Résumé :
This paper presents a theoretical analysis and derives the amplifier output noise power spectral density result in a closed form when the input to the amplifier is a band limited Gaussian noise. From the computed power spectral density the NPR is evaluated by a simple subtraction. The method can be applied to any amplifier with known input-output characteristics. The method may be applied to analyze various other important characteristics of the nonlinear amplifier such as spectral regrowth that refers to the spreading of the signal bandwidth when a band limited signal is inputted to the nonli

Résumé :
AbstractThis paper presents a high-efficiency linear GaN K-band transmitter for broadband high peak-average power ratio (PAPR) signals. A GaN MMIC 18.5–24 GHz three-stage power amplifier with over 4 W peak output power, 20 dB saturated gain, and 40% peak PAE is supply-modulated with a four-level discrete dynamic supply GaN MMIC. For 100 MHz signals with ${\rm PAPR}\gt 10\, {\rm dB}$, we demonstrate an average efficiency improvement from 14 to 20% with a simultaneous linearity improvement in noise power ratio (NPR) from 23 to 26 dB through a shaping function focused on gain linearization. Résumé :
<p>We report on the generation of dual-wavelength fiber laser peaking at 1990.64 and 1998.92 nm with a simple ring cavity setup. The lasers are demonstrated using a fabricated silica-based nano-engineered octagonal shaped double-clad Thulium-Ytterbium co-doped fiber (TYDF) as a gain medium in a simple all-fiber ring configuration. By using 980 nm multimode laser, a stable dual-wavelength laser is generated at a threshold pump power of 1500 mW due to the non-polarization rotation (NPR) effect occurred in the cavity. The effect has been self-controlled by a suppression of mode competition

A switchable soliton mode-locked and multi-wavelength operation in thulium-doped fiber laser (TDFL) is demonstrated based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) technique. The TDFL produces a soliton pulse operating at 1917.66[Formula: see text]nm using a 5[Formula: see text]m long thulium-doped fiber (TDF) as a gain medium as well as nonlinear medium. The solitonic behavior is further identified with two orders of Kelly sidebands in the output spectrum. The mode-locked emission is obtained from threshold pump power of 522–1052[Formula: see text]mW with consistent pulse repetition rate of 14

Résumé :
To obtain certain information such as metabolic concentrations in neural or muscular tissues and other applications, it is necessary to design nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) transmitters/receivers capable of operating at multiple frequencies, while maintaining a good performance at each frequencies. We have proposed a new NMR receiver front-end for simultaneous detection of proton and carbon nucleus. The system consists of two reception coils for carbon and hydrogen analysis, a multiband low-noise amplifier (LNA) for increasing the voltage level and a network for passive amplification, noise

Résumé :
Low field (LF) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) shows potential advantages to study pure heteronuclear J-coupling and observe the fine structure of matter. Power-line harmonics interferences and fixed-frequency noise peaks might introduce discrete noise peaks into the LF-NMR spectrum in an open environment or in a conductively shielded room, which might disturb J-coupling spectra of matter recorded at LF. In this paper, we describe a multi-channel sensor configuration of superconducting quantum interference devices, and measure the multiple peaks of the 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol J-coupling spectr

A modified version of conditional-precharge sense-amplifier-based flip-flop (mCP-SAFF) is proposed. By using the differential clocked CMOS (C2MOS) latch with one shared output holder and the conditional-precharge modules to simplify the sense-amplifier latch, the mCP-SAFF can achieve a much shorter input to output delay (D-to-Q delay) and more symmetrical rising/falling delays than those of the original conditional-precharge sense-amplifier-based flip-flops (CP-SAFF). Post-layout simulation results show that the mCP-SAFF, compared with the widely used conventional DFF, does not suffer neither

A GaAlAs diode laser operating at 783 nm was combined with an unintensified charge coupled device (CCD) array detector and single grating spectrograph to obtain near-infrared (NIR) Raman spectra. The spectrometer has no moving parts and retains the high sensitivity expected for multichannel, shot-noise-limited detectors. Diode laser excitation permits high-sensitivity Raman spectroscopy with reduced fluorescence interference, in comparison to that produced with conventional visible lasers. The diode laser/CCD approach should exhibit much higher sensitivity than FT-Raman systems operating at 10

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1993 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada<br>System performance can be ascertained via a number of parameters; one of which is Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR). SNR is the ratio of the value of the signal to the value of the noise. It is generally expressed in decibels and usually a function of the system bandwidth. Another measure of performance is the Noise-Power ratio (NPR). NPR is the ratio of the noise level within a specific measurement channel when noise is applied to all channels, to the level that i

In the past, weight and bulk of high torque gear transmissions were determined by the emphasis on lifetime durability, manufacturability, and manufacturing cost obtainable within the stress limits of classical materials when applying the rules of classical kinematics. In contrast, the Advanced XYZ Transmission (A-XYZ™) uses neither conventional materials nor classical kinematics. Instead, for the purpose of achieving load distribution over many rolling contact “teeth”, the A-XYZ transmission conveys the required torque and speed (power) via a three-dimensional path of motion which combines sim

Retrieval of fuel debris is one of the most urgent issues regarding the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). A retrieval of fuel debris requires a measurement system which can be applied in the severe environment to investigate inside the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) and the Control Rod Drive (CRD) housing. In this study, an air-coupled ultrasonic measurement is proposed because of the feasibility of its application in the severe environment such as the high-radiation atmosphere.
