Der Beitrag beschreibt die Corona-Pandemie als disruptive „turbulente Herausforderung“ und erweitert als Lösungsansatz das Konzept der Resilienz um die Robustheit sozialer Systeme. Robuste Organisationen versuchen nicht, in ihr Gleichgewicht zurückzukommen, sondern bauen ein neues auf, das den geänderten Gegebenheiten gerecht wird. Um diesem Ideal näher zu kommen, müssen öffentliche Unternehmen neue Formen der (Selbst-) Steuerung und der Führung implementieren. Die öffentlichen Unternehmen, denen es gelingt, diese neuen Steuerungs- und Führungsformen zu implementieren, sind besser gewappnet - nicht nur für den Umgang mit der Corona-Pandemie, sondern auch bei zukünftig zu erwartenden anderen turbulenten Herausforderungen.

Wenn nötig lässt man sich einen Infrastrukturfonds konzipieren. Bad Doberan baute sich so einst ein ganz neues Krankenhaus.

<p>In 1926 Bruno Taut built his own house in Berlin-Dahlewitz. The German architect had already declared his ideas of housing in the book Die neue Whonung (1924) exemplifying the new concept of modern living-style, according to Neues Bauen. In other theoretical writings he defines the Neues Bauen in relation with new needs, tendencies and aesthetics of architecture, referring to important issues as climate, topography and tradition. The book Ein Whonhaus (1927) stigmatizes the coeval construction process of his house: the thirteen chapters are a detailed analysis which give evidence to every technological and morphological choice. Taut focuses on the relationship between architecture and landscape, type of furniture, functional plan layout, use of glass; especially he enlightens the reader as to the use of colour as a construction material. The house has an unconventional shape, it is a quarter of a circle; in his writings the architect painstakingly explains the impressive plan. With the book Ein Whonhaus Taut delivers to memory his home design, transforming process and ideas related to the modern house. He breaks through conventions and changes the notions of what Modernism could produce. The paper highlights the theoretical production related to the architect’s own house as praxis for doing architecture, emphasizing Taut’s contribution to a dialectic mutual relationship between theoretical and architectural practice, in order to achieve a more conscious and effective design process.</p>

Ovaj je članak prerada autorove disertacije „Stambene kuće Novog građenja u sjevernim dijelovima Zagreba u razdoblju od 1928. do 1945. godine”, obranjene 12. travnja 2007. godine na Arhitektonskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, pod mentorstvom professora emeritusa Nikole Filipovića. A 39 ugrađenih najam nih stambenih zgrada i 109 vila Novoga građenja, podignutih između 1928. i 1935. godine, pokazuju snažan doprinos zagrebačkih arhitekata modernome pokretu.

Um die medizinische Versorgung im Nordosten Wiens zu verbessern, fiel 2006 die Entscheidung, ein neues Spital zu bauen. Bereits ein Jahr später stand der Masterplan Logistik – und im Sommer 2019 konnten die ersten Patienten aufgenommen werden. Durch die Verknüpfung unterschiedlicher Logistikansätze und -instrumente wurde eine zukunftsfähige Krankenhauslogistik realisiert. Sie ermöglicht sowohl flexible als auch standardisierte Leistungsprozesse und unterstützt auch erforderliche Anpassungen und Weiterentwicklungen zukünftiger logistischer Anforderungen.

Zusammenfassung Für die Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin investierte der Bund seit den 2000er Jahren enorme Summen, um dieser Institution wie auch den in ihr aufbewahrten Beständen von Weltgeltung eine sowohl architektonisch wie auch konservatorisch-technisch angemessene Unterbringung zu garantieren. Rund 100 Jahre Architektur- und Baugeschichte zeigen sich nun an dem größten historischen Gebäudekomplex des Berliner Zentrums am Boulevard Unter den Linden: Eröffnet im Jahr 1914, erlitt das Bibliotheksgebäude dreißig Jahre später durch Bombentreffer teils schwere Beschädigungen, welche in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, unter schwierigen technischen und ökonomischen Bedingungen, für einen Bibliotheksbetrieb nur teilweise beseitigt werden konnten. Dank der Wiedervereinigung der beiden deutschen Staaten eröffnete sich die Chance, für die 1661 gegründete Bibliothek wieder Rahmenbedingungen zu schaffen, die ihrer Bedeutung wie auch ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit entsprechen. Mit den architektonischen, technischen und planerischen Konzepten des beginnenden 21. Jahrhunderts wurde der Altbau des Gebäudes instandgesetzt und zugleich auf ein modernes technisches Niveau gehoben. Im gleichen Zuge konnte das Jahrzehnte zuvor verloren gegangene architektonische wie auch funktionale Zentrum des Bibliotheksgebäudes durch ein neues ersetzt werden.

ABSTRACT:The Neues Bauen programme of urban development in Weimar Germany is best known amongst English-speaking historians for its modern housing estates, including those built by Bruno Taut in Berlin. Less well known are the negative impacts of this programme, particularly the displacement of thousands of garden colonies from the outskirts of towns and cities, which were cleared to make way for new developments. This article focuses on the historical development of the garden colonies in Berlin, and the threat they faced from urban expansion during the Weimar era.

In 1930, a housing exhibition called ‘Woba’ took place in the city of Basel. Unique for Switzerland, the commercial aspect of the furniture industry was complemented by a newly constructed residential colony. In accordance with discussions held one year before at the II CIAM congress in Frankfurt a. M., the Wohnung für das Existenzminimum was brought to life. Thirteen architectural offices experimented with different spatial designs in order to develop cheap and hygienic housing for the working class. For one month, some of the houses were open to the public. In the Swiss press, a vivid and controversial debate arose. On one side, its supporters advocated for standardized and rationalized housing as an appropriate way of living for modern individuals. On the other side, conservative forces saw a communist scheme at work in this housing in the style of Neues Bauen. By analyzing contemporary press articles on the Woba, this paper shows that the question of society’s future was being negotiated through architecture and furniture.

This thesis examines the interrelationship of hygiene and modernist architecture (Neues Bauen) in Germany in the early twentieth century. The thesis proposes that the role of hygiene in the architecture of Neues Bauen progressed from its initial position as a purely functional consideration, into a design element, and finally established itself as an integral part of the aesthetic of Neues Bauen. A further proposition is that both the hygienists and the modernist architects of Neues Bauen consciously exploited this overlap in their respective disciplines. Following two introductory chapters, different aspects of the interrelation between hygiene and architecture will be examined in particular relation to the medical doctor, Friedrich Wolf (1888-1953), who can be seen as the pivotal figure within a whole network of hygienic-architectural exchange. Chapter One describes how infectious diseases generate basic hygienic architectural types (the hospital and sanatorium), and how these became a precedent for modem architectural design. Chapter Two demonstrates how the hygienic criteria of the hospital and the sanatorium became integrated into residential architecture, ultimately resulting in the residential housing of Neues Bauen. Focusing on Friedrich Wolf, Chapter Three documents the biographical interconnections between hygienists and the leading architects of Neues Bauen, and examines the mutual influence that they exerted on one another. The primary objective of Chapter Four is an analysis of the chapter in Friedrich Wolf's medical advice book Die Natur als Arzt and Helfer (Nature as Doctor and Helper) of 1928, in which he portrays Neues Bauen as the prototype of ideal hygienic architecture. Chapter Five deals with Wolfs definition of architecture as hygienic shell, surrounding and determining the man within, and his classification of this shell within a self-contained system of healing, concluding with his analogies of the `New Man' and of Neues Bauen. Chapter Six reveals the specific mechanisms that enabled hygienists and doctors such as Friedrich Wolf to `sell` Neues Bauen as a prototypically hygienic architecture, whilst at the same time furthering their personal goals. Finally, this chapter considers the motives, which led the architects of Neues Bauen consciously to adopt metaphors of hygiene to further their own personal design objectives.

Die Information über den Zustand der Umwelt und den Umweltschutz ist eine der Kernaufgaben des Umweltbundesamtes (UBA). Das UBA plant im 2. Halbjahr 2019 die Veröffentlichung eines neuen, internetbasierten thematischen Umweltatlas als Teil der Website www.umweltbundesamt.de. Das Projekt soll die bestehende Lücke in der raumbezogenen Darstellung von Umweltthemen schließen und eine öffentlichkeitswirksame, informative und ansprechend gestaltete Informationsplattform entwickeln. „Bauen, Wohnen, Haushalte“ und „Reaktiver Stickstoff“ sind die zwei Themenschwerpunkte, die vordringlich und exemplarisch für die zukünftigen Atlasinhalte bearbeitet werden. Das Leibniz-Institut für ökologische Raumentwicklung (IÖR) hat den Auftrag erhalten, für den Themenkomplex „Bauen, Wohnen, Haushalte“ Umweltwirkungen, -belastungen, -zustand und politische Lösungsansätze inhaltlich und grafisch aufzubereiten.

Die Künste bekommen angesichts der klimatischen Veränderungen und den Katastrophen, sei es von Menschenhand oder durch die Natur bedingt, für Fragen unserer Zukunft, für unser Überleben einen bedeutsamen Akzent, indem sie unser Selbstverständnis des Verhältnisses von Selbst und Welt neu zu ergründen suchen. Es rührt in ethischer Hinsicht an die Verantwortung für die kommenden Generationen. Anlass darüber nachzudenken ist ein Performancemodell von Eva Meyer-Keller und Sibylle Müller, in denen Kinder die Möglichkeit erhalten, beim Nachbauen von Katastrophen mit Alltagsgegenständen ihre Vorstellungen vom zukünftigen Leben auf diesem Planeten zu artikulieren. Nachgegangen wird der Frage: Was hat die Lust nach Zerstörung im spielerischen Vorgehen, wie es einerseits Kindern und andererseits den Künsten zu eigen ist, um etwas Neues zu schaffen, mit dem Thema Katastrophen gemeinsam? Wie kommen diese Momente in einer Performance mit und von Kindern zusammen?

The Swabian Alb is known for its caves, in which figural ivory carvings and flutes from the Aurignacian period were found. Parietal art, on the other hand, as known from sites in France, Spain, Romania or Russia, has not been discovered in this region so far. In fact, up to now, there are no documented caves with Pleistocene wall paintings in Germany. Nevertheless, the presence of ochre traces on mobile artefacts indicates the purposeful application of pigments by humans during the Pleistocene in the region, for example stone pebbles or possible wall fragments from Magdalenian occupations bear series of dots (Conard, Floss, 1998). The paint is, however, fixed to portable objects and not to the cave walls. Not at least for these reasons, the question arises how the lack of parietal art in this region can be explained. If we assume from the known finds in Hohle Fels and Geienklsterle, which demonstrate that ochre was known and accessible to humans at least during the Aurignacian and the Gravettian (Conard, Malina, 2019), a lack of raw material as an explanation for the absence of caves with wall paintings in this region can be excluded. Moreover, at that time humans were able to reproduce the environment in the form of highly realistic images of the Ice Age fauna (Conard, Kind, 2017). A large number of ivory carvings from this period are, if one considers the degree of realism, comparable with the paintings in Chauvet, Altamira or Kapova Cave. Other aspects must therefore be taken into account when determining the reasons for the absence of parietal art. On the one hand, it is possible that the limestone rocks of the Swabian Jura are not suitable for a permanent preservation of ochrebased colors. Most of them are active caves, which are still strongly influenced by geological processes, but above all by water and karst. In addition, it is possible that the knowledge of the existence of caves which goes with long periods of use by people from all times may have destroyed existing paintings. However, one would expect to find some remains or at least residues of paint, if existing images were demolished by the permanent use of the caves. Ultimately, and although it cannot be ruled out that people during the Upper Palaeolithic in southern Germany have expressed themselves artistically in other forms, we must assume that there is a research gap. So far, a systematic research and analysis of the cave walls has not yet been carried out in the Swabian Jura. Today, the use of new technologies can be utilized to confirm or deny the current state of research. At the moment we aim to systematically examine the cave walls in the archaeological sites of the World Heritage Site Caves and Ice Age Art in the Swabian Jura. We consider them an excellent test cluster for the Paleolithic of this region. Three-dimensional recordings of the caves have already been produced. In the next steps we will test these recordings of the known caves with different filters and light conditions for parietal art, but at the same time continue to look for new and up to now unknown caves in the region.
