relationship between EI and entrepreneurial intention is stronger in long-term-oriented cultures; and the positive relationship between EI and entrepreneurial intention does not significantly differ based on a culture’s level of collectivism, masculinity, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and indulgence. Originality/value This meta-analysis advances the current understanding of the relation between EI and entrepreneurial intention from cross-cultural perspectives.

Background: Road traffic injuries (RTIs) are one of the most critical factors that endanger human health. More specifically, head and neck injuries are the main causes of deaths and disabilities among motorcyclists. This study aimed to investigate the predictive factors of helmet use behavior among motorcyclists based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB). Study Design: This study followed the cross-sectional design. Methods: This study was conducted on randomly selected 730 motorcyclist employees in Qom, Iran, in 2021. The data collection tool was a self-administered researcher-made questionnaire, including items on demographic characteristics, history of RTIs, and constructs of TPB. Data were analyzed using descriptive summary statistics, analysis of variance, independent samples t test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results: In this study, only 9.8% of the participants reported that they always used a helmet while riding a motorcycle. About 60% reported a history of a motorcycle crash, and 11.5% had a history of head injuries. The direct effect of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to use a helmet were statistically significant, explaining 59% of the variation in behavioral intention (intention to use a helmet) (R2=0.59). Moreover, perceived behavioral control and behavioral intention had significant effects on helmet use behavior (R2=0.26). Conclusion: The prevalence of helmet use among the studied population was very low. Moreover, TPB was useful in identifying the determinants of behavior and especially behavioral intention of helmet use among motorcyclists.

Individuals taking information system training courses can benefit from learning information systems use and thus have the ability to implement systems before graduation. Previous studies have mentioned that an individual's system acceptance is likely to be determined by the information system, target users and context. However, studies on how personality traits and their interactions with external variables, such as training and subjective norms, to directly or indirectly influence an individual's perception and behavior intention, are lacking. This study integrates the five-factor model and technology acceptance model to explore student information systems acceptance. Questionnaire survey is used to collect data from university students. By using PLS analysis with 331 usable questionnaires, the results indicate that training and subjective norms have positive influences on perceived usefulness. Besides, a conscientiousness personality has a positive influence on perceived usefulness. Extraversion and agreeableness moderate the influence of subjective norms on perceived usefulness, while openness to experience moderates the relationship between training and perceived usefulness. Finally, this study confirms the positive interrelationship among perceived usefulness, attitude and behavior intention. The results provide valuable information for both academicians and practitioners concerned with promoting students' information systems acceptance.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between ethical leadership and academics’ retention in universities. It draws on the conservation of resources theory to deepen the understanding of a process underlying this relationship whereby academics are more likely to stay in universities through the practice of ethical leadership. Specifically, it advances academics’ job-related affective well-being as a potential mediating mechanism, fostered by ethical leadership, which lowers their intention to leave. Design/methodology/approach This study is conducted through a cross-sectional survey of 303 academics in Australian universities. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis procedures are deployed to analyse academics’ data. The research hypotheses are tested through a bootstrapped regression analysis of academics’ perceived ethical leadership, affective well-being and intention to leave. Findings The findings lend support to the hypothesised relations, indicating a significant role of ethical leadership on enhanced intentions of academics to stay in universities by directly conserving their job-related affective well-being. Research limitations/implications This paper contributes to knowledge of the relationship between ethical leadership and academics’ retention by identifying job-related affective well-being as an underlying mechanism in the university sector. Practical implications This paper has practical implications for higher educational institutes seeking to retain their academic staff. Its findings show that the practice of ethical leadership in universities matters, because it lowers academics’ intentions to leave by nurturing their well-being at work. Originality/value This is the first study to examine the impact of ethical leadership on academics’ well-being and intentions to leave in the context of universities in Australia. It is one of the first studies to explore the mediating role of affective well-being in the ethical leadership and leadership and intention to leave relationship.

The rapidly increasing rate of biodiversity and habitat loss across the globe can be largely attributed to human behaviors. Conservation practitioners have struggled to influence behaviors through traditional awareness-raising efforts and been slow to adopt techniques from the behavioral sciences such as social marketing to change behaviors and improve conservation outcomes. We conducted a meta-analysis of 84 social marketing campaigns that applied the same theory of change for human behavior to disrupt patterns of destructive activities such as illegal hunting and overfishing. Questionnaires of more than 20,000 individuals across 18 countries measured changes in behavioral variables pre- and post-campaigns, including knowledge, attitudes, interpersonal communication, behavior intention, and behavior. For each campaign, we extracted data and validated data for behavioral variables, estimated mean effect sizes for each variable across all campaigns, and used path analysis to measure relationships among variables included in seven different models. On average, all behavioral variables increased significantly ( p < .001) from 16.1 to 25.0 percentage points following social marketing campaigns. The full model used a combination of all variables and had the highest explained variation in behavior change (71%). Our results highlight the importance of (a) incorporating behavioral theory and social marketing into traditional conservation programs to address threats to biodiversity across the globe; (b) designing interventions that leverage a combination of community knowledge, attitudes, and communication about a behavior; and (c) facilitating more opportunities for interpersonal communication as a main driver of behavior change. We conclude with potential applications for practitioners interested in behavior change campaigns.

Abstract How does the brain allow us to interact with others? Social neuroscience has already provided some answers to these questions but has tended to treat high-level, cognitive interpretations of social behavior separately from the sensorimotor mechanisms upon which they rely. The goal here is to identify the underlying neural processes and mechanisms linking sensorimotor coordination and intention attribution. We combine the human dynamic clamp, a novel paradigm for studyingrealistic social behavior, with high-resolution electroencephalography. The collection of humanness and intention attribution reports, kinematics, and neural data affords an opportunity to relate brain activity to the ongoing social behavior. Behavioral results demonstrate that sensorimotor coordination influences the judgments of cooperativeness and humanness. Analysis of brain dynamics reveals two distinct networks related to the integration of visuo-motor information from self and other which overlap over the right parietal region. Furthermore, judgment of humanness and cooperation of others modulate the functional connectivity between this right parietal hub and the prefrontal cortex. These results reveal how distributed neural dynamics integrates information from “low-level” sensorimotor mechanisms and “high-level” social cognition to support the realistic social behaviors that play out in real time during interactive scenarios.

Customer loyalty, retention, and repurchase intentions give favorable outcomes for providers, and service switching and switching intentions imply unfavorable outcomes (Bansal & Taylor, 1999). The aim of this study is to investigate the determinants influencing the intention to switch internet service providers of Vietnamese consumers. Data for this study were collected from a survey of 564 Vietnamese consumers in Hanoi who have bought internet service. Through quantitative research methods with some techniques, such as Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis, the research shows that 9 factors influence the intention to switch internet service providers of Vietnamese consumers. The regression model among variables shows that influencing level clarity of the factors on the intention to switch internet service providers of Vietnamese consumers. Therefore, the empirical findings show that the intention to switch internet service providers of Vietnamese consumers has a mediating role in the relationship between service providers. The findings of this study suggest that managers need to focus on investing and researching to understand customers’ attitudes towards competitors’ products better, thereby they can proactively develop marketing programs to negatively influence the intention to switch. This article makes a new discovery about the intention to switch internet service providers for Vietnamese consumers

In last few decades, employees’ job related attitudes and behaviors have remained topics of considerable interest in the fields of organizational behavior and human resource management. This study aims to explore the impact of person-organization-fit and person-job-fit on employee turnover intention while considering psychological climate as a mediating variable. Sample for this research is consisted of 260 employees from top five commercial banks of large cities of Pakistan. SPSS 17 is used for analyzing the data. Correlation and regression analysis is used to test the direct and mediating relationship between key variables. Results indicate that both person-organization-fit and person-job-fit have negative relationship with turnover intention. Psychological climate partially mediates the relationship between person-organization-fit and turnover intention while fully mediates the relationship between person-job-fit and turnover intention.

Psychology of criminal behavior represents an active intention of a person to achieve realization of his or her criminal goal. It is expressed in consciously motivated actions aimed at achieving a specific goal, regardless of whether it corresponds to the socially dangerous consequences or not. The psyche is the central link between individual actions of a particular person and is involved in criminal activity. The unity in the regulation of these actions and behavior in general is mediated by the psyche. Our work reveals specific features of the psychological approach to the analysis of criminal behavior, the generalization of the psychological explanations of this behavior, current understanding of its factors and mechanisms, as well as the influence of internal and external factors on human behavior. Therefore, law enforcement officers should never ignore the behavior of a person, his statements, and interests when carrying out operational investigative activities. The external form of behavior of mentally ill subjects usually does not correspond to the norm; however, in some cases it does, and even professional competence could be retained. But explanations of their behavior, in particular their motives, sometimes raise doubts on their mental health. It is always important to understand the essence of a person’s act and its social and psychological significance.

Purpose: This study investigated the influence of cervical cancer knowledge, human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge, self-efficacy, and uncertainty on the intention to engage in cervical cancer preventive behavior in HPV-infected women.Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted among 129 adult women aged 20 to 65 years who received positive HPV results at a general hospital in Changwon, Korea. The dataset was analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, analysis of variance, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression.Results: The mean score for the intention to engage in cervical cancer preventive behavior was high (4.43±0.65). This intention was significantly different according to age at first sexual intercourse (F=7.38, p=.001), HPV type (F=4.79, p=.010), vaccination (t=3.19, p=.002), and condom use (t=3.03, p=.003). The intention to engage in cervical cancer preventive behavior showed significant, weak-to-moderate positive correlations with HPV knowledge (r=.22, p=.012) and self-efficacy (r=.42, p<.001). Self-efficacy (β=.46, p<.001), first sexual intercourse at <20 years (β=.45, p<.001), first sexual intercourse at 20-24 years (β=.29, p=. 018), HPV high- and low-risk group infection (β=.26, p=.019), HPV high-risk group infection (β=.26, p=.026), and vaccination (β=.21, p=.007) significantly influenced the intention to engage in cervical cancer preventive behavior. These variables explained 34.6% of variance in intention.Conclusion: Study findings support the need to develop a program that effectively conveys accurate information about cervical cancer prevention to HPV-infected women and helps them enhance self-efficacy to boost the intention to engage in cervical cancer preventive behavior.

Theoretical research on intention to leave (ITL) is an attempt to understand the elements that influence individuals' willingness to leave the organization where they work. In this context, theories such as Theory of organizational behavior, Theory of planned behavior, Theory of work life balance (WLB), Theory of Sustainable Business Practice (TSPB), Self Determination Theory (SDT), Human Resource Management (HRM), social exchange theory (SET) are often used as frameworks to explain this phenomenon. In this study, an in-depth analysis was conducted of the various factors that can influence intention to leave (ITL), data collection methods and theories underlying ITL were clearly discussed using the PRISMA method by collecting data through google scholar, researchgate and publish or perish, 220 articles were excluded and included. Data synthesis of 49 articles. The results of this study can provide valuable insights for human resource managers and practitioners in developing strategies to minimize ITL in the workplace. In addition, this theoretical study can also serve as a foundation for future empirical research to examine the relationship between these factors in a more specific context.
