Résumé :
Multifocal acquired demyelinating sensory and motor neuropathy (MADSAM), a subtype of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, is a non-compressive peripheral nerve disorder. Symptoms of MADSAM include asymmetrical weakness and sensory deficits in the distribution of individual peripheral nerves, which are frequently noted in the distal portion of peripheral nerves. MADSAM can be easily misdiagnosed as any of the various compressive peripheral neuropathies. Here, we present a case of MADSAM misdiagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Introduction. Similar asymmetric patterns of motor disorders and neurophysiological changes complicate the differential diagnosis between multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) and multifocal acquired demyelinating sensory and motor neuropathy (MADSAM) as two chronic dysimmune neuropathies with significantly different treatment approaches. The lack of specific paraclinical markers often result in misdiagnosis and selection of ineffective specific therapy. The 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3(1,25- [OH]2VD3) modulates the differentiation of monocytic cell lines and monocytes (MOs) in vitro. Up to now several target genes of 1,25(OH)2VD3have been described in monocytic cell lines; however, little is known about target genes in primary MOs. With the Differential Display technique, we found a transcript up-regulated by 1,25(OH)2VD3 in short-term cultured human blood MOs, which we called MADDAM (metalloprotease and disintegrin dendritic antigen marker; EMBL/GenBank/DDBJ accession no. Y13786). Northern blot analysis confirmed this result and revealed a sign

Résumé :
Abstract The leukocyte integrin receptor, alpha 4 beta 7, and the mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1) are postulated to be important in regulating lymphocyte trafficking to normal intestine. Here we provide the first description of MAdCAM-1 expression in inflamed intestine. Using mouse models of experimentally induced colitis, we show a concordant increase in MAdCAM-1 expression associated with increased cellular infiltrates in areas of intestinal inflammation. To understand more of the molecular nature of the interactions between MAdCAM-1 and its leukocyte ligand, the alpha

Résumé :
Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1) is a homing receptor preferentially expressed on gut-associated endothelial cells that plays a central role in leukocyte traffic into the mucosal immune compartment. Although the molecular mechanisms underlying endothelial ICAM-1 or E-selectin expression have been intensively investigated, the mechanisms that regulate human MAdCAM-1 expression have not been defined. We report MAdCAM-1 gene and protein expression in primary cultures of human intestinal microvascular endothelial cells (HIMEC) that was not demonstrated in human umbilical vein

Abstract The mucosal vascular addressin, MAdCAM-1, is an Ig family adhesion receptor preferentially expressed by venular endothelial cells at sites of lymphocyte extravasation in mucosal lymphoid tissues and lamina propria. MAdCAM-1 binds the lymphocyte homing receptor for Peyer's patches, the integrin alpha 4 beta 7. We describe a point mutation within the first Ig domain of MAdCAM-1 that abolishes activation-independent alpha 4 beta 7 binding. This point mutation resides within an eight-amino acid motif with homology to sequences important for the integrin binding ability of the related vasc

AbstractThe Tale of The Man Who Disappeared: Study of Root Word and Meaning of Madam in Banjarese Migration Tradition. This article examines the tradition of Banjarese migration called madam. The background of the article starts from the problem that there is no study on the Banjarese migration that focuses on discussing the etymology and meaning of madam. This issue indicates that the fundamentals in understanding the madam tradition have not been well developed. Based on this background, the purpose of this article is to conduct a comprehensive research on the study of the etimological root

Plaque psoriasis (PSO) and lichen planus (LP) are skin diseases with some similarities in pathogenesis, comorbidities, and clinical presentation. Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1) and its ligand, α4β7 integrin, are involved in inflammatory bowel diseases and liver dysfunctions, which occur more frequently in PSO and LP. Serum MAdCAM-1 and ITGB7 levels in patients with plaque PSO and eruptive LP have never been studied before. The study included 42 patients with PSO, 13 with LP, and 23 controls. Serum molecules levels were evaluated using the immune–enzymatic method. ITGB7 c

The paper analyzes the meaning of expressions (terms) 'comrade' and 'mister', especially with respect to established socio-political orders. What is at issue are the differences between communicative communities based on different mutual understandings among citizens by using expressions 'comrade' and 'mister', i.e. female 'comrade' and 'madam' ('miss'), within the framework of certain semiotic code or codes. Special emphasis is put on the ambivalences of communist ideology regarding the mandatory introduction of 'comrade' as the only permitted form of address ('we are all comrades'), while th

Abstract HIV-1 preferentially infects α4β7+ CD4+ T cells, causing irreversible depletion of these cells in gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) during the acute phase of infection. α4β7 mediates homing of CD4+ T cells to GALT through an interaction with mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1), expressed on gut endothelial venules. In a rhesus macaque model of HIV transmission, administration of an anti-α4β7 mAb protected GALT from SIV infection. The mechanism(s) underlying this protection are poorly understood. We hypothesized that the anti-α4β7 mAb prevents MAdCAM mediated co-s

Abstract Follicular dendritic cells (FDC) in the mucosal lymphoid organs, Peyer's patches (PP), display mucosal vascular addressin-cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1). MAdCAM-1 decorates interlacing dendritic cells throughout PP follicles and is accentuated on FDC of the germinal center (GC) light zone and on "junctional" dendritic cells overlapping the B/T border and subepithelial dome region, sites associated with microenvironmental homing decisions. In contrast, MAdCAM-1 is rarely displayed by coronal or junctional FDC in peripheral lymph node follicles and is largely confined to the GC aft
