At the soybean harvest planning stage, agricultural producers often face the task of objectively assessing crop losses. The level of losses during soybean harvesting depends on many factors and can vary significantly. To minimize these losses and improve production efficiency, it is important to know the loss indicators for each combine separately and for the entire enterprise as a whole. This paper proposes to use a specially developed model to predict possible soybean losses during harvesting. The model considers technological losses associated with the operation of combines, as well as loss

The building envelope is a barrier that separates the internal environment from the effects of weather. This barrier ought to facilitate the optimal comfort of the interior environment in winter as well as summer. It has been shown in practice that most building defects occur within the building envelope. This includes external walls, roofs and floors too, and is impartial to new or renovated buildings. Heat losses of buildings through external constructions – roof, external walls, ground slabs are not negligible. It is therefore important to pay more attention to these construction elements.

We perform this analysis by introducing a novel loss function, the strategic manipulation loss, which takes into account both the accuracy of th

However, it cannot expect to receive whatever amount of money it demands and it will usually be faced with a dispute about which losses are claimable. For example, lost profits should be claimable, but what about compensation to cover the costs of correcting a breach? Abstract One of the issues of handling large CFD datasets and process them to derive important design correlations is the limitation in automating the post-processing of data. Machine learning techniques, developed to process large unlabelled dataset, can play a key role on this subject. In this work an unsupervised approach to isolate different flow features inside a 2D cascade is proposed and validated. The approach relies on machine learning methods and in particular on Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and Principal Component Analysis for the pre-processing of the data and on K-means cluster

Résumé :
About 2 billion children were affected by school closures globally at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to documented learning losses while children were out of school, and an especially precarious future academic path for pupils in developing countries where learning and continued enrolment remain important issues. There is an urgent need to understand the extent of these learning and enrolment losses, and possible policy options to get children back on track. This paper studies the extent of learning losses and recovery in Africa's most populous country, Nigeria, and provides s

Résumé :
This paper evaluates the use of subsidies to achieve efficient resource utilization, beginning with a discussion of the nature of erosion and methods of estimating rates of erosion. The second section presents a short review of the literature on onsite and offsite erosion damage assessment, which concludes that in tropical regions it is easier at present to identify onsite productivity losses than offsite damages. The next section presents an evaluation of the economic arguments for government intervention, followed by a discussion of possible alternatives to subsidies (such as direct interven

Despite their remoteness from each other, Japan and Mexico share a critical characteristic: the seismic hazard. In the past, both nations have been hit by great earthquakes that have caused serious human and material losses. Although the prediction of earthquakes is not yet possible, the development of early warning systems and their constant innovation is a priority, especially the studies of the horizontal-to-vertical spectral relationship of microseisms, which can help the study and understanding of earthquakes’ nature, as well as their impact on infrastructure. It is for mutual benefit to

As the innovative practice of recent years has shown, one of the main issues and problems of complex smart electronic devices, especially those including laser diodes, is the issue of reliable and efficient cooling In order to eliminate energy losses and increase the output of effective energy, especially in various lighting systems, an active search is being carried out for integrative technical solutions that allow, without the use of additional structural elements and additional energy costs for cooling, In parallel, we are searching for and developing technical solutions that make it possi

Résumé :
This technical paper provides us with an in-depth explanation of how losses due to catastrophes are insured and who absorbs the costs of compensating the insured assets. In the absence of an effective insurance market, the government often becomes the de facto financier of postdisaster rehabilitation efforts. Alternatively, governments can encourage the local insurance industry to engage in risk financing arrangements through insurance pools that, in turn, may cover higher exposures in the global reinsurance and capital markets. This study takes a closer look at how this type of international

Résumé :
This paper focuses on the design of intergovernmental transfers to reduce vertical and horizontal fiscal imbalances and improve the performance of subnational governments. It provides an overview of international experiences, especially of large federations, with a view to devising viable options for reform of the transfer system in Mexico. While there is no one-size-fits-all ideal model of design and implementation of intergovernmental transfer systems, this analysis points to some lessons that can inform reforms, including the need to view intergovernmental transfers as an integral part of t

Externalities and private information are key characteristics of an epidemic like the Covid-19 pandemic. We study the welfare costs stemming from the incomplete information environment that these characteristics foster. We develop a framework that embeds a game theory approach into a macro SIR model to analyze the role of information in determining the extent of the health-economy trade-off of a pandemic. We apply the model to the Covid-19 epidemic in the US and find that the costs of keeping health information private are between USD $5.9$ trillion and USD $6.7$ trillion. We then find an opti

The article aims to analyze the structural changes and the Ukrainian labor market organization in the condition of military aggression against Ukraine. The Ukrainian economy encounters the devastating destructions and losses of economic entities, enormous capital, and labor under the effect of military aggression. Structural changes include a change in the industrial structure of production, the destruction of large enterprises, and supply chains, the loss of part of the labor force, and fluctuations between skilled and unskilled jobs. Thus, SMEs in the service sector suffer due to the reducti

Résumé :
The effect of consumers stockpiling certain goods and the slow reaction of retailers to ration them exposed the limitations of cost-efficient and streamlined supply chains to be agile and adapt to unforeseen shocks. This suggests that changes may be needed to make the supply chain more resilient. Specific problems arose from the closure of parts of the catering sector and the lack of agility in redistributing supplies from this sector to retail outlets or the food donation/charity sector. This was due to challenges in packaging availability, logistics and labelling requirements; leading to an
