À deux endroits de ses oeuvres en vers (De memorabilibus VII, 3, 94 e epist. V, 73), Raoul Tortaire emploie le mot vafria, qui n’est attesté dans aucune autre oeuvre latine. Ce n’est cependant pas un néologisme créé par le poète, mais un mot corrompu présent dans la tradition manuscrite des Facta et dicta memorabilia de Valère Maxime (VII, 3, ext. 2) au lieu du mot correct vafritia et considéré par Raoul comme un mot latin authentique. L’article a aussi pour objet de traiter des relations intertextuelles qui émergent de l’analyse des textes examinés.

Résumé Le mot « relations » se réfère à de nombreux concepts qui sont parfois peu compatibles entre eux en sociologie contemporaine. Compte tenu de la brièveté de la contribution que nous offrons ici, aucun effort ne sera fait pour modifier cette situation. Je présenterai plutôt une interprétation générale, une sorte de dénominateur commun, puis j’illustrerai la manière dont j’ai cherché à utiliser ces termes dans mes propres travaux sur les stigmates et sur les inégalités en matière de santé au Royaume-Uni - dans mes écrits, les termes relations et structures sont plus ou moins traités en tant que synonymes. Je terminerai avec une réflexion sur ce que j’appelle le modèle jigsaw, un outil heuristique susceptible de faciliter l’étude sociologique des relations qui se manifestent dans le monde social que nous habitons.

Les réseaux sociaux occupent une place de plus en plus importante dans notre vie quotidienne et représentent une part considérable des activités sur le web. Ce succès s'explique par la diversité des services/fonctionnalités de chaque site (partage des données souvent multimédias, tagging, blogging, suggestion de contacts, etc.) incitant les utilisateurs à s'inscrire sur différents sites et ainsi à créer plusieurs réseaux sociaux pour diverses raisons (professionnelle, privée, etc.). Cependant, les outils et les sites existants proposent des fonctionnalités limitées pour identifier et organiser les types de relations ne permettant pas de, entre autres, garantir la confidentialité des utilisateurs et fournir un partage plus fin des données. Particulièrement, aucun site actuel ne propose une solution permettant d'identifier automatiquement les types de relations en tenant compte de toutes les données personnelles et/ou celles publiées. Dans cette étude, nous proposons une nouvelle approche permettant d'identifier les types de relations à travers un ou plusieurs réseaux sociaux. Notre approche est basée sur un framework orientéutilisateur qui utilise plusieurs attributs du profil utilisateur (nom, age, adresse, photos, etc.). Pour cela, nous utilisons des règles qui s'appliquent à deux niveaux de granularité : 1) au sein d'un même réseau social pour déterminer les relations sociales (collègues, parents, amis, etc.) en exploitant principalement les caractéristiques des photos et leurs métadonnées, et, 2) à travers différents réseaux sociaux pour déterminer les utilisateurs co-référents (même personne sur plusieurs réseaux sociaux) en étant capable de considérer tous les attributs du profil auxquels des poids sont associés selon le profil de l'utilisateur et le contenu du réseau social. À chaque niveau de granularité, nous appliquons des règles de base et des règles dérivées pour identifier différents types de relations. Nous mettons en avant deux méthodologies distinctes pour générer les règles de base. Pour les relations sociales, les règles de base sont créées à partir d'un jeu de données de photos créées en utilisant le crowdsourcing. Pour les relations de co-référents, en utilisant tous les attributs, les règles de base sont générées à partir des paires de profils ayant des identifiants de mêmes valeurs. Quant aux règles dérivées, nous utilisons une technique de fouille de données qui prend en compte le contexte de chaque utilisateur en identifiant les règles de base fréquemment utilisées. Nous présentons notre prototype, intitulé RelTypeFinder, que nous avons implémenté afin de valider notre approche. Ce prototype permet de découvrir différents types de relations, générer des jeux de données synthétiques, collecter des données du web, et de générer les règles d'extraction. Nous décrivons les expériementations que nous avons menées sur des jeux de données réelles et syntéthiques. Les résultats montrent l'efficacité de notre approche à découvrir les types de relations.

Denna studie syftar till att öka förståelsen för hur övergrepp mot äldre i nära relationer kan se ut, skillnader mellan könen och skillnader mellan yngre respektive äldre, samt att diskutera möjliga åtgärder inom området. Svensk forskning har visat att 16 % av kvinnorna och 13 % av männen efter sin 65-årsdag har utsatts för någon form av övergrepp. Det är således ett viktigt ämne. Kvalitativ metod och induktiv ansats utgjorde de övergripande metoderna. Med hjälp av litteratur och informanters kunskap har problemområdet utforskats. I huvudsak svensk, men i viss grad, nordisk litteratur användes. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med tre informanter och tre studier utforskades. Genom dessa genererades resultatet som sammanställdes och analyserades med hjälp av tidigare forskning och teorierna socialkonstruktionism och ålderism. Studien begränsades genom att svensk forskning i huvudsak användes. Anledningen till detta var att studien syftade till att undersöka svenska förhållanden. De övergrepp äldre utsätts för av vård- och omsorgspersonal och de övergrepp äldre utsätter varandra för på särskilda boenden inkluderades inte. Jag valde att titta både äldre mäns och äldre kvinnors utsatthet för övergrepp. Några av slutsatserna var att äldre kvinnor i högre utsträckning än män utsätts för övergrepp i nära relationer och att förövaren oftast är en man. Inom parrelationer var skillnaden mellan könens utsatthet för övergrepp marginell. Genusperspektiv saknas ofta när ämnet diskuteras. Ytterligare en slutsats som drogs var att avsaknad av forskning och statistik inom ämnet utgör ett stort problem.

The archaeological communication process can be hard to grasp. There are laws to take into consideration, not to mention the Government structure for culture and arts. This essay explains and simplifies the Swedish organizational communication with focus on archaeology. This study is aiming to clarify all the steps archaeological research needs to pass before reaching the public. The essay will also explore why it is important to communicate archaeological results, and if it reaches out to the extent that is expected. If it is not, the study will present examples of solutions and actions that can be taken to improve the mediation. The essay only investigates the archaeology process in Sweden. There are several Government institutions that are affected by the laws that protect ancient monuments, this study will at first hand observe the ones that have a direct effect on the archaeology communication process. By a survey, interviews and literature studies, the purpose with this study has become clear. The results have been reached by positivism and empiricism as theoretical basis. The literature consisted largely of writings on the subject communication theory, Swedish law and Government structure. The conclusion is that in the archaeology process, there are many factors that effects the outcome of archaeological mediation. Laws, “cultural goals” and several Government institutions has a saying in how, why and where the archaeological research findings are distributed. The PR-model chosen by Government institutions is often “The Public Information model”, but in this case there is no specific common model used by all the institutions that have an influence on the distribution of archaeological results. There is no survey done to show how the public are receiving the results given by “The Public Information model”. According to a small survey done to complete this essay there would be much to gain for all parts if the results of archaeological investigations used another model, or if the stakeholders could agree on the issue of how archaeological results should be communicated to the population. A factor that complicates this kind of work is the attitude in the governing body that considers culture (including archaeology) a non-commercial subject. As a result, archaeology is not seen as a brand that could be marketed. A factor that can affect the popularity for the subject.

In recent decades, public relations and news management have become increasingly important in organizations’ communication efforts. This thesis aims to show how the Kalmar municipality works with this type of strategic communication to build the Kalmar brand and how their communication efforts can be improved. The thesis is mainly based on theories concerning Public relations and News Management but also the medias impact on forming opinion. An important issue throughout the thesis is that all theories must be related to the fact that the study concerns an organization in the public sector and the obligations that comes with that fact. To get insight into how the Kalmar municipality works, a number of qualitative interviews have been used. The interviews were conducted with representatives from both Kalmar municipality, and from the local press in order to create a comprehensive picture of the problem area. The results have shown that there are flaws in the way Kalmar municipality work with PR and News Management. Changes that would improve their situation are such as a closer relations to the press, focus more energy on understanding how the media organization work and how they value news and a more structured internal communication in order to give a common outward picture of the city of Kalmar.

Disinformation is a growing problem in a fast changing world, where technology today contributes to the spread of false and sometimes directly harmful information. Within the field of international security studies there is an ongoing theoretical conflict over whether or not security ought to be expanded to include issues that otherwise do not concern the traditional state and military-centric approach. One such issue is the multifaceted phenomenon disinformation, which some claim has little or no meaning and relevancy within the international arena. This is because it mainly influences individuals. Nevertheless, the EU has still initiated security work to combat disinformation. The main purpose of this study is to describe and illustrate how disinformation is defined within the EU’s security framework. Applying David. A Baldwins conceptual dimensions and ideal types and anchoring them in the prominent theories realism, liberalism and constructivism, the study aims to describe and illustrate how EU views disinformation in its pursuit for security. The study later shows that disinformation needs to be affirmed and taken more seriously by the international community.

Domestic violence around the world increased, especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Swedish Democrats' however state that the increasing violence in Sweden is a result of the migration flow and an import of mediaeval values. The Swedish Democrats' claim they have the solution to develop the prevention of violence further.  The view of the Swedish Democrats' in their agenda is analysed within this thesis. Political statements, debates, and interviews, as well as information about the political party and their ideology is extracted from books, former scientific research reports and newspapers articles. The social construction of gender and men´s violence towards women is investigated using a combination of philosophical assumptions and specifically chosen theories to women´s subordinated position in the gender order in society.  The Swedish Democrats' fear that state feminism is pushing hatred of men that threatens individual Swedish men, nuclear families, and western civilisation. They are also worried about the change of men and masculinity. However, their understanding is influenced by the ideological beliefs on how the gender order should be organised.

AbstractDifferent theoretical frameworks have been developed to account for the impact of social connectedness on individual outcomes such as vulnerability and subjective well-being, in particular approaches based on social identity theory, on social networks, and on social capital. We review research that describes how such social connectedness approaches rooted in psychological, social-psychological and sociological traditions demonstrate the link between social relations, vulnerability and well-being.We summarize and compare key arguments of these approaches in terms of their views on the processes relating the collective-relational to the individual-psychological. Indeed, social connectedness is generally associated with positive individual outcomes (such as prevention of physical and mental health issues and improved subjective well-being).Under some circumstances, however, these positive effects weaken or disappear. We therefore discuss boundary conditions of these processes, by looking at research explaining variation of the relation between connectedness and well-being as a function of social conditions (e.g., structural inequality, weak social relations, or negative social identities).Last, we discuss specificities and commonalities between approaches, for example regarding bridging and bonding social capital, or intergroup and intragroup relations. We highlight the tensions between approaches and offer some guidelines regarding their most promising use as a function of one’s research goals.

Résumé :
The popular tracking-by-detection paradigm for multi-object tracking (MOT) focuses on solving data association problem, of which a robust similarity model lies in the heart. Most previous works make effort to improve feature representation for individual object while leaving the relations among objects less explored, which may be problematic in some complex scenarios. In this paper, we focus on leveraging the relations among objects to improve robustness of the similarity model. To this end, we propose a novel graph representation that takes both the feature of individual object and the relations among objects into consideration. Besides, a graph matching module is specially designed for the proposed graph representation to alleviate the impact of unreliable relations. With the help of the graph representation and the graph matching module, the proposed graph similarity model, named GSM, is more robust to the occlusion and the targets sharing similar appearance. We conduct extensive experiments on challenging MOT benchmarks and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Blue Mountain is a 35-minute work for two actors and orchestra. It was commissioned by the Ultima Festival, and premiered in 2014 by the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. The Ultima festival challenged me – being both a composer and writer – to make something where I wrote both text and music. Interestingly, I hadn’t really thought of that before, writing text to my own music – or music to my own text. This is a very common thing in popular music, the songwriter. But in the lied, the orchestral piece or indeed in opera, there is a strict division of labour between composer and writer. There are exceptions, most famously Wagner, who did libretto, music and staging for his operas. And 20th century composers like Olivier Messiaen, who wrote his own poems for his music – or Luciano Berio, who made a collage of such detail that it the text arguably became his own in Sinfonia. But this relationship is often a convoluted one, not often discussed in the tradition of musical analysis where text tend to be taken as a given, not subjected to the same rigorous scrutiny that is often the case with music. This exposition is an attempt to unfold this process of composing with both words and music. A key challenge has been to make the text an intrinsic part of the performance situation, and the music something more than mere accompaniment to narration. To render the words meaningless without the music and vice versa. So the question that emerged was how music and words can be not only equal partners, but also yield a new species of music/text? A second questions follows en suite, and that is what challenges the conflation of different roles – the writer and the composer – presents? I will try to address these questions through a discussion of the methods applied in Blue Mountain, the results they have yielded, and the challenges this work has posed.

By the societal embeddedness, we refer to the system’s interdependent relation with its broader social and institutional environment. Understanding these elements of Vietnam’s education system is of vital importance for efforts to improve education systems’ performance in Vietnam and beyond.

In the last decade, the value of bilateral trade between South Korea and Japan has shown a downward trend, and a ‘mini trade war’ and decoupling efforts to create more resilient supply chains in some economic segments have the potential to narrow trade relations further. This regression in bilateral economic cooperation is intrinsically connected to the deterioration of political relations between the two countries, and it was the re-emergence of unresolved historical differences on the political agenda that generated the tension between Japan and South Korea. On the other hand, the participation of the two nations in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) can be evaluated as an important first step towards intensifying trade relations. In addition, corporate business relations and the private sector is the most important bridge between the two economies. The common challenges and opportunities of a new economic era and a changing geopolitical environment may induce Japan and South Korea to improve political cooperation and lay aside their differences regarding interpretations of historical problems. The paper concludes that the regression in bilateral relations during the past seven years has not taken place because the disagreement between the two sides has become intractable but due to an unfortunate series of occurrences in the political field.

ASEAN’s economic ties with China have proven to be more crisisproof than merchandise trade and direct investment flows with the rest of the world. Before the pandemic, China had continuously increased its share in the economic relations of Southeast Asia, and this trend seems to have continued in the COVID era as well. In 2020 the region’s trade deficit with China decreased, while China’s share in both ASEAN export and import climbed. The COVID crisis further strengthened the importance of the technology sector and the need for a digital infrastructure; as a consequence, the expansion of Chinese tech giants in the region continued. Southeast Asian countries explicitly count on China in returning to pre-crisis economic growth levels. Most ASEAN states consider infrastructure development one of the catalysers of economic recovery, creating the opportunity for China to proceed with the Belt and Road Initiative.

In a previous report we have investigates subsumption in the presence of terminological cycles for the description logic EL, which allows conjunctions, existential restrictions, and the top concept, and have shown that the subsumption problem remains polynomial for all three types of semantics usually considered for cyclic definitions in description logics. This result depends on a characterization of subsumption through the existence of certain simulation relations on the graph associated with a terminology. In the present report we will use this characterization to show how the most specific concept and the least common subsumer can be computed in EL with cyclic definitions. In addition, we show that subsumption in EL (with or without cyclic definitions) remains polynomial even if one adds a certain restricted form of global role-value-maps to EL. In particular, this kind of role-value-maps can express transitivity of roles.

It has been alleged that a major deterioration was going to be inevitable in the U.S.-Hungarian relations under the Biden Admnistration. Due to political issues, some analysts are ready to expect a low ebb of amity between Washington and Budapest. The present study goes back to the foundations and revisits the nature of the uprgading of those relations in the past four years, the different layers of American policy-making as well as their objective outcomes. This paper argues that in spite of the real potential of conflict in political commmunication, the United States will remain the most important ally and strategic partner of Hungary outside the European Union with enhanced cooperation in many fields, including defense cooperation within NATO. Then the study goes on to revisit different scenarios of the future relationship between Hungary and the United States.

Iron is the fourth most abundant element in the soil, but since it forms insoluble hydroxides at neutral and basic pH, it often falls short of meeting the basic requirements of plants and microorganisms. Most aerobic and facultative aerobic microorganisms possess a high-affinity Fe transport system in which siderophores are excreted and the consequent Fe complex is taken up via a cognate specific receptor and a transport pathway. The role of the siderophore in Fe uptake by plants and microorganisms was the focus of this study. In this research Rhizopus arrhizus was found to produce a novel siderophore named Rhizoferrin when grown under Fe deficiency. This compound was purified and its chemical structure was elucidated. Fe-Rhizoferrin was found to alleviate Fe deficiency when applied to several plants grown in nutrient solutions. It was concluded that Fe-Rhizoferrin is the most efficient Fe source for plants when compared with other among microbial siderophores known to date and its activity equals that of the most efficient synthetic commercial iron fertilizer-Fe EDDHA. Siderophores produced by several rhizosphere organisms including Rhizopus Pseudomonas were purified. Monoclonal antibodies were produced and used to develop a method for detection of the siderophores produced by plant-growth-promoting microorganisms in barley rhizosphere. The presence of an Fe-ferrichrome uptake in fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. was demonstrated, and its structural requirements were mapped in P. putida with the help of biomimetic ferrichrome analogs. Using competition experiments, it was shown that FOB, Cop B and FC share at least one common determinant in their uptake pathway. Since FC analogs did not affect FOB or Cop-mediated 55Fe uptake, it could be concluded that these siderophores make use of a different receptor(s) than FC. Therefore, recognition of Cop, FOB and FC proceeds through different receptors having different structural requirements. On the other hand, the phytosiderophores mugineic acid (MA and DMA), were utilized indirectly via ligand exchange by P. putida. Receptors from different biological systems seem to differ in their structural requirements for siderophore recognition and uptake. The design of genus- or species-specific drugs, probes or chemicals, along with an understanding of plant-microbe and microbe-microbe relationships as well as developing methods to detect siderophores using monoclonal antibodies are useful for manipulating the composition of the rhizosphere microbial population for better plant growth, Fe-nutrition and protection from diseases.
