Texte intégralBuilding on the epistemology of situated knowledge, this research draws from the perspective of care and is based on reflections on domestic work that is effaced from dominant social representations. The study was carried out by means of participant observation and, on the outlook of an auto-socio-analysis, relied on interviews that accompanied the process of transition of status, namely, from au pair to nounou experienced by Brazilian women in Paris and in its outskirts. The research offers sets of tools aiming to raise awareness of the difficulties in identifying oneself with and as a domestic worker, and sheds light on the need of social distinction that hinders recognition of the work of care. The group under scrutiny distinguishes itself from representations of domestic workers in that the care activities it performs is recognized as a vector and not as a fate. One of the implications of this is reflected in the higher level of social mobility enjoyed by the group when compared to other nannies who are encapsulated within social representations of care domestic workers
Monnot, Catherine. « "Une musique de jeune fille" ? : apprentissage instrumental et construction du féminin ». Paris, EHESS, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010EHES0443.
Texte intégralIn France and most of industrialized countries, learning to play is a cultural pastime which concerns mostly girls and follows specific modalities, both in terms of the instruments chosen and the types done. This doctoral thesis looks at the processes of construction of sexual identity in young female musicians and their influence in learning traditional gender roles. This study is based on an ethnographical field survey in two different musical establishment in addition to affliated amateur bands. Observations and interviews followed thirty-some young people of both sexes aged 7-21. This thesis proncipally explores the way in which girls are specifically introduced to and then kept in this musical universe, thus the role played by the culture. This study then tries to discover gender norms that girls assimilate through this parctice, the multiple ways in which they immerse themselves in it, but also the limits of this embodiment and the way they may transform and rebuild sexual identities. Finally, this study looks at other forms of sexual learning that these young female musicians achieve in their everyday lives, particularly among peers and through the media, and which exist alongside (and even compete with) feminine musical norms

Texte intégralWhatever their theorical divergences are, all the writers who studied into anorexia noticed the christlike imaginery contempt of the flesh and mastery of the body by the mind. Here lies what we could call the manifesto of anorexia. Given this acknowledgement, I questioned the body-mind dichotomy that since plato's time has filtered into western philosophy history. A) philosophical point of view b) anorexia symptomatology c) the history of anorexia clinical study the purpose of psychoanalytical study - philosophy interaction consists in discovering facts about the original violence (original as regards the story of the patient but from a cultural point as well), and the anorexic patient by forcing himself echoes a response to us. It doesn't seem pointless to question ourselves about the value of our conceptual goods, thence the idea of that interaction. Anorexia, then, after a first analysis, appears as the mise en scene of the body-mind dichotomy, born from an old dream of human beings to master their instincts. It soon comes to light that this mise en scene is that of a questioning about simulacrum, lure, masquerade. When we know that no human being can escape the boomerang effect engendered by his reflexive nature, it seems suitable to question the anorexic masquerade, what simulacrum it covers. Thence a research turned into bringing to light an innate fantasy that could be detected in every case of anorexia

Texte intégralThe feminine characters'analysis in the orestie, their insertion in ritual gestures and their function in the drama's schooe emphisize the existence of the young maid's tragical identity whose qualities are to be studied by comparison with the young maids from the homeric past and with from the barbarian countries described by herodot. The hippocratic practitisner's speech, as well as the stele express the recognition of the virginal group altogether with the negation of the wife. As for the social position given to the maid, it involves challenging and tutelling powers. In fact, the dowry's study and the family alliances show the father's determination to govern his descent by his daugther's wedding as well as the matrimonial strategie's mutation on the political level. It is necessary that the young maid stay out of the seduction's territory so as to show that the guilty adultery is love and death's trap. Because the delictious deed has in athena, an exceptional importance and political, indeed. The character's signification maid or sister can also be understood in relation with an isonomic society which fears that the young maid, who is the father's authority's mirror and instrument, could be used as a vanishing power's concept and a potential threat of discord. Against that danger, is the sister, auxiliary and peaceful agent, because she has no erotic link. Athena, divine young maid, poliad divinity, gathers the naked signs of a recognition which is like a civic identity

Texte intégralAt the end of the 19th century, the character of the girl becomes a social and literary topic, the complexity of which never stops questionning the minds. A crucial point for the character, the question of virginity returns insistently during the ten years of her life. For the girl seems to hide behind the character of the virgin, even melting herself in the latter. The likeness between girl and virgin implies of course the physical purity of the character but goes much further. It encompasses in fact her entire being : her spirit, her soul, her material self. We found it interesting to understand what the word " virginity " meant, a concept in fashion at the time, which turned out to be complex under scrutiny. Where this virginity laid, what were its pretence, what was really at stake? We also strove to know how virginity nurtured on the ancestral link between girl and death -link that the period, fascinated by death, borrowed from Romanticism, and what new meanings, likely to enlighten the destiny of young contemporaries and also of artistic creation, virginity gave to this relationship

Texte intégralThe main aim of this study was to evaluate the intensive gymnastic training effects on the somatic and bone developments in a population of peripebertal females. Intensive impact loading exercise is known to improve the skeletal bone mass probably by a mechanical action on the skeleton. It can also act on hormonal and biochemical changes. This longitudinal study has assessed the somatic and bone dvelopments in young female gymnasts compared to a control group in prepuberty. By means of a cross-sectional study we have also compared the two groups and evaluated the training effects on urinary androgens (testosterone, androstenedione, S-DHEA) and cortisol rates. The response of the bone turnover(CTx) has also been studied. The main results were : 1)intensive impact loading exercise improve the bone mass accretion. 2)the chronic gymnastic training has no effect(s) on the somatic growth in prepubertal gymnasts, 3) intensive gymnastics seems to modify only urinary androstenedione concentration, 4) chronic gymnastic training seems to stimulate the bone resorption. Intensive gymnastic training carried out during puberty appears to improve the bone mass and density in our female subjects. The mechanism of the bone remodelling is probably involved in such phenomenom. Furthermore, intensive training does not seem to influence androgens and cortisol excretions that could act on the bone mass accretion

Texte intégralLe deuxième sexe and Mémoires d’une jeune fille rangée are two books written by a philosopher. The purpose of this work is to show the difference between the two writings. The difference is not so radical as one could think. A study of the handwritings of these books shows that their divergences arise from their origins. In this short study, we detailed most of the characteristics of each of these two works. The literary genres are different, one is an essay, and the other is an autobiography. A few critics think that these two genres are linked. They both have such literary characteristics that it can look like poetic features. At last, this study shows that, in spite of their differences, they have common traits, and complement one another

Texte intégralIn this work, we study an emblematic figure of feminism: Simone deBeauvoir. It traces her life, her journey, her intellectual awakening as well ashow she managed to extract herself from her bourgeois life. How does Simonede Beauvoir manage to emancipate herself ? To answer this initial question,we will analyze the emancipation of women and the mechanics ofemancipation through writing. Indeed, Simone de Beauvoir was born andraised in an environment that held her slave to taboos and macho practices. This prevents her from taking on as a woman. She then chooses a path and adestination for her emancipatory process : to write about herself to free herself,to be assimilated, but also to write about herself to talk about women towomen, to talk about the female condition in humanity. This strategy for whichshe has opted is undoubtedly a success because, to this day, Simone deBeauvoir is a leading figure in women's emancipation. She is, and remains, anicon in the field of female skiming and the study of the Memoirs of a Tidy Girlreveals that Simone de Beauvoir's emancipation is through the prism ofwriting.

Thesis, Växjö University, School of Humanities, 2004. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:vxu:diva-1144.
Texte intégralIn the end of the 18th century, the first French autobiographical work was written by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Almost 200 years later, the two French authors and philosophers Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre published their autobiographies. Beauvoir released her Mémoires d’une jeune fille rangée in 1958 and Sartre published Les Mots in 1964. The audience has both loved and criticized the two works. Especially the autobiography of Jean-Paul Sartre was expected for a very long time, thanks to the fact that he had told his audience he would write a work about his life. As the authors lived together during a big part of their lives, it is especially interesting to study the resemblances and the differences of their way of writing and also of the contents of the autobiographies.
The purpose of this literary essay is to make a comparison between the two autobiographies, examining the order of narrative, the reasons for writing, the chronology and the interest in children’s literature. The analysis is primarily based on the theorist Philippe Lejeune’s work concerning the autobiographical pact and the identity of name.
Researches made by French critics claim that the autobiographical work of Beauvoir and Sartre differ. One of these critics is Philippe Lejeune. This analysis will show that, even if there is a difference between sex, family and the reasons for writing, there are many resemblances, some of them more or less expected than others. It will also show that both authors resemble when it comes to choice of memories, order of narrative and literary background. The analysis also puts the presence of the autobiographical pact under the light.

Texte intégralThe purpose of this thesis is to study the education of young girls within a class of society which extolled them as the very paragons of their sex. The analysis of the principles of this education and its material organization, as well as of the intellectual and ethical moulding of the "damsel" and her training at social life draws from a variety of sources - such as written works or documents which are specific expressions of women and the feminine world (letters, conversations, memories, memoirs, records, newspapers): texts inspired by religion or the church (convent rules, statutes and constitutions, converses, counsels and advice); works aiming more especially at some form of education (plays, tales, novels, gazettes, charades). . . In short the whole study tends to demonstrate how the permanence of a grand design purporting to bring up and train the "damsel" in such ways as to eventually establish and maintain her as a model or mythical mirror of the ideal feminity was insured throughout a long period of French history running from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries

Texte intégralThis thesis aims to study the return of the Greek tragedy into French theatre in the twentieth century, and to understand the significance applied to the Tragedy in the twentieth century focusing on some female figures. In this research, the following five French playwrights, authors of plays were chosen because they were inspired by characters of Greek Tragedy: Jean Giraudoux, Jean Anouilh, Jean Cocteau, Jean-Paul Sartre and André Gide. The return of Greek themes in French plays over the years shows us indeed just how valuable these finite sources of information and reference actually are and how much of an inspiration they have been. For this reason mainly, authors such as those mentioned above have not stopped bringing these old characters back to life in their plays. There is not any specific link with old civilization; it is but a look at the founding myths of the humanistic thinking. In terms of the methodology, work done in the 20th century with relation to classic Greek themes/ tragedy genre, has been selected specifically as a tool of studying more recent French theatre. The role played by these female characters in these plays has not been analyzed or looked at before in detail using this quantity of authors as a sample, making this thesis unique and an interesting contribution to the field. This study looks more deeply into the change or shift that took place when considering the role/character played by women in these plays, through the eyes of these male authors. After determining these distinctive female characters and their personalities and attitudes, the relationship between men and women can be analyzed and particular relationships, divided into 3 sections, namely will be analyzed and discussed: - Role and relationship of female characters from a political system perspectiveThis thesis will aim to conclude that the identity and status associated to female characters, for several centuries have been significantly less than the status of men, and more specifically in these olden Greek plays from the 20th century. The study predicts that in light of the recent changes and developments undergone by new French play writers, inspired by classic Greek genre has led to a paradigm shift and drastic improvement in the identity and status associated to the Female characters in these plays
Gilles, Florent. « Soumission, révolte, sexualité : l'éducation des jeunes filles de Mme de Lafayette à Sade ». Thesis, Reims, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016REIML006/document.
Texte intégralThis thesis deals with how to define the literary report of the nubile young girl breaking into the world and its link to the historical, social and cultural reality in the end of the 17th century and 18th century. How the fictional model of the young girl and the reality interfere in each other? With the help of " gender studies", we will take interest in literature as an active participant of the cultural construction of genres , and in this era as the birth of a kind of feminism. The young girls missing or deliberately incomplete education , appears as a foundation course to the future enslaved condition of woman of this era, to the role given to the feminin gender by society. The word education is to be understood in a larger way: intellectual education, moral education but also sentimental and sexual education. From this perspective, our corpus joins together three types of works, really different works, in order to have an overview on this phenomenon: moral and major works, loose and minor works, and works of female yet successful writers from the 18th century
