Résumé :
This study evaluates the suitability of Calophyllum inophyllum L. buds as a substitute for Mesua ferrea L. stamens (Nagkesar), a valued botanical in Indian traditional medicine. Economic pressures and regional availability often lead to unverified substitutions, raising concerns about therapeutic consistency. To address this, both samples were subjected to comprehensive analyses using Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscopy (FEGSEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and High-Reso

Résumé :
The objective of our present study is to investigate the immunosuppressive activity of variable doses of crude flavonoids (6.25-100 mg/ml; 50 µl) extracted from the leaves of Mesua ferrea, Ficus benghalensis and Jasminum auriculatum on human whole blood using specific antigen (i.e. hepatitis B vaccine containing surface antigen, 20 µg/ml; 10 µl) is to estimate its blood counts, CD14 monocyte marker and observed its cytotoxicity. The results showed that the crude flavonoids extracted from these three medicinal plants showed maximum inhibition of blood counts,

Résumé :
Acne vulgaris is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease. In the present study, we reported the anti-acne vulgaris effect of the Mesua ferrea (M. ferrea) flower extract. The extract was evaluated for three anti-acne-causing bacteria properties including Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes), Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). The results indicated that the M. ferrea flower extract could be considered as the bactericidal agent against S. epidermidis and S. aureus with MIC values of 0.78 and 6.25 mg mL−1 and MBC values of 1.56 and 12.50 mg mL−1 and the

Résumé :
The increased resistance of Plasmodium falciparum to artemisinin and its partner drugs poses a serious challenge to global malaria control and elimination programs. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of Mesua ferrea Linn., a medicinal plant, as a source for novel antimalarial compounds. In this study, we conducted in vitro assays to evaluate the antimalarial activity and cytotoxicity of crude extracts derived from M. ferrea L. leaves and branches. Subsequently, the most promising extracts were subjected to assessments of their antimalarial efficacy and acute oral toxicit

Résumé :
The population of Mesua ferrea L. in Banyumas Regency, Central of Java Province is very low. There are some factors affecting the quantity of plant population, particularly traditional knowledge of local community about the plant. The aim of this study was to describe the knowledge of Banyumas community about the existence, economic value, usefulness, and propagation technique of M. ferrea. The study was done by field survey on a total of 146 residents from 10 districts which were determined by proportionally stratified random sampling.
