OBJECTIVE: to test a theoretical model based on the Parent-Based Expansion of the Theory of Planned Behavior examining relation between selected parental, teenager and cultural variables and Latino teenagers' intentions to engage in sexual behavior.METHOD: a cross-sectional correlational design based on a secondary data analysis of 130 Latino parent and teenager dyads.RESULTS: regression and path analysis procedures were used to test seven hypotheses and the results demonstrated partial support for the model. Parent familism and knowledge about sex were significantly associated with parents' attitudes toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Parent Latino acculturation was negatively associated with parents' self-efficacy toward sexual communication with their teenagers and positevely associated with parents' subjective norms toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Teenager knowledge about sex was significantly associated with higher levels of teenagers' attitudes and subjective norms about sexual communication with parents. Only the predictor of teenagers' attitudes toward having sex in the next 3 months was significantly associated with teenagers' intentions to have sex in the next 3 months.CONCLUSION: the results of this study provide important information to guide future research that can inform development of interventions to prevent risky teenager sexual behavior among Latinos.

Teenager with disability is unable to access health promotion service. This is due to the absence of method and special media of health promotion for disability teenager according to what they need. The purpose of this research was to know the appropriate method and media for disability teenager according their impairment. This research using qualitative approach with purposive sampling method. The informant in this research is taken from 8 disability teenager which are daksha, deaf/speech impairment and intelectual disability. The result shows that health topics that informant need to know is reproductive health, hygiene and health life style. The communicators of health topics selected by informants are healthy staff and teacher. Methods and media selected by informants are based on their impairment: teenager with daksha disability choose the method of disscussion and playing games with the media learning in the form of moving image; teenager with intelectual disability choose a method of sharing and disscussion with media learning in the form of illustrated books and moving image (film/video); deaf/speech impaired teenager didn’t choose any spesific methods., but they asked to use the sign language in delivery the information. The selection method health promotion have to involve teenager with disability. In planning health promotion methods and media for teenager with disability have to involve teacher and/or their parent, who know and understand the needs of each disable teenager.

ABSTRACTObjective:The loss of a parent to cancer is considered one of the most traumatic events a teenager can experience. Studies have shown that teenagers, from the time of diagnosis, are already extremely worried about the consequences of a parent's cancer but tend to be left to manage these concerns on their own. The present study aimed to explore young adults' advice to healthcare professionals on how to support teenagers who are losing a parent to cancer.Methods:This work derives from a Swedish nationwide survey and employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive/interpretive design to obtain answers to an open-ended question concerning advice to healthcare professionals. Of the 851 eligible young adults who had lost a parent to cancer when they were 13–16 years of age within the previous 6 to 9 years, 622 participated in our survey (response rate = 73%). Of these 622 young adults, 481 responded to the open-ended question about what advice to give healthcare professionals.Results:Four themes emerged: (1) to be seen and acknowledged; (2) to understand and prepare for illness, treatment, and the impending death; (3) to spend time with the ill parent, and (4) to receive support tailored to the individual teenager's needs.Significance of Results:This nationwide study contributes hands-on suggestions to healthcare staff regarding attitudes, communication, and support from the perspective of young adults who, in their teenage years, lost a parent to cancer. Teenagers may feel better supported during a parent's illness if healthcare professionals take this manageable advice forward into practice and see each teenager as individuals; explain the disease, its treatments, and consequences; encourage teenagers to spend time with their ill parent; and recommend sources of support.

This study used a strengths-based approach to examine the distribution of perceived parent involvement factors during high school from the perspective of academically successful Black male college students. Black males enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a university in the southern region of the United States completed Yan and Lin’s Parent Involvement During High School survey, adapted from the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988. Results revealed that among the distribution of the three factors (family obligation, parent information network, and family norms), Family norms was perceived as the most prevalent parent involvement subscale factor during high school for this particular population. The family norms factor subscale’s parent–teenager relationship emerged as the most dominant variable followed by educational expectations. We delineate implications for school counselors and research.

Introduction. Parents are responsible to meet the needs of children include biological and psychological needs, but in reality behave over protective parents. The result appears coping strategies in children. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation of behavior over protective parent with a teenager coping strategies in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School. Methods. The study was observational with cross sectional sample of 70 respondents taken by purposive sampling method. Instruments questionnaire and analyzed using chi square test. Results. This study showed that teenagers in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School whose parents overprotected more used Emotional Focused Coping than parents who did not overprotected. Chi square test p = 0.003, ie p <α (0.05). There was a correlation between the behavior over protective parent with a teenager coping strategies in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School. Discussion. The Parents be recommended to comprehend adolescent condition with viewpoint of growth and development of adolescents, so they can use good coping strategy to solve their problems.Keywords: Adolescents, Coping Strategies, Over Protective

The research was conducted to reveal the various facts about the permissive parenting parents against the impact of a single female parent’s teenager the end. Use case study in qualitative approach. On two of the respondents which of its characteristics are single parents teenager pregnant outside wedlock end then married in a short time and eventually divorced. Data were collected through interviews; observation and documentation study. Analyzed data qualitative descriptive usage through case studies and served in the form of narratives with earlier in Triangulation. Research results shows that the problem is becoming a single parent woman have an impact on the lives of young women as single parents. Respondents subjected to stress, standard of living is low a negative view of society and childcare; aspect role overload, poverty, loneliness and isolation, and felt to be a burden not affect the respondents. A family of permissive parenting causes the marriage is seen as a mere status only, so that after their child's birth status was not considered important, and they choose to become single parents. Further research showed the presence of moral deterioration and the difference in the impact of being a single parent on this research is influenced strongly by self resiliensi respondents. Counseling service to help explore the issues and deal with cases of teenagers as a single parent is indispensable.

This collaborative evaluation explored the distribution of perceived parent involvement factors during high school, from the perspective of academically successful Black male college students. One hundred and forty-six(146)Blackmales enrolled in an undergraduate degree seeking-program at a university in the southern region of the United States completed Yan and Lins (2005) parent involvement during high school survey, adapted from NELS: 88 (National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988). A collaborative evaluation approach using the Model for Collaborative Evaluations MCE was used in this formative evaluation. Results revealed that among the distribution of the three factors (Family Obligation, Parent Information Network and Family Norms), Family Norms was perceived as the most prevalent parent involvement subscale factor during high school forthis particular population. Under the Family Norms factor subscale Parent-teenager relationship emerged as the most dominant variable, followed by Educational expectations. Implications for using the MCE in evaluating school parent involvement programs and research are delineated.

<p>The study examined prediction of teenager depression based on social skill, peer attachment, parental attachment and self-esteem. The type of this study is descriptive-corolation. Data from survey of 382 high school daughter students in basis of morgan sampling table were used. At this study we used Multistage Cluster Method for sampeling. Information of this study collecting by Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale (2002), Social Skills Inventory and Foster teen Ayndrbytzn TISS (1992), Test Adolescent Attachment to Parent and Peer (IPPA-R) (1978) and Ruchester Self-Esteem Scale (1998). The Statistical method used for data analysis in the study is Multivariable regression and Pearson correlation. The results indicated that there was reversed significant relation between teenager Depression and Social Skills. There was also reverse significant realation between Depression, Peer and Parent Attachment and Self-Esteem. Furthermore it revealed that between mother attachment and father attachment, mother attachment had more share on prediction of adolescence depression. Among three variables of social skills, parental attachment, peer attachment and self-esteem the social skill had the least effect on prediction of adolescent depression but others had a significant effect.</p>

The main approaches to the definition of the phenomenon of “alienation” have been considered. The causes and dynamics of the emergence of alienation in the child-parent relationship have been investigated. Interconnection of violations in parent-child relationships with the incorrect educational strategy of parents has been revealed. Special attention has been paid to the specificity of manifestations and the nature of alienation in adolescence. It has been supposed about the connection between alienation and style of upbringing of a teenager. The practical part of the article describes the procedure and results of the study on the determination of this connection. The analysis has identified a statistically significant interrelation between alienation and the relationship between parents and children. Critical importance of hypo-care for the formation of teenage alienation has been ascertained. The characteristic of child-parent relations in same-sex and opposite-sex couples child-parent has been made.

This article describes the brief treatment of a Mexican American teenager who presented for family therapy to address major depressive disorder (MDD) and comorbid binge-purge behaviors. Treatment was brief and integrated components of family-based therapy (LeGrange, 2010) and narrative therapy with an overarching multicultural lens. Progress was measured through self-report (Children’s Depression Inventory), parent-report, and concrete behavioral markers (e.g., reduced number of purging events). By the end of treatment, there was a reduction of depressive symptoms (e.g., elimination of suicidal ideation and cutting behaviors, reduction of fatigue, anhedonia, and low mood) as well as disrupted eating behaviors. By supporting the teenager and family to identify and leverage their individual and family strengths, treatment also strengthened family communication, increased shared positive family experiences (e.g., family meals), and supported the teenager in engaging in community activities consistent with the family’s values. This case adds to the existing literature by reviewing ways in which treatment was modified across multiple domains to provide culturally sensitive care, as well as by identifying weaknesses in the approach, which may serve to illuminate gaps in the existing literature and highlight areas where clinicians may want to adapt their treatment so as to strengthen client outcomes.

AbstractThe Belgian strategic plan to eliminate measles contains several vaccination strategies including routine immunisation programmes and catch-up campaigns. A new expanded programme on immunisation-based survey (2016) assessed the uptake of the recommended measles–mumps–rubella (MMR) vaccine in three different cohorts: toddlers, adolescents and parents of toddlers. A two-stage cluster sampling technique was used to select 875 toddlers (age 18–24 months) and 1250 adolescents (born in 2000) from 107 municipalities in Flanders. After consent of the parent(s), 746 (85.2%) families of toddlers and 1012 (81.0%) families of adolescents were interviewed at home. Measles vaccination coverage was high at 18–24 months (96.2%) and 81.5% were vaccinated at recommended age. Toddlers who had two siblings or a non-working mother or changed vaccinator were more at risk for not being vaccinated. Coverage of the teenager dose reached 93.5% and was lower in adolescents with educational underachievement or whose mother was part-time working or with a non-Belgian background. Only 56.0% of mothers and 48.3% of fathers remembered having received at least one measles-containing vaccine. Although measles vaccination coverage in toddlers meets the required standards for elimination, administration of the teenager dose of MMR vaccine and parent compliance to the recent measles catch-up campaign in Flanders leave room for improvement.

Background: Parenting styles is the parent’s model in parenting. By choosing one of parenting styles will influence the relationship between parent and kid. Especially when they started to grow up and became a teenager (McClure et al., 2004).Objectives: This research aimed to analyze correlation between parenting styles and behavior autonomy of teenager at Junior High School 26th, Malang City.Methods: This research used cross sectional approach, by observing the relationship between parenting styles and behavior autonomy of teenager at SMP 26 Malang city. The research was located at SMP 26 Malang city, on October 2019. They filled in the research questionnaire. The population of research was the female student grade-XIII at SMPN 26 Malang city. The Parenting Styles questionnaire was modified from the Parenting Style Questionnaire likewise for The Behaviour Autonomy from Behavioral Autonomy Questionnaire with an acceptable level of reliability score (α = 0,8; Cronbach’s alpha ≥ 0.6). The study population was 80 students from grade XIII SMPN 26 Malang. In a total of 77 students recruited using purposive sampling as the study participant. The univariate data is analyzed using distribution frequency analysis, and the chi-square test (sig level α = 0.05; CI = 95%) is used to analyze the correlation between variables. SPSS is used for whole data analysis.Results: Univariate analysis used an analysis by looking at frequency-distribution. Bivariate analysis knew the relationship of independence variable towards dependence variable with statistical-exam chi-square and the limit was (α=0,05) or confidence Interval (CI)=95% processed by using SPSS program. The result of chi-square was gotten p value = (0,002) < (0,050) so that H1 was received.Conclusion: Parenting styles related to behavior autonomy of teenager at Junior High School 26th, Malang City. The study results are expected to increases the relationship between parenting styles and behavior autonomy among adolescents. Parents have an important role in supervising and directing their autistic teenagers while carrying out daily routines at home so they can become independent teens. The purpose of this case study is to provide an overview of how teenagers with autism carry out their daily activities and what their daily activities are at home. Data collection methods used in this study were in-depth interviews and observations. The results of this study indicate that teenagers with autism are involved by parent in carrying out daily activities at home such as folding clothes, cleaning the kitchen floor, and washing rice and vegetables while at the same time parent accompany, supervise and guide her daughter. Very important for mother to teaches and trains her autistic teenager in daily living activities at home to be independent.

Studies on the efficacy of parent training programs have mostly been conducted with preadolescents, with only a few studies investigating family treatment models in adolescents. In this article, a study is described that evaluates Standard Teen Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), a behavioural family intervention for parents of 11- to 16-year-old teenagers. Participants were 46 families with a teenager who was experiencing detectable behavioural and emotional problems. Compared to parents in the waitlist control condition, parents participating in the intervention condition reported decreased levels of teen disruptive behaviours and parent adolescent conflict, as well as a reduction in the use of ineffective parenting strategies and conflict over child-rearing issues. These positive changes were maintained at the 3-month follow-up. Results suggest that Standard Teen Triple P is a promising parenting intervention for tackling adolescent externalising problems.

Traditionally scientific literature presents many investigations on relationship between parents and children of age from a newborn child to a teenager. This paper presents an overview of foreign literature on the relationship between parents and children in the period of their transition into adulthood. First, attention is paid to the importance of these relations and to some peculiarities of the period of children becoming adults and separating from parents. Some approaches and models used to describe the relationship of parents and adult children are considered; the factors that determine the differences in relations between children and their parents at the period indicated, as well as various typologies of these relationships, are analized. Some patterns of child-parent relationships during this period of family development are described. The methodological features of conducting research on child-parent interactions are indicated. The conclusions made on the ground of this literature review may be helpful when carrying out scientific investigation or during family counseling practice.

This study examined relations among teenagers’ and their mothers’ reports of values and autonomy expectations in relation to school misconduct in 58 Caucasian and 66 Asian high school students attending an international school in Hong Kong. Caucasian students were reported to exhibit more misconduct than did Asian students. Across cultures, teenagers’ endorsements of the values related to Openness to Change, and early autonomy expectations correlated positively whereas values related to Conservation correlated negatively with misconduct measures. Valuing tradition and conformity correlated negatively with disciplinary violations. Differences between teenagers’ and their mothers’ values significantly predicted disciplinary violations, providing evidence for the influence of parent/teenager interaction effects within families. The mediating role of values and autonomy expectations in explaining the link between culture and disciplinary violations is discussed in the light of these findings.

Pacaran dan perilaku seksual berkaitan erat satu sama lain. Pacaran akan menghadapkan remaja pada kondisi yang meningkatkan pengalaman seksual. Dilaporkan bahwa perilaku berciuman (48% remaja laki-laki, 30% remaja perempuan), petting (30% remaja laki-laki, 6% remaja perempuan). Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja, pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja Tahun 2015. Penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Besar sampel adalah 88 orang. Teknik sampling adalah total sampling. Analisa data menggunakan chi square dan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian didapatkan perilaku seksual remaja risiko rendah (91,2%), komunikasi orangtua-remaja baik (57,2%). Ada hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja dengan perilaku seksual berisiko (p=0,03), ada hubungan pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko (p=0,04). Simpulan penelitian ada hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja, pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko dan komunikasi orangtua-remaja merupakan variabel dominan berhubungan dengan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja.
Dating and sexual behaviors are closely related to one another. Dating will confront adolescents in conditions that increased the sexual experience. Reported that the behavior of kissing (48% boys, 30% girls), petting (30% boys, 6% girl). The aimed of research to determine the relationship parent-adolescent communication, education of parents with risky sexual behavior in adolescents Year 2015. This study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. The sample size are 88 people. Sampling technique was total sampling. Data were analyzed using chi square and logistic regression. The result showed a low risk of adolescent sexual behavior (91.2%), parent-adolescent communication is good (57.2%). There was a relathionship parent-adolescent communication with risky sexual behavior (p=0.03), there was relationship with the parent education risky sexual behavior (p=0.04). The conclusions of research there was a relationship parent-adolescent communication, education of parents with risky sexual behavior and parent-teenager communication is the dominant variable associated with risky sexual behavior in adolescents.

Background Based on propositions of the contextual model of parenting style, we examined whether there is a relationship between parent-youth sexual risk communication (PYSRC) and premarital sexual debut, and whether this relationship is moderated by the parenting style. Methods A cross-sectional study design was employed, and data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from 462 youth (211 boys and 251 girls) aged 15–24 years in senior grades of three public high schools (two rural and one urban) in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). A hierarchical binary regression analysis was conducted to examine the association between PYSRC and premarital sexual debut, and to test whether parenting style moderates this relationship. Results The mean age of participants was 18.9 (±1.85) years, and a slight majority were females (54.3%). About 35.9% of participants reported having had sex (i.e., premarital sexual debut). After adjusting for age, gender, living arrangement, school location, and peer sexual activity, neither PYSRC (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.01, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.00, 1.03) nor parenting style (AOR = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.64, 1.04) significantly predicted premarital sexual debut in the sample. Likewise, parenting style did not significantly moderate the relationship between PYSRC and premarital sexual debut (AOR = 1.01, 95% CI: 1.00, 1.02). Conclusion Contrary to propositions of the contextual model of parenting style, in this study, parenting style (authoritativeness) did not moderate the studied relationship, indicating the need for more studies to test the applicability of the contextual model of parenting style in African settings.

Finding a foreign body lodged in the tooth structure of a tooth is quite uncommon occurrence and requires skill to remove the same. Its extraction requires a detailed case history followed by clinical, and radiographic examination to ascertain the size, position, and nature of the embedded objects so that the difficulty involved in its retrieval can be assessed. At times due to fear, a child hesitates from informing the parent regarding the lodgement and may only do so when one experiences pain. There is a great possibility that the foreign objects may act as a potential source of infection and lead to undesirable consequences. This case report will discuss the lodgement, retrieval and management of foreign object (tip of lead pencil) in the maxillary left central incisor of female teenager aged 16 years.

The important link between family life and youth health and wellbeing is widely acknowledged in research and literature. Equally, it is noted that the nature of relationships youngsters have with their parents, necessarily impact on the psychological wellbeing of parents.In the majority, current parent education programs focus on younger children, and largely advise parents on child development and child management. Depending on the theoretical orientation of the program, either the child's troublesome behaviour is focus for change or parents are required to change their behaviour or parenting techniques. The limitations of these approaches have been noted. While prescriptive parent education programs are clearly inappropriate where teenagers are the focus, few suitable group programs have been developed with a practical alternative orientation.This paper reports on one form of parent education being developed at Springvale Community Health Centre which serves to explore the practical relevance and benefits of a family systems approach in support-group programs for parents of adolescent children. Essentially, the family systems approach locates the parent-teenager relationship in the context of the family. The cross-examination technique is a useful tool in such situations. It involves humour but it is also confrontational, it shifts the burden of initiating and continuation of the dialog onto the parties involved, it teaches responsibility, respect and sensitivity to the other's points of view and, after exposing the “sore points”, it leaves the couple in a position to discuss possible solutions. Elements of other psychotherapeutic approaches (mirror technique, paradoxical intentions, empty chair technique, Ericksonian approach) are included as well. Abstract This article presents an individual parental coaching model (IPC) designed and examined for a PhD dissertation. Here we shall examine one aspect from the PhD, which explores the connection and influence that this IPC model has on the ‘teenager-parent’ relationship. Essentially, the research had two main goals, firstly to examine the possible influence of a unique parental coaching process, with respect to the parents’ ability to form better connections and communication with their adolescent children. Furthermore, it sought to validate a certain perception of parenting - the notion that a parent must first establish a firm sense of “self” before taking part in parenting, thus self-definition, purpose and meaning, are the individual’s significant guidelines when establishing relations with others, especially the demanding relations with teenagers. This was a qualitative narrative piece of research, since the parents’ life stories, as perceived and related by them, were at the core of this research. Seven Israeli families participated; heterosexual married couples who had raised at least one teenager between the ages of 13 to 18. The parents took an active part in a comprehensive coaching process consisting of ten weekly sessions. While the teenagers took part in an indirect manner, by filling out questionnaires. The data collected during the coaching sessions and open interviews were analyzed using the “Theme Analysis” method. This revealed some prominent individual and parental issues that contemporary Israeli parents had to deal with. The results indicated the following central findings, apart from the parent’s appreciation of the opportunity to enter a deep process of ‘self-encounter’, resulting in great benefits despite the challenges along the way. The finding’s below address both the research question itself and the explicit change process in the communication and connection between the parents and their teenagers from both perspectives. Improvements included spending more time together, less anger and friction, more patience and tolerance, better awareness to discourse style and word choices plus an overall improvement in the atmosphere at home. All the participating parents without exception stated that it was a worthy journey, which they would recommend to all parents to experience.

We studied the stylistic features of autobiographical memory structure which can be significant for the understanding the sources of intrapersonal propensity for deviant behavior among young people. From the standpoint of the Vygotsky's theory we studied 102 "parent-teenager" dyads in order to examine the mechanisms of cultural determination of autobiographical memory macrostructure in context of reproducing the life scenarios. We differentiate the social influences of various levels on the formation of system characteristics of autobiographical memory, which constitute individual style of fixation personal stories of the past. We have found а stable family-reproduced indicators of autobiographical memories belonging to the "family life" scenario, these include the emotional profile of the memories of lives, the level of scenario (fixation of socially approved events); representation of memories of other people (social orientation). The low values of these indicators can be the risk factors for asocial behavior.

This article examines intergenerational relations from the perspective of Taiwanese youth. Specifically, the major focus is on how the relations between second and third generations may be affected by prior family experiences between first, second, and third generations. Possible effects of the three-generation living arrangement on intergenerational relations are also explored. Panel data of 2,500 seventh graders in 2000 in northern Taiwan show that half of teenagers were raised in coresidence living arrangement with grandparents. Results confirm that relations between grandparents and parents and between grandparents and grandchildren do affect parent-teenager relations. Notably, more so than coresidence, the early family experience of being cared for by paternal grandparents produces significant positive effects on adolescent-father relations and negative adolescent-father relations if cared for by maternal grandparents. It is suggested that the impact of earlier family process on subsequent family relations is worth further investigation.

Self-concept of someone is heavily influenced by various factors, which include gender, cultural background and status. Related to guidance and counseling services in improving teenagers’ self-concept who live in an orphanage, is necessary to obtain a clear description about self- concept with a variety of factors that can affect it. This research uses a quantitative approach to type descriptive comparative. The research methods applied in the study was ex post facto with a sampling of data retrieval, research design using factorial design 2 x 4 x 2. Teenager’s self-concept of men and women are in middle category, average value of boys’ score are higher than girls, it means that boys have more positive view of themselves than girls. 2) Teenager’s self-concept in orphanages based on the cultural background of the Minangkabau, Mentawai, Java, and Batak are in middle category, there were no differences in teenager’ self-concept based on the cultural background of the Minangkabau, Mentawai, Java, and Batak who lives in an orphanage. 3) Teenager’s self-concept with orphan status and surrogate parents are in middle category, average value scores of teenager orphan status is higher than teenagers with the status of surrogate parents, it means that teenagers with orphan status have positive view of himself rather than teenagers with surrogate parent status. 4) Teenager’s self-concept in terms of gender, cultural background, and status are in middle category, and there are interactions between gender variable, cultural background and status in explaining teenager’s self-concept. The implications of these results for the counselor are for a material consideration in the preparation of counseling service programs in improving teenager’s self-concept in an orphanage.

Los resultados dan cuenta de la relación existente entre el ejercicio de la paternidad en los adolescentes y los modelos parentales que tuvieron en sus historias de vida. Se identificaron tres modalidades parentales predominantes: El padre que es apoyado, el padre sustituido y el padre carente de apoyo. The study was of character qualitative and based on a historical hermeneutic approach, the sample was shaped by 10 teen parents and the information was gathered across the techniques of interactive workshop and semi structured interviews. The results show the existing relation between the exercise of the paternity in the teenagers and the parental models that they had in their histories of life. Three predominant parental modalities were identified: The parent who is supported, the replaced parent and the parent lacking in support. ABSTRACT. The risk-taking issue of sexual behavior at a young age often leads to bad damage for the teenager and its surroundings when viewed as an asset of a nation to engage in such an aspect of development, the preoccupation of sexual behavior must be overcome by involving a number of important factors among famlies, school, peers, religiousity, social media, and local cultural values. The aims of the discussion, then is to recognize the simultaneous impact of six preventive factors : risky sexual behavior on the teenager, and individual relationships with adolescent risky sexual behavior. The methods used are double-regression quantitative and the correlation by Karl Pearson. Participant engaged by 150 students (sevent – nine grade) with saturated technique sampling. The scales that used are the parent-adolescent relationship scale (Hair, dkk., 2005), quality of school life scale (Eptein dan McPartland, 1998), CAYCI peer relationship scale : middle/high school student version (Butcher, dkk., 2016), the adolescent religious coping scale (Bjorck, 2009), outside and inside school media of behavior scale (Lu, dkk., 2018), cultural intelligence scale (Earley dan Ang, 2003), and the scale of risky sexual behavior. The result of the research hypothesis is accepted, which means there are simultaneous effect of six factors on adolescent risky sexual behavior with a value of 9,179 and of significance = 0,000, and there is a significant negative relationship between each factor and the risky sexual behavior of adolescents. The value of the six preventive factors is in high categroies, and the risky sexual behavior of adolescents is in a low category. This result indicates that six specific factors can be established as a primary mediator incoping with sexual behavior at risk for the adolescence of the platinum generation

Abstract Introduction Sleep is vital for healthy development from infancy through adolescence. Despite its importance, false beliefs that conflict with scientific evidence (myths) may be common among caregivers and impair sleep health during these crucial stages. Methods Researchers compiled a list of potential myth statements using internet searches of popular press and scientific literature. We utilized a Delphi process with experts (n=12) from the fields of pediatric, sleep, and circadian research and clinical practice. Selection and refinement of myths by sleep experts proceeded in three phases, including: focus groups (Phase 1); email-based feedback to edit, add, or remove myths (Phase 2); and closed-ended questionnaires (Phase 3) where experts rated myths on two dimensions: (1) falseness and (2) public health significance using 5-point Likert scale: 1 (“not at all”) to 5 (“extremely false/important”). Results Thirty-two sleep myths were identified across three developmental categories: infant (14 myths), child (6 myths), and adolescent (12 myths). Mean expert ratings illuminated the most pressing myths in each developmental category: infant sleep (“Sleep training causes psychological harm, including reduced parent-child attachment:” falseness =4.7, s.d.=0.7; public health significance=4.0, s.d.=1.1); child sleep (“Heavy, loud snoring for my child means he’s sleeping deeply:” falseness=4.8, s.d.=0.6; public health significance=4.7, s.d.=0.7), and teenager sleep (“Falling asleep in class means your teenager is lazy and not motivated:” falseness=4.8, s.d.=0.5; public health significance=4.3, s.d.=0.8). Conclusion The current study identified commonly-held myths about infant, child, and adolescent sleep that are not supported by (or worse, counter to) scientific evidence. If unchecked, these myths may hinder sleep at a critical developmental stage. Familiarity of teens-parents and high school teenagers with incidence of depression in Yogyakarta CityPurposeThis study aimed to determine the differences in the incidence of depression in high school teenagers who are familiar and not familiar with their parents in Yogyakarta City.MethodsThis research was a cross-sectional study, involving 200 high school teenagers in Yogyakarta city and conducted in five high schools in Yogyakarta city. The independent variable was familiarity of parent-teens, the dependent variable was teenager depression and external variables were gender, parental employment status, and socioeconomic status. Data analysis included univariable, and bivariable analysis with Chi-square tests, to determine the strength of the relationship between independent and dependent variable and multivariable analysis with logistic regression tests.ResultsBivariable analysis showed a significant correlation between familiarity of parent-teens with teenagers’ depression. Teenagers who were not familiar with their parents were potentially 3.7 times more likely to get depressed than teenagers who were familiar with their parents. Multivariable analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between parental familiarity with teenagers’ depression when controlled for the variable of gender. Teenagers who are not familiar with their parents and female gender have 7.6 times greater potential to become depressed than teenagers who are familiar with their parents and male gender.ConclusionThe incidence of depression in high school teenagers who are not familiar with their parents was higher than teenagers who are familiar with their parents.

Introduction. The article is dedicated to the problem of child-parent relationships (acceptance and behavior control practices by fathers). The context of modern family trends and various socio-demographic indicators of family life in the Russian Federation is also significant. The main hypothesis of the article: the indicators of acceptance and overprotection by fathers (in full families) differ in the context of such variables as a gender of the respondent, number of children in the family, and type of settlement in which the family lives. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted in public secondary schools in eight regions of the Russian Federation. For data collection, an online survey was used. The sample consisted of 3 526 respondents from full families (57 % female). The mean age of the respondents was 16 years. Data analysis was carried out using the following statistical processing methods: Kruskal-Wallis test, multiple linear regressions. Results. It was found that girls statistically higher evaluate perceived indicators of “care” and “overprotection” by fathers than boys. It was also found that respondents from v illages, urban settlements, and small towns (less than 100 thousand people) statistically higher evaluate perceived indicators of control (“overprotection”) by fathers. In families with a large number of children (3 or more) from cities with a high population (more than 500000), the indicators of perceived overprotection by the father are lower. Discussion and Conclusion. Results allow us to put forward an assumption that practices of adolescents’ behavior control by fathers differ (in the Russian Federation) in the context of locality (size of the population) in which the family lives. It is also worth noting that the acceptance of a teenager by parents is largely dependent on the psychological characteristics of interaction inside the family, while indicators of overprotection (and control practices) are significantly associated with environmental factors. The results are of interest in the context of family and youth policy agenda.

A two-year follow-up study of 165 teenagers with conduct and emotional disorders treated as in-patients on a regional adolescent unit (YPU) is described. The target types of behaviour for each subject were scored independently by the teenager, the parent or guardian, and the professional referrer before admission and at one month, one year and two years after discharge. The significant overall improvement in behaviour observed at one month after discharge was sustained at one and two years. Thirty-three subjects who abandoned treatment within six weeks of admission had made significantly less progress than the fully treated group at one month after discharge, but there were no significant differences at the one- and two-year evaluations. Two years after treatment, between 69% and 79% of the 132 subjects who completed treatment were regarded as improved, depending on which respondent made the assessment. Adolescents who completed treatment had different characteristics from those who terminated treatment prematurely and were more likely to be girls in care referred by social services.

Domestic violence is a long-standing phenomenon in society. Domestic violence impacts the physical and psychological, especially related to the psychological wellbeing of the victims who experience, witness and observe the domestic violence. The victims included children from parents who experienced domestic violence, namely children and adolescents. Based on this, the researcher designed a research instrument to identify the conditions of the psychological well-being of adolescents living with parents who experienced domestic violence. This instrument was tested with 30 respondents from the vocational high school Y students in Padang City. The results of the trial were analyzed using rasch models. The test results describe that this instrument is feasible to use. It is seen from the construct of this instrument to meet the requirements of things that must be measured, the results of the validity of the items there are 8 items considered not to be used. The reliability value of this instrument item is 0.89 and the reliability of the person is 0.91. These results show that this instrument is feasible to be used to measure the psychological well condition of being a teenager living with a domestic violence parent.

When parents see their children’s problems as opportunities to build the relationship instead of as a negative, burdensome irritation, it totally changes the nature of parent-child interaction.... When a child comes to them with a problem ... their paradigm is, “Here is a great opportunity for me to really help my child and to invest in our relationship.”... [S]trong bonds of love and trust are created as children sense the value parents give to their problems and to them as individuals (Covey 1989: 203). Many of us will know the scenario: sitting peacefully in a chair after a hard day’s work, reading a novel and listening to some music, when in comes a teenager with a tale to tell, perhaps a burden to share. Our relaxed restfulness is interrupted, a problem is presented: how do we respond? Parents such as Covey describes focus on building the bonds of trust: they choose to know the situation as ethically-qualified; they are responsive to the “pedagogical moment” (Van Manen 1991). While entering empathically into their child’s concerns, they continue to attend to the norms of faithfulness that obtain in such a situation with a special force.

Scientific interest in students’ emotional and psychosocial experiences has been increasing in the last years due to their influence on students’ learning processes and academic performance. The present manuscript tries to go further in the study of the relationship between perceived parenting socialization and academic performance by analyzing not only their direct effects, but also by testing their indirect influence through other variables such as students’ psychological and school maladjustment, especially focusing on gender differences (both of students and parents). The sample comprised 823 students (416 males and 407 females) from the Basque Country (Spain), with ages ranging between 12 and 16 years (M = 13.7, SD = 1.2). Students completed a sociodemographic data form, the PARQ-Control questionnaire, and the BASC-S3 test. Teachers answered an ad hoc question on each student’s academic performance. The data showed that, both for males and females, the same structure of parent–teenager relationship predicted teenagers’ academic performance, via psychological and school maladjustment. However, the intensity of the relationship between parental acceptance and teenagers’ results in all the other factors differed depending on teenagers’ gender. Fathers’ influence was greater in males, and mothers’ influence was higher in females. This study is considered a starting point for a theoretical model predicting academic performance and psychological and school maladjustment among teenagers.

Physical changes in teenager is a principal characteristic from biologic process in puberty age. The wrong attitude in confront of physical changes can make girl dislike moreover hate the physical changesthat she’s got, so the parent have an important role to girl’s attitude. The objective of this research is to analyze the correlation of girls perception about parenting education type with the attitude of teenagerfacing physical changes in puberty age in Student of 7th class of Junior High School 13 Malang City. This research is using observational with cross sectional. Number of population 120 students, number of sample 92 students, with simple random sampling technique. Data collecting applies questioner sheet filled out by the respondent. Data is showing table type and text. The result of research is using chisquare showing that majority of respondent are democratic type about 59 students (64,1%). Majority of respondent (64,1%) have negative attitude (unfavorable) in confront of physical changes, and the girls that have perception democratic type have negative attitude (unfavorable) in confront of physical changes. Then, be obtain value x2 table (5,991), and the conclusion that there is no Corelation between perception about Parenting Education Type with Attitude Facing Physical Changes in Puberty Age.Keyword: girls, parenting education type, physical change

Parental status as a single parent affects the foster pattern of young children who have an impact on child nutrition status. The pattern of the mother's feeding to the child is influenced by education, knowledge of nutrition, economics, family support and employment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the socio-economic relationship of single parents with the frequency of eating and adolescent nutritional status. The study population was a teenager (son/daughter) aged 14-16 to 91 people. Sampling technique with simple random sampling. Inclusion criteria were teenagers (sons/daughters) who do not live in huts, single parents (father alone or mother only). Samples in the study of 87 people. The instruments used for research are brief questionnaires about demographic data (adolescence, single parents, single parent causes, parental education, parental work). Questionnaire for special data frequency meal in a day. Observation sheet to analyze the weight and height of teenagers. Analysis of research data using Chi Square. The results showed that the acquired value P = 0,000 means there is a relationship between the social economy of a single parent with the frequency of adolescent eating and P = 0,003 means there is a relationship between a single parent social economy with a nutritional status of teenagers.

ABSTRAK
Status orang tua tunggal mempengaruhi pola asuh terhadap anak yang beranjak remaja yang berdampak kepada status gizi anak. Pola pemberian makan orang tua kepada anak dipengaruhi oleh tingkat sosial ekonomi keluarga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan frekuensi makan dan status gizi remaja. Populasi penelitian remaja (putra/putri) usia 14-16 tahun sebanyak 91 orang. Teknik sampling dengan simple random sampling. Kriteria inklusi adalah remaja (putra/putri) yang tidak tinggal di pondok, orang tua tunggal (ayah saja atau ibu saja). Sampel dalam penelitian 87 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan kuesioner singkat tentang data demografi (umur remaja, orang tua tunggal, penyebab orang tua menjadi tunggal, pendidikan orang tua, pekerjaan orang tua). Kuesioner untuk data khusus frekuensi makan dalam sehari. Lembar observasi untuk menganalisi berat badan dan tinggi badan remaja. Analisis data menggunakan Chi Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan diperoleh nilai p=0,000 berarti ada hubungan antara sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan frekuensi makan remaja dan p=0,003 berarti ada hubungan antara sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan status gizi remaja.

Purpose. This study examines the relationship between smoking-related parental, family, and home factors with adolescents' cigarette use. Design. Cross-sectional surveys of adolescents, via a self-administered questionnaire in classrooms, and their parents, via a telephone interview, were conducted. Setting. Fifteen suburban and rural communities within Minnesota. Subjects. The study sample included 8th, 9th, and 10th grade public school students and their parents. Measures. The dependent variable was monthly tobacco use among students. The independent measures were parental, family, and home smoking-related characteristics. There were 1343 parent-child dyads with completed surveys. Results. The final, multivariate logistic regression model found the following variables to be independently related to higher smoking rates among adolescents: child's grade (odds ratio [OR] = 3.03 for 10th vs. 8th), parents' permissiveness of adult smoking (OR = 1.80), parents' having higher normative estimates of how many people smoke (OR = 1.70), parents' decreased likelihood of punishing their teenager for smoking (OR = 1.65), smoking by an adult living in the home (OR = 1.99), and sibling smoking (OR = 8.95). Lack of communication about consequences for breaking family smoking rules was associated with lower smoking rates among adolescents (OR = .49). Conclusion. The results of this study highlight the importance of parental smoking norms and attitudes and smoking role models in the home. It is important that smoking prevention strategies target and include the entire family. Limitations of the study are its cross-sectional design and that the sample was primarily white.

Introduction: The quality of life of children with sickle cell disease (SCD) depends on the severity, timing and number of painful episodes (vaso-occlusive crises, VOC) and their need for medical treatment and hospitalizations. The objective of this study was to explore the experiences of pediatric patients and their families during VOC. Methods: This qualitative study used semi-structured one-on-one and focus group interviews, designed in partnership with two patients and one parent, in a single center, tertiary care pediatric university-affiliated hospital. Two groups of participants were interviewed independently: (1) adolescent patients aged 12 to 18 years old hospitalised within the last 2 years for VOC, (2) parents of pediatric patients with SCD hospitalised within the last 2 years for VOC. Data was transcribed in full and analysed using NVivo12. Descriptive thematic content analysis was performed by coding themes emerging from data. After validating codes through interjudge assessment by consensus, themes from teenagers’ and parent's discourses were systematically compared for the final analysis. Results: Between June and August 2018, 8 interviews were conducted. 10 parents and 5 adolescents participated. Teenagers’ and parents’ answers mirrored each other's. Prompt pain relief was crucial, although the side effects of pain relief medications used were an added source of suffering. Recent quality improvement initiatives such as standardised order sheets were noteworthy improvements, though personalizing care to each patient's with pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods was also important to participants. Given the unpredictability and severity of VOC, their impact on both patients’ and families’ lives were substantial, as was the long term emotional burden. Parents felt guilty given the hereditary nature of the disease, they encouraged neonatal and prenatal testing, and they sought definitive treatments for both VOC and SCD. Tensions within parent-teenager relationships were described centered on developing autonomy and protecting the child to improve adherence to treatments. Conclusion: Participants emphasized the need to provide timely adequate analgesia, through both standardised quality improvement initiatives and a personalised approach to analgesia. Understanding the impact of VOC on patients’ lives and their socio-familial context is important to tailor clinical interventions.

Communication technology developing rapidly in this globalization era makes a lot of people use gadget as one of any media for communicate and entertaiment. Not only adult but teenager in school age. That increasing use of gadget for parent and teenager cause a new phenomena in family called alone together. This reasearch aim to give a description about the effect of alone together phenomenon on family interaction. This reasearch was conducted in 209 Junior High School, East Jakarta. This data reasearch processed by using simple random sampling technique and this reasearch use survey methode. Total samples 185 active students in 209 Junior High School, East Jakarta. This whole reasearch data are using SPSS 2.2 and Microsoft Excel. The prerequisite test in this study use kolmogorov smirnov for normality test and the result shows that data are not normally distribute. So the reasearch use non parametric calculation. Result of correlation coefficient test are obtained > that is equal to -0,353 > 0,138. Result of t-test with significancy level 0,05 obtained > that equal to -5,688 > 1,97 the result explain that there are a negative and significant correlation between alone together and family interaction. Alone together give 15% effective contribute to family interaction and the other 85% determine by other factors.
Abstrak
Teknologi komunikasi yang berkembang dengan cepat di era globalisasi membuat banyak masyarakat menggunakan gadget sebagai salah satu media atau sarana berkomunikasi dan mencari hiburan. Tidak hanya orang dewasa melainkan remaja dalam usia sekolah. Meningkatnya penggunaan gadget yang berlebih pada orang tua dan remaja tersebut menimbulkan suatu fenomena baru di dalam keluarga, yang disebut dengan alone together. Akibat dari fenomena tersebut adalah berkurangnya intensitas interaksi di dalam keluarga, khususnya interaksi antara orang tua dan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran hubungan fenomena alone together dengan interaksi keluarga. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 209 Jakarta Timur. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan simple random sampling. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 185 siswa aktif di SMP Negeri 209 Jakarta Timur. Perhitungan data menggunakan SPSS 2.2 dan Excel. Uji prasyarat pada penelitian ini menggunakan uji normalitas kolmogorov smirnov dan hasil yang ada menyatakan bahwa data tidak berdistribusi dengan normal, maka penelitian ini mengunakan perhitungan non parametrik. Uji hipotesis data yang digunakan adalah korelasi dengan hasil > yaitu sebesar -0,353 > 0,138. Hasil uji t dengan taraf signifikasi 0,05 diperoleh yaitu > -5,688 > 1,97 hal ini menjelaskan bahwa terdapat korelasi negatif dan hubungan yang signifikan antara fenomena alone together dengan interaksi keluarga. Alone together memberikan sumbangan efektif terhadap interaksi keluarga sebesar 15%, sedangkan sisanya 85% ditentukan oleh faktor lain yang tidak diteliti.

Nowadays, when most people are on the Internet and “connected” most time of the day and night, the Internet becomes a place of the socialization of modern children and adolescents, which requires a rethinking of changes in user activity, digital competence and online risks in recent years. The aim of this study was to compare user activity, online risks, and digital competence in adolescents and parents according to three population studies carried out in 2010, 2013, and 2019. The data of 1219 parents of 12—17-year-old adolescents and 1553 adolescents aged 12-17 years from 15 regions of Russia who replied to the research questions in 2019 were compared with the answers of 1203 adolescents aged 12—17 years and 1209 parents in 2013, as well as with the answers of 685 pairs “parent — teenager aged 12—16 years” in 2010. It was shown that a higher level of user activity by 2019 allows suggesting its transformation into experience of a “combined” reality, manifested at an objective level in complementing the online activity with most of daytime activities and at a subjective level — in adolescents’ experience of reality as combined and not divided into online and offline. Compared to 2010, adolescents are significantly less likely to encounter sexual content and malware online, but more often experience cyber-aggression and public revealing of their personal information without their consent. The overall level of digital competency by 2019 is higher than in 2013 for both adolescents and parents, with the largest changes related to responsibility, and the minimum changes — to motivation to improve their knowledge.

Masturbation is the activity of stimulate with touch or sex organs own up and down my leg . It is influenced by a factor of the development of the reproductive organs of growth that occurs in adolescents. Due to change sexual maturity is biologically experienced by teenager is one of the things that can cause teenagers experienced confusion in the face of sexual impulse is by masturbates. This study aims to analyze determinan of masturbation in adolescents public SMA Negeri 3 Tapung Kampar district in 2017. Method this study used a cross sectional. The sample collection in this research be conducted by way of technique stratified random sampling namely high school students which is going to be based on the number of sample were randomly selected a total of desired many as 87 students . Analysis done in univariat and bivariat by test statistic chi-square aimed at independent and to connect between variable. The research results show that 75,9 % of respondents exposed to mass media, 78.2 % of respondents knowledge low, 60,9 % of respondents have people parents are not had a role, 77 % of respondents have leverage their peers an influential.From the test chi-square shows that there are meaningful relations between the media mass (pvalue = 0,001 and or = 6,591 2,126-20,429), knowledge (pvalue = 0,018 and or = or = 4,200 1,405-12,558 ), the role of parents (pvalue = 0,001 and or = 8,533 2,726-26,708 ), and influence their peers (pvalue = 0,005 and or = 5,091 1,713-15,128). The conclusion the results of research 4 variables studied (mass media, knowledge, parent role and peer influence) 4 variable have significant relationship with masturbation and suggestions to make parents more able to establish more intensive communicate with adolescents
