Résumé :
In the course of our research we have developed a technology for fabricating an osteoplastic material from natural bone tissue. The obtained preparation in the form of gel contains hydroxyapatite, calcium triphosphate compounds and stimulators for regeneration. The proposed experimental material produces a stimulating effect on the growth of animal cell types; it enables to produce bioactive materials with increased biocompatibility. Application of the experimental gel facilitates the process of bone-tissue regeneration in the laboratory animals, which, in its turn, confirms the optimal compos

This study was designed by the University of Ankara Experimental and Research Laboratory for animals in 1997. In the study an anteroposterior skin flap technique was used for 20 knee disarticulation amputations and also in 20 trans-femoral amputations on immature rabbits, in order to investigate their effects on the femoral epiphyseal growth plate. The femurs of the rabbits were observed radiographically for 8 weeks. It was observed that the femurs tended to grow at a slower rate compared to the normal contralateral femur. These studies showed that the disarticulated limb femurs grew 0.68cm sh

Experimental study of the influence of crystalline silicium upon the damaged physis of the proximal femoral growth zone was performed in 24 Chinchilla rabbits. Defect of growth zone was created by drilling (2.6 mm in diameter). In first experimental group a metallic screw was inserted into the created defect. In the second group silicium monocrystal 5x5x0.5 mm was placed into the defect next to the metallic screw. In control animals only the defect was created. In animal from 1st and control groups roentgenological picture showed the development of deformity in the operated extremity. No defor

In the March 1993 issue of The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal we reported a female rabbit born in our laboratory with complete bilateral coronal suture (CS) synostosis. This follow-up study presents our attempts to breed the animal and establish a strain of craniosynostotic rabbits. The second part of this study presents longitudinal somatic and craniofacial growth data in offspring with coronal suture synostosis. Serial growth data from 72 animals were collected for the present study. The sample consisted of 11 animals (10 offspring and the original female) with complete nonsyndromic unila

Although primates have been the craniofacial growth models of choice, recent circumstances have stimulated the search for nonprimate models. In a series of studies we have described changes in various regions of the craniofacial complex for seven commonly used animal models. The present study examined the bony nasal cavity. One hundred and forty-four serial and cross-sectional lateral head x-rays were obtained for unoperated controls from previous growth studies. The sample consisted of data from 26 rats, 21 rabbits, 21 domestic cats, 23 domestic dogs, 17 baboons, 16 rhesus monkeys, and 20 chi

SUMMARY This review hopes to improve the selection of new tuberculosis (TB) vaccines by providing several perspectives on the immunization of humans, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, and monkeys which have not usually been considered. (i) In human TB vaccine trials, the low rate of healing of Mycobacterium bovis BCG lesions (used as the control group) would distinguish individuals who might be helped by vaccination from the 95% who do not need it and would make these trials more conclusive. (ii) The rabbit immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis is much more effective in arresting tuberculosi

The great problem of rabbits breeding today is coccidiosis. An agent of the disease spreads not only through ill animals and is preserved well in the external environment. Oocysts of coccidia live in cells for a long time, so even temporal vacation of an accommodation between placing of rabbits doesn’t prevent infection. It was experimentally proved, that there is a very limited spectrum of means that are coccidiostatics. For preventing and controlling rabbits’ eimeriosis, coccidiostatic means were tested.
