The performance of propylene glycol (PG) on the grindability, setting and hardening of Portland (OPC) and Portland-Limestone cements (PLC) was studied. Propylene glycol was added to OPC clinker with percentage ratios; 0, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05 wt.% of the OPC clinker. PLC was made by replacing 5 and 10 wt. % of OPC with limestone. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the PLC and MATLAB, describes the OPC technology and introduces the system structures and procedures which uses the OPC technology to achieve the exchange of data between PLC and MATLAB system. For example, in the plastic tank temperature control system, it mentions the BP neural network PID control algorithm which is applied to the PLC control system by using the MATLAB intelligent controller. The results show that this control method is simple and the control effect is good, much better than the traditional PID control.

OPC has been widely applied to coal mine automation control system as an industry standard of communication between the field control substation and PC in the control system. In this paper, through the analysis and design for the transport system of coal mine belt conveyor, communication between the PC and S7-300 PLC is realized by using OPC technology. This chapter examines how peacebuilding as a policy discourse and practice has been developed and applied in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). It first traces the emergence of peacebuilding as a Western policy discourse in the context of colonization, its evolution into a hegemonic project in the post-Cold War period, and the key assumptions and policies that underpin it. It then considers the situation in which Western peacebuilding and and statebuilding practices and policies were applied in the OPT—inserted as they were into the framework created by the Oslo Accords and subsequent peace agreements between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). It also explores how these policies and practices were shaped by global structures of power as they manifest themselves in the region, along with the particular application of these peacebuilding policies and their impacts. The chapter concludes by arguing that peacebuilding strategies in the OPT have contributed toward creating what it calls a “zombie peace”.

This chapter provides an overview on the impact of private labels' trade dress code on consumers' product choices and attitudes, assessing to what extent the adoption of different type of packaging increases the likelihood of purchase of private labels, specifically when retailers opt for a copycatting packaging strategy. Few prior studies have systematically examined the implications of this strategy often adopted by retail marketers. This chapter offers an empirical perspective of this problem, analyzing it in a simulated supermarket experiment, across multiple product categories. Findings suggest that with exception of a few product-categories, copycat strategies have a positive impact on PLs likelihood of purchase. In certain product categories as groceries and pet food, the differential between likelihood of purchase of PL when following a copycat strategy vs a own-packaging strategy can go up to 15 p.p., highlighting the powerful effect that copycat packages can have on consumers' PLs choice.

Buildings consume major amount of energy as well as natural resources leading to negative environmental impacts like resource depletion and pollution. The current task for the construction sector is to develop an evaluation tool for rating of buildings based on their environmental impacts. There are various assessment tools and models developed by different agencies in different countries to evaluate building's effect on environment. Although these tools have been successfully used and implemented in the respective regions of their origin, the problems of application occur, especially during regional adaptation in other countries due to peculiarities associated with the specific geographic location, climatic conditions, construction methods and materials. India is a rapidly growing economy with exponential increase in housing sector. Impact assessment model for a residential building has been developed based on life cycle assessment (LCA) framework. The life cycle impact assessment score was obtained for a sample house considering fifteen combinations of materials paired with 100% thermal electricity and 70%-30% thermal-solar combination, applying normalization and weighting to the LCA results. The LCA score of portland slag cement with burnt clay red brick and 70%-30% thermal-solar combination (PSC+TS+RB) was found to have the best score and ordinary Portland cement with flyash brick and 100% thermal power (OPC+T+FAB) had the worst score, showing the scope for further improvement in LCA model to include positive scores for substitution of natural resources with industrial waste otherwise polluting the environment.

Résumé :

The present factsheet summarizes the study ”Comparative Analysis and Design of Solar Based Parabolic Trough - ORC Cogeneration Plant for a Commercial Centre” performed by the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain) and published in 2020 [1]. Two novel solar based PTC-ORC cogeneration systems, producing power and cooling, were pre-designed, considering commercially available pieces of equipment, to cover the annual energy demands of a commercial centre located in Zaragoza (Spain).
