Texte intégralHe management of jobs and skills is a phrase belonging to the manager vocabulary which gives it a distinct and original organizational dimension. By law the concept has since appeared in the Labour Code of undeniable advertising although it existed before this juridification. She keeps nevertheless a certain dose of mystery partly due to the relationship it has long maintained with redundancies, with the plurality of themes that compose it and the constant changes in its legal system. Since it became an object of social law, she received multiple legal and jurisprudential enrichment. Accordingly, this study which commanded an overall approach to the concept, tends to determine the contours of the management of jobs and skills of the labor law perspective

Texte intégralThis study focuses, within the context of the migration process, on the professional and personal adaptation of returning Indian academics. It examines adaptation in relation to motivations for emigration from India, life abroad, and return motivations.
Professionally, returnees face conflicts with the nature of the institutional environment, with limited opportunities to maximize the skills and knowledge acquired abroad, with the lack of support for research, and the resulting constraints on the contributions they could otherwise make to science and development.
At a personal level, they face conflicts with regards to salary and living conditions, differences in culture and value systems, and conformity with the expectations of others.

The Adaptation Challenges of Quantitatively Minded Professionals: Certain Individuals in Uncertain Times This dissertation focuses on a particular mentality found often in the quantitative and technical, professions. It is one of mathematically minded individuals (Toulmin 2001), with a fairly closed mentality, who sometimes struggle in dealing with the more ambiguous and uncertain reality of today’s organizations. These individuals, referred to as Quants in this analysis, are usually obsessed with objectivity and prediction (Porter 1985) and form part of a particular strong culture (Kunda 2002) usually within Quantitative disciplines, but can also be found in all types of professions. The study takes a professional identity development approach to looking at this subject using narratives as the form of analysis. The objective is to study the narratives of the individuals in each case using ethnographic and open-interview methods so as to understand how the professionals sometimes struggle to “keep their narratives going” (Giddens, 1991) and use identity work techniques (Ibarra 1999, Pratt 2006) to resolve tensions. The Four cases of Quants in the study show four prototypes of professional identity transformation and how each individual reacts differently in each case with the subsequent different effects on the individual mentalities. Much of the study takes part during the Economic crisis of 2008 and in one case the affects of this Crisis on the individual’s identity transformation is quite dramatic. While this study has not focused on the Economic Crisis of 2008, it does focus on a mentality which was very prevalent during the Crisis, and influenced it to some extent, that of individuals who seek to predict social outcomes, reduce uncertainty to risk calculations, argue that markets are self correcting and believe that the more information the more certainty (Blyth 2010, Taleb 2007, Fox 2009).

Texte intégralThe thesis examines the meaning, for young students, of the passage from technical high school to high school, generally by way of classes created specifically for that purpose (special sophomore / 10th form or adaptation classes). Part i deals with epistemological and methodological issues. Taking into account the experience and implications of the researcher, it specifies his relationship to the research object and his adoption of the position of practitioner-researcher, following a psychological orientation. The author let himself be affected by the perturbations inherent in the study, subsequently formalising the different processes contributing to the construction of the research as a whole, and the tension between objectivity and subjectivity. Furthermore, the author employs an approach by complementarities in reference to different aspects of the research object, treating both the fields of education and of professional activity, solliciting quantitative as well as qualitative methods. According a privileged position to interviewing, he develops a paradigm which postulates the mutual enrichment of practice and research. Part ii deals primarily with the research object, as a single form (passage) and as a triple form (bridge, guide, those who pass). It thereby develops the relationships between institutional context, persons, and processes. Numerous forms of passage are presented : detour with return to norms, contemporary rites of initiation, promotion or social revenge, inscription in a filiation,. . . The two parts of the thesis are inseparable, representing the bi-sexuality of the research. The first part, feminine, considers the non mastery of the research process, necessary in order to construct the object, the latter representing more particularly the masculine side. It is through the acceptance of this double face that the author was able to risk his own personal expression

Texte intégralThe exploitation of Artificial Intelligence algorithms in real conditions is an interesting method for their improvement, since weaknesses are shown very quickly thanks to real, uncontrolled constraints. In particular, I study two problems of medical diagnosis and a classical problem of robot navigation. Using fuzzy sets with Markov models provide an intuitive but powerful system to solve such situations. Then, I introduce diagnosis learning which betters the cooperation with doctors, as it allows correcting the model while ensuring numerical stability. Thus, doctors can modify the patient model without setting each parameter manually. Finally, I show this approach can be generalized to a whole class of diagnosis problems. To achieve this goal, I show an integrated development environment that allows to simply link modules altogether to have a given problem solved. This should help creating new applications, while minimizing the programming time of researchers

Texte intégralOur research is based on a comparative analysis of what we call the Professional Skills of Linguistic Adaptation (PSLA) in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) employed in France, and in particular, in international sections at primary school. It is aimed at understanding how primary school teachers, working in a multilingual context, adapt themselves to pupils’ heterogeneity in the language of instruction. Our study focuses on ordinary classes (classes taught in French and English section classes) and groups of French as a foreign language and English as a second language, in the nursery and elementary schools of a state-run International School in PACA. Through a comparative approach, we wish to understand how the status of the language of instruction (vernacular or vehicular), the pupils’ ages and the level of linguistic heterogeneity influence the PSLA teachers use. For each of these three factors, we compare two sessions in ordinary classes and two sessions conducted in support schemes aimed at facilitating pupils’ integration to the language of instruction, in order to illustrate also the impact of the type of teaching (ordinary or specialised) on the primary school teachers’ use of PSLA. We compare the number, category and type of PSLA used by teachers and also the forms they take through “the teachers’ concerns structuring the didactic environment” (Bucheton, 2011), the instances when teachers employ them through “the quadruplet of the structure of the teacher's action” (Sensevy & Mercier, 2007), and for what purposes through the “4 Cs” (Coyle, 2002)

Texte intégralThe societal context of work and vocational training is evolving. Training is more individualized, orientated towards missions and projects, rather than focused on traditional roles, professions or jobs. The development of block release training (apprenticeships) is one of the responses of higher education to the issues raised. The specificities of the alternation generate a need for support for the apprentice; however, this function is underdeveloped. To ensure the professionalization of teachers, this training activity needs to be better defined. Few publications describe how accompaniment interviews should be conducted. This thesis aims to contribute to this knowledge by relying on two frameworks: science of professional education and dynamic situations mastery. The collection and analysis of data were organized around “autodebrief interviews” during which the accompanists identified the specific skills they needed during an interview. This method mainly allowed the analysis of the activity of four accompanists, with reference to 17 interviews with 16 apprentices within a large higher education organization of engineering by apprenticeship. The results show that the conduct of the accompanying interviews can be seen as the accompanists having control of the dynamic situation of the interview. This last can be characterized as designed to help the accompanied to control the dynamic situations related to their training project (which are specific to their profession). The observed interviews can be broken down into five sub-activities: introduction, diagnosis, invitation to an adjustment, control and conclusion. It is organized around two major concepts: coherence and adaptation. It mobilizes the profile of the accompanied, operative patterns and a library of invariants which can be synthesized by generic markers for the conduct of an interview
Chang, Chia-Chuan. « Development and Evaluation of Psychometric Properties of the Chinese Version of the Professional Practice Environment Scale in Taiwan ». Thesis, Boston College, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/2345/702.
Texte intégralIn Taiwan, the ability to measure the changing of health care reform and the improvement in nursing practice environment is hindered by the lack of a valid, reliable, and culture-sensitive instrument for measuring nursing practice environment. The purposes of this two-phase study were to translate and psychometrically validate the Chinese versions of the PPE Scale (CPPE). Phase I focused on translating and adapting the 38-item PPE into CPPE and evaluating the semantic and content equivalency. Semantic equivalence of the CPPE was secured using Translation Validity Indices as judged by American and bilingual experts. The content equivalence of the CPPE was supported by the satisfactory Content validity Indices. To increase the cultural sensitivity and comprehensiveness of the CPPE, 27 items were added at the suggestion of Taiwanese experts following content validation. A 66-item CPPE including 38 PPE items, 1 adapted item and 27 new items was produced for psychometric evaluation. Phase II focused on establishing the psychometric properties of the CPPE. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to test the 66-item CPPE on 977 Taiwanese nurses working in acute care settings. PCA with Varimax rotation on the 38 PPE items produced an eight-component solution for the 36-item CPPE after deleting two items. Cronbach's alpha was .90 for the total 36-item CPPE and .68 - .87 for the eight subscales. PCA with Varimax rotation on 66 items of the CPPE produced an eleven-component solution for the 58-item CPPE after deleting 8 items. Cronbach's alpha was .95 for the total 58-item CPPE and .71 - .87 for the eleven subscales. Both the 36-item CPPE and the 58-item CPPE demonstrated satisfactory test-retest reliability and concurrent validity. The psychometric structures of the 36-item CPPE and the 58-item CPPE were different from the original PPE. Both the 36-item CPPE and the 58-item CPPE were reliable and valid, but the 58-item CPPE is culturally sensitive to the Taiwanese nurses. The 58-item CPPE is useful for measuring Taiwanese nursing practice environment

Texte intégralThe professional mobility law, although it has many definitions, still requires construction work. Between the obligations of the employer and the rights of the employee, professional mobility requires reconciling the thorny paradigm between flexibility in the company and safety of the professional career. This complexity reveals an original ambiguity: professional mobility is essentially inspired by practice, so that today there are as many mobility schemes as there are situations involving mobility. Professional mobility clause, reclassification of the employee, personnel provision, secure voluntary mobility, performing agreement, negotiated breaks of contract, assignment of contract, the study of legal devices shows that mobility is mainly envisaged in the short term, at the initiative of the employer and built on a pattern of constraint not taking into account the individual freedom of the employee. The lack of efficiency of the legal framework and the resulting abuses in practice make positive law incompatible with the objective of developing positive mobility, which is the cornerstone professional mobility law. The many interventions of the legislator in support of the forms of constrained mobilities contribute to the failure of this ambition. While the right to mobility is, formally, a fundamental guarantee of the status of civil servants and public officials, such equivalence does not exist in private law. The major challenge therefore lies in the ability of the legislator to rethink positive mobility

This to raise the issue of availability of trained manpower in training institutions to transform the wood locally. Structures exist in sufficient numbers for the second transformation where companies are more artisanal than industrial and the number of companies in the industrial manufacturing is non-existent. This opens a large field of possibilities to question the adequacy: training, the effectiveness of their training action or commitment of the actors (students, teachers, trainers companies) engaged in such training.
The object and the main topic of this research aims to conduct a situational diagnosis of the staff nurses of a university hospital in connection with the resistant personality, Hardiness. In order to address the Burnout Syndrome prevention (SB) and management, the situational diagnosis was performed using the Hardiness Scale to assess staff nurses at Antônio Pedro University Hospital (HUAP). It is supported by conceptual basis where Nursing is one of the groups most exposed to Burnout Syndrome, which main characteristic is chronic stress related to work, causing physical and psychic illnesses, and compromising the job performance outcomes. Effective personal strategies lead to more stress resistance, called Hardy personality or Hardiness, to which there are three estimation of dimensions: commitment, control and challenge. Methodology: a descriptive and exploratory study, with a quantitative approach, and a sample of 171 nurses in hospital environment, from April to October 2016. A 30-item Hardiness Scale, Likert type, was used for collecting data. Results: only three (1.8%) of the professionals have high Hardiness in the mentioned hospital, whereas the other professionals have high level on commitment and low level on challenge. The correlations were presented in 05 (five) dimensions of analysis, which this study is consisted of. That is, the sample socio-emographic profile, association of Hardiness domains with nominal qualitative variables, association of Hardiness domains with ordinal and quantitative qualitative variables, descriptive analysis of Hardiness domain levels, association of Hardiness professionals with nominal qualitative variables, and Ordinal and quantitative. Conclusion: the research findings presented in the study as "Situational Diagnosis of Hardiness among staff nurses" will support preventive measures in the institution

Texte intégralIncreased interest has been shown in context-aware mobile learning systems. These systems aim to provide learning supports via mobile devices and adapt them to specific educational needs, personal characteristics and particular circumstances of an individual learner or a group of interconnected learners. Work-based learning is a crucial approach to promote professionals’ working and learning efficiency, which is need-targeted, personalized, just-in-time and location-based. These characteristics predict that context-aware mobile learning systems can play a role in promoting the effect of work-based learning. However, relatively few context-aware mobile learning systems are proposed for learning and competence development in work contexts. This dissertation proposes the design, implementation and evaluation of a context-aware mobile system for work-based learning, named WoBaLearn. More specifically, in the dissertation, we worked on: (1) the learning theories related to work-based context-aware mobile learning; (2) the approaches for designing a work-based context-aware mobile learning system; and (3) the technologies and methodologies for implementing and testing the designed system. The main contributions of this thesis are: 1) Proposal of an ontology-based hierarchical context model for work-based learning We defined an initial context model for describing contextual information in work-based mobile learning, named WbML. This model adopts a hierarchical designing approach which classifies con-text into a common layer and a domain layer. This approach improves the reusability of this context model. Also, the WbML context model is built based on ontology for describing context semantically. 2) Design of a set of adaptation strategies for work-based learning and an adaptation engine to execute these strategies We proposed a set of adaptation strategies concerning learning units selection, learning units sequence, learning units navigation, learning partners communication, and learning activities generation. These strategies adapt learning supports depending on professionals’ just-in-time learning con-text. We proposed also an adaptation engine which executes these proposed strategies to implement learning adaptations. 3) Construction of the WoBaLearn architecture Combined with the conceptual design bases about the context model, learning contents, adaptation strategies and adaptation engine, we proposed the system architecture of WoBaLearn which enables the WoBaLearn system to achieve the adaptive learning services. 4) Implementation of WoBaLearn We implemented the proposed system with modern technologies, and set a user study to evaluate it. Evaluation results provided us with the evidence that this system can offer professionals a satisfactory learning experience and facilitate their work activities

Texte intégralIn the context of globalization and a growing demand for highly qualified human resources, many healthcare professionals from the developing countries are now moving on their own initiative to the developed countries. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the determinants of international mobility intentions among foreign-born (outside the UE) healthcare professionals living in France. In this respect, we have built a research model based on the research on careers management and the theories related to cross-cultural adjustment and career anchors. Our research takes into account three main dimensions: (i) cross-cultural adjustment (to work, to interacting with host nationals, and to the general environment), (ii) hierarchical career plateauing and career satisfaction, and (iii) the role of career anchors, specially «geographical stability» and «internationalism». In fact, we seek to clarify the influence of each of these three dimensions on the intention (a) to return to the country of origin, (b) to go to another, (c) to stay in France. Following a review of the literature, research hypotheses were formulated. Data was collected, by questionnaires, from foreign-born healthcare professionals living in France. Statistical analyses were based on a sample of 317 responses. The main results show, on the one hand, that cross-cultural adjustment in France has no significant effect neither on the intention to return to the country of origin nor on the intention to go to another country. However, interaction adjustment has a positive and significant effect on the intention to stay in France. On the other hand, hierarchical career plateauing is positively and significantly related to the intention to return to the country of origin and to the intention to go to another country. It should be noted that career satisfaction is significantly related to the intention to stay in France. Distributive justice, for its part, has a positive and significant influence on general adjustment and career satisfaction but has a negative and significant effect on hierarchical career plateauing. Finally, our results underline the influence of career anchors on the intentions related to international mobility. When it comes to control variables, we see that personal characteristics, decision-making aspects, and contextual elements play a role in the international mobility dynamic of the foreign-born healthcare professionals living in France. Based on our results, we have formulated managerial and practical implications that could encourage the foreign-born healthcare professionals to return to their country of origin but also to stay in France. Limitations and vision statement for the future research are underlined in the conclusion

Texte intégralThrough a sociological approach, this research intends to analyse and better understand the school career of SEGPA students in Reunion Island. Our study mainly focuses on students about to leaving school in 12 different SEGPA. This approach, in terms of process, demonstrates that the personal history and the school career of the students we met cannot be reduced to an individual adventure, but are the result of a comprehensive process whose dynamics are to be found in the combination and interactions of a variety of elements, phenomena and events. Even though the institutional functioning of school guidance influence school destiny, this research shows that school career and the failure of students leaving SEGPA without any qualification are not reducible to the student's personal characteristics or social family context, but is due to a comprehensive process whose interrelated dynamics combine, interact, cumulate and influence each other

Texte intégralSince 50 years, school has deeply changed in discourses and teaching practices. Nevertheless, she doesn’t succeed in changing the access and success inequality of lower-class pupils. We question this “useless change”. This study is about academic discourses. We show that a break happened around the 90’s. The focus on the individuals, their mental mechanisms, their capacities and attitudes signed a new way to name pupils in defeat and the types of regulation recommended in fighting against school inequalities. The notion of “pupil in difficulties” appeared, as well as orders to individualize teaching. A questionnaire and interviews with teachers working in adapted teaching classrooms show that an ideology we call “mentalist” comes over academic discourses and teacher’s minds. The “pupils in difficulties” are characterized by cognitive “specificities” which are supposed to explain their failures. Nevertheless, this “hypothesis of specificities” is wrong considering our studies of results these pupils get in national tests. The study is also about eight mathematics teacher’s practices in adapted teaching classroom. We define two types of teaching very different: a “traditional type” and a “meta-cognitive type”. These two types, apparently so different, are finally very similar considering the conditions of devolution of knowledge to pupils during a mathematic research. These two types take sense in a same dualist Background which makes only the pupils responsible of the mathematics rules comprehension, and totally forgets the didactics conditions. Teachers can’t consider these conditions: we call this fact “didactic blindness”. This blindness could explain school inequalities

Texte intégralStress and coping have an important impact on professional practice. Objective: To identify burnout levels and coping strategies used by professional and amateur football players during the pre-competitive season. Participants were 134 male football players, 71 professionals (16 to 34 years; mean age 22.77; SD: 3.98) and 63 amateurs (15 to 18 years; mean age:17.18; SD:0.84) from three teams participating on the First Division State Championship. Method: During Series A-1 and A-2 of the Paulista Championship (professionals) and São Paulo Cup of Junior Football (amateurs) players who agreed to participate signed a consent form. They filled a charter questionnaire about demographic data, and answered the Burnout Athletes Questionnaire (QBA), and the Coping with Problems Scale (EMEP). For data analysis descriptive statistics, test for comparison of two proportions, t test for comparing means of independent samples, mean test and Mann-Whitney non parametric test were used. Significance level was P<0.05. Results: There was no significant difference (P<0.05) between both categories of athletes (professional and amateur) according to the means of the burnout sub-scales. Neither time length as athlete (professional or amateur) nor game position influenced the presence of burnout symptoms in the three categories. However, professional goalkeepers and attack players and amateur defenders presented higher mean scores for burnout associated with physical and emotional exhaustion. There were no significant differences related to coping strategies used by players (problem focused, emotion focused, wishful thinking/religious practices, and social support). Coping Focused Problem was the most frequently strategy used by all players (amateurs: mean=3.77 and professionals:mean=3.78). On the other hand, social support was the least used coping strategy (professionals: mean=1.94 and amateurs: mean=2.13). When coping strategies were compared based on game position and player category (professional or amateur), lateral player amateurs used more wishful thinking /religious practices (P=0.042) than professionals. Conclusions: There were no significant differences on the three burnout dimensions between both categories of football players, even when different game positions were considered. Coping Focused Problem was the most used strategy used by both the professionals and amateurs, except the amateur laterais, who used more wishful thinking /religious practices.

Texte intégralAbstract Social workers are part of a growing group of health and social services professionals who choose to immigrate to Quebec to live and pursue their careers. The recognition of diplomas obtained abroad and obtaining a license to practice issued by the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec are required in order to practice social work in Quebec. Once these milestones are met, the immigrant social workers begin their practice in a new professional and cultural universe, using the knowledge they acquired in their country of origin. From data obtained in the framework of a pan-Canadian qualitative research on the experience of immigrant social workers regarding their occupational adaptation (Pullen Sansfaçon, Brown and Graham, SSHRC 2011-2012, SSHRC 2012-2015), this master's thesis (by articles) explores the challenges inherent in the transfer of knowledge, professional experience and values obtained abroad, within a Quebec work context. The experience of 26 immigrant social workers, who graduated abroad and are currently working in the greater Montreal area, has been investigated, and has revealed both more and less transferable aspects of social work. The mission and values of social work, professional experience, theoretical knowledge and clinical skills have expanded beyond national borders. On the other hand, the discourse of participants indicates that the knowledge of laws, social policies, organizational procedures and language are transferred less easily, which can create gaps in a novel work setting relative to where the original social work training was obtained. In this context, the training and support of management, as well as the support of co-workers are both central to promoting the acquisition of local knowledge. Keywords : social work, immigration, professional, knowledge transfer, professional adaptation, Quebec
