To fabricate a thermally stable optical filter in the mid-infrared (MIR) region, a plasmonic metal disk array (PMDA) using tantalum (Ta) was proposed, and the filter performance was compared with that of conventional silver (Ag)-based PMDAs. A finite-difference time-domain method was utilized to systematically analyze the effects of geometric configuration and constituent materials on the optical properties of PMDA filters with a periodic hexagonal lattice. ABSTRACT The protocatechuate (PCA) 4,5-cleavage (PCA45) pathway is the essential catabolic route for the degradation of various aromatic acids in the genus Comamonas. All of the PCA45 pathway genes, orf1-pmdKEFDABC, as well as another PCA 4,5-dioxygenase gene, pmdA II B II, were isolated from a phthalate-degrading bacterium, Comamonas sp. strain E6. Disruption of pmdB and pmdD in E6, which code for the β subunit of PCA 4,5-dioxygenase and 2-pyrone-4,6-dicarboxylate (PDC) hydrolase, respectively, resulted in a growth defect on PCA, indicating that these genes are essential for the growth of E6

Résumé :
Structural properties of resins based on epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) were investigated in reference to varying amounts of the hardener components methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA), pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and maleic acid (MA). This includes gel time and the Shore A and D hardness. The shortest gel time of 0.9 min and the highest Shore A and D hardness of 85 and 34 were found at a nMTHPA/nPMDA/nMA molar ratio of 8/1/8. To study the effect of the ELO mass on gel time and hardness, different masses of ELO (8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 g) were used, keeping the amount of the hardener sys

Wheat powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici) has increased in Delta Egypt in recent years as a result of growing susceptible cultivars of bread wheat. Fifty-two isolates of B. graminis f. sp. tritici collected in 2013 and 2014 from commercial fields in five provinces were analyzed for virulence, using 21 genes conferring resistance to powdery mildew (Pm genes) as well as 12 local wheat cultivars. First true leaves of 10-day-old wheat differentials were inoculated with isolates derived from a single pustule of B. graminis f. sp. tritici. No virulence to the resistance genes Pm3d, Pm1

Film blowing of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is challenging due its inherently low melt viscosity and poor melt strength. In this study, it is shown how the rheological properties of a commercial PET can be altered by reactive extrusion using either pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) or a multifunctional epoxy (Joncryl® ADR 4368) as chain extender, in order to improve the processing behavior during film blowing. The modified materials were characterized by shear and elongation rheometry and relevant processing characteristics, like melt pressure, bubble stability, and film thickness uniform

PMDA-ODA and BPDA-PDA polyimides in 10-50 Atrn thick films were prepared from the respective poly(amic acid) precursor by thermal imidization for 1-10 h at various temperatures over 230-400C. Their water sorption behaviours were studied in detail by gravimetry. Water sorption in both PMDA-ODA and BPDA-PDA followed a nearly Fickian process in spite of the morphological heterogeneity due to the ordered and less ordered phases. Water clustering or plasticization was very weakly evident on the water uptake versus humidity plots. Water sorption in both polyimides was highly dependent upon imidizati
