Physiological and biochemical responses of six different rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties cultivated in Turkey and two local varieties, namely Karacadağ and Hazro to the drought were investigated. After 12 days of drought treatment, the highest and lowest OP values were observed in Osmancık-97 (-1.14 MPa) and Karacadağ (-1.55 MPa) varieties, respectively. A geochronological and isotope-geochemical study of alkaline basalts from three areas of young magmatism within the northeastern part of the Arabian Plate (Southeastern Turkey), Batman, Kurtalan and Alemdağ, was carried out. Extensive continental collision-related volcanism occurred in Turkey during Neogene–Quaternary times. In central Anatolia, calc-alkaline to alkaline volcanism began in the Middle–Late Miocene. Here we report trace elemental and isotopic data from Quaternary age samples from central and eastern Anatolia.
