Abstract. This research focuses on optimizing the design, parameters, and operational modes of vertical roller mills (VRMs) for grinding granulated slag, which are crucial in industries such as cement, mining, and energy. VRMs are widely recognized for their energy efficiency and ability to grind various materials with minimal energy consumption. However, the challenge lies in designing mills that can operate efficiently under harsh conditions of intense friction, impact loads, and abrasive particles, especially when processing hard materials like granulated slag. We investigate the impact of organizational form on operational efficiency using a large sample covering manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in the United States over 30 years. The difference is more noticeable in industries where financing needs are high due to greater growth potential and where access to external markets is constrained due to higher information asymmetry.

Résumé :
This paper proposes a benchmarking model useful to rank and select aircraft used in the freight industry. The decision-making problem of aircraft ranking and selection is addressed by implementing an extension of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), i.e. the cross-efficiency calculation. DEA efficiency is a useful indicator to evaluate the value for money of an aircraft in the freight industry and its extension - the cross-efficiency measurement makes it possible to rank aircraft according to this value for money measurements. A sample of 22 air freighters is used to analyze the model validity. DE

Résumé :
Internal controls are crucial in ensuring the efficient utilization of resources to accomplish organizational objectives. When implemented effectively, they enhance operational efficiency. In the case of public institutions, operational efficiency is critical given that these entities deliver services paid by taxpayers and whose interest revolves around resource optimization. The study investigates the effect of internal control mechanisms on the operational efficiency of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Malawi. A cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data was collected through a questi

Résumé :
The article explores the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in maritime fleet management, focusing on improving operational efficiency and reducing costs. An analysis of key technological solutions is presented, including predictive maintenance, intelligent routing systems, crew performance monitoring tools, and energy consumption optimization. It is demonstrated that machine learning algorithms processing vast datasets, such as Automatic Identification System (AIS) data, weather information, and vessel sensor readings, can predict emergency situations and schedule maintena

Résumé :
This paper studies whether there is a relation between the operational efficiency measured through the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models and the tax aggressiveness of the Brazilian public companies listed on B3 between the period of 2010 to 2015. The main hypothesis is that companies that are more operational efficient are in average less tax aggressive. Or, in other words, we predict that the less operational efficient companies have usually to engage in tax aggressiveness strategies more often. An efficiency score was calculated considering the outputs and inputs of the companies, class
