Couple stress theory is used in the prediction of the size of the kink band width that occurs in the compressive failure of a fiber composite by microbuckling. The composite is assumed to be inextensible in the fiber direction, and to deform as a Ramberg-Osgood solid in shear and in transverse tension. AbstractThe kink behavior of vascular stents is of particular interest for clinicians, stent manufacturers and regulatory as a kinked stent generates a lumen loss in the stented vessel and can lead to in-stent restenosis. In this study methods to determine the kink resistance of stents and stent delivery systems according to the ISO 25539-2 and FDA guidance no. 1545 were presented. On the terbium antimonide TbSb polycrystals, the dependences of the magnetization M and the resistance R on the temperature T in the range of 2 ÷ 300 K and on the magnetic field H up to H = 14 T have been studied. On the dependences M (H) at each temperature, a feature (kink) was observed associated with the metamagnetic phase transition.
