This study focused on the technical measures of revegetation on ferrum tailings bank in Huludao, China. Adopting field test method, a revegetation trial was conducted on the Yangjiazhangzi waste ferrum tailings bank. By composting the urban sludge + river mud + straw inside planting pit to ameliorate tailings matrix, planting perennial herb to establish closed type sand barrier to shelter bush-herbage growth, transplanting nutrition cup bush seedlings and sowing herbage seed on the composting pit to establish bush-herbage clump, these technical measures can solve the major constraints to plant

Sanitation is one of the most pressing issues faced by the population in the peri-urban Ger areas of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Poorly constructed pit latrines have caused environmental, socioeconomic and health problems especially Hepatitis A, among the residents, which is predominant among children less than 5 years old. This research aimed to investigate the feasibility of co-composting fecal matter with different recipes using two different technologies, i.e. composting facility and greenhouse (GH) technology. Food wastes produce methane gas that results greater impact on global warming than carbon dioxide. The composting technology is one of the alternatives, as it is the highest form of recycling of biodegradable solid waste. The study was undertaken to utilize food waste generated, into organic manure using effective micro-organism. The effects of adjusting the initial carbon to nitrogen (C:N) ration and pH of pig manure and straw mixes on ammonia emissions and pathogen marker inactivation during composting were investigated by experimentation and modelling. Three, 210-litre reactors were designed and built to control conditions, such as the maximum operating temperature, minimise temperature gradients and enable analysis of the off-gas for ammonia, water, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Respirometry showed that the optimal temperature for composting pig manure was about 60°C. A simulation model suggested that ammonia emission
