Résumé :

Spores of Limbella tricostata and fragments of living gametophytes of L. tricostata and L. fryei germinated readily and grew prolifically in vitro. Viability of fragments of live plants was directly proportional to the size of the fragment. Growth rates were similar to those observed for other aquatic mosses. Plants dried above 20 °C for longer than 24 h did not regenerate. Fungi appeared in cultures as decomposers, not pathogens.

This catalogue provides an annotated listing of the mosses (MUSCI) reported from the Guianas (Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana), based on work on the Moss Flora of Suriname, which is now nearing completion. In total 238 species in 90 genera are listed. A list of synonyms (including 10 new ones) and a systematic arrangement of the genera and families are also provided. The following new combinations are proposed: Callicostella guatemalensis (Bartr.), Sematophyllum lonchophyllum (Mont.), Sematophyllum pacimoniense (Mitt.) and Trichosteleum intricatum (Thér.).

Résumé :

The systematic position of Pterogonidium pulchellum (W.J. Hooker) Muell. Hal. in the Sematophyllaceae and Piloecium pseudorufescens (Hampe) Muell. Hal. in the Myuriaceae is reexamined with new evidence derived from rbcL gene sequences. A total of 18 taxa from Sematophyllaceae, Hypnaceae, Myuriaceae, and Hookeriaceae were included, 11 of which were newly sequenced for the rbcL gene. Analyses were done using maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood (TrN + Γ + I model and GTR + Γ + I model), and Bayesian inference (GTR + Γ + I model). The results show that Pterogonidium pulchellum has a closer relationship with members of Hypnaceae than with Sematophyllaceae, while Piloecium pseudorufescens forms a clade with the Sematophyllaceae in all phylogenetic analyses, with robust branch support. Two SOWH tests were carried out and the results show that it is not appropriate to classify Pterogonidium pulchellum in Sematophyllaceae and it is also not appropriate to classify Piloecium pseudorufescens in Myuriaceae.

Résumé :

This paper introduces the up-dated taxonomic placement of 106 genera of Hepaticae and 233 genera of Musci known from Venezuela. Besides, a summarized version from the geographical distribution in Venezuela of 383 species of Hepaticae and 1009 species of mosses is presented. Information was derived from an exhaustive revision of bryophyte collections in the Venezuelan herbaria, and from publications about bryophytes collected in Venezuela. It is concluded that Venezuela, despite having been little explored, has a great bryophyte diversity. Many species are unknown and could disappear before collection and scientific analysis.

Abstrak: Lumut (Bryophyta) merupakan kelompok tumbuhan tingkat rendah yang tumbuh meluas di daratan. Secara ekologi lumut berperan penting dalam ekosistem, seperti menjaga keseimbangan air, siklus hara, menjadi habitat penting bagi organisme lain, dapat dijadikan sebagai bioindikator karena tumbuhan ini lebih sensitif terhadap perubahan lingkungan dan merupakan tumbuhan perintis. Pentingnya peran lumut dan belum adanya data mengenai jenis-jenis lumut di Daerah Aliran Sungai Kabura-burana maka sangat perlu dilakukan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis lumut yang tumbuh di Daerah Aliran Sungai Kabura-burana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksplorasi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 15 spesies lumut yang terdiri atas 11 spesies lumut daun dan 4 spesies lumut hati. Delapan jenis lumut teridentifikasi sampai tingkat spesies, lima jenis teridentifikasi hingga tingkat genus dan dua lainnya teridentifikasi hingga tingkat familia. Kata Kunci: Bryophyta; Inventarisasi; Lumut; SpesiesAbstract: Moss (bryophyta) is a group of low-level plants thatgrow widely on land. Ecologically the moss plays an important role in the ecosystem, such as maintaining water balance, nutrient cycles, being an important habitat for other organisms, can be used as a bioindicator because these plants are more sensitive ti environmental changes and are pioneering plants. The important of the role of mosses and the absenceof data on the types of mosses in the Kabura-burana River Basin, it is necessary to conduct this research to determine the types of mosses that grow in the Kabura-burana River Basi. This research is a qualitative research using exploratory methods. The result obtained by 15 species of mosses consisting of 11 species of musci and 4 species of liverworts. Eight species of mosses are identified up to the species level, five types of moss are identified up to genus level and other two are identified up to the family level.Keywords: Bryophyta;Inventory; Moss; Species

The Hepaticae include quite diverse forms of vegetation, judging from the outward habit of the plants composing the group, yet all are more or less intimately related in their essential, that is. their reproductive characters. The lower forms consist of a mere expansion of tissue with no differentiation of stem and leaves. These thalloid forms are quite frequently confused with certain forms of lichens, but can be easily distinguished by the fact that while the lichen is usually rather dry and crustaceous or leathery, the hepatic is more loosely cellular or spongy in texture, and presents a moist or somewhat juicy appearance under pressure. Some of the aquatic forms have also been mistaken for algae. The higher forms of Hepaticae are more moss-like in general appearance, consisting of a stem and leaves usually closely creeping over some substance, which may be the ground itself, rotten wood, living trees, or rocks. These higher forms are sometimes confused with the true mosses (Musci), but can usually be distinguished by having the leaves two-ranked, while the mosses proper have them in several or many ranks. The more technical differences will be made apparent at a later paragraph.

The moss flora of Zambales Mountain Range of Luzon Island, Philippines is updated based on recent and herbarium collections and is found to consist of 268 species in 126 genera. The Zambales collections yield Ectropothecium sp., a probable new species and six new records for the Philippine moss flora: Ectropothecium callichroides, E. filicaule, E. planulum, Neckeromnion calcutense, Papillidiopsis stissophylla, and Splachnobryum oorschotii. Likewise, Gammiella tonkinensis, Gymnostomiella longinervis, Leucobryum arfakianum, and Rhaphidostichum bunodicarpum are new records for Luzon Island. Additionally, the affinity of mosses in Zambales Mountain Range to other known floristically distinct areas and islands in the archipelago is discussed.

Résumé :

Crossomitrium is a genus of neotropical, essentially epiphyllous mosses. The genus consists of six species that are distributed in two sections: section Crossomitrium (C. acuminatum, C. patrisiae, and C. scabrisetum) and section Cormophila (C. epiphyllum, C. saprophilum, and C. sintenisii). Section Crossomitrium is characterized by 1. plants nearly always on leaves or twigs, 2. lateral leaves oblongacuminate and widest below the middle, 3. leaves when dry that arch from an erect base downward to the substrate and, 4. the presence of specialized brood branches that are closely adnate to the substrate and have tightly imbricate leaves. Section Cormophila is characterized by 1. plants growing on rocks and tree trunks as well as on leaves, 2. lateral leaves oval to obovate, acute to apiculate and widest above the middle, 3. leaves when dry flattened to the substrate and, 4. the presence of erect, specialized brood branches that have leaves spreading on all sides. Crossomitrium is placed in the Hookeriaceae (sensu Whittemore & Allen, 1989) on the basis of its branched stems, ecostate leaves, straight, unbranched rhizoids that are tightly clustered just posterior to the leaf bases, 2-celled axillary hairs and weakly pigmented stem cortex. Within the Hookeriaceae Crossomitrium is considered close to the genus Lepidopilum by virtue of 1. its peristome which is hydrocastique and has a high basal membrane, 2. the spinose setae of C.acuminatum and C. scabrisetum, 3. the irregular subdivision of its stomatal guard cells (including the presence of stomates at the base of raised pustules), 4. leaves doubly serrulate by the projecting ends of contiguous marginal cells, 6. absence of a stem central strand. It differs from Lepidopilum in its 1. symmetric, ecostate leaves, 2. calyptra fimbriate by downward projecting, multicellular hairs that arise from the margins of the calyptra, 3. collenchymatous exothecial cells, 4. the presence of broodbodies on specialized brood branches as well as in clusters just below the junction of the leaf with the stem.

Usually regarded as less evolved than their more recently diverged vascular sisters, which currently dominate vegetation landscape, bryophytes seem having nothing to envy to the defensive arsenal of other plants, since they had acquired a suite of chemical traits that allowed them to adapt and persist on land. In fact, these closest modern relatives of the ancestors to the earliest terrestrial plants proved to be marvelous chemists, as they traditionally were a popular remedy among tribal people all over the world, that exploit their pharmacological properties to cure the most different diseases. The phytochemistry of bryophytes exhibits a stunning assortment of biologically active compounds such as lipids, proteins, steroids, organic acids, alcohols, aliphatic and aromatic compounds, polyphenols, terpenoids, acetogenins and phenylquinones, thus it is not surprising that substances obtained from various species belonging to such ancestral plants are widely employed as antitumor, antipyretic, insecticidal and antimicrobial. This review explores in particular the antifungal potential of the three Bryophyta divisions—mosses (Musci), hornworts (Anthocerotae) and liverworts (Hepaticae)—to be used as a sources of interesting bioactive constituents for both pharmaceutical and agricultural areas, providing an updated overview of the latest relevant insights.

Résumé :

The aim of this research to show floristic and ecological characteristics of acidophilus beach forest with mosses (Musco - Fagetum moesiacae B. Jov. 1976) in the area of Jelova gora. The studied type of soil in this forest community was dystric cambisol, which finds on sericite schist. Only ten plant species was recorded in this plant community (eight vascular plants and two species of mosses - Polytrichum commune and Leucobryum glaucum), so we can conclude that this plant community is very floristic poor. On bases floristic structure, spectrum of life forms and ekological spectrum are done. The phanerophytes have the highest share in community. The results of the study showed that investigated forest community was mesophilic, acidophilic to neutrofilic, mesotrophic, sciophilic to sub-sciophilic and mesothermophilic.

This article argues that Schoenberg's monumental opera Moses und Aron reflects a broader German-Jewish concern with the philosophical meaning of the Second Commandment and its relation to German-Jewish identity. By way of the aesthetic theory of the German-Jewish philosopher Hermann Cohen, the article analyzes Moses und Aron and suggests that Cohen's theory offers a context through which to understand the philosophical and cultural underpinnings of Schoenberg's music and drama. The article concludes with a brief discussion of the social and political milieu in which Moses und Aron was created and its implications for understanding Schoenberg's and the German-Jewish intellectual struggle for identity.

Résumé :

Ruth HaCohen (Hebrew University) explores Modernism's artistic exploration of its relationship to theology by taking up Schoenberg's late, unfinished opera Moses and Aaron. Reading that opera as a theological-political-aesthetic Tractatus in the tradition of Spinoza, HaCohen draws out the theological implications of Schoenberg's radical rethinking of formal conventions as these organize the relationship between music and text.

As moscas Lucilia cuprina, Chrysomya megacephala, Cochliomyia hominivorax e Musca domestica, estão entre as mais importantes pragas da pecuária causando miíases e como portadoras de microrganismos patogênicos. O propósito deste estudo foi testar a eficácia de várias concentrações do óleo de nim sobre pupas das moscas mencionadas em condições de laboratório e de campo. A redução da emergência das moscas das pupas tratadas com 0,6 por cento de óleo de nim foi de 95,6 por cento em condições de laboratório e 94,5 por cento quando aplicado ao solo onde descansam os animais durante a noite. A aplicação do óleo de nim a 0,6% no solo é uma alternativa viável para controle das pupas de L. cuprina, C. megacephala, C. hominivorax e M. domestica.

Este trabalho avaliou o isolamento de fungos em Musca domestica através da busca direta e por meio de iscas químicas e também a influência desta isca química para o crescimento de fungos encontrados nessas moscas. Foram realizadas coletas usando armadilhas com iscas químicas, compostas do inseticida Imidacloprid e outra por busca direta. Verificou-se que em 71,73% das moscas coletadas por busca direta apresentaram crescimento fúngico, enquanto as moscas capturadas usando iscas químicas apresentaram apenas 28,26% de crescimento fúngico. No teste realizado adicionando a isca química em meio de cultura BDA, não foi observado crescimento fúngico. Para estudos de fungos residentes em M. domestica, o uso do inseticida Imidacloprid como isca química não é recomendado, pois este produto pode inibir determinados microrganismos, inclusive possíveis biocontroladores de M. domestica.

Résumé :

O levantamento de moscas sinantrópicas e seus parasitóides foi realizado de fevereiro de 1991 a abril de 1992 na granja Capuavinha Monte Mor, SP. A triagem do esterco foi realizada com funil de Berlese-Tullgren, método de flutuação em água e posterior dissecção de pupas que não originaram moscas, nem parasitóides. As espécies de moscas hospedeiras encontradas foram: Chrysomya putoria (Calliphoridae), Muscina stabulans, Musca domestica (Muscidae), Fannia pusio (Fanniidae) e moscas da família Sepsidae. Os parasitóides que atacaram as pupas hospedeiras foram: Spalangia, Muscidifurax, Pachycrepoideus, Nasonia (Pteromalidae) e Tachinaephagus zealandicus (Encyrtidae - ataca larva). Foi detectada pela primeira vez a ocorrência de Trichopria sp. (Diapriidae), parasitóide gregário, o único que ocorreu apenas em pupas de C. putoria. Trichopria sp. mostrou sazonalidade nítida duas vezes em 1991, tanto nas pupas que apresentaram parasitóides emergentes, como nas pupas que foram dissecadas e também no material de puçá. Esses resultados indicam que a alta porcentagem de pupas com parasitóides que não conseguiram emergir naturalmente pode significar uma associação recente entre Trichopria sp. e C. putoria no Brasil.

Schönbergs Denken war von religiösen Vorstellungen beeinflusst, wenn nicht gar geprägt. Ob er ein religiöser Komponist war, lässt sich dagegen weniger eindeutig sagen. Um die unterschiedlichen Konnotationen, mit denen der Aspekt des Religiösen für Schönberg behaftet war, auch nur annäherungsweise zu erfassen, müssen neben den musikalischen Werken auch seine Schriftzeugnisse einbezogen werden. Résumé :

Espécies de parasitóides associados com moscas sinantrópicas foram coletadas com auxílio de iscas de fígado bovino no matadouro Alvorada em Itumbiara, Estado de Goiás, de março a dezembro de 2005. As pupas foram removidas da areia, após usar iscas de fígado como substrato para atrair as moscas. Elas foram individualizadas em cápsulas de gelatina até a emergência dos adultos de moscas ou de seus parasitóides. A prevalência total de parasitismo foi 15,3%. A freqüência absoluta, porcentagem e espécies de parasitóides coletados foram: 205 exemplares (2,3%) de Aphaereta sp., 173 (80,0%) de Brachymeria podagrica, 578 (15,7%) Nasonia vitripennis, um (0,5%) de Pachycrepoideus vindemmiae, dois (0,9%) de Spalangia sp. e um (0,5%) de Trybliographa sp. A porcentagem de parasitismo apresentada pelos parasitóides de Aphaereta sp., B. podagrica, N. vitripennis, P. vindemmiae, Spalangia sp., e Trybliographa sp. foi de 0,4%, 12,3%, 2,4%, 0,1%, 0,1% e 0,1%, respectivamente. As espécies de dípteros parasitados foram: Chrysomya albiceps, C. megacephala, Musca domestica, Oxysarcodexia thornax, Peckia chrysostoma e Sarcodexia lambens.
