Résumé :
National insurance market, which is part of the financial market is influenced by number of factors of national economy and the global economic environment. Czech Republic and Slovakia were until 1993 part of one state, after the split, both insurance markets of independent republics under the influence of various economic and social factors started to develop differently. The aim of this article is to identify commonalities and differences in the development of insurance markets in Slovakia and Czech Republic through a comparison of selected indicators. The analysis focuses on the following indicators of the insurance market: the number of commercial insurance companies, the share of life insurance premiums written on the insurance market and the concentration calculated according to the Herfindahl – Hirschman Index. Selected indicators are observed for the period during 2004 – 2014.

Résumé :
Modern information technologies has entered all spheres of human activities, public administration authorities are not exceptions. There has been significantly increasing tendency in using information and communication technologies since beginning of the century in public administration. Despite of some indicators, progress of public administration information systems is too slow. Several organizations are engaged of eGovernment assessment at the international level. We can find some variations in the methodologies that cause different ranking of some countries in international comparison. The main goal of this paper is to analyze and assess the present state of Czech Republic eGovernment with using both external indicators and internal indicators. eGovernment index, developed by United Nations, will be the main external indicator of eGovernment quality of the Czech Republic. It includes both potential for eGovernment development and its implementation, and it‘s the most complete international ranking at present. It is defined as average of the telecommunication infrastructure index, the human capital index and the web measure index. It represents overall country ability to engage and implement eGovernment. Internal ranking of the Czech Republic eGovernment will be based upon eGovernment level coefficient, that is defined as multi-dimensional model based on technology and communication facility index, Internet using index, using of public administration services by persons and companies, poviding obligatory information, existence of electronic registry on web pages, web pages accessability and language mutations. Selected statistic data are related to information society and using information technologies in public administration and were published on Czech Statistical Office or evaluated on the bases of previous years‘ development.

Résumé :
The study is aimed to establish the relationship between the indicator of the share of expenditures on alcoholic beverages in household final consumption expenditures and the value of the human development index. The object of research is the regions of the Russian Federation. The research is based on methods of the mathematical and statistical analysis of data of UNDP and Rosstat. Alcohol expenditures are decreasing in almost all regions against the background of the growth of the human development index. At the same time, half of the regions with a relatively low human development index have higher spending on alcoholic beverages and vice versa. In the Stavropol Territory and the Ivanovo Region, spending on alcoholic beverages is growing and there is a direct link with the human development index. The leaders in spending on alcoholic beverages are the Rostov Region, the Jewish Autonomous Region, the Kirov Region, the Murmansk Region, Karelia, the Kostroma Region, the Kaluga Region, the Komi Republic, the Khabarovsk Territory, and the Pskov Region. In these regions, except for Komi, against the background of high spending on alcoholic beverages, a relatively low human development index. In St. Petersburg with a high index of development, high expenditures on alcoholic beverages, in Moscow and the Republic of Tatarstan, also with a high human development index, expenditures on alcoholic beverages are average. North Ossetia, Dagestan, the Republic of Ingushetia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Chechen Republic have the lowest expenditures on alcoholic beverages among all constituent entities of Russia, but also relatively low human development index indicators. The regions with low expenditures on alcoholic beverages are also the Tambov Region, Novgorod Region, Ryazan Region, Republic of Adygea, Buryatia, Republic of Kalmykia, Republic of Altai, Magadan Region, Irkutsk Region, Ulyanovsk Region.

Résumé :
Abstract In the Republic of Macedonia, the circular economy would boost country’s agri-food sector competitiveness and help create new business and market opportunities for the farmers and processing industry. Public benefits that could accrue from the bio-economy perspective has become compelling. Nevertheless, the question arises: “At what level are we? Does the country go toward the development of the circular agriculture or not?” By using conceptual model of BPEIR (Behaviour - Pressure - Effect - Impact - Response) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, the author introduces a comprehensive analysis and quantitative evaluation of the level of Macedonian circular agriculture development. This paper discusses the fact that the Republic of Macedonia shows positive trends regarding circular economy disciplines in agriculture, given by natural geographic conditions and traditional agricultural production.

Résumé :
This paper deals with the competitiveness of regions and its possible measuring using composite indicators. Advantages of a composite index are that it summarizes more dimensions of competitiveness and the results can be comprehensibly interpreted for the public. The aims of this paper are to evaluate and compare the competitiveness of Czech regions based on the 3-Factor model. The evaluation is performed using a composite index which includes 14 partial indicators. These indicators are divided into three groups – input factors, output factors and outcome factors. Individual regions of the Czech Republic are thus first compared based on the factors and then based on the total score. The total score expresses the regional competitiveness in relation to the competitiveness of the Czech Republic as a whole. The main year evaluated is the year 2012. We also compared the results to the year 2008. The most competitive region is Prague (it does not do well in output factors only), but also the South Moravian, Central Bohemia and Pilsen regions are highly competitive. The least competitive regions are the Ústí, Karlovy Vary and Vysočina regions.

Résumé :
Complex selection indexes are proposed for bulls of Holstein cattle in the Czech Republic. Partial breeding values for milk performance, fertility and body conformation are combined in the index. Conformation is expressed either by linear classification or by general characteristics and body measurements. Variants according to the traits included in breeding objective and in performance recordingwere tested – breeding objective comprised milk, meat, milkability, health, reproduction, longevity; production traits and linear classification of body conformation or production traits and general characteristics of body conformation and/or production traits, and general characteristics of body conformation and body measurements were used as source of information (in performancerecording). For practical use is recommended the variant of reduced selection index where milkability, health and meat performance were left out from breeding objective, and production traits and linear classification of body conformation were employed as a source of information. The index guarantees 69.30% reliability of breeding value estimate and the ratio of selection effects for milk, meat and secondary traits 78 : 8 : 14. The respective importance of milk performance in total (breeding values for milk and components) of reproduction and linear body classification as sources of information in the index are 79.61%, 15.52% and 4.86%.

Résumé :
Drought (similarly as flooding) is considerably the gravest agrometeorological extreme connected with climate change and bringing the highest losses in an agricultural production. The objective of this paper is to study the spatial and temporal variability of the Aridity Index (AI) in the Czech Republic, per decade, during the 55‑year period (1961–2015). AI is a climatic index, which is important for recording of the drought phenomenon evolution. The climatic data used, include monthly precipitation totals and air temperature from 120 meteorological stations operated by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. The potential evapotranspiration was calculated based on the modified algorithm Penman‑Monteith. The data processing was done by the statistical tools of Microsoft Excel and the Geographical Information Systems (Clidata GIS, ArcGIS 10). The results of the analysis showed, that during the decade 1961–1970, almost the whole area of the Czech Republic is classified as “wet” with AI values ranging above 0.60, but over the next years (1971–2015), areas of the south Moravia (e.g. Dyjsko‑svratecký ravine, Valticko‑lednický area, surroundings of Brno city), and also Prague city and Poohří river basin shifted gradually to “sub‑humid” climate zone with AI < = 0.60. Especially, during the pre‑last decade of the study period 1991–2000.

Résumé :
This paper aimed at analysing the influence of monetary aggregate M3 on consumer price index (CPI) in the Czech Republic. Cointegrating this selected indicator M3 is demonstrated in relation to the development of CPI using the Engle – Granger cointegration test. These tests are applied to selected statistical data from the years 2003 to 2016. After using the Akaike criteria for all-time series, we analysed a unit root using the Dickey–Fuller test. If the time series are non-stacionary, testing is then continued with the Engle–Granger test to detect cointegration relations. Based on these tests, it is found that at a significance level of 0.05, a cointegration relationship between M3 and CPI in the Czech Republic does not exist. Conclusions resulting from the verification of the hypotheses are supported with graphical visualisation of data from which it is apparent that these hypotheses can be rejected. Résumé :
The main focus of our work was to collect basic body measurements of donkey population in Czech republic and determine the factors that influence these body measurements and hipometric indexes. The following measurements were recorded: height at withers, chest circumference and metacarpus interference. Based on the collected data, we were able to calculate the hipometric indexes: index of boniness, skeleton strength index, body mass index and coup height index. From a total of 331 individuals of donkey species living in Czech republic we managed to collect 50 samples. These were subjected to a general linear model (GLM) and multiplex comparison statistical analysis. We managed to prove a statistically significant difference between donkeys born in Czech republic and the ones born abroad for all the measurements. Specifically the metacarpus circumference the gender dependency was also proved, having its impact on the hipometric indexes as well; the boniness index and skeleton strength index were also proved to be gender – dependent.

Résumé :
AbstractAgriculture of the Republic of Serbia is a significant economic branch, due to the specifics of production, tradition and because of the enormous potential that it holds for improving competitive performance and development of the national economy. For this reason, in all strategic documents agriculture is recognised as a vital branch for the development of the national economy, which can be achieved by an increase in productivity and greater foreign exchange, especially with the neighbouring countries. Bearing in mind that agricultural food products represent a very important part of foreign trade of the Republic of Serbia with the countries of the Western Balkans, the goal of the research is to point out the comparative advantages of the Republic of Serbia in the exchange of agricultural and food products with the countries in the region, by applying the Balassa index. The realisation of the principal objective of the research was carried out using the methods of comparative advantage, historical method, trends method, methods of analysis and synthesis. The results of research show that the Republic of Serbia has distinct comparative advantages in relation to the countries in the Western Balkans, with the exception of the Republic of Croatia. The key contribution of this paper lies in providing a clearer insight into the comparative advantages of the Republic of Serbia in foreign trade with the countries in the region, as well as pointing out the priority directions of activities of competent authorities in order to intensify. the agricultural export, especially high quality and products at a higher level of processing.

Résumé :
The objective of this study is vulnerability and exposer intensity due to land use change in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Vulnerability assessment with exposer intensity to land use/cover change is an important step for enhancing the understanding and decision-making to reduce vulnerability. This study work includes quantification of Exposure Index (EI), Sensitivity Index (SI) and Adaptive Capacity Index (AI). EI is based on intensity of land use/cover change, SI and AI based on natural factors such as elevation, slope, vegetation and land use/cover. Vulnerability Index (VI) derived on the quantification of SI and AI and compared from 1991, 2001 and 2013. Comparing of EI and VI for last three decades, settlements have highest vulnerability index due to high socio-economic activities and water have lowest vulnerability index due to less human interferences. Agriculture has highest exposer index and second highest vulnerability, which show its high rate of exploitation and production. In the study areas, vulnerability tends to increase with the increase of exposure to land use change, but can peak off once the land use start to benefit socio-economically from development. Only in this way we can enhance the adaptive capacity of study area to use change of land.

Résumé :
New original results are presented on relation between passenger’s whole-body vibration (WBV) and longitudinal road unevenness characterised by the International Roughness Index (IRI) in 100-m segments. Measurements were provided in nine different cars of six vehicle categories operated on about 1860 km of road network. Vibration total value based on the root mean square (RMS) of the frequency-weighted acceleration was used to quantify the ride comfort at seat surface and seat base (i.e. vehicle floor) in three orthogonal axes. The relations between passenger’s acceleration response, comfort reaction levels according to the ISO 2631-1: 1997 and the IRI road unevenness classes, used by the Slovak Road Administration, were estimated. Results indicated higher WBV by ~ 20 % on the motorways than on the 1st and 2nd class roads in the same IRI road class. Using the same IRI road classes for motorways and the 1st and 2nd class roads seems not to be appropriate from the point of view of the whole-body vibrations.

Aim. The aim of this study was to present the country rank, journal rank and H-index in the field of medicine in the Republic of Macedonia (1996-2008) using data from SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SCImago).Material and Methods. SCImago database was used for analysis of country rank, journal rank and H-index in the Republic of Macedonia and other former Yugoslav countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro) for the period of 1996-2008, as they are presented in the Scopus database.Results. Of a total number of 222 countries for the period of 1996-2008, the Republic of Macedonia with H-index of 20 is placed on the 118th position of the country rank, the percentage of citable documents in the field of medicine is 88.92%, and the percentage of relative production of documents in the world is below 0.01. In 2008, Macedonian biomedical journal Prilozi is ranked on the 2484th place with 0.048 SJR of citable documents in the last three years. The biggest H-index of 10, for the period between 2007and 2008, in the Republic of Macedonia had nephrology subject category, followed by medicine (miscellaneous) with H-index of 7, haematology and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism with H-index of 6, transplantation, oncology and pathology and forensic medicine with H-index of 5.Conclusion. There is only one Macedonian biomedical journal (Prilozi, Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Section of Biological and Medical Sciences) included in the Scopus database for the period between 1996 and 2008, probably by mistake in the list of journals from Serbia, instead from the Republic of Macedonia. The priority task of the Editorial Boards of other Macedonian medical journals is to include their journals in the Scopus database.

Résumé :
The article is focused on the evaluation and comparison of the international competitiveness of the Visegrad countries – four countries Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. The article consists of four chapters. The first chapter is focused on a short introduction to the issue. The second chapter briefly describes the methodology used in writing the article. It analyzes in detail the individual parts and subindices of the Global Competitiveness Index. The third chapter evaluates the specific values of the index which the countries of Visegrad four achieved from 2010 to 2018. The fourth chapter focuses on assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the countries’ competitiveness. It also contains a proposal for the future direction of states. The concept of global competitiveness is increasingly being used to assess many different methods and indices in comparing countries. One of the best known indices is the Global Competitiveness Index, which is compiled annually by the World Economic Forum. It assesses how countries achieve and maintain economic growth and how business of every country is influenced by competitiveness. Higher quality of financial reports makes companies more competitiveness and motivate investors to put money into them.

Résumé :
The goal of the paper is to propose a methodological approach to evaluation of regional disparities, which is based on a comparison of life quality in each regions of the Czech Republic. Life quality in regions is influenced e.g. by natural, social-cultural and economical conditions or rather fields. This approach to evaluation of regional disparities is grounded in forming of summary index of development potential of the region. This index includes evaluation of life quality in all three above mentioned fields. Summary index of development potential also allows determine the ranking of regions from the view of life quality.Compiling of partial indexes comes before determination of summary index of development potential of the region. Partial indexes enable to evaluate development potential of certain regions in the field of natural resources, social and cultural resources and in the field of economic efficiency. Results of disparities evaluation in regions of the Czech Republic indicate relatively great disparities among individual regions. Evaluation of summary index of development potential evidently shows on significant position of the Capital of Prague and Central Bohemian region. Opposite position have primarily Karlovy Vary Region and Olomouc Region.

Résumé :
The article examines the issues of security and protection of the consumer's rights of tourist services. The relevance of the chosen direction of research is due to the rapid increase in the number of trips of citizens, increasing the number of threats (terrorism, civil wars, political conflicts, revolutions, epidemics, natural disasters), which are becoming more destructive and less predictable. The purpose of the study is to analyze the current position of Armenia in international rankings and indices that assess the state of tourism safety and security. The study used methods of descriptive statistics, observation, comparison, and questionnaires. The information base of the study was data from international ratings and indices (Competitiveness Index in Travel and Tourism, Global Peace Index, Global Terrorism Index), as well as the results of a survey on the level of tourist satisfaction with services in Armenia. It is substantiated that the tourism industry helps to increase foreign exchange earnings, intensifies investment activities, influences the creation of new jobs, as well as promotes a positive image of the state in the international arena. The analysis of the rating positions of Armenia in different international reports allows us to say about its safety and security for travelers. The results of the survey indicate that about 87% of tourists consider Armenia a safe country and are satisfied with the quality of tourist services in this country. It is proposed to improve the national migration and visa policy, to promote Armenia as a safe destination for tourists and to develop international cooperation in the field of tourism. The results of the study can be useful for public administration, the private sector, as well as for researchers in the tourism industry. Keywords: tourism, safety, security, terrorism, crime, Armenia.

Résumé :
Nowadays are known many indexes, which are rating specific countries by their performance in chosen areas. This work will be concentrated on the brands of countries valuated by brand indexes. For purposes of job we have chosen the Future Brand Country Index in order to achieve the most objective result of comparison between Slovak Republic and Great Britain. Although they are known certain number of indexes, factors used in Future Brand Country Index are considered by us as the best suitable for this work. This index valuates strength of perception of the country brand across certain dimensions, which are Value System, Quality of Life, Business Potential, Heritage and Culture, Tourism and Made in. These dimensions consist of numerous associations with specific country which will be specified later. Purpose of our work is to analyse results of Slovak republic and Great Britain, their position in Future Brand Index in 2014 and in 2019 and find reasons of their improvement or deterioration. Since Future Brand Index does not publish data and analyses of these countries, our work will be concentrated on analysing key dimensions of index which could affect position of chosen countries in Future Brand index.

Résumé :
The performance of fire indices based on weather variables was analyzed with a special focus on the Czech Republic. Three fire weather danger indices that are the basis of fire danger rating systems used in different parts of the world were assessed: the Canadian Fire Weather Index (FWI), Australian Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) and Finnish Forest Fire Index (FFI). The performance of the three fire danger indices was investigated at different scales and compared with actual fire events. First, the fire danger indices were analyzed for different land use types during the period 1956–2015. In addition, in the analysis, the three fire danger indices were compared with wildfire events during the period 2001–2015. The fire danger indices were also analyzed for the specific locality of the Bzenec area where a large forest fire event occurred in May 2012. The study also focused on the relationship between fire danger indices and forest fires during 2018 across the area of the Jihomoravský region. Comparison of the index values with real fires showed that the index values corresponded well with the occurrence of forest fires. The analysis of the year 2018 showed that the highest index values were reached on days with the greater fire occurrence. On days with 5 or 7 reported fires per day, the fire danger indices reached values between 3 and 4.

Résumé :
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer mortality in women worldwide. The epidemiological picture of BC among the population of the Crimea Republic is analyzed with a comparative evaluation with nation-wide rates. According to the presented data the incidence of BC in the Crimea Republic has a clear upward trend. Incidence growth is mainly due to the female population among the «employable» contingent that requires regular clinical examination and screening these patients. In prognostic estimates by 2020 the incidence rates of BC in female population will increase by 10 % compared to 2015. The increase of the prevalence, contingent accumulation index, the proportion of patients experiencing more than 5 years, and reduction in mortality of the observed patient cohort shows better results of BC treatment in the Crimea Republic as compared to the All-Russian data.

Résumé :
The paper presents the results of the research revealing the economic activity of the population of Asia-Pacific countries (The Republic of Korea, Japan, the Russian Federation, and the People’s Republic of China) who have a high human development index. The data of the paper were received with the help of the methodology developed by the International Labour Organization. The authors have come to the conclusion that countries with a high human development index are characterized by the average level of the economic activity of the population (not exceeding 65%). This level allows a person or a household to have the income which is enough to provide high living standards, invest into human capital assets, and raise the human development index. Consequently, the economic activity of the population makes provisions for human development which in turn refi nes the quality and eff ectiveness of the country’s manpower.

Résumé :
Over the past few decades, the Earth’s climate has undergone conspicuous changes, some of which have a profound impact on social and governmental systems. The purpose of this paper is to establish a model for measuring national fragile and the impact of climate change on a country. For this purpose, we first define the Fragile States Index (FSI) to measure the fragility of a country based on population, crime rate and education, which are the three aspects that most countries or regions will focus on. Second, we use the FSI to illustrate how climate change affects the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Third, we analyze the definitive indicators of Indonesia and predict the changes of FSI. Finally, the effects of each intervention policy were obtained by analyzing Indonesia’s intervention policy on environmental change. To provide ideas for intervention on climate change.

Résumé :
The Framework Programmes for research and technological development (FPs) are very important instruments fostering the growth of the European Union’s potential needed to achieve breakthrough solutions to urgent and difficult problems that are unlikely to be properly tackled at the level of individual national research and development systems. The FPs mainly support projects with considerable “European added value” that stem from transnational collaboration in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I). However, attempts to measure the collaboration [1, 8] are still rather rare and usually based on analysing project results. This article deals with a simple index [2, 3], which might be interpreted as representing the value of “collaborative potential” of EU member countries. Namely, for each given country the index quantifies the ability of its teams to collaborate in transnational consortia with teams from the most prestigious European scientific institutions. Since the “standard” indicators used in FP assessment characterize the participation of member countries in FP7 rather than quantitatively analyse their collaboration [4, 1], the proposed index should complement the usual studies focused on analysing per country participation in FP7. This article confirms the low participation of Czech (CZ) teams in FP7, which was discussed in many previous studies. However, we want to argue that the participating CZ teams collaborate with teams from premier European institutions more intensively than teams from many other member countries.

More than fifteen years ago, through the benchmarking method, the United Nations began to carry out a survey of the electronisation level of public administration - e-government. Three areas of its level – online services, telecommunication infrastructure and human capital - have been summarized into a single index called E-government Development Index (EGDI). The main objective of this research was to provide an overview of the current status of the Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in EGDI development and compare the level of this index. The results show firstly that the monitored group of countries are placed at the end of EU ranking and secondly that while Poland has improved its level, the Czech Republic is lagging behind.

Résumé :
The relationship between detrended district yields of spring barley (1961&minus;2000) and meteorological drought was assessed by Palmer Z-index. We found that the seasonal water balance (April&minus;June) significantly (<i>P</i> = 0.05) influences the spring barley production in 51 out of 62 evaluated districts. Coefficients of correlation varied in individual districts from 0.19 to 0.70, with the highest values being found in southern Moravia. Data analysis revealed the presence of six distinct groups of districts with a specific drought-yield relationship. The most drought-sensitive cluster included five districts in the South East of the country. On the other hand, the districts in Northern Moravia and Silesia belong among the least sensitive to agricultural drought. The study also defined threshold values of seasonal drought (sums of relative Palmer Z-index lower than &minus;8 and &minus;10, respectively), below which medium to severe spring barley yield reductions are very likely, regardless of the district of occurrence.

Résumé :
Industry 4.0 includes digital process transformation, information technology (IT) development, mobile devices, learning software, automation, and robotics, as well as intelligent sensors to collect large datasets, store, analyze, and use them in business, including simulation, virtual reality, and digital twins. The aim of the paper is to characterize the readiness of the enterprise to use Industry 4.0. In the research, a questionnaire survey was carried out on a sample of 276 enterprises mainly from the manufacturing industry. Using explorative factor analysis, the index of Industry 4.0 (VPi4) was designed to determine the level of Industry 4.0 implementation in the enterprises. The results were further verified by a statistical analysis, using Mann–Whitney test and correlation coefficients. The results indicate that the VPi4 index was consistent in terms of distribution when comparing the results on the verification sample. Its results correlate with the subjective perception of the enterprises, and different levels of the index reflect the difference in technological intensity of the industry. The VPi4 index enables the enterprises to determine their own level of current state of readiness for Industry 4.0, to better prioritize business development. The proposed solution categorizes Industry 4.0 components into a useful theoretical framework. Further research offers the possibility of applying the index in other sectors, its relation to the size of enterprises, and updating with respect to new trends in information technology.

Résumé :
Abstract The article assesses well-being in the Czech Republic compared to other Visegrad countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland) and neighbouring Germany and Austria. By employing various approaches designed by several international organisations it takes an aggregate perspective to assess both the current well-being and its sustainability into the future. All employed indicators that relate to current well-being evaluate the well-being in the Czech Republic as moderate among the OECD countries. The results indicate that the position in well-being rankings improves with the growing number of dimensions or subjective factors included in the well-being measure, mainly due to the reduction in relative importance of income dimension and higher emphasis on the multidimensionality and complexity of well-being. In the case of sustainability, large differences can be identified in evaluation stemming from Happy Planet Index and Sustainable Society Index perspective. Although both of them agree on unfavourable situation as regards environmental sustainability in the Czech Republic, different accent on economic area alters the final result substantially. The analysis shows that for any well-being assessment, the choice of indicators is crucial and a large portion of caution is necessary when interpreting these.

Résumé :
The aim of the presented article is to evaluate the impact of climate change on the sugar content of grapes in the Czech Republic during the period 2000–2019 through selected indicators on the basis of available secondary sources. Attention is focused on the developments in both the main wine-growing regions of Moravia and Bohemia. In the field of viticulture and wine-growing, the sugar content of grapes, as a basic parameter for the classification of wines, plays an important role. In the Czech Republic, the average sugar content of grapes has had a constantly growing trend. This trend is evident both in the wine-growing region of Bohemia and in the wine-growing region of Moravia. The impact of climate change, especially the gradual increase of average temperatures in the growing season, cannot be overlooked. It greatly affects, among other things, the sugar content of grapes. Calculations according to the Huglin Index and the Winkler Index were used to determine the relationship between climate and sugar content. These indexes summarize the course of temperatures during the entire vegetation period into a single numerical value. The results show that both indexes describe the effect of air temperature on sugar content in both wine regions of the Czech Republic in a statistically significant way. The Huglin Index shows a higher correlation rate. The Winkler Index proved to be less suitable for both areas. Alternatively, the Winkler Index calculated for a shorter growing season was tested, which showed a higher degree of correlation with sugar content, approaching the significance of the Huglin Index.
